Hello!
I have Windows, and work with someone on a mac.
1. Can I edit a picture (jpg, gif, etc.) and send it to him? (i.e. will he be able to open it?)
2. On Word etc. if a picture has a white background (e.g. it was scanned in) on the picture toolbar, there is a button to hide the white. Is there such a possibility on a mac?

Aperture ate my picture files and they are not recoverable. The guy at the Genius Bar told me to Trash the App, empty Trash, then go to Purchases and reinstall. But Purchases says it is "Installed" so it does not let me download it again. HELP!!!!
I typed Aperture into Spotlight and sure enough it did show up.
It looks like it is supposed to be in Apps.
But it is not there.
So I clicked on the spotlight Aperture and it opened up the App!!!!
But I do not know where it is to move it!
How can I find it?
While Aperture is running and you are seeing it in the Dock, ctrl-click (or right click) the Dock icon.
You will see a contextual menu. Click on "Options", then select "Show in Finder".
And check the "keep in Dock" mark, so you will not lose it from the Dock. -
I cannot secure delete items from trash: 180 items (pictures, files, folders) remain even if I check "remove all items". Macbook Pro, 10.6.8
Maybe the items are locked.

Well, you didn't give any information on your Mac, your OS version, transfer pics from where to where, or anything else, so guessing is the best anyone can do at this point: you should be able to simply using drag and drop.

I can no longer open word documents and view or work in them. Everything wants to open as a picture file and says there is "no preview available". I just need to know how to change the settings back to what they were so I can work in downloaded microsoft documents.
Are these Word documents email attachments that you are saving using right-click and Save Link As? It's possible that your email website has changed and instead you need to click the image or use the site's button.

How do I OUTPUT an edited picture file from the iPad (latest) to an external USB for easy transfer?
I am a photographer and I use my camera and iPad everyday. Camera takes pictures, connect to iPad, edit pictures with iPad software, output to Internet somwhere (Dropbox, etc..).
However, sometimes I need to hand someone a USB stick with an edited picture on it that came directly from the iPad. I know that I could do it by buying another computer but that would be silly. I do not have another computer.
I need to get the picture file OFF the iPad onto an external storage device (USB stick for instance). Can anyone help?Currently you can't use the camera connection kit to export pic to a USB thumb drive or an SD card.

Hi, I am a new user to iMac and have now bought just about every Mac product you can think of and have just taken delivery of an Apple TV and now want to stream photos but don't know how to transfer photos from my picture files over into my iPhotos for Photo Streaming. Is there an easy way? I have Mac for Dummies but they don't mention it there!! Guess it's too dummy for them!!! Any one out there can help me as I have loads of pics I would like to see on the big screen from time to time
You need to connect the Apple TV and the computer to the same network and then turn on "Home Sharing" in iTunes. Check boxes allow you to select what you want to share.
You'll see a "Computer" icon on the Apple TV and it holds all your music, movies and photos. -
I have had my ipod touch 4th generation for a couple months now.... Nowhere in the manuals or help sections does it tell me how to make individual pucture files(like that already on my computer) put onto my ipod touch.... I managed to make one and I can't remember how I did it but when I have the touch hooked up to itunes and try to pick which picture files from my computer to sync, a box always opens and says that it will delete everything in the original photo library that was in there.....
Can anyone help me there has to be away, I know someone has done it but they don't live here to show me!!!!
Please and thanx in advance!!!!!!!where on my computer am I suppose to make the individual picture files and have them to upload on my ipod touch.... I do have a photo library on my computer, but in the photo tab in itunes for the ipod touch and there is nothing checked for syncing, cause when I do check it it always says its going to replace everything i have in my photo library on my ipod touch..... So how am i suppose to have it checked and have it NOT replace pictures on it????
Also I cannot make more photo albums into my ipod touch, it just replaces the one album every time....
I am very frustrated cause I have tried the manuals and the apple support help etc and nothing pertains to my exact issue.....

How can i find out what color is a certain pixel in a picture file?
Do any of you know if there is some command that returns the color of a pixel in RGB format or something from a picture file?
I think the best way to find pixel RGB from a an image is to use extension of java.awt.RGBImageFilter
Load the picture file as java.awt.Image and apply that Filter you can easily get the RGB of your desired pixel

computer did not start up one day. it was a white screen
took it to a mac bar and they said the diagnosis was a faulty hard drive
I had backed up most of my images ( i am a photographer)
had not backed up atleast 6 files full of raw images!!!!
they suggested sending it to a data recovery specialist which would cost around $500!
I am not getting the answers I need on how, why, or what is going to be recovered or if raw picture files will be able to be saved.
Not sure what to do next because I dont have loads of extra money laying around to pay for something that should have not occured in the first place if I was actually sold a good computer.
payed $1095 for this imac and it only lasted just under 2 years. I feel cheated and scammed! Has any one else gone through this same thing?? what did you do?If it is only 20 months old it is still covered by the 3-year Applecare.

Reducing a picture file to attach to an e-mail message on a new Z10
Hello out there, recently got a new Z 10, love it by the way. Does any one know how to reduce the picture files that you take with the Z10 to attach one or more to an email message. There is no prompt in the sending process that warns you the files are to large and options to reduce the sizes. I have tried all the visible edit icons that come up but none of them are associated with file reduction.
I would appreciate any knowledgable responce.

Go to Solution.the picture editor in the z10 does a great job with cut, effects, sharpening etc. but there is no re-size. There are a couple of free photo editors in the appworld that does this for you.

I've been using Elements 10 on my windows 7 machine editing RAW/NEF picture files taken with a Nikon D40X camera with no problems. I upgraded my camera to a Nikon DX7100 and can no longer load my RAW/NEF into elements 10. Is there a compatability problem with my new camera? Will upgrading elements to a newqer version solve the problem?

I recently installed a 2nd drive in my Mac Pro. I wanted my pictures on the new drive so I moved the Picture file there. I also upgraded my iPhoto. Now iPhoto doesn't know where many of the photos are. Any quick fix?
Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the library on the other hard drive from those listed in the window:

CS4 programme error trying to save picture files!

I have a frustrating error when trying to save some of my older picture files with CS4 Extended. The ones that I am looking at are 5 years old and taken with my Canon 5D. When I open a file and then try to save it the save option is grey and only save as is available. When I try to save as I get the error Could not complete your request because of a programme error.
I have been trouble shooting the problem images and see that I cannot get File Info on these images with the following error, Could not complete the File Info command because of a problem with the File Info module. When I look at some earlier D10 pictures they operate perfectly as do my more recent 5DMkII images. I have tried removing the Exif data from the problem files and all the problems go away so I must be something to do with this embedded data. The problem images don't have corrupt data... it is all there and looks correct.
I keep track of my photos with IDimager V4.
Does anyone have a explaination or a cure for this problem as the last thing I want to do is loose my File Info for all those old picture that I still need to work on and use.

Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Open the photo in another software program such as GIMP or Paint Shop Pro X2 and save as in that software. After that open it in CS4.
Cs4 sometimes is flaky with damaged files and won't open them. Others will and re-saving it in different software will fix the problem. -
Open picture files and display in fullscreen slideshow?
I'm hoping for some help as I'm very new to LabView and quite lost....
I have a directory with many picture files (too many to put them all in
a powerpoint slideshow) and i want to open them one by one and display
them full screen with no border around them (not in a picture box, but
as displayed in a powerpoint slideshow).
I'm trying to use activeX to call the default "Preview" application for
windows, (which is able to run a slideshow when opened manually from
the directory). In the LabView VI, when the slideshow runs, it
takes over the full screen, as it should, however, the images are not
shown. The screen says "no preview available". I've messed
around with it a lot and just can't get it to work.
Any other application or any other way of displaying the images full
screen would be acceptable, if you know of any. I've also tried
the adobe acrobat browser 7.0, which has a full screen option, but i
can't seem to get that one to work either. Attached is a copy of
my code.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanx.

picture viewer2.vi 75 KBThe easiest would be to set the window not to have toolbars, scrollbars, etc. and to fill the entire screen and to scale all objects with the windows (these can be found in 2 pages of the File>>VI Properties dialog). If you resize your FP so your picture indicators fills it before doing this then any resizing of the window will resize the indicator as well. You can then use the Zoom property to enlarge the picture. To calculate how much to zoom you can divide the size of the picture by the Application>>Display>>Primary Workspace property.
Another option would be to use property nodes to change the Draw Area Size of the picture to fill the screen and to resize the picture itself using something similar to the method demonstrated here.

Problem printing PDF picture files imported from JPG using HP Colour InkJet cp1700 printer
When I print PDF picture files imported from JPG using an HP Colour InkJet cp1700 printer, the picture spills over. A wide range of other PDF files print OK. Have tried things such as configuring the printer to scale to letter size, etc,, but without success. Have a Windows 7 64 bit computer and Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.5.5. Any ideas?
Hello there! Welcome to the forums @rt70
I understand you're having some issues with printing PDF files from a website on Windows 7.
I would personally suggest trying to print from that website using a different web browser. If you're using Internet Explorer, try FireFox or Chrome, for example.
You can also try running the Print and Scan Doctor tool, that will search and try and fix printing issues.
If you have any issues that continue, please let me know what they are and which programs, websites, and web browsers you have tried, along with the results from running the diagnostic tool above.
