You are right! I missed the iOS bit. But, as they say, you can get there from here...
on your iPad/iPod/iPhone using Pages for iOS do the following:
1. Select the image
2. Tap the Styles Menu (Brush)
3. Tap Arrange > Wrap > Move with Text > set to ON
The image will move with the text after this, just as in Pages for OSX.
Good Luck.

I publish a 41mb InDesign newsletter monthly into interactive pdf. It always becomes a file size of 4mb, 10% of original, when I save to pdf. This month my newsletter is 41mb and it drops to 11mb, 25% of original. I have re-sized all pictures, deleted pages separately, have gotten the file size down to 16mb and it drops to 7mb, 45% of original.
I have gone back and saved Feb and March and it saves to 10% of original, as it did before, and I use the same mechanism to save now.
I have gone to Acrobat Pro and optimized down to 8.8mb, but the quality is not acceptable.
What other variable is there that I haven't discovered?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Editing pictures in Pages

Hey everyone I'm new here...and a newcomer to Macs as of a few months ago!  I know there is a way to edit pictures in Pages, but I can't remember how... Right now all I need to do is take a color picture and turn it into a black and white silhouette, but it would be nice to know where to go to edit! Thanks!

This forum is for the MacBook Pro.  Please take your question to the iWork Pages forum.

  • How can I print more than one picture per page?

In the previous edition of iPhoto I could print several pictures on one piece of photo paper and not have to waste one whole piece of paper on one small picture.  The latest version seems to print one photo in the middle of the page.  How can I chane that?

Start the print process and click on the Custom layout.  At the bottom you can set the size of the image desired and see how many photos can be placed on the page size selected.

  • How can I get the frame option that diffuses the edges of a picture in pages 5.2

I recently updated to Pages 5.2 and have discovered that my favorite and most used framing option is no longer a choice.  How can I get the frame option that allowed you to diffuse the edges to soften a picture edges on 5.2?

That is called the vignette, and yes Apple has removed it from Pages 5 along with 100 other features.
Pages '08/'09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder so use that.
Be aware that Pages 5.2 is not only short of features it is also buggy and prone to leaving you with files that won't open.

  • How to write text over a picture in Pages 5.0?

In a Pages 5.0 document I want to write a text over a picture. This text will allways stay 'behind' the picture.
I can change the order of the picture (in front of at the back), but the text will not become visable.
It did work in Pages '09...
    What am I doing wrong?
    For for helping me...

Assuming your text is in your document, and you insert a picture. While the picture is selected, you will notice that on the right format panel, the Arrange tab has appeared. Select either Stay on Page, or Move with Text — depending on your image goal — and then look at the Text Wrap feature. By default, once you drop a picture into the document, it is set to Automatic. This means you can place your pointer in the image and just move it around, while text flows around it. The smaller the image the better the flow effect. This is a discussion about Pages v5.2.2, but it will work the same in v5.5.
Let's say you want the image flush aligned to the left margin, but want text to flow above, to the right, and below the image. Change text wrap automatic to Around, select the right icon for Text Fit, and adjust your spacing up or down for the proximity of the text wrap to the image. It looks like this with Text Fit spacing set to 9 pt.

  • Problem with pictures in pages 5 and epub

    Hello,
I have been using pages 09 to make epubs for the last 6 months with happy results.
My new macbook pro came in the mail and I have some problems.
I have figured out how to do all the text formatting, including titles/chapter names, etc. on pages 5.
    My problems is with pictures.
In the past, I would click view, then show invisibles, so I could see where the chapter marks are to insert my picture in a particular spot.
The old pages, was great, and the pic showed up right where I wanted it, and that was the end of the story.
New Pages, just throws the picture on the page and then forces me to select a variety of options as far as telling it how I want the picture to display.
This would be no big deal if I only had one or two pics to deal with, but I have tons of pics that need to be inserted in pages and exported to epub.
Does anyone know an easy way to tell pages 5 to just put the picture where I am telling it!
    Any advice would be appreciated.
Also, one negative on pages 09 is that you could only have a certain amount of pics/chapter, otherwise they would not show up in the exported epub.
Anyone know if pages 5 suffers from the same absurdity or if you can insert as many pics as you want/chapter.

Ok, I understand what you guys are saying.
    A related issue.
I had been using pages 4.1.
When I would take a pic plucked from a pdf and put it into pages and then exported to epub, it compressed the file about 80% like it should.
I ditched pages 5 and went to pages 4.3 (which looked identical to my old pages 4.1.
For whatever reason when I take the same pdf pic and put it into pages and export to epub, instead of compressing by 80%, it is actually expanding the file by 700%.
The original image is identical in both cases, but pages 4.3 doesn't compress upon export to epub.
    Any suggestions?

  • Why are pictures and pages missing from doc created in Pages 09 when I try to open it in the new Pages?

I created a large document earlier this year in Pages 09 ... over 100 pages and it has screen prints, pictures and text boxes ... when I try to open it in the new Pages 5.5.1, all of these pics, text boxes, etc, are missing!!!  I can open it in the old Pages, and they are all there, but in the new Pages, half of my document is missing!  I want to have it work in the new Pages because what if I upgrade to a new computer ... I will not have access to Pages 09 anymore!  Plus, the "Page Layout" option is missing in Pages 5.5.1 - what was Apple thinking with this update?  Please help!

Bean doesn't do layout and is no longer being developed.
MsOffice or LibreOffice [free] are alternatives but not at the moment 100% solutions.
MsOffice has most of the features in a clumsier fashion in most cases but is a bit of a kludge on the Mac.
LibreOffice has a rather rough user interface and still lacks Pages '09 features.
Really we are in Limbo until we get something else completely.
For office work, I suggest LibreOffice or NisusWriter. Just so you can still get at it in the future.
I have been warning about this inevitability for years. Hasn't made me popular.

  • How do I wrap text around a picture in Pages 5.5?

Using Yosemite, MacBook Pro (late 2009) Pages v. 5.5.  Previous version of Pages let me wrap text around pictures in newsletters.  I can't find this option or how-to anywhere in v. 5.5.  How do I wrap text around one side or another of an inserted picture?

Assuming your text is in your document, and you insert a picture. While the picture is selected, you will notice that on the right format panel, the Arrange tab has appeared. Select either Stay on Page, or Move with Text — depending on your image goal — and then look at the Text Wrap feature. By default, once you drop a picture into the document, it is set to Automatic. • Maximum number of pictures and pages in book?

What is the maixmum number of pictures you can use when ordering a book?
What is the maximum number of pages for each book you can have when ordering through Apple?
    Thanks

What is the maixmum number of pictures you can use when ordering a book?
Depends on the theme you choose - see Liz Castro's page for examples of each theme and all of the layouts available for each theme - http://www.lizcastro.com/iphotobookthemes/
So if you chose the picture book theme and choose to have 16 photos per page you could have 1600 photos in a book
On the other hand if you chose the folio theme then you would be limited to 200 photos in a book
What is the maximum number of pages for each book you can have when ordering through Apple?
    50 sheets of paper - 100 pages

  • How do I get text in front of a picture in Pages '09?

I have to put a picture as the background to a document. I've brought down the opacity but now I can't figure out how to get the picture to go behind the text. When I right click it there's an option to bring it forward or backward but it won't let me click it. Help!

    Hi Sarah,
    Select the picture.
Go Arrange > Send Objects to Background.
If you want the picture to appear on every page (of a word processing document):
Go Format > Advanced > Move object to Section Master.

  • Copy cells and past as picture in pages

How do I copy some cells that have calculations in them, then paste to Pages? In Excel when you go to paste, you get a menu paste as picture. Them you just get the cells as they look in Numbers. If you paste from Numbers it shows cell layout but the cells that have calculations in them only show a triangle error message. Any one know how to do this.

    Hello Badunit
I always get the red triangle when I paste in Pages a table or a piece of table embedding references to cells which aren't in the pasted range.
This why once I asked Apple to make a small change in Numbers:
Replace Paste Values Only by Copy Values Only
    With such change,
Copy - Paste in Numbers would not change
Copy - Paste Values Only in Numbers would be replaced by Copy Values Only - Paste in Numbers
Copy - Paste in Pages would not change
Copy Values Only - Paste in Pages would replace the trickery which we must use at this time.

  • Extract a picture from Pages 5.1

    How do I extract a picture from a Pages 5.1 document ?

When I copy on Preview, the quality gets lower.
When I drag the file from "File Info", in the Inspector, it doesn't take into account the Adjustments I made on the picture (saturation, temperature, ...).
    Launch Preview.
    Go File > Open
Locate and open the image file.
Use the Tools to adjust the image in Preview.
Press and hold option while you go File > Save as...
Change the name, ensure that "keep changes in original" is unchecked, change the location (if desired), click Save.
Or try much the same process using iPhoto.

  • Printing multiple pictures per page

just started working with iphoto. simple question that i can't seem to find the answer for. how do i print multiple pictures on the same page (ie contact sheet)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Go to the help menu in iPhoto and type in "contact sheet". One of the results you get should be this one: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/8.0/en/6438.html
Depending on what your end goal is you might find this help menu entry helpful as well: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/8.0/en/18460.html
If you are new to iPhoto consider reviewing the free video tutorials offered by Apple: http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials
    Hope that helps.

  • Cropping error with picture book page type 2

Hi, I'm trying to layout my first book in iPhoto and am running into a problem with one particular page layout. Whenever I have two tall pictures on a page, iPhoto chops off a large part of the side of the photo. If I select "Fit Photo to Frame Size" the photo is shoved to the edge of the frame boundary and still doesn't show the missing part of the photo.
Has anybody else run into this problem before?
    I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4 (263)
I have the same problem with both the classic picture book theme and the newer version.

    Eric:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are they both cropped to the recommended 4:3 book constrain? If they aren't that may be the reason. The frames are designed for 4:3 photos and will fill the frame precisely with them. If the photo is a different size one of the dimensions will suffer.

  • Getting the size of a picture in pages...how?

is there a way to tell the size of a picture in a pages document? Something like get info?
The only way I have found to do this is to drag it's icon from inspector to a folder and then look at it in finder to see its size.
    thanks
    bob

This is a flaw in Pages IMHO.
As for many things the information and manipulating the properties is oblique to say the least.
You have to do what you have done or do some calculations based on size, and known resolution.
A way around might be to tag the image in the name with the actual pixel size.
I work from my images marked in folders as vLoRes, LoRes, MedRes, HiRes, vHiRes and uHiRes.
Given a basic requirement of a bare minimum 100 pixels/cm (roughly 254dpi) for commercial reproduction the images will cover (with bleed):
    vLoRes = A7
    LoRes = A6
    MedRes = A5
    HiRes = A4
    vHiRes = A3
    uHiRes = beyond A3
But then I happen to be very systematic in the way I work. It is a useful skill I have taught in my studios. Unfortunately many designers, and users in general, are sloppy and short sighted.
