Picture title and comment into iDVD?

I imported and album that contained commemt information to iDVD. The comments do not appear in the slide editing window. Must I manually reenter them? Or did I not select some option somewhere? Thanks.

Click "settings" in the lower right and then you will need to address this dialog box (on your own slideshow):

  • IDVD problem with "Show title and comments"

I am making a DVD for a neighbor. He has given me CDs with scanned old slides. He has over 1000 photos.
I've got the DVD made in iDVD and everything is fine except in one of the slideshows.
In iPhoto I have 22 albums of photos. When I'm in iDVD I go to "media" and I drag an album into the theme. After it is there I drag another album into that album I just drug. So what I'm doing is combining 2 albums into one slideshow thus having 11 slideshows in my theme. I then go into each slideshow while in iDVD and add music and go to "settings" and unclick "Show title and comments".
After I have completed this for all slideshows I watch each slideshow before burning and everything looks fine. After the DVD burns (which takes 5 hours) I again watch the DVD on my television. In the first slideshow, and only the first slideshow, the first half is fine and then when it comes to the pictures that were in the second iPhoto album that I drug in the titles of each photo are coming up on the screen. All of the other 10 slideshows that I combined are just fine.
I pitched the first DVD and tried to fix this by going into iPhoto and making a separate album that had all the pictures of thos first two initial albums. I then went into iDVD, deleted that problem slideshow and then added the slideshow that I had combined all the photos into that one album. I again make adjustment adding music and going into "settings" and unclick "Show title and comments". I watch the slideshow while in iDVD and everything looks fine.
I burn another DVD and when I watch it on my television again that first slideshow has the first half of the pictures just fine and then the second half are showing the titles of each photo on the screen.
Everything else in the DVD looks fine.
The only other thing that might be of importance is when the DVD is ejected from the burner the screen says:
    "Current Operation"
    "Image Incomplete"
I click Cancel and then it says:
    "Cleaning Up"
    "Image Incomplete"
    I again click Cancel.
At this point iDVD freezes and I have to go up under the Apple symbol and do a Force Quit.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I know I should try to make 2 DVDs out of all these photos instead of 1 but my neighbor was really hoping he could have all of them on 1.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Just drag them from the iPhoto Trash bin onto the Library icon just above it.

  • IPhoto "titles" and "comments"

    Hey,
I am making a slideshow in iDVD with a lot of pictures that im importing from iPhoto. My problem is that the names of the pictures (when I show "titles and comments") are too large and cover important parts of the image. I also noticed that the "comments" was smaller than the "titles". So is there a way for Automater to replace all the "comment" sections with what is in the "title" section for all my pictures in iPhoto? I have never used Automater so any help would be great.

Create a workflow with a "Run AppleScript" action and replace the (* Your script goes here *) with the following AppleScript. The easiest way to do that is to click on the link, which will open AppleScript Script Editor, and then copy and paste it into the "Run AppleScript" action.
For this action to work properly you must make sure that before you run the Automator action only the album of interest is selected and not a photo in that album.
click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">tell application "iPhoto"
    set theAlbum to selection
set thePhotos to every photo of first item of theAlbum
    repeat with aPhoto in thePhotos
set theOldTitle to title of aPhoto
set title of aPhoto to comment of aPhoto
set comment of aPhoto to theOldTitle
    end repeat
    end tell

  • Keywords, Titles, and Comments don't travel - Sharing Pics with my PC

What gives with iPhoto. Love it. Problem though. All the work I've put into adding key words, titles, and comments are only good in iPhoto.
Why is this? Wouldn't those things be considered metadata and be stored in the file and then travel with that file?
So... here's the kicker. If iPhoto doesn't do this - I probably need to switch programs. My house and family and work are all PC environments. We all swap photos pretty regularly.
I look like I suck if my photos are all titled DSC-09874. This especially ***** if I know I've spent hours upon hours applying tagging pics with keywords and comments - only to find out I'm the only person to ever see them.
I need some direction here from some iphoto gurus. What should I do?

There is a program that will do it but it's a bit expensive for just that feature, iView MediaPro. However, you can use it is its 21 day demo mode do write the keywords and comments of the photos you have today back to the original files (not the modified but the original). Tutorial #1 describes how to do that.
I suggest you post that as a feature request at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. The more requests for that the better.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Titles and Comments

Can Titles and Comments go with the photo from iPhoto when the photo is moved to another Library, put on a CD or DVD, emailed or used in Pages?

    Johin:
To add to Smtr's answer, all metadata added to a photo in iPhoto stays in iPhoto (sort of like Las Vegas). Using iPLM you can transfer that data between libraries. But for any use outside of iPhoto the metadata won't be available.
There's one way to write comments and keywords to the original files on a one time (or 30 day) basis. That's by using Cocktail (not called Expressions Media) to catalog and then write that data back to the files. Check out Tutorial #1 on how to do it.

  • Printing iPhoto 5 titles and comments?

I am using iphoto 5.0.4. I want to print a list of the titles and comments for a selected group of pictures. Can I do this?
    Thanks

    iphoto used is 6.0.6 (322)
This is the forum for iPhoto 7 (or iPhoto '08). Overall, it is best to post in the appropriate forum, as the various versions do have their differences. That said, there are a few things that can be addressed here.
    I Don't know if this is a 10.4.11 or 10.4.4 problem.
I would take a shot and say that this is an iPhoto problem that exists on the computer that is running 10.4.4. To deal with the iPhoto issue, give this basic remedy a try. Quit iPhoto and delete your iPhoto preferences. To do this, go to your username> library> preferences> com.apple.iphoto.plist. Delete this file. Then reopen iPhoto; it will create a new preference file with all of the default settings.
If that doesn't help, do a verify and repair of permissions using Disk Utility.
Also, it is a good idea to update your system software in this computer to 10.4.11.

  • Copying photos to cd and still having my title and comments

I am a new i photo user. I am very anal about tagging each photo as to who and where. I used a microsoft product that let me place it directly into the photo. I realize this can not be done in i photo. Which is a shame. But my questions are these. I made albums from my library and changed all of the titles and comments to who and where.
    1. If I write a cd using the i photo format will my albums be as I made them tagged with all of my info and in that order ?
    2. If I write a cd using the format for viewing on a pc will all my info be there too.
( I did write using this format already and there is no rhyme or reason to there order. )
    3. Is there a program that I can put words on the photo that does not cost a fortune and is easy to use.
I guess I worry about not being able to view them someday and want them backed up both ways.
    Thanks for your help.

    1. If I write a cd using the i photo format will my albums be as I made them tagged with all of my info and in that order ?
Using 'Share -> Burn, yes you will get the Albums and tags etc when viewed in iPhoto. That is, insert the disk to a Mac and iPhoto will open and the disk will appear in the Source Pne.
    2. If I write a cd using the format for viewing on a pc will all my info be there too.
No. If you use the File -> Export command you can use your titles as filenames, or one of the other naming schemes. Then complete the export to a folder on the desktop and burn that with the Finder. Result: A disk with a folder of images that any machine can understand.
( I did write using this format already and there is no rhyme or reason to there order. )
Alphanumeric is the usual way things are burned in the Finder.
    3. Is there a program that I can put words on the photo that does not cost a fortune and is easy to use.
Some possibilities from free on up:
    Seashore
    Acorn
    Graphic Coverter
    Photoshop Elements
    Some comments:
If you upgrade to iPhoto 7 (part of iLife 08) you have the option to write your titles and keywords to the files on Export. This, along with non-destructive editing, makes it worth the price of the upgrade, for my money.
No matter what, even if you put a CD burned using the Share -> Burn into a PC you will be able to find the files: there're in iPhoto Library Folder / Originals

  • Print & Preview of iBook does not show titles and comments.

    iphoto used is 6.0.6 (322) I Don't know if this is a 10.4.11 or 10.4.4 problem.
problem: iBook prints contain pictures but not title or comments using Epson C60 or HP 1530 printers. Titles and comments are not visible in "preview" but picture is ok. Mac used is an intel Core Duo with system 10.4.4.
However, prints are ok, i.e., have title, comment, picture using the same HP 1530 or an Epson Stylus Photo 1250 on a Pwr PC G4 with system 10.4.11.
The Intel is the preferred unit.
    Thanks, CB

  • Embedding title or comments into photo?

I know Iphoto won't do this, but is there another program that will take the metadata (title or comments) and embed them into the picture (render them into the picture)?
Gallerie will do a static line of text, but not the comments.
anybody know another way, even as part of a web gallery creator?
    Lenny

    Lenny:
There is no application that will automatically take the comments and add them to the image. iWatermark, as recommended by clintbradford, can add text but you'll have to add it for each file individually. Any 3rd party image editor with text capabilities can do it. If you expect to get into a lot of advanced editing you might consider Photoshop Elements for Mac. About 80% of Photoshops capabilities at 1/7 the price.

  • IDVD 6 Slideshow - Titles and comments only show in transition?

I have undertaken archiving my photos onto DVDs (putting the actual photos in the DVD-ROM contents and having a set-top playable slideshow as well)
On my test case, I have included four versions of the slideshow.
    Looping
    Manual
    Looping with titles/comments
    Manual with titles/comments
The disc works fine, except for the titles/comments.
On the manual progression with titles/comments, they simply don't appear.
On the looping version, they only appear during the transition between images.
Anyone else experiencing this problem, or know of a solution?

Sorry, meant to post this in iDVD6

  • Fcp export in ntsc format and burn into IDVD

i need help, when i export my fcp , i have set the settings for ntsc but in IDVD, when payed, it keeps jumping. although i did another one in pal, and things are ok, what setting do i have to put and also mpeg will work also or not. is pal regular in all the dvd players or ntsc?

First, what is your sequence ntsc or pal? ntsc is the standard for north america. and pal is the rest of the world (for the most part). most pal players will play ntsc disks without a problem. and computers will play either pal or ntsc.
You need to describe your workflow from shooting, thru capture, and editing. If you start with ntsc, stay with ntsc. If you start with pal, stay with pal. If you have pal material and need to create an ntsc dvd or vice-versa you need to do a standards conversion to your finished sequence.

  • Preserving edited titles, dates and comments

Via batch changes and individual editing, I managed to organize all of my photos chronologically on my Macbook - to the best of my knowledge. However, when I try to import them to my iMac, all the edited data is lost and it reverts to either the current date of import or the old incorrect data. Is there software or a technique that will help me preserve my edited dates, titles and comments during import or export?

I have a couple of questions:
    1) the edited dates, titles and comments are not remaining intact during the import, even with iPhoto Library manager. I only imported the "Modified" pics and received duplicates of every one.
    2) During a ProCare one on one training, I was told not to mess with the "Originals" folder, so I didn't import it. What will happen if I do?
By the way, I put iPhoto Library Manager on my Macbook and my iMac. Is there a way to merge the libraries together and preserve the corrected dates, titles and comments? I may need a play-by-play on this.

  • Title and Caption

I have crated a slideshow of still photos and included a title for each image.
The title appears in a box that goes on top of the image.
Why does it do this when there is plenty of blank space on either side of the image?
Is it possible to change where the title of an image appears on the screen?

Is it possible to change where the title of an image appears on the screen?
It is in DVDSP. But I'm not sure how to do this in iDVD yet (nor if it's even possible). I'll keep looking though and post back should I find something else.
Btw ... You can't change the style or size of text for titles and comments in an iDVD slideshow. But you can in DVDSP.
A less expensive option to DVDSP might be 3rd party apps like:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
    or

  • When I merge events on iPhoto, my pictures disappear and I no longer have them. How can I get them back?

Plese help me get back my photos

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Web galleries, albums, titles and ratings vanishing. Database corruption?

    Hello!
I'm using iPhoto '08, as included with my MBP. The library was originally used with iLife '06, and before that, iLife '05. It's around 11 GB, with about 6400 pics and videos, and I have about half a dozen web galleries and about two dozen albums.
I usually don't give titles to photos individually, but rather the roll/event when imported. The photos I put in an album or upload to my Web Gallery, however, I give a more detailed title and comments.
Last night, I went though my photos, organizing my library and deleting many of the bad-pics I took yesterday. I created three web galleries, each with about 50 photos with custom titles. Today, all three galleries are missing from iPhoto (they did publish without difficulty, however), those that are there are missing photos, and about half of the titles are missing! Many ratings have disappeared too.
What's going on? I'm noticing it clearly with the web galleries, but that's probably because that was what I spent the most time on - titles are missing all over the place. Is it a corrupted library database? If so, how do I fix this - and can I do so and keep my albums, galleries, and titles?
    Thanks,
    -Dan

    Dan
    Start with a rebuild:
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
