Picture blinks off on 55G310U

Hello everyone,
I have been having some issues with my HDTV-55G310U. Recently the picture has been blinking off for a second or two intermittently. I have noticed it mostly when playing with a Wii U, though it has happened with my cable box as well.
The television does not turn off, but the screen goes completely black for just a second then comes back on. It will maybe happen once every 30 minutes or so, but sometimes much less (watched an hour long television show and then played my PS3 for about an hour last night and it didn't happen at all).
Any ideas?

If you can't solve your issue and no one in the community can help, contact support to speak with a tech support agent at (800) 631-3811.

  • New MacBook Air - Camera "blinks" off and on occasionally

I just bought a new MacBook Air 13 a few days ago; I downloaded Skype the day I bought it. So everything should be up-to-date.
It doesn't matter how long I have been on Skype or anything thing like that, but every 30 seconds to a few minutes the camera and green indicator light blinks off and the back on, but only for a second. The person on the other end even notices it as my camera either turns off or the picture lags/freezes. Is this a known problem with Skype or is this an issue with my MacBook?

I don´t have or use a MacBook air, but I did notice the LED blinking usually when Skype switches the used video resolution. You may already know that Skype can adjust the video resolution according to different parameters like available bandwidth, cpu speed, and so on.  If you want to verify this, you could turn on "Show Technical Information" via the menu. Within the call, it shows the sending and receiving video resolution somewhere in the new technical information window. Just as the resolution switches, the LED flickers real quick. If this is the case, then that´s that. You cannot do anything about it. There is unfortunately no way to force a fixed setting regarding the used resolution.

Some here on my Macbook Air 11inch.  It's really annoying since Skype is the only way to keep in contact with my entire family (we live literally across the globe from eachother).  It's frustrating when I have trouble showing them things or my nieces get upset from my picture flickering on their end every minute or so.  I really wish we could get a fix!

    Dear Skegsy,
Fortunately, there is an example VI that does an excellent job of instructing one to use the custom control functionality to perform your desired action. To access these instructions, open LabVIEW, click [Help]>>[VI, Function, & How-To Help], search for "importing", select [graphics] under "importing", and click the link for "LabVIEW Custom Controls, Indicators, and Type Definitions". This link will open an Adobe Acrobat file with detailed instructions for your assistance.
I wrote (and attached) an example VI for you in which I customized one of the default LabVIEW boolean buttons to show an up arrow for the TRUE case and a down arrow for the FALSE case. I modified the Boolean button by right-clicking on the button from the Front Pa
nel, selecting [Advanced]>>[Customize...]. In the customize control window that now appears, you can modify any button using the help file instructions mentioned above.
Please note: the attached VIs may not function correctly in LabVIEW versions other than 7.0.
I hope this helps! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Have a great day!

  • My Iphone 4s automatically synced when I started ITunes. When it did this it saved all of my pictures on my computer to my phone. How do I reverse this and take the pictures back off of my iPhone?

My Iphone 4s automatically synced when I started ITunes. When it did this it saved all of my pictures on my computer to my phone. How do I reverse this and take the pictures back off of my iPhone?

Yeah, my iPhone 4S sometimes manages to connect to wifi for about 10 minutes now. I think there is a problem related with the antenna because when the phone heats up, the WIFI stops working. I had a similar experience with my older iPhone 4S which I bought from the U.S.A. (unlocked version) but after a couple of days, WIFI icon grayed out and I wasn't able to switch it on and off. Now the phone I'm using was bought in Turkey from a local carrier, (it's not locked I suppose) I'm planning on upgrading to an iPhone 6 and I will try to get my 4S repaired. I hope it is something related with software rather than hardware. Because a friend of mine sent his phone to the local Apple store to be fixed, they sent the phone back claiming that they had repaired it. But in about 2 days, the phone shut itself down and never turned off back again lol. I don't want to experience the same thing. But anyway, thanks for your answer. At least now I know that I'm not the only one that has this problem .

  • Any program in finder blinks off every 5 seconds I have to hit the program to activate

Ihave an issue in finder any program I have open wil blink off every 5 seconds I will have to hit the openprogam to activate 5 seconds later it blinks off anyone have this issue? using OS9.2 Mavericks. Thanks Harold

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents—again, the text, not a screenshot. I know the report is long. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

I have a compaq computer and it just started blinking off & on. I can not get it to do anything at all.

    For what purpose?
If you connect the iPod to your computer and it appears in iTunes you can backup the iPod and copy the media to a computer. Otherwise only a Data Recovery Company may be able to get info from the iPod.

  • TS1398 My ipad says it is connected to WiFi, which is workingly perfectly for several other devices, will not connect to internet.  It keeps giving the message 'Cannot Connect' or error has occurred or just blink off site or icon?

My ipad says it is connected to WiFi, which is workingly perfectly for several other devices, will not connect to internet.  It keeps giving the message 'Cannot Connect' or error has occurred or just blink off site or icon?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • DV-6117dx - power light steadily blinking off-and-on and laptop won't work

    A little background:
A couple of days ago, I shut down my computer because it was a bit slow (nothing new installed beforehand).  Upon a restart the next morning, I got a "log on initialization" error (with the laptop screen not working and being able to see the error message on an external monitor only).  Too many hours with Google basically says the only real way around this is to reinstall the system.  Fine.  I tried the minimized image recovery twice - error both times.  Finally, I tried the full factory reset.  That worked.  After the reset, however, came an endless series of issues.
    - First reboot, keyboard and touchpad doesn't work so had to plug in external versions.  Moreover, the native monitor doesn't work so had to plug in my TV.  But the set-up for Windows did finish.  Once on the desktop, I tried to access the Window monitor/screen resolution menu to get image back onto the laptop.  Laptop beeped once and shut itself down with the power light (on the power button) steadily blinking but power button is nonresponsive otherwise.
    - Tried a BIOS reset and got the laptop to power up.  Went into safe mode with networking.  Everything seems to work fine.  Restarted into normal mode (shut down then powered up, actually).  Boots into Windows on the native screen.  Went into Windows Update and that caused the machine to again beep and shut itself down.
    - After a minute or two of steady blinking from the power button light, laptop powered on and looked like it went into hibernation instead of random shutdown.  Since the dialogue was still showing, decided to try Windows Update again.  Same result as last time with the beeping, random shutdown, and steady blinking.  This time, though, the machine hasn't tried to restart itself.
At this point, short of buying a new machine, is there anything I can do?  I do have access to a CD that I'll try but want that to be the last resort since it means losing the recovery partition.  Besides, with the recovery partition working well (keyboard, touchpad, native screen, etc. all worked beautifully dring that process), signs seems to point to some odd hardware issue.

I've run the full battery of tests allowed by my limited access. The only issue I've run into is concerning the BIOS, wherein it gave me a message about not being able to update/rollback due to not being able to read the BIOS image. Tried flashing it twice but failed both times. There appears to be some news on this particular front in that it might indicate an issue with my trying to restore the system so many times and confusing the BIOS instead of just some catastrophic failure.
In other news, I did get into the BIOS menu and reset to factory default. For whatever reason, that allowed me get the minimized image recovery to work whereas it never did before. Performed the MIR. All went fine until just now when I tried to restart the system (after a massive Windows update).
Upon reloading Windows, I got the same error that started this mess - Logon Process Initialization Error. Considering that an MIR is a pretty clean install and I only installed the essential Windows updates, I'm at a huge loss as to where this error is coming from.
In any event, since there was no way to shut down the system, I had to do a hard shut down. There was a few minutes of waiting because, now, my power button is no longer functioning as it should - as in, it seems to only power on the laptop at my prompting when it deems necessary, not whenever I push it.
Moreover, having just rebooted with a clean boot (disabling all but MS services), my screen and touchpad both shut down and an external monitor and mouse were required. This seems to point to a graphic card issue, but it's a weird issue since, unless I'm booting into Windows normally, I've never had an issue with either the touchpad or screen through this whole mess - even booting into Safe Mode, I only encountered this issue once and only during the midst of the mess when the laptop was undoubtedly a mess.
At this point, I'll probably try to boot into this current Windows install once or twice more before giving up and installing a fresh copy of Windows (have a CD), losing my recovery partition. Honestly, considering the loss of the power button's reliability, this seems like it's just a brick that occasionally rouses itself to be more.  I'll report back with news of the clean install just in case anyone else ever runs into this special unicorn of a problem, but it appears my issue is a lost cause.
Frankly, I'm just annoyed at HP at this point. Leaving aside the fact that the warranty seems to have started over a month before the laptop got to my hands, this laptop top is just a couple of months out of warranty. I don't expect hardware manufacturers to guarantee their products for life, but the hardest thing running on this machine was Office (well, SETI@Home for the last 2 weeks). It was sitting elevated on a desk for the entirety of its life, and the CPU barely ever surpassed 50% usage. Every month or two, the vents would get compressed air sprayed in to get rid of excess dust. The only hardware change was done before the laptop ever turned on and that was a RAM upgrade. What I'm trying to say is that this was a laptop that should have given me, at the very least, more than just a few months of out warranty in terms of usage, and even if it dies, it shouldn't have been some catastrophic failure as this appears to be.
PS None of my blinking corresponds to the HP list of blink codes. It's my power button that's blinking, not my caps button light or wireless light or anything like that. And it was a steady blink off and on. Moreover, the blinking is no longer occurring since the successful MIR.

Where are the pictures coming from? I would more likely believe that your system has a virus than photoshop, but without more information, I could be misinterpreting your post.

  • Mac SE/30 blinks off

I have a Mac se/30, 4MB RAM, System 7.0.1. It was running fine for years, as I only used it infrequently. Last month, I wiped the drive and did a clean install of Sys 7.0.1.
The computer still boots normally, and it reaches the desktop without issue. However, after some random time, between 15 - 30 minutes, the screen will "blink out", meaning it does black like an old TV used to (old timers will recall how old TVs, when shut off, would have that remaining teardrop of white in the middle of the screen before going completely black). In the case of the SE, however, no power is actually lost, it is still juiced. It's just the screen that blinks out.
It doesn't matter if I am or am not using the Mac before it blinks off. I could let it just sit without touching the KB or mouse, and it will still blink off. However, I CAN get the system to completely lock up if I attempt to copy a file from a floppy onto the hard drive.
I know the systems could be indicators of just about anything, but I need a place to start looking. I don't have any spare RAM chips, but I can always get a new ROM battery at Radio Shack. Any suggestions on where I should start my troubleshooting?
    Thanks,
    hbchrist

Working near a CRT is dangerous. The Big Red Wire, the Flyback Transformer connected to it, and the CRT bottle itself can hold a charge in excess of 10,000 Volts for months after the power is shut off. If you connect that through your heart, e.g., Hand-to-hand, it can stop your heart permanently.
The US Navy teaches sailors who must occasionally work on "live" equipment to put their left hand in their back pocket. If you get a shock, your reflex will be to bring in your left hand to rescue your right. This is the worst thing you can do. Putting your left hand in your back pocket is enough to deaden the reflex.
Also, the CRT bottle has a strong vacuum. If you hit it, it can implode, sending sharp bits of glass flying in all directions. The last bit of air is evacuated from a tube in the neck. This small tube is extremely delicate. If you tap it while removing cables, your CRT bottle can be ruined in an instant.

  • Vertical Pictures Cut Off in Photo Album Page

On my photo albums page, the picture I want to use as the first picture is a vertical picture. But on the albums page, the albums are all horizontal. So when someone goes to look at my albums page, they just see these cut-off pictures with heads missing. Is there a way to change the orientation of the albums so they are vertical? Or is there a way to edit the first picture so that you can move the picture down so at least the head is showing in the horizontal view?

    Hi Kara,
the only solution I can find is to drop a vertical photo into the MyAlbums page and cover the album with it (thus hiding the other head-less photo) linking that photo to the photopage.
However this will cause the effects moving the pointer over the album cover (skim, dissolve, ...) to disappear.
As far as I know albums can't be rotated and vertical photos are cut off and you can't tell iWeb not to cut them off...

    Cédric
