Picture update in lync

Hi,
We have a new setup with AD 2012, Exchange 2013 & Lync 2013.
The AD & Exchange setup is Domain :   ABC\username  while the smtp address is
[email protected]
When I setup my picture for the first time via outlook (exchange portal) it gets picked up by LYNC client (lync / outlook 2013) immediately and the user can see his picture on the Lync client.
now when the user updates the picture from outlook again, the updated picture is seen on exchange, outlook conversations and even verified via AD picture browser BUT doesn't update on the LYNC client.
On the LYNC client it updates after 4 / 5 days ( very surprising ).
on the client side , when I check the lync client configuration information, it shows that the EWS is not deployed, there are no internal or external url set and the hanging notification state is disconnected.
now if I change the user account's smtp from [email protected] to
[email protected]  then this behavior changes and all the ESW and URLS and notification state is seen OK ok the client end and the picture updated via outlook is reflected on Lync client perfectly.
any idea on what I can do ??

Hi ZaidUmer,
It seems that your SIP address and Primary SMTP address does not match, Lync will look at your primary SMTP address and attempt to use it to find the EWS URL via Autodiscover after signing in.
It’s recommend to use the same SIP and SMTP address.
Also Holger’s post is right, with the correct configuration of DNS records should be able to resolve your problem.
Best regards,
Eric

I'm looking for information how to update employee picture in MSS. In the MSS General Information tab there is a section for the photo. I would like to know where that picture is located or from where the photo is retrieved and how the image is associated with the employee.

  • Photoshop Elements Picture Update don't work!

    Hello
I use Photoshop Elements 6.0 for adding pictures, i just started yesterday.
My problem is now, that itunes don't update new photos in existing folders. I can not add any new picture to my Ipod. When i delete PE album and add it new, Itunes take a backup from old PE album.
Same problem by renaming folders in PE, they will not changed in Itunes.
In Itunes i don't see any option for reloading any folders or deleting folders from Itunes directly for reloading.
    Any help?
    Thx

You mean to say you are able to run but when you try opening any image it crashes. Can you try resetting the preferences:
Click on the EDITOR icon -- the quickly hold down CTRL+SHIFT+ALT keys, this will generate a dialogue box to delete settings.
    try and let me know

  • Tring to install Security Update for Lync Server 2010 (KB2982388) ...patch failed to install

    Hi
Idenitfied the lync security update issue below on server....
Worker process exited prematurely.  The process will be automatically restarted.
Process: 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2010\Server\Core\RtcHost.exe'  Exit Code: E0434F4D!_HRX! (No Message Text Found!_HRM!).
The KB2982385 has tried to installed and failed 7 times....and as such my lync edge server is down.
    Found solution:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=44080&fa43d42b-25b5-4a42-fe9b-1634f450f5ee=True
Downloaded patch and then ran lyncserverupdateinstaller...however it doesnt recognise that there is a patch to be deployed or a component to update.
Further running the msp by itself results in:
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows insteller service because thje program to be upgraded may be missing or the upgrade patch may be a different version...
Please advise how i can get this issue resolved.

    Hi,
Did you try to download and install the update manually?
Here is a similar case below, it seems something wrong when updating through Windows Update automatically.

  • Lync 2013 Cumulative Update and Lync 2010 CM database ??

I was going through the update process for our new Lync 2013 Enterprise install,  I just have a FE server up at this point.  I ran the LyncServerUpdateInstaller and it ran fine.  I then ran through the Backend SQL updates, and of course I
get to the end and read...
Note In a coexistence environment that contains both Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server 2013 in which the Central Management Service is located on a Lync Server 2010 pool, do not run the
Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase cmdlet. If you later move the Central Management Service to a Lync Server 2013 pool, you have to run the
Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase cmdlet to apply the changes.
And yes we have a Lync 2010 Standard server running and the CM DB is on the Lync 2010 pool.   I haven't noticed any problems yet, Do I need to be concerned about this?  And if so how do I fix it?  I only have a test account on the Lync
2013 server at this point.  So I could uninstall if needed.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,
As I know, it better to move the Central Management Store from Lync server 2013 database back to Lync server 2010 database firstly. Then if needed, you can uninstall the Lync server 2013 database.
You can refer to the link below:

  • Picture update

hello ,if anyone can help, when i add new pics to my mac it should update in bb desktop software but doesn't  do it ,when i add new music to itunes it updates fine ,many thanks

This is what TAC told me.
"The photo can be refreshed in 24 hours is working as designed. It was raised as a defect CSCui82418 originally. However it is working as design.
Then I discussed with the development team and raised a document defect for it CSCum51965 which you might not be able to view it from CCO since it is raised recently."

  • How do I enforce "Show My Picture" instead of "Hide My Picture" in Lync Server 2013?

I was scouring TechNet and the web for a script that could perform the same task as one that I previously used for Lync 2010.
In Lync 2010, we had already used Lync policy to enforce that only the Active Directory photo could be used. One thing that we couldn't set via policy however was the ability to complete remove the "Hide My Picture" option in Lync 2010 client.
This left users with the ability to freely switch between showing the Corporate photo or no photo. I did eventually find and make use of script that constantly checked for this setting switch, then switched all users back to the desired "Show My Picture"
setting. I don't recall who wrote it, but it's easy to find on technet. As we started to move more and more users to our Lync 2013 enterprise pool, I noted that even though the script was running, the setting seemed to be changeable. A closer look revealed
that the script didn't function correctly against SQL for our 2013 pool.
I took the concept and applied it to Lync Server 2013 after studying the differences in Userdata. In Lync 2013, because UserData is in .zip, you need to convert it to 2010 format XML to use logic intended for Lync 2010. My script will extract 2013 data,
convert it to 2010, query for users who are set to "Hide My Picture" and then export any guilty users to an edited2010 XML. The script then converts this to 2013 Format .zip, and uploads the data for these users only. I chose to use Update-CSUserData
insted of Import-CSUserData as this avoids having to restart my Front End. I then use a scheduled task on my Front End server which runs this script every hour.
Please note: You can use this script, but I guarantee nothing about it's functionality, and I am not responsible for how you positively/negatively use it. You should always test things in a Lab Environment. Furthermore, this script was run on a relatively
smaller Enterprise system in which we are by default set to "Show My Picture" and already assigned as part of our user policy the ForceADPhoto attribute. This means that running the script is less intensive on my FE than say on a FE with 10,000 users
where none of the users were set to "Show My Picture". Please keep this in mind when planning to execute against your FE. You may want to edit my script and insert the -UserFilter or -WhatIf in the Export-CsUserData UpDate-CsUserData.
Anyways, I hope this solves the similar issue for many of you Lync 2013 administrators. Please feel free to share my work with others if it does, and also give this post some good feedback and/or mark my post as the answer to your problem.
    Alas, here's the script (save it as a .ps1 , i.e. ForceShowMyPicture.ps1)

  • Lync 2013 Photos will not update from AD

I recently joined a company who has Lync 2013, Exchange 2010 and AD is at a 2003 functional level. We are experiencing issues where Lync photos are not updating from AD correctly. I have checked the pre-reqs;  Replicate this attribute to the Global
Catalog is set for the ThumbnailPhoto attribute. We are also forcing photos from AD only (or no photo) by setting the following:
    "Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity PhotosControl -DisplayPhoto PhotosFromADOnly"
and finally we are setting the photo in ad using:
"Import-RecipientDataProperty -Identity "Test User" -Picture -FileData ([Byte[]]$(Get-Content -Path "C:\pictures\testuser.jpg" -Encoding Byte -ReadCount 0))"
The pictures being uploaded are under 10KB and update within Outlook but never updates on Lync. I have also manually tried running the "Update-CsAddressBook" command from Lync and waiting 24hours + but the photo will not update in Lync. I have
also tried a 3rd party utility that grabs the attribute directly from each DC individually and each node is displaying the correct photo. Any Ideas?
EDIT: I did some more testing and can say with quite a bit of certainty there is something not quite right on the Lync side of things. I started with the company over a month ago and although users can see my original photo that was added to AD, I myself
do not even see it loaded in my client yet. I've completly dumped my local Lync cache but no change. Is there a specific Lync Server service that handles retrieving/pushing photos to the Lync clients?

Thank you so much for your reply, it was very helpful in understanding how the service is suppose to work however I have still not been able to correct the issue.
What I have found by using your article may have narrowed down the scope of the problem. I was able to find that on our Lync file store, the cached contacts/photos are being updated daily (as expected) and actually contain the correct photos. I confirmed
this be using abserver.exe on the .lsabs file and then locating the contactID for a few users I know are not updating properly. Once I have their contact ID I simply look for their .photo file in the cached files, copy it out to a different location and change
it to a .jpeg. To my surprise the photos are actually the correctly updated ones, so why are these no getting to the users/clients? I have gone through and deleted my local cache folder as well as the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync
but unfortunately no change on my Client. I still see these users original photos.
Another piece of the puzzle; We are also working on letting mobile devices connect to our Lync infrasructure as well. This is not fully functional yet however during my testing I did get Lync client for android running for a little while and low and behold
the pictures are actually correct on my mobile device!! Surely this must give some kind of clue?
We are planning to upgrade Exchange from 2010 to 2013 and I hoping that leveraging the HiDef photo capabilities for Lync 2013 with Exchange 2013 may fix this issue. What do you guys think?

  • Lync Picture in Outlook

I have a few users who experience the following:
    1.  The picture for a contact in Lync is correct.
    2.  The picture for the same contact in outlook is incorrect.
    3.  The picture for the incorrect contact is correct on other PC's.
Not really sure what to delete here.  I imagine there is an incorrect cache file somewhere on the user with the incorrect information's PC.  I just don;t know where and Google is not helping.

    Hi,
How are the Lync Pictures for each user assigned?
Is it different from the users having issues?
Meantime, you can check if Lync Server address book is getting updated daily. You can also initiate the address book by running Update-Csaddressbook cmdlet in the Lync FE/SE server.
Try deleting the GalContact files from the actual user having incorrect picture and check for the issue.
Refer Update Client address section for instruction to delete the contact files:

  • Update picture slows down

    Hi
I am trying to make a little robot that can draw a 2D map of the suroundings. (It uses a rotating distance sensor, like af radar)
I whant to use the picture-control, to draw in the information, so i can get a printable picture out. I have already created a "picture-radarbeam" that reprecents one meassurement in the picture, and it works just fine.
So, the problem is then i try to put the picture in a while-loop and i want the program to sketch the measurements all the time (I mean updating the picture canstantly). Short after it starts, its slows down dramaticly (It seams like it reamember all the preavues sketches, and sketch them all every time the picture updates.). I tried to solve the problem by write the pictue to a image-file, and then load it again to a picture-string, but that is also a very slow solution.
    Any sugestions?

Yes, the right way would be to NOT use a shift register and uncheck "erase first?"
This should work well assuming that all parts of the image are being overdrawn with new data as a new data arrives. That's why I wanted to see the code.

  • Lync for Mac 2011 - crashing since update to 14.0.7

After the latest update to Lync 14.0.7, Lync is now reproduceably crashing every time my Macbook Pro resumes from display sleep.  I am running Mavericks 10.9.1.  I am unable to find a direct download for the 14.0.6 update for Lync 2011.
Is there anyway to get that?  All MS KB bulletins point to the same 14.0.7 download on Microsoft download center.  I can remove Lync and get back to 14.0.2 but that build has other issues for me.  Can someone help me??
    - Robert Buckmaster

    Hi Everyone
We have a few users reporting this very reproducible error.
We are currently testing the following fix applied via the terminal
    cd /Applications/Microsoft\ Lync.app/Contents/Frameworks \
        && ln -s USBHIDWrapper.framework USBHidWrapper.framework
So far it seems to be ok - creating the Symbolic Link
The Problem is because it looks like MS have failed to take in to account that the newer Mac OSes are case sensitive....
I tried the Terminal fix, and saw the symbolic link in the right spot. but it didn't solve my 14.0.7 crashes.
However I still had the 14.0.6 DMG file, and deleted the new and reinstalled the old one but THAT doesn't work either.
    What a PITA.
