Picture on new 80gb ipod video, but no sound

When i tried to put some video's on my new ipod i first of all couldnt get any on but then once i did get one on (MIRACLE!) it had no sound?????????? HELP! it's my first ipod ive never used itunes before and i just wanna kill sumptin it's so frustrating!

been workin on this problem for hours now with no better result!

Formating videos for ipod- video but no sound!!!!!

ok i relize that a million questions have been asked about formating videos but i will make it million and one.
i have some vides that i made with windows movie maker and i also have some from DVD's. i read in another question to download video ipod converter, and i did i am just lil confuzed, i know my way around these programs so can some just tell me in lamins term like you are talking to an forgner tell me what steps i need to convert it and be able to have sound with movie. i have the 30g ipod english, itunes, ipod converter, i just need the help

OK as for your question, that is good. Itunes has the video and sound!
Here is how we fix this, (I hope, right? lol) do you have your Ipod set to Auto sync? You know it is on, when you cannot edit anything on your ipod, it just copies everything on Itunes!
Here is what you do if Auto-sync is on:
To turn auto sync off:
Attach Ipod.
Open Itunes
Click on you ipod icon (the little ipod picture under devices)
The third button down will say: “Manage all music and videos”
Click on the box and give it a, √
Now you HAVE to drag and drop things (music, video, etc.) in Itunes to your ipod. Itunes will not do it automatically anymore. But if your computer crashes, your Ipod will not delete all of its music if you attach it again (because there is no music on Itunes).
If you do not have sync on, write back and let me know. Auto sync is the main problem that cerate this.
As for your question about dragging files to Itunes, make sure they are MPEG-4 format (Quick-Time) or they will not drop into Itunes.

New 80gb iPod works, but not shown as a disk drive... help!

Hi,
My brand new iPod is not show as a disk drive, even though it shows on iTunes, and has been updated, synchronized.
Even after enabling disk use, it still isn't there.
It is on the device manager, and it says that the device is working ok.
I have restored the iPod, and rebooted several times, but i still can't use it as a hard drive.
Please can anyone help!

hmmmm. occasionally that behavior is a symptom of a Windows drive letter confusion. see:

Movies on a new 80gb ipod

does anyone know when i can download movies on my new 80gb ipod. The uk website says it not available yet, the american website won't let me

they haven't opened the UK movie store yet.. i think i heard its coming around christmas maybe even later? somebody will have to clarify that though..
so for now you'll only be able to get things you already own on dvd and rip them to your computer.. or you can find them somewhere else online, but then you will probably have to convert them to mp4..

Can dock connector from older iPod be used with new 80GB iPod?

I just purchased a new 80GB iPod after my old one (scroll wheel, 4 buttons) finally gave up the ghost. I know that I can't sync using the Firewire cable but I'm wondering if the original dock connector will work if connected to the new USB cable. Will I be able to use it just as a charging stand or will it allow me to sync as well?

The dock will work fine for both charging and syncing with the new USB cable, all the dock does is work as a souped up extension to the dock connector, as well as giving you line out of course. You may have a little trouble fitting your new iPod into the dock.
Despite being pretty much the same size as my 4th generation 20gb iPod, the dock connector was slightly further towards the front of my new 80gb one, so I couldn't get it in, and the squarer corners on the front didn't help either. At the moment I am using the dock adaptor supplied, balanced on the dock which does the trick, albeit slightly unelegantly. I haven't got around to looking for the 40gb dock cover that came with it, though I'm hoping this will be deep enough to fit in.
You'll need to use a (very) slim screwdriver or similar to prise the original fitting off the dock, but it can be done without damaging either if you take it slowly and carefully. There are clips of about 1cm in the centre of each side except the back. On the back there are clips of about 4mm either side of the slot that the cable goes into.

Unable to register new 80GB ipod

I just bought a new 80GB ipod. Believe it or not, but when I try to register it, it tells me "The postal code you entered is not valid for [?]."
I kid you not. This is despite the fact that the postal code is correct and I've tried it with and without spaces. No go.
Also, after hooking it up to the USB 2 card on my Win 2000 PC, Windows wanted to reboot after loading a driver. However, the Ipod displayed a message saying "Do not disconnect." I decided to reboot.
I mistakenly decided to let the Ipod autosynch with my Itunes library, which exceeds the 74 GB capacity of the ipod. It gave a message saying that the Itunes collection exceeded the storage capacity of the ipod but that it would load it up to full capacity.
According to Windows Explorer, the Ipod now has something like 72.6 GB of data on it, yet it still tells me "Do not disconnect." It's been on and connected to my computer for about 20 hours now.
I also bought the 2-year extended warranty. How do I get documentation from Apple, proving that I have this extra warranty?

I don't know if it's a known problem, but there were 2 others yesterday who ran into the same issue. One ended up just registering the product using this link rather than doing it via iTunes.

Converting video to IPOD 30g but the sound doesn't work

I have tried on various attempts to convert video to my 5th generation ipod. Using Quick Time version 7 and Itunes 6.04 doesn't convert the sound so I have video but no sound.
Is there any software I can use to convert the whole video to allow me to play it on my IPOD please

hi, i just got a new 80gb ipod for xmas, and when i plug the usb cable to my ipod, it connects sometimes, and sometimes doesnt, and when it does, it disconnects sometimes too, i usually have to keep moving into different usb ports and one will work, then not work again, then work again later. i even tried my friends cable and its the same thing, i think somethings wrong with the port in the ipod, can anyone help ?

Turn it off. If it got wet somehow, you may try drying your ipod off. The slow method would be a sunny window sill. You could use a hair dryer on LOW, pointing it at the contacts. When it drys out, charge itand try a hard-reset. If it still doesn't function properly.... ?

Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.

There's Video but no sound!

So i have some Tv show on my MacBook, and when i go to watch them there is video but no sound. Quicktime prompts me that i need to download a codec but not which one. Which onw do i need?

Tried that, it said i needed DivX, but i already have that. What else could i use?Try watching it in VLC. If it plays, check the audio info and see if it is more specific. What is the file extension -- .divx or .avi? What DivX component do you have installed? Do you have Mac "non-native" audio support (like AC3) installed? Until you can supply more information, I can only guess at possibilities for you to check and evaluate. You might also try opening the file in a conversion application like FFmpegX and see if he A/V formats are recognized/convertable to a fully supported QT compression format. As a last resort, consider a "rule of thumb here" -- if a format doesn't work, don't support its use.
