Picture looks like it has a heartbeat......help?

So I am using FCP HD on a G5.
I imported my film shots and all is well for like half of the project. Then about half way through this "heartbeat" emerges. Almost every second, on the second a little jerk happens to the picture. The audio is unaffected, thank God, but I am wondering what this is.
I exported the movie to Quicktime format, MPEG-4 codec for DVD Studio Pro - when I saw my Quicktime movie that I had exported, it contained this "beating". I exported at 24 fps. I am about to try to export the whole thing at 29.9 fps and see if it clears it up. The beating is not present in the original clips, nor did I see it on the actual FCP session.
When I burned a disk and watched the film on DVD, it was still present.
Does anyone know what this is? Has anyone else experienced this before? And if so, how do you solve it?
~Jill

Observations:
1. Why are you exporting to MPEG-4 codec for DVD SP? mpeg2/m2v files are required.
2. Exporting at 24 frames per second will not change interlaced footage to progressive footage. Why are you doing that?
3. Finally, if your source is 29.97, you should stay in that frame rate, and use Compressor to encode that footage to mpeg2 files.

Can't figure out why colors don't totally change when you select type with curser? It looks like it has by looking at it, but when you highlight the area after the old color is still there. It happens with objects to. Driving me NUTZ. Help!

Select the text, and open the Appearance palette (Come on guys, text highlight is irrelevant, it happens to objects too says the OP), and see what's listed there.  For a simple text object, there should only be a line item "Type", followed by "Characters", and when double-clicked the Characters line item expands to tell you the stroke and fill color.  For a basic object, there should be a fill and/or stroke.
What happens sometimes, is that you end up adding extra strokes/fills to objects or text, and the appearance palette is where that will be noted.  Especially when you are dealing with groups, and/or picking up a color with the eyedropper, you may inadvertently be adding a fill or stroke on top of something.  You can drag those unwanted thingies from the Appearance palette into its own little trash can.

  • Pictures look like they transfer via iTunes app window - but don't appear on iOS device

My pictures look like they transferred to iPad (the new) or iPhone (4) in iTunes (on the App page). I can see the files in the little app file share/transfer window, but the pictures do not show up in the iPhoto App on either iOS device.
Tried deleting the ios iphoto folder mentioned in a different post - did not help.
Deleted all pictures from the app window, and then synched, then tried putting in half as many (mostly because I didn't want to wait for a whole bunch to transfer like the first time ... still showing up in app window, still taking a long time to synch and saying that it is loading, and app percentage of disk space grows accordingly on device (in itunes monitor window). Go to iPhoto on device .... Only pictures are the ones taken by that device.
Photos in the sunflower still work like always, just can't use the cool iPhoto on any of my pictures not taken by the ipad or iphone!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!

This is happening on both the new iPad and iPhone 4.
I wrote under time pressure yesterday,  here is more complete history.
purchased iPhoto app on the New iPad, then plugged in, launched iTunes, went to App tab, went to File Sharing - selected iPhoto, Clicked Add... button, selected photos/iphoto ... used daisyA to select all and clicked open.
All photo names appeared in the iPhoto Documents box. Then clicked Sync button (3 hours later) Sync complete - all photos listed in iPhoto Documents box in iTunes. Memory indicator shows application consumption of memory has grown appropriately for having added all those photos.
eject and disconnect iPad .... no photos appear in iTunes except for those taken by the device. Did same  procedure on iPhone 4 .... same result. I can group, edit, view, and tinker with the photos taken by the device (ie iPhoto working as it should), however I can't see any of the photos from my long time iPhoto library not taken on this device that the iTunes file share window on the app tab says are there (and app memory usage also indicates are probably there).
Turned off both devices and then re-started -- no help
Soft reset both devices (dimple & power key, hold till restart happens) - even though the power down / power up should do at least the same thing.  No help
Deleted iPod Photo Cache in iPhoto app (home/pictures/right click iphoto show package contents ... )
    Synched again - no help
Deleted all pictures listed on app tab in file share window for iPhoto iOS app.
Synched - indicator for amount of memory used by apps decreases appropriately
Still can see and use photos taken by device and no others
Powered down then re- started device again.
Plugged in and open iTunes, use file share window on app tab to add just a dozen pictures this time (instead of all).  Then sync - Still cannot see the pictures in the iPhoto app on the device .... file share window on app tab of iTunes says they are there. Indicator for memory useage says they are there - progress bar during sync says they are being added, I just cant see them in the iPhoto iOS app when I click on the Photos selector in the iOS iPhoto app.
Photos are on the iPad and synching with the ipad from iphoto into the sunflower app that comes with the devices. Just won't go into iPhoto!

  • What app do people use to make their pictures look like this

what app do people use to make their pictures look like this?

Apparently redchainsaw answered back saying that wasn't it. Though looking at the pictures I see nothing odd or special about them.
With that said however, there are many image editors in the App store, and the Instagram App does have several filters you can apply to the photos.   So its very possible that is it.

iOS 7 Basically it looks like Apple has introduced globally a bug in their notification center software with no known solution, every app using notification center throws a pop up on startup.  All I find on this forum are overkill solutions like reinstalling/rolling back the os, which no real user should to be forced to do for a minor bug of this nature.

It throws a popup only the first time you launch the app, to confirm whether you wish to have notifications enabled for that specific app.

  • When printing a simple single photo, my picture looks fine until I press the print button, then the view of what it is going to print looks like it has zoomed in and cuts off part of my original picture.  This does this with every picture I try to print.

When I press print, it looks like it crops or zooms my original pictures and cuts it off, on the print view. Therefore it only prints a zoomed in partial picture?  Anyone else have this problem?

This usually occurs because you're printing a photo in an Aspect Ratio different from the actual shot. The Aspect Ratio is the shape of the photo, expressed as the length x breadth.
So, if you have - for instance - a 4:3 shot and try print that at  4:6 you will have issues.

  • Horrible colors in pictures..people look like they have sunburns!  Help!

Hey all, I was editing pics in Photoshop and noticed that the colors just seemed off...very "digitally" where you can see the pixels. When I hit "Proof Colors" in photoshop, the pixels dissapeared and the pictures look normal...what gives?
When i view the same pics on my old dell laptop, the pictures look normal as well..what gives? I noticed the problem is worse when the pictures already have a amberish tint to it.
I've already calibrated my screen using the Eye-One display so i can't figure this out..help!

Make sure that you haven't mistakenly changed your profile to ProPhoto RGB. ProPhoto can make skintones shot in sRGB look sunburned.
That can sometimes happen when importing through iPhoto, or when converting to ColorSync profiles in Photoshop.
    Good luck!

  • Is there a way to make a picture look like it is talking?

or do you have to use some outside software for this?
I have a picture I want to use in imovie and make it look like it is speaking to someone, I think I found some outside software, but was wondering if anyone knew how to do this with the software I have? (imovie, iphoto, photoshop elements) thanks in advance! Pete

I have the 99$ version of it, which has a feature called "rotoscoping" that lets you put audio in sync to a animation. I would highly recommend iStopMotion, as there are three programs for Mac in the animation category and iStopMotion is the best one, in my opinion.
As for your other question, I am using it on Snow Leopard and, aside from a couple small glitches, it works beautifully. The interface doesn't look like it came from Tiger-- it looks like it came from ten years into the future!
With iStopMotion, you can export your projects into Quicktime movies for later importing into iMovie, Final Cut Express, or Final Cut Pro. So you could make an animation with rotoscoping and then put it into iMovie to add titles or live action.
NOTE: Rotoscoping is only included with the 99$ version, but it's really worth it to make the upgrade.
Good luck in making your movie!

LMAO... yall need to learn how to couponNo need to learn here... I'm quite good at it.  Went to Belk yesterday, shopped for myself, and had coupons for everything (even one for an additional 10% off clearance). I got a fantastic deal (75% off or greater) for each item I purchased.  The lady that rung up my sale even seemed impressed. Don't even get me started with the grocery store... LOL. I should add that I'm a dude as well... and if I can do it, anybody can.    (Actually, I'm too darn poor not to use coupons - can't leave any $$$ on the table.)
AWESOME!  I suggest whenever traveling see if there is a RiteAid close by. And also the best grocery shopping is done at Schnuks, or Piggly Wiggly where they double or triple your coupons.  Remember extreme couponers? Yep, piggly is where they shopped! How many sunday papers do you subscribe to? Do you use livingrichwithcoupons database before buying each product? They have a great inventory thats easy to access.  Of course the regular sites like cuckooforcoupondeals totallytarget  krazycouponlady wildforwags etcI've learned from trial-and-error that some things are cheaper at some stores than others; for example, I tend to do really well with detergents and soaps at Publix (also double coupons 50¢ and under) when they run their buy-one-get-one (BOGO) specials.  My other local favorite is Kroger, which surprisingly beats Walmart on many of the items I shop for.  I have found the 'key' is you have to really know what stuff costs; it's impossible to take advantage of a good deal if you don't know the prices of the stuff you usually buy.  Years ago I was never concerned about prices on the 'staples', since they are necessary no matter what, but I learned I was missing out on specials by not paying better attention. Out of pure laziness I started getting coupons from a clipping service but quickly found out my 'laziness' was actually paying off because it was cheaper (for me) than buying two or three newspapers a week.  I can simply order as many coupons as I need for only the items I purchase, where otherwise I would be limited by the number of papers I purchased (and Sunday papers are pricey here).  Plus by using the service, you get them several days before they are in the actual newspaper as well. I also take advantage of the Walmart Savings Catcher (when I shop there) and the SavingStar app as well.  I've not found 'huge' savings from either, but having an occasional $5 or $6 to put back in my pocket for very little effort is nothing to complain about.  I've also found good deals at Target, specifically lately for my OTC Nexium by stacking both a store coupon and a manufacturer's coupon (I've stocked up), but I always buy myself a Target gift card from Kroger before shopping there, so I get the Fuel Points for the purchase as well as the 6% cash back using my Amex BCP.  I also buy myself Netflix and Hulu gift cards from Kroger for my own use, again for the Fuel Points and BCP 6% cash back (so far both are paid through nearly the end of the year). I'm quick to tell folks that being male doesn't mean you are automatically too ignorant/lazy/proud to use a coupon.  Actually, for me my credit card rewards activity is just an extension of this.  I've been teased that I can "squeeze a penny until it squeals", but I just say if you look after the pennies the dollars will take care of themselves.  Heck ya buddy! You are talking my language!!!!!!! The whole reason I wanted to get into this credit game was because of the extra savings and sign on bonuses! This was the missing puzzle piece to my frugality! lol. Yep you are right about pricing. Heck even the stock up price lists on the net seem high to me.  How big is your stockpile? I sadly only have two walls of a spare bedroom full of products. But its funny because people come over and ask if they can go shopping in my store! Lol. Do you have a gift stockpile yet? I love having a small selection of emergency gifts, gift cards (which I usually got for free anyway), cheap birthday cards, etc. Its basically a bunch of bath and body works outlet stuff for the women, and gift cards for everyone else. And I could NOT resist the amazing tv deals last year. 40 inch tv for $109, are you kiddin me? I got 6 of them and gave them as gifts. It was a super huge savings and made me look like Oprah!  A TV FOR YOU A TV FOR YOU A TV FOR YOU! My new thing was trying ebates. It was ok but I am finding there are better cash back sites.  Now slickdeals is the best because they have a price tracker and alert you can set for anything you want. I will say that certain times sams club can actually be a good deal. For their optical department (i take my whole family there), some produce, butter milk heavy cream, etc. I would NEVER buy paper products or detergent from them though...wayyyy to pricey. Yep I am cheap, I am wearing a pair of glasses that I got for completely free from Coastal.com boy did we love that promotion. First pair of glasses for free, no verification of RX, nothing! I originally wanted the BCP. That easy 6 percent..... but I realized that if you have the everyday preferred .... you can easily get 4.5 percent which could be worth up to 9 if you travel. Maybe some day...It looks like we're birds of a feather!  My stock pile isn't too large because unfortunately I'm severely limited on space, but I have the corner of a room pretty much stacked up... of course it looks like a mess but I know exactly where everything is within that stack  I usually buy birthday presents months early as I come across deals (I've got birthday gifts for a couple of folks who's 'special day' is still a few months out) but I've had to learn to hold back on buying for Christmas since I do have the 'space issue' to deal with, and also because I like to be able to give gift receipts when I can, and obviously that works better if you make the purchase closer to the holidays.  I think I tried eBates a while back as well, and my results were about the same as yours.  I don't mind doing something as long as it works, even if it's slow, but my purchase habits and eBates just didn't seem to line up if I remember correctly (it's been a few years...) Coastal is *fantastic*; I've used them for both glasses and contacts and at the time they couldn't be beat (I haven't had to order since last Summer).  If you use contact lenses, I found that if you order from a Canadian web site the prices are cheaper, since they don't seem to be bound by the same price floor that went into effect a year or so ago for American companies.  My contacts are $34.50/box from any store or website in the U.S. (prices are set nationwide by manufacturer now) but through the Canadian company I only paid somewhere around CAD$30-$31, which ended up being right at US$26/box at that time (used my Capital One card, no forex fee) and had free shipping as well.  The same day I placed the order I also ordered a two boxes from a U.S. company (at the higher price) since I was concerned about the larger Canadian order taking longer to process, ship, etc.  I was very surprised when my Canadian order arrived before the U.S. order did, until I realized the "Canadian" order was shipped out of Miami, Florida!  I researched a bit and found out the Canadian site I used has a 'sister' U.S. site that apparently handled the logistics of my shipment, but it was billed out of British Columbia in CAD at the reduced rate.  (Hint: I found out if you want to shop Canadian web sites it's easier if you use a VPN, since if your IP address is American many Canadian sites that have 'sister' sites in America automatically redirect you to the U.S. site  <arrr!>.)  Once you're "in", though, they have no problem processing an American shipping/billing address.  I ended up saving around $50 on that one purchase alone just by using a different web site. Contact lens solution and drops are a 'biggie' for me, as well as detergent and dish soap.  For example, the last couple of years Publix has run a BOGO on Wisk in February and again in August, so I am sure to have some good coupons around that time, and I get seven or eight to last me until it goes on sale again (I have come to realize I don't generally use but around six or so, so I've got a bit of a stock pile in case the sale is at a different time this year). I also check the southernsavers website to see what coupons are going to be coming up; the site is geared for the Southeast, but generally the coupons are said to be the same nationwide, with an occasional minor exception (the two clipping services I've used are both in TN, so the southernsavers website usually matches their availability).  Oddly, sometimes the coupon amounts vary from one service to the next, ex. the Wisk coupon from one clipping service will be for $1.50 off, and the other service will have the same coupon but for $2.00 off.  This doesn't happen too often, but I've seen it enough that I now check. It still surprises my family when I tell them I get the majority of my clothes from Belk.  They tell me they can't afford Belk, and I tell them I can't affort *not* to go there.  I got pillows for my bed for under $5 each (that's cheaper than Walmart), and I've got several Ralph Lauren Polo shirts that usually go for $80-$90 that I got for right at $20 each (again, a dress shirt from Walmart or TJ Maxx would cost around that much).  Another key I've found is you can't wait until you 'need' something to go out and see what's on sale/clearance; I usually try to stop by and see what's on sale every couple of weeks.  Many times I do a quick walk-through and don't buy a thing, but when I do see a deal, I take it.  I found this doesn't work if you wait until you have a need; for example last year I had to go to a funeral on short notice and I needed pants; I ended up paying more than I wanted, but I had to have them so there was no choice.  I can't get my family to understand that... it's not 'shopping', it's more like 'hunting'.  In the old days, if people were to wait until they were hungry before going out to hunt, there's a chance they might be hungry for a while.  I lean towards Belk because I have a credit account with them (one of my older accounts) and with their rewards you end up with a modest 4% back (you get a $10 voucher each time you spend $400; sometimes with bonuses you can get the voucher by spending less).  I could still beat this by doing the gift card thing at Kroger (they sell Belk gift cards as well) but the active Belk credit account gets me good coupons, and that's more than worth the 2% difference in cash back. At the end of the day, it's worth it to me to 'play the game' to get more for my money, but some folks (including some of my own family) just aren't motivated to search out the deals - this applies to credit card deals as well!  I wasn't blessed with wealth, but I do have patience and common sense (or so I've been told), so I just try to use what I have to work with I have found that if I stick with 1800 contacts, they will do the price researching for me, and basically match the price and shipping. I will have to check out this canadian site. Problem is, I was sleeping in my air optix for astigmatism and ended up getting bumps on my eye. So I switched to their dailies aquacomfort plus, which for 90 lenses costs around $75 a box. I try to wear glasses in between, and sometimes clean the pair once and wear a second day if it doesnt feel too scratchy. I wont be buying these dailies again as it was a one time thing to kill off this strange bump thing.   I have seen extreme cheapskates wear daily lenses for weeks and weeks. I dont know how their teflon coated eyes can tolerate that crap. They claim all the new lenses made in the last 5 years whether daily or extended or non disposable are are basically the same. I call BS on that one. I am still using my stockpile of Peroxiclear. They had this great deal at target around launch and after each transaction I was getting a catalina. I think I ended up paying like 83 cents per large bottle or something crazy! That is the one thing I hate about couponing unfortunately. Is the geographic thing. It will be a bad day for me when I will see regional deals that are just too far away! Do you have any trader joes near you?  Do you usually use things past expiration dates? There aren't any Trader Joe's around here, but I've heard good things about them.  As for expiration dates, I don't have to worry too much since the stuff I generally buy has dates that are pretty far out (usually a couple of years) but I'm generally not picky.  For example, if I were to find some expired Nexium I overlooked, I wouldn't hesitate to use it. It seems when they prescribe contact lenses it's pretty much trial-and-error, with the eye doctor basically selecting his/her favorite to start you off and then making adjustments from there.  I was using Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism (weekly), and while they were OK for a day or two, by day three they felt gritty no matter how much I rubbed on them or what solution I used.  Peroxiclear did help a bit (I also stockpiled it from Target ) but I generally gave up and just went to my glasses at that point.  Last fall I asked my eye doctor if I could try the daily wear (Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism) and he told me they would cost more but I was welcome to give them a try.  All I can say is it was a HUGE difference... and for me they actually work out to be a bit more economical than the weekly's, if you can believe that, mostly since I was only getting three uses out of the weekly to begin with (the Canadian website also helped).  My lenses come 30 to a box, which comes out to less than $1 each.  I previously paid $40+ for a box of six of the weekly's, and sometimes wore them as little as two times (!) before having to go to the next lense. When I first switched to daily wear, I 'experimented' with reusing them and found that I could easily use them twice if I used the Peroxiclear (since I have quite a bit of it).  However once you figure in the (regular) price of the Peroxiclear I found I really didn't save that much, so I tend to just use them as they were designed.  (This being said, if you have 'tons' of Peroxiclear, it might be worth a shot once your eyes heal).  What definitely does *not* work (for me) is leaving them in the Peroxiclear for longer than overnight... ouch! Since the manufacturers banded together and set rules on the contact lense prices they all (are supposed) to be the same now (I think it started last summer).  On my prescription I checked with Coastal, 1-800-Contacts, even Walmart back in the Winter... they were all identical in price.  They can't even offer coupons; the only promo they are now permitted is free expedited shipping.  But, just a few days ago I read where a lawsuit filed by 1-800-Contacts was cleared to continue in Utah, so it's possible this could be changing <fingers crossed!>.  If you do check the Canadian web sites, you'll want to check more than one since the prices can 'swing' a bit from site to site. At times I have fits with dry eye; if only there was a daily wear designed to deal with that!  Yes! The clear care and peroxiclear and generics are all really strange. They either work amazingly well or bad. I have found no matter what I do, that getting the big bottles of saline helps. If I am using a rub solution, I always rinse with saline instead. And any time I take out leanses from a pack I always rinse themin saline. Or out of the peroxide solutions. Have you considered asking for a free pair of Air Optix? If you have astigmastim, these are awesome. They feel super thick at first but eventually feel just like your eye. Wind wont bother you as much either. In fact, these are so good, they are the reason my eyes got into trouble, sleeping in them for too many days, etc. Worth a shot.
