Picture Libraries empty in IE10

Recently upgraded to IE10 (on Win7) and noticed newer picture libraries on our site (SharePoint 2010 based) don’t show any content to anonymous users when you click on them.
Yet they’re just fine for anon users on FireFox and Chrome and IE9.
I created a new library to double-check – same behavior.
New lists or doc libraries work fine, its just picture libraries. Permissions are identical, and there is no custom code, just the SP defaults, although the older libraries were originally created prior to our upgrade to SP 2010.
See gn-npjointarchive DOT org, click Milw_Misc and RailroadForms on the left-hand side.
With users beginning to upgrade to IE10, this is a disaster in the making. Help!

My workaround is an "answer", I suppose, but is still a workaround.  I have since found more seriousIE10/SharePoint 2010 incompatibilities:  you can't edit a library item or upload a picture, for example, because the 'OK' button doesn't
work on editing pages.  We've had to switch to Firefox for many tasks.
Is the SharePoint team aware and working these issue with IE, or do we need to file bugs (and if so, where?).  Thanks.

Thanks a lot, Frank. The lsregister did the trick! I am testing this on 10.8.2.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24770 : I deleted the "com.apple.LaunchServices.plist", and restarted the Finder, even logged off and on again; did not change anything. The file has not been recreated, so it may not be used anymore.

The direct "copy and paste" from the post did not work: I had to retype it :
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
but then it worked like a charm!
    Cheers

And btw: I turned on the "-v" option for the lsregister to see, what was going on, and saw plenty of error messages (error -10811); so I repeated the command with "sudo". After that I still saw five iPhotos. Repeating as regular user finally got rid of the redundant iPhoto entries. It looks like registering as super user may be causing this trouble.

  • Can't See My Pictures--Just Empty Boxes

I just did a download of new pics from my camera to iPhoto. Somehow during the download I can't see my pictures in my library or in my albums. Just empty boxes show up. The count of the number of pics is accurate for both the albums and the library.
I restarted my computer, and rebooted with no luck.
I did a reboot holding down the "apple" and the "alt" key, and followed instructions, and still no pictures.
Any ideas of what I can do?

    Danny:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What do you see in the library, empty thumbnail spaces or empty edit windows? Is it all the photos or just some? Check in the Originals folder to make sure you have the full sized image files in the subfolders. They should all be there. Also do you have folder in the iPhoto Library folder titled "Recent Imports" or something like that?
Do you have a backup copy of the iPhoto Library folder or the iPhoto library database file, Library6.iPhoto?
If not and since you've tried rebuilding the library with no success you're going to have to start with a new library and import the image files from the Originals folder of the current library. Here's how:
Creating a new library while preserving the rolls from the original.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same rolls as the original library. However dates on the rolls may be different but can be edited as you would the roll title.
Once this is completed you can delete the Originals folder from the desktop and the iPhoto Llibrary folder. If desired, you can keep the older library folder to try other fixes on it.
In the future I recommend you make a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto file after each import and after doing a lot of editing and organizing in the library. Then if you experience a similar crash all you need to do is replace the damaged database file with the backup copy and you'll be back to the same place in the library as when you make the backup. See the tip at the end of my signature.
If you have a recent backup copy of the library post back and we can go from there.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • No pictures - just empty frames ???

Just got our imac back after getting superdrive replaced (yet again !!!) - opened iphoto, and ALL of our pictures are showing up as empty frames. Still with info such as size and name etc, but just an empty frame. Editing and resizing doesnt help. Any help please?

Have checked as you suggested and this is what is in the pictures/iphoto library :
    2006
    AlbumData.xml
    Dir.data
    iPhoto.db
    iPhoto.ipspot
    iPhotoLock.data
    iPod Photo Cache
    Library.iPhoto
    Thumb32.data
    Thumb64.data
    ThumbJPG.data
The 2006 folder has just 1 picture in it - the one i experimented with (it shows up in iphoto no problem). So it looks like they didnt back up any info (i dont know if they were asked to or not). Iphoto photo library still says we have 5000+ pictures for example
    /Users/sharronandian/Pictures/iPhoto Library/2006/01/26/IMG_0125.JPG
so the path is still there but the actual file is not - correct?
Ok - some more info i can provide. My wife backed up our photo library before the mac went away (phew - god luv 'er) and the photo library is on an external hard drive - so i guess my next question is do i reinstall the library on to iphoto? and if so, how?
    Thanks

  • SharePoint Picture Libraries How to Remove Folder

    Dear MS Partner Support,
I can't seem to delete this folder from this picture library any help would be appreciated...please see attachment below:
    Alex Samol

You can modify the "All Pictures" view by setting it's style to "Basic Table", then add the "Name (linked to document with edit menu) field. Then you get the context menu to delete the folder. Alternatively, you can create a new view with these settings.

  • [Tip] Managing Pictures libraries

    Hi
Maybe everybody already works like that, but i give you a tip i imagined.
Instead of creating subfolders in /images/ to store our own images, i created a specific pagegroup, with only images in it, and all my portal pages use those images.
Thus, images management is much more easier as we can use all the portal document management features (versions, approbations, images properties, etc ...).
In a page, when i need an image, instead of uploading it in the DB via the "browse" button, i use the second input box and pass parameters like "/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/IMG/my_image.jpg".
    A.

also, when you update an image in your specific pagegroup, all the pages using it are automatically updated. It won't be true if one use's the "browse" button ...

  • Deleted pictures and emptyed trash

how to get them back? can i do it myself?

Maybe.  Stop using the drive immediately, before they're overwritten.
    See Data Recovery.
Also, start making regular backups, so the next time this happens, you can just restore them.  You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Is there a way to empty "deleted pictures folder"? i dont want to wait 30 days

the deleted pictures folder empties after 30 days but I want to empty it now. Is there a way to do this?

Only if this program can get it out of recovery mode.  However, I doubt it.

Otherwise you will have to restore which erases the iPod.  Are pictures in the backup?  If so restor from backup.

  • A FIX for iPhoto 11 opening older libraries

Had the same problem everyone else has had. Then I was thunk in the forehead by an obvious trick. I use iPhoto Library manager. I opened IPLM and and clicked on the icon for creating a NEW LIBRARY (upper left corner of IPLM screen). I named it TestLibrary. I then launched this new file from within IPLM -- and iPhoto 11 (v 9.1) opened! That is, the app opened with a new library that contained no pictures. I dragged a couple of test jpg's into the library. Then I quit and reopened TestLibrary several times, to make sure I wasn't counting my chickens too soon. TestLibrary opened fine each time. I then quit IPLM and went directly to my picture libraries in the Pictures folder and launched them from the finder. EACH AND EVERYONE OPENED! They not only opened but iPhoto 11 performed the "update" function very quickly, even on the larger libraries. Again, I quit and reopened the files several times to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
I suspect the IPLM manager may be partially culpable. I note that many people who posted this problem also use IPLM.
FYI: I figured out this fix while standing here at a counter in my local Apple Store (Leawood, KS). The floor sales rep who tried to help me earlier -- a cute and very friendly blonde with a killer smile -- had no idea about the iPhoto problem. But she was very kind and took my emil address and set me up for a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow. I'm looking all over the store now for her. nowto share my success -- but she has wandered off. Rats. She really is cute; I'm single. Which is none of your business. Where was I? Oh yeah. Before Ms. Cute saleswoman wandered off and aftyr my heart rate returned to normal, I decided to experiment a little more. That's when I came up with the idea of using IPLM to create a blank new file. Getting ready to leave now. ..... NEW UPDATE: I finally spotted the very nice (and very cute) Apple saleswoman who had been helping me. Some other customer was flirting with her, pretending that he didn't know a thing about his new laptop. Rightttttt... I interrupted and asked her for a dance. Just kidding. I told her I had fixed my iPhoto libraries. She smiled, nodded, said "GREAT!" I melted. I offered to hang around a few minutes in case she wanted to come over and see how I fixed iPhoto. While waiting for her I thought I should type this and post it on the Forum. The very nice (and BEYOND cute) saleswoman still hasn't stopped by yet. I will wait a few more minutes. I'm in love. But the store is very busy. I will wait a few more minutes. I am realllly in love. Did I mention she was cute and very polite? Gotta go now. Perhaps Ms. Cuteness and I will meet in another time, place or dimension. After all, she has my name an email address. Maybe she'll send an email later and ask me for a date — strictly for professional and technical information purposes, of course; to find out how I fixed the iPhoto problem so that she can share it with other staff and customers. She probably won't, which means other Mac owners who wander in today with the same iPhoto problem will also fall in love with Ms. Cute but they won't learn a darn thing about my iPhoto fix. That kind of customer relations conduct would normally make me very angry. But nothing is normal anymore. It's hard to be angry when you're madly in love. -- David

    iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -
Update 10/24: I released a quick 3.5.8 update yesterday, which doesn’t yet provide full iPhoto ‘11 compatibility, but does provide a couple improvements for iPhoto ‘11 users, including a fix for those experiencing the issue of being unable to reopen a library after upgrading it to the new iPhoto version. If you have such a library, simply open the library up via iPLM, and you should be prompted by iPhoto to upgrade the library again. Once it’s complete, you should then be able to close and reopen the library normally.

  • Picture Library : upload image with same name overwrite the image in thumbmail or WebVersion view but not the actual image link points to the old image

    Hello,
I am facing a wired issue with Picture Libraries in SharePoint.
We created a custom field and added it to UserInfo list, the column based on custom field lets user upload their personal images to a Picture Library with the name <User ID>.<Image Extension> e.g. 1.jpg where UserID is internal Listitem ID of the UserInfo list and set its URL to the field value which we use to display the image on our custom user profile and some other WebParts.
If the user uploads a different image, it will overwrite the existing one it keeping the same name.
The field worked perfectly with sites using widows Based authentication, but as we move the field to sites with form based authentication we find that the field is able to upload the image properly first time but on each successive upload, although a new image gets uploaded with the name userid.imagextension and is shown in the allitems.aspx page in the thumbnail view and in the picture preview on the dispform.aspx page, but the link next to the name field and the image shown on clicking the preview points to the old image.
    To put it other way
    https://<Web URL>/Picture%20Library/_w/Upload_jpg.jpg
    https://<Web Url>/Picture%20Library/_t/Upload_jpg.jpg
    Would show the updated image
    but the actual URL
    https://<Web Url>/Picture%20Library/Upload.jpg
    points to the old image
what’s even more strange is that even after deleting the image the url still shows the old image at
    https://<Web Url>/Picture%20Library/Upload.jpg
I confirmed the same by actually repeating the same exercise on a picture Library in the User Interface
Uploading an image say upload.jpeg in the picture library using SharePoint interface.
Then uploading a different jpeg image keeping the same name upload.jpeg again in the picture library.
In allitems.aspx thumbnail view and on dispform.aspx page preview filed image now show the newly uploaded image but when you click the preview image or click the link in the name field value it takes you back to the old image.
I have seen this issue on environment where we have enabled form based authentication and the issue is not seen on another server where we have wss with windows based authentication.
Has anyone noticed such behavior and is there any workaround to that!
    Thanks & Regards
    Saurabh Rustagi

    All,
    I had the same issue.
In my case, Blob Cache was enabled for the web application in which the image issue was occuring.
I cleared blob cache, and after doing a hard refresh of my browser, the correct image was then displayed.
To clear blob cache, do the following:
    Navigate to:
    http://yourwebapp:port/yoursite/_layouts/objectcachesettings.aspx
Select:  "Object Cache Flush"  and  "Force all servers in the farm to flush their object cache" check boxes
    Click the OK button
    Hope this helps.

  • IE10, Reader XI, Win 7 x64 - can't read pdf files in browser

    Hi,
As the title says, am using Reader XI, IE 10, Win7 x64.
Every time I click a hyperlinked pdf, I get a new tab and a black x in the top left corner.
Astonishingly this behaviour persists if I disable the pdf reader add-ons (i.e. pdf's are not launched in a stand-alone reader!_
Here's the catalog of things I have tried:
    1. Reinstalling Reader XI.
    2. Uninstalling Reader XI, installing Acrobat Pro XI (same result).
    3. Disabling all non-Adobe add-ins
    4. Disabling all adobe add-ins to force pdf launch outside of browser (didn't work).
    5. Going into Preferenced in Reader to stop browser loading of pdf's -- the option has been removed from XI.
    6. Following all registry checks in the Adobe Q&A.
    7. Toggling "do not save encrypted pages to disk" in IE10
    8. Toggling "protected Mode option" in IE 10.
    9. Toggling "Show Pictures" check box in IE10.
I've run out of ideas! H-E-L-P. If you can't assist with the root problem, perhaps directing me on how to allow pdf's to launch outside of teh browser -- would be great!

  • Picture Library Slideshow Web Part - Is it possible to switch between two image librarys in one slideshow

In our office we have a screen at the front desk that runs a PP slideshow showing welcome messages to guests arriving.
SharePoint may not be the solution, but the overall objective is to find a way to have a library of X number of photos (say the library size is 30 images) and a separate library of X number of welcome messages (usually ~5 images).
We want the slideshow to randomly pull 5 images from the 1st pool and then play the images in the 2nd Pool.
Let me know if you have heard of a solution similar to this. Thanks!

    Hi Twirlz03,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to display teo picutre libraries in a picture slideshow web part in SharePoint 2010.
By default, one Picture Slideshow web part only display images fron one specifical picutre library, it is unable to apply for multiple picture libraries.
You can try to utilize Content Query web part to aggregate picture items from the site collection or site. However, you mean that you want the slideshow to randomly pull 5 images from first library and then play the images in the second library, I’m afriad
that it is hard to achieve it.
More information about aggregating picture items , please refer to section 4 of the link below:

  • Corrupt pictures

I just burned a disk of picutes from iPhoto 5.0.4, it burned just fine, but when I put the disk back in the computer to see the photos, there weren't any photos on the disk, just empty white frames. Also when I bring up some of my older albums from last summer there arn't any pictures, just empty white frames which eventually fill up with the photos, but if I try and do anything with the photos, like move them to another album or drag them to the desktop the pop up says that it is corrupt and can't read the picture. Other pictures in the album are ok. At one point I had tried to install the iMac, so I could use the mail system, etc. Got frustrated, so stopped it and it seems since that time that the photos that were in iPhoto at the time are the ones that are affected. All the photos that I have downloaded after that are fine. Is there anyway to get the older photos back? Thanks for any help. Wendy

    try the following codes
With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!
NOTE: In front of the hash key ( #) there is also a STAR key that people often miss and state that the code does not work.
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data) Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
    3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, /GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Picture Library jslink BUG

    Hello,
I have a picture library with a few pictures. Now I add this library as a web part to a totally blank page. It displays the default thumbnail view perfectly. I haven't changed anything yet. Now all I do is add a jslink to a js file that is on the server.
The thumbnail view of the picture library changes to an 'all pictures' view and NOTHING I do can bring it back. The jslink file has no errors. Even if I comment everything in the file it doesn't show me the thumbnails. As soon as I remove the jslink, the thumbnail
    view returns.
PLEASE HELP. I need to customize the look and feel of a picture gallery for a client and this isn't working.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to customize the look and feel of a picture gallery.
We can use JavaScript Client Object Model or REST API to get the picture data from the picture library, then use jQuery and CSS to achieve your requirement.
Here is an example for your reference:

  • Saving all iphoto libraries to external harddrive

    Hi,
I have been using iphoto for a couple of years now and find it good but it slows down my computer alot. I would like to save all the pictures/libraries to an external harddrive, but need to know how to do this - i have searched iphoto help but cannot find anything. We have over 10,000 photographs and lots more added each day (on average 300+). Thanks to all in advance.
    Hannah. x x

will it matter if the external harddrive is formated to ms-dos (fat32)?
Yes. iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.
if so, is there a way through disk utility to partition and re-format external HD without losing previous stored information?
I've no idea. I would post that one on the Using Mac OS X forum for your version of the OS.
