Picture Movie

I'm surprised this problem is presenting difficulties, seeing as the goal I'm trying to accomplish is so simple. All I want is to make a movie composed of ONE picture, with music playing in the background. However, the moment I import the image, there is a notable drop in quality. By the time the video has been exported for use on Youtube, the degradation is severe. How can I add this image without losing quality (it is a TIFF file)?

There's not much to say - the resolution is 72 DPI, the dimensions are 640 x 360; the normal video player size. It wouldn't be a problem to save it in a different format, if that would help at all.
Here's what seems to be happening: in iMovie (I'm using '08 by the way, I accidentally posted this in the '09 discussion area), I can only adjust the aspect ratio, not the actual dimensions. The widescreen dimensions that iMovie chooses are much larger than the dimensions of the image. Therefore, the image is scaled up to fit. Then, upon export, it is scaled down again, causing the degradation.
Any ideas?
(By the way, how would I use Quicktime Pro in this scenario?)

    Is there a way to Quickly organize, consolidate & save the Original (Pictures, Movies, etc.) yet delete all duplicate (Pictures, Movies, etc.)?

    I wanted to first thank you for this, as this is the only workaround literature that seems to be floating around out there.  With that said, I know it is a big ask, but is there any way that you could create a video showing step by step how to do what you do?  I have several tracks that are stuck in waiting mode, and if left in itunes, will never upload or match...they only cause the upload process to hang up and restart.  I've tried leaving it for days...I've tried converting the files, signing in and out of itunes (and itunes match), updating itunes match, and I tried your technique...unfortunately to no avail.  Perhaps I didn't do your technique correctly.  I used audacity to reverse the audio.
    ANY help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
    Thanks

    iMac with 256ssd and 2t hdd. Should the admin/user folder and all of its sub folders be moved to the hdd or just parts of it? (eg. picture, movies, documents)  What is the best way to go about doing this.  Also should a 2t hdd be partitioned.

    Yes, you can move your user directories to the HD and keep your OSX and Applications on the SSD drive.
    Whether you partition your HD or not depends on how much data you have and how you propose to use your HD.
    Are you planning to use your iMac as a Time Machine backup volume? If so, partition it off.
    Do you have huge data files, eg video, music, photos?
    How much of your 2tb drive will be "free" once it is loaded with all your data?
    A little more information is required before the optimal configuration can be recommended for your use.

  • How to have pictures move.

    Usually when I add a picture to my movie, when I hit play the pictures move, and I love that. Now when I have been adding them, they are added as stills. How do I change it back so that they can move?

    Hello, i-movie,
    Welcome to the discussions.
    You must have turned off the Ken Burns effect on one of the photos you imported. Then, from that point on, all your stills will be imported with the KB effect off. If you click on the little crop icon on top of one of your imported photos, you will see the options to 'Fit' 'Crop' or 'Ken Burns' and you can click on KB to create/edit the effect.

  • How can I fix my shaky transitions and picture movements??? PLEASE HELP!

    A very bizarre thing has happened to my project. I made a documentary so my project consists mainly of still images that either zoom in or zoom out and between every picture there is a cross dissolve transition. What's weird is that once I exported it to quicktime, the transitions got shaky (in other words, instead of smoothly dissolving from one picture to the next, the pictures would shake slightly). Also, on some pictures I have the picture start out still then zoom in then become still again. When I do this the screen almost jumps when it starts to zoom in.
    What's even MORE bizarre is that once i burned this project (using iDVD) and watched it on my television, the quality was horrible whenever the pictures were moving (the pictures would shake up and down very fast). But once they stopped moving, the quality got better. What's weird about this is that the transitions don't shake and the pictures don't jump on the burned version.
    Basically what I want to know is how I can fix this. I don't want to go through all my pictures and take out all the movement because 1) that would take me a year and 2) the movie looks better with the movement (if only it worked).
    Please help!! I have a showing of this documentary in a week!!

    Are your photos in .jpg format or .tif? I did get those "shaky" transitions but it seems to have been resolve (with me) when I converted them to .tif.

  • Picture / movie clip question

    I might be buying a Macbook in the next few days but I was wondering if I can mix pictures and videoclips on the same DVD when burning. I'm currently using DVD Maker for Windows and I'm able to put in a few pictures, followed by a clip and then more picrures, etc... Just want to know if I can do the same thing with the ILife software...
    Thanks!

    Absolutely! You can make iMovies with both video clips and still photos and put it into iDVD. You can also make slideshows in iPhoto and import into iDVD. You can even put videoclips into iDVD in the slideshow well and burn your movies that way.

  • Picture moves down in IE7

    Hello
    I am new to this forum and to Dreamweaver CS4. My website displays properly in Safari, Firefox and Chrome but with Internet Explorer 7 the images all move down past all text and leaves a huge whitespace area above each picture. Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated.
    My site is

    Thanks

    .thrColFixHdr #mainContent {
    border:1px solid red;
    margin:0 260px;
    padding:0 10px;
    width:500px;
    On that rule you have appled margin in such a way that you are asking for zero top and bottom and 260px left and right.  I think that you only need that margin on the left to push it out from under your side panel.

  • Picture movement

    I'm trying to work out a way to have a picture on the page
    move as you scroll down, without having to use a frame, which takes
    up the entire left side of the page. Instead I just want a small
    picture moving as you scroll. Thanks!

    If you need the code, use Jo's URL posted - but, why are you
    going to do
    that to your users? It's just annoying...

  • IMovie won't export a 3 picture movie (no video)

    Having problems with my mac recently (actually my wife's mac).  For years she has been doing movies with iMovie and iDVD and loves it overall.  However, on her recently new (month old), she has a Macbook Pro, 16 gig ram, 2 gig video ram 750gig flash SSD drive storage, OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 latest patches, etc.  She for some reason can NOT do an export of a movie.  It is complaining about not enough memory.
    So, from other posts, I did the sodu purge as admin user and cleared the memory file cache that was 6 gig... brought it back down to about 500k -- more reasonable.  I then started iMovie to publish and it still failed.  As soon as iMovie started, the file cache kicked back up to 3 gig which does not make sense.  So I exited iMovie, re-purged and restarted iMovie.
    I then created a new project.  Put 3 single pictures in it -- no video at all.  Then did publish and it nagged again about not enough memory.  I even had the export down to mobile device output for smallest possible (vs HD1080 format).
    It is like it has something permanently stuck in its craw and won't let go.
    Now, another few things... I have done a full logout AND full shutdown SEVERAL TIMES and it still won't allow a published export.
    Please help !!

    iMovie is part of iLife. It should be on the #2 gray instalation disk that came with your MacBook
    While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use iMovie. There's an iMovie Support Community where everybody uses iMovie. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/imovie

  • How can i delete a corrupted picture/movie?

    On my iPhone I have since quite a while a movie with 0 sec that is only shows with the dotted frame you usally get in iPhoto with photos that are not linked anymore. If I import photos from my iPhone to my mac I always get the message, that "movieABC" could not be imported because the file is unknown. But I cannot delete the file. I can activate it but cannot delete it. Any clue?

  • Picture movie made on window movie maker help please

    I have made a short movie on windows movie maker and i would like to put it on my ipod classic but don't no how to do this can some one please advise me on how this can be done thanks

    First you must import it into iTunes.  From there, set it up to sync to your iPod via your iPod's Movies tab.  You may need to convert the file to a more friendly iTunes format first using a file conversion application such as Handbrake or MPEGStreamclip.

  • Can I make wrapped pictures move relative to text?

    I really like the controls Pages gives about how images are treated in the document text (text wrapped around, text above/below, etc.)
    But, I run into a problem when I add text above the image, and it moves the text that was related to the embedded image. So, I have to re-align all the images to match up to the text again. That process is usually repeated quite a few times.
    As the document becomes larger, the implications of inserting any text become even more severe.
    I'm sure there is a good way to handle this, but I have not been able to figure it out.
    Can I somehow attach the image to the point in the text where I place it, and have it move with the text?
    Or, do others make heavy use of page breaks to partition sections of the document?
    Any other suggestions?

    Todd,
    Using the Wrap Inspector, you can specify your object to be Inline or Floating. The terms may be somewhat difficult to grasp at first, but you will soon see the difference. If the text flows around your object when you add text above the object, and the object stays in the same position relative to the page, your object is Floating. If your object moves with the text, flowing downstream with it, your object is Inline.
    Try both and see how they differ.

  • Import pictures, movies/videos, and lyrics?

    how can I do all these??? any other software I have to download? or.. just use itunes? @@, thanks~

    you can do everything you need to do using itunes. when you plug your ipod into your computer, an 'overview' screen comes up in itunes, with several different tabs.
    photos - under the photos tab you can tell itunes which photo folder you want it to sync to your ipod. for most people it's easier to create a specific 'ipod photos' folder - where you put copies of any photos you want on it, then if you want to add/remove you just add/remove from that folder and next time you sync it will be automatic.
    movies/videos - they need to be in your itunes library, add them like you add music, then go to the appropriate tab on the overview screen and tick all the boxes
    lyrics - slightly different. you need to right click a track, go to 'get info', then go to the lyrics tab. you can then copy and paste the lyrics into the box provided. to access these on the ipod, when a track is playing, tap the screen.
    it's all in the manual, have you read that? http://support.apple.com/manuals/
