  • Sound through hdmi to my tv works but not when watching video online like 4OD

the sound through hdmi to my tv works with music and videos I have downloaded, but not when watching video online like 4OD and youtube.
How can I get it to work?

Ok so I happened to figure it out while on the phone to apple support. Even though the guy was very nice, I think I knew more than him! He was explaining very basic resolution principles I played about. I had the second option in displays resolution. All I did was unplug the HDMI cable, click on 'best for display' then plugged the HDMI in and my resolution on the normal monitor changed to the normal blue, then went black momentarily and then changed to a strange resolution but another window appeared that said SONY BRAVIA HDMI at the top! Hey presto! Don't know why it didn't do it yesterday - I probably left the HDMI cable in or something! Oh well. Problem solved!

  • Why does my iPad keep freezing when watching programmes on itv player or you tube.

Why does my iPad keep freezing when watching programmes on itv player or you tube.

Try the basic troubleshooting tips and see if any of these help with the freezing issue.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the apps. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If you are watching the YouTube videos on Safari - this may help as well. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data (orCache in iOS 4.3.5). Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Computer freezes when watching videos (or video calls) since I bought a new router linksys E1200

    Hello!
Since I've bought a new Cisco router last summer,, a Linksys E1200 (v.1 updated...) (always in the wireless mode), my laptop (Sony, Vaio VGN-NW110D) freezes when I stream videos online or when I use skype video calls. It sometimes freezes for a few minutes (in that case it's just really extremely slow and it sounds like a satanic robot), and then comes back (but does it again a few minutes later. Or sometimes, and this is more frequent with skype video calls, it completely freezes, and I have to reboot the hard way...
This never happened to me before and I've been watching videos and video skyping for years. I have windows 7, service pack 1 (32 bits) now . I have windows 7 now, since about the same time I bought the router. But what makes me think its related to the router is that when I'm at work, or at my parents, or sisters, or boyfriend's house, this problem does NOT occure.... Do you think you could help me? This is getting really annoying! I would really appreciate it! :-) Thanks a lot!
ps-Oh and I don't know if this information could be relevant, but this does not happen when I make videos calls with skype on my iphone

You can try the following combination of settings:-
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your routers main/ basic setup page). Here is the link for determining and setting up the correct MTU size: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the user name field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

  • Computer freezes when watching TV show when Windows Audio started

Sorry in advance for the length of this post. I am currently running itunes 7.0.2.16. I can't load an earlier version because it tells me I need this version to access the itunes store. I orignally had a problem with my computer freezing (hard boot required) when downloading TV shows. Most of the time it would freeze when beginning the "Processing File" phase. I solved it by booting into safe mode to download the shows. I decided to troubleshoot the problem and uninstalled then reinstalled itunes and quicktime as instructed by Apple tech support. Things went from bad to worse. Now everytime I click on a TV show to watch it, my computer freezes. Using msconfig, I narrowed it down to the "Windows Audio" service. If I disable the service, itunes runs fine albeit without sound (silent episodes of Lost anyone?). I renamed the audiosrv.dll file and tried to copy a new version over from another computer. The system said it was still there and asked me if I wanted to replace it. I said no and restarted the computer. Windows XP magically recreated the file so then I had two copies of the file in the System32 directory, the renamed one and a new one. Deleted both, restarted, and the file magically reappeared. I then tried itunes and it immediately froze. After the required hard reboot, I replaced the existing file with the new file. Started itunes, clicked on a movie, and it froze. At this point I don't know if the problem lies with itunes or if I have a damaged file in XP. My virus/spyware scanner didn't find anything and neither did trend micro's house-call. I downloaded AVG AS and it also came up clean with the exception of a few tracking cookies. I would like to reslove the issue without rebuilding the whole machine. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks in advace.

  • Macbook Pro keeps restarting when watching videos online

My Mid 2011 13in, 500GB HD, 16GB Ram Macbook Pro keeps restarting whenever I'm watching videos online be it Youtube, or Xfinity or anyother video site. Browsing online works fine, nothing happens. I also watched a movie I had on my harddrive and that worked fine as well. The problem is with online video. I even tried it on both Chrome and Safari and I still get the same result.  This started about 3 days ago now my Macbook restarts around 8-10 times a day. It has become a constant hassle that I had no issues with before. After it restarts it leaves a Kernel Panic Report reading: Can anyone help me figure out what the problem might be? Please and thank you.

Before this, it said the hard drive died. However, replacing the brackets allowed me to continue using the original hard drive.
If the hard drive died, replacing a bracket (whatever that means) could not possibly have revived it.
The panic log indicates a hardware fault, probably in the mass-storage subsystem.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.

  • My 5th Gen 60gb iPod freezes when watching video, help?

I recently bought my first iPod and have downloaded lots of music and photos. I recently bought the Xilisoft platinum converting programme and converted a couple of films to MPEG 4 and then on to the ipod. Now after sometimes as little as 30 seconds the picture freezes then after 5 seconds, the film continues without sound. I have tried this on all my videos on my ipod and they are all the same. Please can someone help me as it is very frustrating, thanks alot!!!!

You and a million other people. The problem is with firmware 1.1. To solve the problem you need to downgrade to firmware 1.0. You can look through the discussions where it's been covered ad nauseam.
What I did to downgrade mine:
Here's what needs to be done for downgrading to firmware 1.0 without losing any data on your iPod:
-Connect your iPod to your computer, ensure it's updated via iTunes, then disconnect it from the PC and exit iTunes
-If you don’t have the original firmware 1.0, download iPodSetup 2005-11-17 here:
    http://appldnld.m7z.net/content.info.apple.com/iPod/ww/win/061-2225.20051128.PDW nw/iPodSetup.exe
    - Then download iPodWizard here:

  • Error 50 or freeze when watching a movie while downloading from itunes store since version 10.6 (windows 7 64bit).

When I am downloading a tv show and try to play it at the same time, not matter the remaining time of the download, itunes stop the download with an error after a couple of minutes. (error 50.) Somethimes, it just freeze instead. I am able to resume the download and watch again till the next stop.
I have no problem just playing or just dowloading, only when doing both. I have this problem since version 10.6 only. This affect all my new downloads since then.
My first guest would be  a hard drive saturation that can't handle the load. Maybe  itunes stop downloading when the hard drive is too busy. But again, never had this problem before. It it was the case, the playing should stop, not the download !
My config is iunes 10.6.040, windows 7 64 bits.
    Thanks for your help.

This has been happening on my Windows 7 64-bit computer as well same exact problem with the latest version of iTunes. It does look like they have some kind of bug in this new version where the downloading process just dies when it has to deal any I/O wait from file playback, really a bad bug as this is a core function of iTunes that shouldn't have gotten through the testing process.  I have to say that iTunes is one of the buggiest pieces of software I have ever used in my entire life, all kinds of regressions and bugs with every update and they are on version 10.6.x !  Apple must have some poor developers in the iTunes team, hey guys put down the bong and chips and actually establish a standard continuous integration and testing process with good test coverage for iTunes! You shouldn't have regressions on such core functionalities especially with a software as mature as this, what's going on? Or is it that you've been instructed to make the software a crappy as possible for Windows so everyone goes to buy a Mac and OS X?
More bugs just off the top of my head in the latest iTunes 10.6.x:
    - In the download screen when you double click to playback a movie while it is downloading, if you pause the movie the play button goes grey, you cannot start playing the paused movie again without quitting the movie and clicking to start it again from iTunes
    - The next/prev chapter buttons during movie playback don't work at all anymore, they simply crash the movie, close the window and go back to iTunes
    - Many times after getting the unknown error -50 or -39 because you tried to play a movie while it was downloading, when you go back to the download window to restart the download iTunes loses all the downloaded movie content it had it starts over for no apparent reason!  Wonderful!
For a company that sells/rents really expensive movies and music you would expect a really high standard go into the software development process, apparently shareholders are more important than customers.

  • Safari and (less so) Firefox freeze when watching video

I'm having crashes, more often in Safari, when I am watching videos from websites. It just happened with Jon Stewart and the Daily Show, so that was annoying. The pinwheel comes on, things freeze, then--poof- and the "do you want to make a report" message comes on. I don't know much about what I am doing, so simple, clear advice would be more helpful.
    Thanks!

  • Mac/Browswer crashes when watching videos online (flash/silverlight)

    Hi,
I've had this problem for a little while, and I'm not sure what exactly it is. Sometimes when I view a video online, whether it's Flash or Silverlight, Hulu or Netflix, the video will crash. Sometimes it's just the video, other times it's the browser, and other time it's my Mac. I've tried this on Chrome, Firefox and Safari, and it happens on all three. I thought it might be a video card issue, but I can play that are on a drive fine, and it doesn't happen when I'm editing video with Adobe Premiere.
    Any suggestions?

  • Mac Freezing when watching fullscreen videos

    Hello,
Whenever I watch a flash movie (like Youtube) and set it to fullscreen my mac's screen freezes. I can still hear the movie's audio (that is playing) but can't do anything (not even use Force Quit). I can sometimes move my mouse around but no matter what i do (click, drag, etc) the computer does not respond. Some seconds later, the computer automatically log's out and i'm in the login window (and at this point i can use my mac normally).
Can someone please help me solve this problem?
    Thanks

    Ok...
Try emptying the Safari cache. From your Safari menu bar, Safari / Empty cache or Command + Option + E on your keyboard. Restart your Mac.
Try a video.. If it still freezes, login to another user account on your Mac. Try Safari there.
If videos freeze there, that can be an indication that the startup disk needs repairing especially since you mentioned this: *I can sometimes move my mouse around but no matter what i do (click, drag, etc) the computer does not respond.*
Follow the instructions here for Using Disk Utility to Verify or Repair Disks

  • Mini ipad keep freezing when watching movie, please help!

I cannot watch movie on my mini ipad. It freeze every one or two minutes and I have to keep push pause and play.
Please let me know what I have to do.

• MBP 2012 or 2013 screen freezing when watching youtube

i have a huge problem, i think its happening when streaming videos but i cant quite pin point it. my computer will freeze up to the point of not being able to do anything so i force shut down then reboot and once in a while when trying to reboot the front light will turn on but the screen wont, then will beep three times pause then repeat, this will happen until i force shut down again. it happens at totally random times, i can never predict it or pin point the exact cause because of the randomness. i have contacted apple support and still waiting for a responce just want to seek some community input.

    Hi tonynz,
If you are having reoccuring full system freezes on your MacBook Air (no spinning wheel, no mouse control, etc), you may find the following article helpful:
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."

  • Freezing when watching photo cd

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro 13, Feb 2012 version. It is pretty quick but everytime i insert a photo cd and try to browse through the photos on it my mac downloads a few photos but then the dreaded wheel comes and the cd stops spinning. it stops downloading photos and i have to restart my mac to eject the cd.
Does anyone else experience the same problem? Is it my mac or is it the cd?

I watched a couple of episodes of modern family, better off Ted w/o issue.
Watched several episodes of soap through netflix w/o issue.
Try deleting the apps from the device and iTunes-redownload.
Have you watched any video from iTunes or YouTube?
