Picture from Video

Hey everyone, I have a video that has a really good scene. I would like to pause that video on a certain spot and save that image as a photo to put in iPhoto...Is this do able and if so how? Thanks for the help!

This is one of those times when QuickTiime Pro is handy. (A $30 upgrade of QuickTime Player, from Apple.)
• Locate the target clip in your "iMovie Events" library.
(The easiest way to locate the clip is to Control-click on the Event Clip or project clip and choose "Reveal in Finder".
• Open it in QuickTime Player.
* Go to the frame you want to capture.
• Choose File > Export.
• In the first popUp menu the bottom of the export dialog window, choose "Movie to Picture".
• Choose "Photo - JPEG" from the second popUp menu.
• Assign a name to the export.
IMPORTANT: change the ".pct" file extension to ".jpg" or iMovie won't let you use it later.
• Import the new JPEG file to iPhoto...
Or...
• Move the JPEG file to any Finder photo you want to "share" with iMovie. Drag THAT folder from the Finder into the "Photos" list of the iMovie window. (Later, you can drop any other images in that Finder folder to access them in iMovie without going through iPhoto.)
It's a little more complicated than iMovie 6 but it has the advantage of delivering a high-quality image, a feature not available in iMovie 6.

How to print pictures from video

Does anyone know how you can print pictures from a video that is transferred from the iphone to my computer? I can print the first image at the beginning of the video, but when I try to print a pictures from a later from it doesn't do it. I hope someone can help. Thanks!

You mean videos you've recorded with your iPhone 3G S camera? It's easy: play it back in an app compatible with the videos and also having screenshot making capabilties.
For example, the free(!) and very nice VLC Player, which I prefer using for this, is compatible with these videos and can take screenshots (Video / Snapshot). This way you'll avoid the problems of invisible screenshots because of the video RAM issues with hardware acceleration.

Hi ya,
Pause the video and then tap the screen to make the pause/play menu disappear. Then press the home & lock button at the same time to make a screen shot.
The picture will be saved portrait and so you'll need to download the Photoshop app or something similar to rotate the image the right was up.

Download pictures from video ipod

I have a video ipod that I used to back-up all of my digital pictures. I hope this was a good idea because my wife spilled a cup of coffee and crashed the hard drive. Now that I have a new hard drive and have re-installed itunes, I don't know how to import the pictures back onto my (new) hard drive. When I connected the ipod it said that it was registered to another computer (however that computer no longer exist).
Can anyone help?

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. Taking a "picture" from video footage

Anybody know how I can take a frame from FCP and turn it into a picture for a thumbnail? Thanks!

You can click on freeze frame and it will make a still image in viewer. Sometimes the quality isn't very good but if it is just for thumbnail no worries. If you want a really good quality image, you have to export entire sequence uncompressed.mov and then open .mov in quicktime, make sure mouse is on image you want to to export as still frame and then click export for web. The still image will be in the folder it makes on your desktop.

Best settings for taking still frame pictures from video?

My project file has been converted to .avi and uses mp3 sound.
I like to take still shots from the action portions of the video,
but of the three options under frame hold: (hold on, deinterlace, and hold filters) which are the best to use?
are there other settings i should use when trying to unblur these images?

Just pause your timeline on the frame you want and click the 'Freeze Frame' icon.
Select Export from the dialog box that shows. You now have your typical file save box - select Settings.
Now use the drop down on 'File Type' and pick your preferred format. For a lossless image use BMP or TIFF.

I am trying to download my photos from my iphone to my mac-iphoto. It keeps trying but about halfway through it says there is an error with a photo therefore it wont download any of my pictures or videos. It wont tell me which picture is the issue.

I took a lot of pictures and video on my recent trip to Ireland. Now I am trying to download the photos and videos from my iphone to my mac - iphoto. I have tried 3 times and each time (at a different point) I get a message telling me that there was an error with one of my photos and it wont load the pictures. Help!!

Try using Image Capture to download to a folder on the Desktop. If there's a damaged file on the iPhone that's preventing the download you can isolate it with Image Capture and then delete it from the iPhone.

Having very difficult time transferring pictures and videos from iPhone 4s to Windows 7!

Hello, after spending over 6 hours trying to transfer all of the files from my 64 gb 4s I have finally given up and decided to seek help here because I have researched just about every help site and/or forum site and there just doesn't seem to be a logical answer.
First I tried using a program called "Phone to PC" and it would keep giving me an error that my iTunes was not open and it was clearly open. It asked me to restart my computer and try again and still no go!
Then I paid for an app called Photosync which seemed to work great at first but anytime a video would try to transfer 100/100 times it would error out towards the end of the file transfer saying that my WiFi connection lost when everything was looking good on my end.
Then I read a post somewhere to use drop box and I went ahead and paid the $9.99 price for 100gb and I'm literally transferring the pictures as we speak and the sad thing is that it is only uploading the pictures in my Camera Roll and not in my photo library.
So I have about 400 pictures in my camera roll and 4,149 pictures in my photo library. It seems as if I have no problems at all getting the pictures from my camera roll but for the life of me I cannot get to the photo library.
When I click on the iPhone from "My Computer" the only files that show up are my camera roll.
I can't believe I am having such a hard time getting these files transferred! I damaged my old laptop that had all those pictures on it and went and bought a terabyte to back everything up on in case I lose my iPhone and I have wasted almost an entire day trying to figure out and I cant seem to find any answers.
Could someone please make me feel like the biggest idiot and tell me there is an easy way and that I was just completely blind???
These pictures mean so much to me...most from my wedding, honeymoon, birth of my son, and my sons whole first year.
The videos are equally important as the videos are the reason for my 64 gb only having about 4 gb left

Have you tried transferringing the videos via usb (sinc you're having trouble transferring them with PhotoSync) as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 and just transferring the photos with PhotoSync?

Pause the video where you want the clip then use shift+command+4 to get a cross hair selector and drag that across the part of the screen you want to capture, it will be saved as Screenshot_date_time to your Desktop

I have just went to the Apple Retail Store and purchased an HDMI adapter that plugs into the bottom of my iPhone 4. When I asked the sales person if I could watch the videos and pictures from the camera roll I have taken on a T.V. he said I could.

I have tried to watch the videos and see the pictures from my iPhone's camera roll on a televison but it is not working. It is like nothing is connected to the T.V. set. I have tried with cables that attach to the bottom of the iPone. I have used an HDMI cable and a component cables on two seperate Televisions. How is it supposed to work.
I plugged the HDMI cable into the HDMI #4 jack into the T.V. and turned on the iPHone and watched the camera roll on the iPhone bu tnothing appears on the T.V. screen. What would have to be adjusted to view the pictures from the camera roll on the T.V. screen. The same thing happend when I used "Composite to iPhone" cables to a different T.V. I even tried with and iPhone 3GS, still no display on the T.V. screen.

How to export Videos and Pictures from the iPhone 4 to my PC

maybe this question will have a simple answer, but finding this answer seems to not so simple...at least for me...
I have several 100 photos and some videos (made by the iPhone 4) on my iPhone 4.
I want to export some fotos and also a video to my Windows PC to give these files to friend. For example the video is to long to send via Email. I would like to burn the files on a disc.
How can I export these files to my PC?
I tried to use a SW called ifunbox, but this SW always closes with an error message before even starting up.
I also found some information about copying pictures and videos directly to the PC via the Windows Explorer. Unfortunately my iPhone 4 is not listed in the Windows Explorer and I can not find the iPhone via the device manager...
Can anybody help me?

Your friend may have placed the ipod next to an object that repeatedly pressed the screen. Under certain circumstances this can lead to what appears to the iTouch to be failed attempts to access the system. After repeated failed attempts, the Touch increases the waiting time required for the password and may ultimately lock in the way you describe.

You cannot use Apple TV.. again the TC is not a media device and has no media extensions.
You can store video files on the TC.. but the ATV must work either via airplay so you run the video on an ipad for instance and send the screen view to the apple tv or you have itunes running on a computer.
BTW a WD live TV can play video files from a TC.. because it is a true media player.. the Apple TV is not a media player.. it is a streamer.
