Picture frame stroke effects and instant alpha to book projects created in aperture?

Is there a way to add do the following in aperture?
Picture frame effects
Reflection effects
Instant alpha.
Seems funny that I can find it in keynote, pages and iWeb, but not in this pro software.

Images with Picture Frame stroke not printing?

Does anyone have a known solution to an issue in which an image with a stroke of "Picture Frame" applied will not print?
More details...
- Created pages document (originally in '08 version of Pages, then upgraded to Pages '09 to see if that fixed it -- it did not)
- Printed document in both both Pages version. All assets within document printed correctly with exception of photos that have stroke of "Picture Frame" applied.
- Printed to PDF. Opened and printed from Preview. Again, all assets within document printed correctly with exception of photos with stroke of "Picture Frame."
- Tried modifying print settings to "fit in page" as well as color correction. Same symptoms applied.
- One solution (that's not the desired behavior but should be acknowledged) -- removing stroke allows images to print.
Other:
- Problem is reproducible across both versions of pages.

Tried:
deleting plist
uninstalling Pages
trying a different account
updating firmware
trying a different printer
The only thing that works -- which also worked for you -- was something other than this printer. And even with a firmware update, it's not working.
I'd say this is an HP CP1025nw problem, which kind of hurts given it's a newer printer for us.
Suppose it's best to consider this closed and unsolved.

Hidden picture frame strokes?

Hello all,
I'm using Keynote's Industrial theme and I've used the slide layout with two columns and an image on the side.
If you look at the image, the picture's stroke is quite nice (it looks like if the background is embosed inwards). I'm trying to replicate this stroke, but strangely it does not appear in the stroke dropdown of the inspector window.
Is there another way to obtain this? Is it a 'system' border that cannot be accessed?

Click on the placeholder, do Copy Style, then Paste Style to the object of your choice.

Outline Stroke, Effects, and Appearances.

Dear Adobe Users, Please come to my aid, I am at my wit's end.
I am trying to recreate the effect described here (http://opentype.info/blog/2012/08/09/the-google-maps-effect-in-adobe-illustrator/) - to whit, a a non-destructive, merged series of paths with a complete outline, with paths that can be resized at will without affecting any other paths, and any overlap areas should merge.* I have only been able to replicate it once and I cannot seem to do it a second time. Every single time I go to Effect > Path > Outline Stroke, nothing happens: an ‘outline stroke’ effect tab is added on the appearance panel, but nothing at all happens to my lines, they don’t change in the slightest.
I can add all the outline stroke effects I want (in the appearance tab) - no effect. I can double click on the outline stroke - nothing happens. There's nothing to edit. I can move it around - no effect. I can get OBJECT > Path > Outline stroke to work, of course, but that is not non-destructive: it destroys my paths, and I can't add new paths or anything.
I cannot copy-paste the successful attempt into new layers. I cannot duplicate the layers into new files and have the effects still work. I cannot copy existing paths into the layer and use the eye-dropper to copy the effects.
Please, someone, come to my aid! What did I do right, and how can I do it again?

I tried that, it didn't work. It just adds another stroke under the first - it doesn't work as an outline

When double click in picture frame turns blue and dont increase size

When double click in picture frame truns from yellow to blue but doesnt work. It does nothing. If select full screen it dont work either

Picture Frame Special Effect

Hello,
I would like to ask your help if we can do this effect in FCE and how to do it.
I'm thinking of freezing a particular frame then make it look like a framed picture or something like Polaroid images.
Any idea is greatly appreciated.

made that a few years ago with iMovie5 and QTpro.. (=didn't own FC/e to that time.. )
the basic steps:
• export the frame of video you like to see on that Pola
• use any paint-app (Pixelmator, Photoshop/elements, .. 'abuse' Keynote ) to create a Pola with that frame as 'photo'
• add that still and keyframe the scenery to zoom-out out of video ..

What and who prints the books made out from Aperture?

I am happy with mypublisher.com but can't upload anymore due to a bug somewhere on my computer. Does anyone know what printer aperture uses for their books? Anyone who ordered a book already, did they come out fine?

I have seen a few sample books, but I've not printed any myself. There have been a number of people here on the forums expressing their satisfaction with the books, as well as a handful that have had some issues. I was impressed with the books I've seen, but of course I wasn't familiar with the source material. The consensus here is order the small sample book first to judge the results from your images before putting together larger book orders.

How to change "Object Causes Wrap" and a "Picture Frame" as a default properties when importing images in Autor

When I place images in iBook Author, they are automatically assigned these properties: "Object Causes Wrap" and a "Picture Frame" stroke.
I don't want that and couldn't find where can I change it in the Preferences. Anyone has an idea?

It would be great if I could be able to change it in the Preferences to "No wrap" and "No Frame" so I don't have to manually adjust every single image of my book - there are lots of them.
It would be really nice if Author implements "Layer's" concept like almost all graphic programs like Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, etc.

Instant Alpha and Masking

I recently tried to edit some photos using the Masking and Instant Alpha. When I tried using these features Pages froze almost immediately. It just kept "thinking" with the rainbow dial and I had to Force Quit. I have tried SEVERAL times. I even went to the Apple store and worked on a display model and the same thing happens.
Is anyone else having this issue? I feel like it must be a bug. Please update software and repair this. Or tell me what I am doing wrong. I dont know what other software to use.

How do you increase the Brush Size past 50 on the Stroke Effect?

Hey Everyone,
I created a photo in Photoshop and I imported it to AE, and I've been trying to create a Spray Paint effect by using the Stroke effect and Reveal Original Image to look look like as if I'm spray painting the the picture on the wall. All is going well until I get to the brush size, and it only goes up to 50. Does anyone know how to increase it past 50? 50 is to small, it won't cover what I want it to cover for the stoke. I can't seem to figure out a way to get it higher than 50, and I don't know any other way to create the effect I'm trying to go for. Anyone know how to either get past this or know a different way to get make it look like I'm spray painting the picture on the wall? Any help at all would be great.

The After Effects CC (12.2) update increases the maximum size of the brush for the Write-on effect and Stroke effect to 200 pixels (from the previous maximum of 50 pixels).

Alpha Channel in Photoshop for iWeb instant Alpha?

Recently i wish to Make a Picture's Background to transperence.
I try to use a ODD color (green screen's GREEN) as background color so that it'll be easy to delete the background when apply the instant alpha function...but i relize that it doesn't really make sense at all...Most of the parts doesn't process well...
Question:~
+ What s'ld i do in Photoshop before i bring the picture file into iWeb for instant alpha?Alpha Channel and save as .psd?
+ Do any other useful way to solve the issue above?

Here's what I do:
1 - open the file, double click on the background layer in the Layer pane to unlock it and add a second layer below the original layer.
2 - using your tool of choice delete the background you want removed. If the background is a single color I use the Magic Wand tool. You may have to work with the Tolerence number if there's any gradiants. Other wise I use the Quick Selection tool (again you may have to set the Tolerence level)
3 - When he background is removed you then use the File->Save for Web and Devices option.
4 - in the next window select PNG8 under Preset and check the Transparency box. Colors is set to 256, Dither at 200% and Web Snap 0% (these are all the defaults the first time I used it).
5 - The background should show transparent. It it doesn't click on the color that you want transparent in the Color Table and then click on the far left box in the toolbar directly below the color chart. You can add additional colors if desired.
6 - Save and you're done.

Exporting to USB flash drive for use in digital picture frame

With the recent popularity of digital picture frames, has anyone else run into this problem......
I purchased digital picture frames to give as gifts this year, wanting to give them "pre-loaded" with photos. So i copied a bunch of pics from iphoto ( some i had edited, some not) onto a small 1GB flash drive. after ejecting the flash drive properly, i inserted it into the digital picture frame (kodak DPF800) and the slideshow starts as it should ...but then "freezes" midway through. repeatedly. and not always on the same picture.
After several calls to the kodak tech support line, i finally had someone tell me that the frame will only read raw jpeg files.
what does this mean? all the files in the flashdrive show as .jpeg.
am i doing something wrong?
any guidance would be appreciated.

This is often caused by a file permissions issue on the photo. Download BatchMod from

Yes, unfortunately apple did get rid of picture frame with ios7 and a lot of people are complaining about it. Pretty annoying cos I like to use my iPad to display photos. Now we have to rely on third party apps.

I SPENT HOURS AND HOURS ON A BOOK FOR MY PARENTS. NOW IT IS GONE! MY PROJECTS IS EMPTY.

Once again, I have spent many many hours making a book for my parents. Finding old photos of my parents, their parent and other family members. Working with my mother long distance to get the right information about each and every picture and on and on. I had two pictures left to ID and I when into MY PROJECTS with HP PHOTO CREATIONS, and my PROJECT is GONE!! I have look everywhere on my harddrive and nothing. At no time was there EVER information provided by HP that when the PHOTO CREATIONS PROGRAM WAS UPDATED I would lose all of my hard work.
I can not even begin to tell you how angry I am at this moment. My mother is very ill and most likely the book will not ever be started over again. PLEASE I am begging....if HP could help me find my project. The name of the book was Zuhlke Family.
In addition I really have got to say I own HP printers laptops etc as I love the quality. I have purchased the My Care warrant (or whatever it is called, and never used it) but trying to be able to simply ASK A QUESTION is such an ordeal with HP. I truly am thinking of going with a different company simply because other companies are approachable and HP is NOT. There is so much you have to go through it is ridiculous. Each new set of questions and what is the serial number and where did you purchase your item only adds to the frustration people are already feeling. So by the time we can actually get to a place where a question can be asked the frustration level has risen 10 fold. Just something for you to think about.

Graphic stroke "picture frame" not showing

My photos were "stroked" in the graphic inspector of iweb as "picture frame". This effect works if I view the site from my local hard drive but not when I upload to the commercial server via fetch. Has anyone else been able to see stroked or framed graphics created in iweb and hosted on a commercial, non apple server?

It was a scripting error on the hosting server and not iweb related. Hurray!
