Picture formatting as part of a style?

Is it possible to have picture formatting (Picture border style & color, effects, etc) as part of a Style in Word 2010 or 2013?

You can't save the look of a picture border in a style, but note that some settings, such as border colors, will depend on the current theme color(s), if that helps.

FindChangeByList script question, re: when a style is part of a style group

I'm using InDesign's FindChangeByList script and am running into a problem.
Here is the problem line:

What I am trying to do is format every paragraph with the style called "Body2.TextIndent" which is located in my style sheets under a group called "Text"
This line is not working for me; I get a JavaScript "Error #17. Error string: variable name expected."
Please note that I CAN get this line to work just fine if I use a style that is NOT in a group. For instance, this line works fine for me:

The problem is apparently that the FindChangeByList script doesn't like style groups. I found this by Googling the internet and found this link:

Kasyan, it works for me now! THANKS! One thing... I notice that in your line, you removed the part "changeConditionsMode:1919250519". Maybe that was the problem? I'm new to scripting. What does that line do? Can I leave it out?

Turn word PDF to picture format PDF

Hi,
I have asked before how to make PDF content not copyable, now that I am able to do that. But my boss said it is a contract, so he don't want people to be able to copy and search in the PDF. So I suggested to make the contract in picture format, so that people cannot search in it, at least that is what my boss want. I simply just use the snap shot button (Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional) highlight the page, then create PDF from clipboard image, but because i can only create one PDF from that snapshot page, so that the contract have 20 pages, I need to do that 20 times, and combine the PDFs, it takes me like 5-10min to do a 20 pages contract, but my boss said he would prefer to click a button and that the words can be converted to image format, or a easier way to do it, so I wonder if there is a way for that.

Edit copy in a CS6 file, but lock formatting of parts of the file

I have a client that needs to be able to edit some copy in a file that I've created in adobe Illustrator CS6, but I want to be able to lock the formatting of parts of the file. I don't want them to use CS6.Suggestions?

Can't do. At best you could offer them a hacky solution liek creating a PDF form with an editable text field, but it may end up looking awful.

When I tell the custom style mapping option to format a Word style (from an rtf document) with the InDesign style, the text still maintains the word formatting or it shows a style override in the InDesign style. I have a large document that needs to import the styles correctly and I've followed the tutorials exactly however the placed text is still hanging onto the word RTF styles. I want the rtf text to convert to my InDesign styles completely without overrides.

I actually need the cell styles. That's what sets my font, spacing, and GREP styles.
I did find the solution today. In the table style or table setup, I needed to set the "Stroke Drawing Order" to "Column Strokes in Front". Even though it was previously set to "Best Joins" and I had no strokes for rows or for the table borders, it just wasn't giving priority to my dotted columns.

Hello userlarry, do you have Mobile Me? You could use that. Or you could compress them, you would still need to send them in an email, but it would help with size limitations of emails.
To compress them, put them in a folder and right click on the folder. You should see a Compress option. Then just drag the .zip file into your mail.

What picture format is best

I did a quick test to find the smallest picture format. I drew a drawing in paint and saved it as a png, jpg, and gif. The file sizes have a large range.
jpg = 158 KB
gif = 84.2 KB
png = 12 KB
It appears that the png is the smallest by far. Does this mean it will be faster to use with a java program? Should I be using png exclusively? Are there reasons to use the other formats?

So you don't care whether the pictures look like crrap, you just want them to load fast?
Is it show-stoppingly important that a picture loads in 0.11 seconds rather than in 0.17 seconds? You would really sacrifice picture quality for that speed improvement?
Now note that these are all made-up numbers. That's because there are a variety of things which might affect the speed in which a picture loads, and you haven't told us about any of those things. The amount of disk used to store the pictures is only one of those things, and not a particularly useful thing either. Unless one of the other things is that you're transferring them over a 300 BPS dial-up line.

If you have Acrobat 11, you'd select: File > Save As Other > Image
and select one of the available image formats.

Formatting Word document with APA style in Pages

I have been asked to format a word document into APA style; however, I use Pages and do not have Microsoft Word. Can I take the document, format it in Pages and then save it again as a Word document? Will everything transfer correctly? Or am I asking for a major headache?

How to set a different output format as part of the Concurrent request

We are on EBS 11.5.10.2 and we are also using XML Publisher 5.6.2. We have few Excel output reports. The issue we are having is that when we defien these reports as a concurrent program, the options for output always defaults to PDF. The end user has to alter this every time to Excel as part of the options, even though we know, the output is always going to be an excel output.
Is there a way to default other than PDF. If not, is there any enhnacement request to default it from the template.

thats right that default format is pdf but u can change this ... if u want the out put format as excel go to Oracle xml administrator responsibility -->administrator tab
and change the default format as you required.
otherwise .... if u want to change it while submiting the request .... go to submit request ... u find one options tab there click on it and change the format as well as template ..... or language if u want to change.
also once u submit the request ... u can go to window menu and go for reprint and republish .... there also u can change the format and all.

GREP style as part of paragraph style

I'm wanting to create a GREP style that uses a character style. Whenever certain words (No class) appear followed by dates. Sometimes it is a single date and sometimes more than one date. For example:
No class 7/11.
No class 7/11-8/11.
What I have so far is:
No class \d+.
This works okay through the words "No class" and the first digit, but not for the whole sentence. I've tried different combinations but nothing that works correctly.
Can anyone help?

I so much appreciate your help with this. Your explanation makes it understandable. But there is still a mystery.
The GREP for Instructor: Instructor Name works fine. The GREP for the date sentence is not working. Instead of the date sentence becoming italic, it matches the first part of the paragraph. This is what the GREP looks like:

In a separate issue in another paragraph, which is a heading paragraph, I have a similar situation. The headings are bold, some headings list ages, and some list ages AND whether parental participation is required. I thought I could extrapolate from the information you've given me to fix this paragraph as well. I've tried different combinations, but so far haven't gotten it to work. The paragraph looks like this:
But it needs to look like this (bold paragraph with ages in regular,and parent requirement in italic):
The heading doesn't always have an age requirement, and doesn't always require parental participation.
The catalog is quite long, so if there is a way to fix these two types of paragraphs, it would save a ton of time.

How to differentiate picture formats in LONG RAW column?

I have a table with a long raw column that contains pictures. I would like to know for each row if the picture in the long raw column is in JPEG, TIFF, BMP, etc.
Does somebody have an idea on how to do this?

1) You really shouldn't be using LONG or LONG RAW data types any longer. You should at least be using BLOB data types here.
2) When you designed the schema, there should have been columns (or other tables) to store metadata about the file, including the type of image a row stores.
3) Lacking any of this, you could write a program that fetches the data and determines whether it is a valid JPEG, then checks to see if it is a valid TIFF, etc. until it happens upon a file format that appears to work. Obviously, though, that is a relatively costly exercise. If that's what you're forced to do, I'd strongly encourage you to store that information in a (potentially new) column in the database so you only have to do it once.

Safari Half Loading Pictures, Not-Loaded Part is Gray

I have a Macbook Pro a couple months old. On many pages a picture or two is partially loaded--the other part is gray. I attached an example. I've tried everything--even called Apple Support. Please help!

Issues with printing all picture formats to the a4 paper tray via eprint

A little mystery which i am unable to work out.
I have recently purchased the hp photosmart plus all in one printer b210 model. The printer has eprint which is enabled and working, the printer has two trays, a standard a4 paper tray and a photo tray.
When i send a letter or standard written email it prints fine to the a4 paper tray. however if i wish to print a picture of any size or type (as i have tried different sizes and file types etc) to the a4 paper tray, it always defaults this to the photo tray and of course as there is no paper in the photo tray it displays an out of paper message.
I have been into the printer prefereneces and changed the tray type both to a4 and to auto - ask me first and both still try to print to the photo tray, looking at the demo for e print it does discuss only photo sized images and standard letters but the demo video shows an actual eprint send to the a4 tray of a different type eprinter for hp.
As a summary i really think that you can be able to send images to the a4 tray via eprint but do not know how. i have changed the tray type on the printer options and also looked at the eprint options on line. the paper default is set to a4 and nothing smaller? what else could be done and is it actually possible for this model i have?
just as an additional note i can print pictures from wireless via laptops and pcs to the a4 paper tray so the issue lies with eprint????

Currently, if you attach a photo, it will default to the photo tray. The ability to specify photo tray vs. main tray w/attached images is not available yet.
A work-around that provides some fliexibility in this area, is that if you embed your photo into the body of the email, it will print from the main tray...don't put any text into the email and embed the image (so you can see the picture in the email body) and send it to your printer's email.
A limitation of this approach is that images will not automatically fill the page - see my crude "drawing" below of a page w/an image in the upper part of the page as an example of how a print out of an embedded image might appear. Give this a try yourself if you'd like to see how the output looks to determine if you want to make use of this option. You can embed multiple images as long as you stay below the 5MB size limit for each email.
