Pictures crash

I have four projects on Captivate 6 Windows 7. Files are pretty small 4-5 MB and they look Ok in Captivate and even when I run them in Preview. But when I publish them or open them in browser, some of the pictures break, pixellate, become patchy, and sometimes become just red boxes. What is wrong with my file? I have worked four months on these projects!

Yesterday after posting this question, something came into my mind and tried it. fortunately I could solve my problem. Because my problem was mainly with pictures, I updated all my pictures (47) and it worked.
Thank you anyways, I will change my settings to what you suggested to prevent future problems.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

All apps that take pictures crash when I take a picture. Is this a known bug?

I have multiple apps that can take a picture, and when I take pictures from within the apps, they crash. It is all the picture taking apps (except the onboard camera app). So, Twitter, Bank of the West, and Contact Snapper.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm sure someone in the world, among the millions and millions with an iPhone might have the problem you're describing. How does that help you, knowing this?
Basic troubleshooting steps right out of the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Try each step in order until the problem is solved.

Using slideshow with lots of pictures crashes all the time

I am again working on a project with 400 pictures. As I try to get then into the project, the thing just crashes all the time and I have to load back up. Since this has happened to me on many projects, but I do not see others having issues, this implies others do not use slideshow much with lots of pictures. And this time it is a DVD.

With PPro can you do a transistion to 350 pictures at one time?
Yes, with Automate to Sequence, but there are limitations and qualifications. This would be a good subject to read up on, so that all i's are dotted, and t's are crossed, per the requirements of this function. This will apply a single Transition to all images.
I use Dip-to-Black, Cross-Dissolve and then butt-cuts for 99% of my Transitions. Each is chosen specifically to convey the passage of time, etc.
Can you get PPro do some random pan and zoom on the 350 in a single step?
No. Now, I treat each image as unique, and animate each thusly. If I have one image with a face, I may want to zoom in and pan to the eyes, or the mouth. If I have a group shot, I may want to single out one person's face. Even with advanced AI, no program can possibly know what I, the producer, will want from any picture. I have never used any random pans and zooms, as I have my own ideas of what animation should be applied. That is one reason that I can decide on the exact Scale (size) of each image. In a normal SlideShow, the vast majority of my images will be resized to the exact Frame Size of the Project. I then may have a few, that are larger by a good bit, because I will pan on a zoomed out image. Then, I might have some more, that are in between these sizes. I will do a separate folder for each size of image, and use them accordingly. If I have miscalculated, I just do a resize for that image.
Now, you might want to also look into ProShow Gold, or their Producer program. I am looking at Producer for more "canned" SlideShows, and it looks very good. Have not bought it yet, as PrPro still works well for me, and I still do most of my work by hand and by eye.

Iphoto 9 very unstable, Create new library. Import one picture = crash

Reloaded Iphoto 9.
Create new library.
Import one picture,
Iphoto 9 crashes immediately.
Same behavior I was trying to fix.
plist trashed. permissions repaired,
Iphoto Lib manager also crashes Iphoto 9.
macbook 2.26 running 10.6.8

Did you delete the receipts before reinstalling?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

Photos Pictures Crashing!!

I'm really upset at the moment,
I've been on an amazing break to Jersey CI and taken some amazing photos, now of which i can't access because when i take photos it crashes when saving and when opening the camera roll it crashes...
The problems;
1) First happened when using the Photo shortcut on the lock screen and the plus sign to take the photos...
2) I can shoot film but it won't save
3) Opening the pictures - camera roll crashes everytime
4) Opening the pictures through the camera shortcut crashes...
5) Locations are not shown now, not on the ones that previoiusly did too..
Is there anyone who can help????

I Found the solution !! no need to restore !!
after i lost all my data, i didnt care to lose some more (worst case restore my iphone again...)
now for the solution.
**** BEFORE YOU START, THIS SOLUTION WORKED PERFECT FOR ME AFTER A VERY LONG NIGHT OF EXPERIMENTS, I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY, IF YOU DECIDE TO TRY THIS, ITS UP TO YOU ****
download IFUNBOX (or any other iphone explorer you like)
backup using IFUNBOX all your photos from the iphone to your PC
go to folder VAR/DCIM and delete all folders you got there (.MISC , XXXAPLLE)
go to folder VAR/PhotoData/MISC and delete all the files inside (DCIM_APPLE.plist , PreviewWellImage.tiff)
go to folder VAR/PhotoData and delete ONLY (Photos.sqlite , PhotosAux.sqlite)
go to folder VAR/PhotoStreamsData and delete all inside it
close IFUNBOX
make HARD RESET (hold both power + home button together until the screen will turn black, and release both buttons)
NOTE: before deleting all the files i said to delete, you can save then to your pc for backup (that what i did)
after the warning in the start, i do believe this solution will work for everyone who have this problem.
and its easy methood, and save a lot of time and data loss.
if you try this, please report if it worked for you or not.
and lets hope someone in apple will read this, so they will know this problem exist.

PICTURES CRASHING YOSEMITE CURRENT RELEASE

SEconomic try at this. I was running PICTURES on a 2011 Mac Book Pro with 8 gig of memory and a 256 gig SSD. Downloaded pictures from my camera, started cropping one picture, the screen shifted to the right, the spinning ball came up and the system locked up. Restarted and the screen immediately went to vertical bars, progress bar went to about one third the way, screen reset to pure white and processors began churning. System will not take keyboard commands to boot from Yosemite boot USB or recover from Time Machine. any suggestions?

This can happen if adware Genieo is installed without your knowledge. Removing it will help,
1. Download and use free AdwareMedic to remove the adware
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
    Install , open, and run it by clicking “Scan for Adware” button   to remove adware.
    Once done, quit AdwareMedic.
               or
    Remove the adware manually by following the “HowTo” from Apple.

2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
     Turn those off and relaunch Safari to test .
     Turn those on one by one and test.
Note:
If you don’t have another browser installed,
startup into SafeMode, log into your account, launch Safari
and download AdwareMedic or the removal instructions from Apple.
How to start up into Safe Mode?
Shut down the computer.
Press the power button. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be pressed as soon as possible after startup,but not before the startup sound.
Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Startup will take longer than usual.
Launch Safari. Follow the steps posted above to remove the adware.
Once done, quit Safari and restart the computer from  in the menu bar.

IMovie 11 (9.0.2) slow to import pictures, crashes

Hello all,
I’m trying to import 2600 pictures to make a time lapse and it takes approximately 5 seconds PER picture to import. I have already formatted the pictures into desired size (720P movie, therefore exported all pics at 1280 x 720 and average only 500KB size).
I tried both dragging and dropping the pics from desktop to iMovie as well as first importing to iPhoto and then importing from iMovie through the picture thing.
I tried in small batches (100pic) at a time too but it’s still dog slow. I have NO other projects or anything.
Also, no matter what, after about 20-30 mintes the application hangs completely and I have to force quit it...

I have a powerful MacPro (2 x Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3.2 GHz, 10GB RAM, a new ATI Radeon HD 5870, and 7200rpm HDs)

Just want to say I am having a very similar problem. I've been working iniMovie for a couple years, and I have never experience this before. I do have the latest update iMovie11 9.0.2. I have about 1400 pictures imported from iPhoto (and really didn't experience major issues importing them), but now I am trying to go in and adjust cropping and transitions, and every slight adjustment takes approx 20 - 30 seconds, so it's taking me FOREVER to edit this project. Am seriously frustrated!! Any ideas out there?

Picture - broken/crash after Import

Hello, i have a Problem with my new MacBook Pro (NOT Retina) Mountain Lion and Aperture 3.3.2:
when i Import RAW Files fom a card reader some of the Pictures Crashes/break after Import (while Aperture is reading the JPG Infos). The Data File is distroyed.
(This problem is NOT with my MacPro2008 Mountain Lion and Aperture 3.3.2)
Does anyone have an Idea ??

Well, I did the third tape now with some breaks during importing. Each time I dragged all clips into timeline and saved the project. This worked, but each break will result in a short interruption that is not as the original tape was. I also would prefer to let the importing work during times I am not sitting at the computer, so I am still looking how to solve that problem.
Maybe it just is that iMovie can not handle more then 250 clips in the clip-list?
I know that the timeline handles more then that, because I was importing 2x60 minutes tapes before, with well over 300 clips in timeline.

Replaced 8gb of the RAM because when I removed that memory I never had a problem.
With new RAM problem persissted.
I Spoke with Apple support - tried a bunch of things over the phone.
Took the machine into the store, spent 3 hours changing things and consistently reproducing the error.
Same 8 pictures, crashes the machine every time, at the same place in the merge process - seemless composition.
However the crash never beeped like it did at home! The machine just hangs and needs to be turned off.
Apple then replaced the logic board and the graphics card. And left in their thorough testing process.
Went back in, spent another 3 hours consistenly reproducing the error.
Same 8 pictures, crashes the machine every time, at the same place in the merge process - seemless composition.
Spent time changing memory configurations. The upshot, it only crashed when the machine had 16gb of RAM. Under 8gb it never crashed - no matter what the permitations of where each memory simm was.
Replaced all 16gb of RAM.
Just put new RAM in, fired up Photoshop, did the merge with the same images - machine died - exactly the same place. This time however I now have OSX LION installed and the machine just turns off.
Any thoughts?

Just straight forward complete machine hang with a strange beeping.
That means that you have a problem with your hardware. It could be a hard disk, the RAM, the power supply, or the motherboard. The pattern of beeps is there to tell technicians what the cause might be.
Software tests of RAM are useless - they'll only catch errors that should have prevented the machine from booting in the first place.
You need to take the machine in for service and reproduce the failure for the technicians.
And when they complain that the cause is Photoshop, tell them that software cannot cause a hardware failure like that and that they need to give the case to a more experienced technician.

PSE 9 crash with OS X Lion?

Just downloaded OS X Lion. Using PSE 9 and when making a new layer I get aborted from PSE9 altogether. Anyone else havin this issue. I checked for Software updates and everything is updated on my Mac book pro. Any help?

I deleted .plist files that were in my preferences folder in the library as you suggested. This is the only folder within the library folder where I could find any adobe .plist files. I then reopened PSE9 and tried my action again and it crashed.
My steps before the crashes are:
1. Open PSE9
2. Open a picture
3. Click on the lock in the layer
4. Make a new layer
CRASH either at this point or after the next point
5. Move the new layer behind the picture
CRASHES at this point if it didn't crash after #4.
Is this related to installing the new OS X 9 on my Mac Book Pro?
Could I have .plist files somewhere else that I'm not looking?

PHOTO BUGS!

Here is the bugs i've been experiencing with my iphone 4 (ios 5)
- Can't take pics
- Can't delete pics
- Automatic duplicates my photo library
- unable to look at pic in text messeging
- unable to take screenshots
- Settings>General>About>Photos: 2,147,814,647 (it says I have over 2 billion photos in my phone, I don't)
- Photo app crashes constantly
- Photo stream replace my photos with a 'grey with nothing on it' photo
- photos saved from photo stream to album are extremely blurry
- unable to send or open pictures from another app
- other apps and games won't work properly as before
- every app related to taking picture, select picture, view picture crashes when picture are taken or selected
- restoring won't help (i tried)
- Cannot play recorded videos from camera roll

sometimes apple do change things inexplicably, not always for the better.

BUT i'm not sure these things are bugs, furthermore i suspect it is your ipod rather than a general problem.
i am assuming you mean the 3rd Generation when you refer to 'rev 3'
1) if i've understood you correctly, then my photos orient fine.
2) granted i don't use it very often, but i haven't noticed the problem with the shuffle function either - have done a quick test and it seems to work fine
3) however, the play button isn't there when i tap the screen. this is probably one of those inexplicable changes.

Graphic Location/OLE Bug?

Iu2019m using Crystal 2008 (fully patched) and Visual Studio .Net 2003
We upgraded to Crystal 2008 as we specifically needed to dynamically load images into reports.
Iu2019ve encountered a problem that causes both the report designer and my application to crash.
We have a directory that contains over 70,000 passport size photographs uploaded from various sources. The report selects a number of these based on a URL thatu2019s constructed from within the procedure that feeds the report.
Iu2019ve tracked this problem down for one jpg image although there could be any number in the directory, as having run the report with different parameters Itu2019s hit and miss as to whether or not it works.
I can view this image in all sorts of other applications such as IE, Paint Programs, and previous versions of Crystal with no problem.
If I insert it as a picture (ole object) in crystal 2008 it interprets the pixel size as being cm which results in an image of 670 x 957 cm which is clearly wrong. Worst still if I link to this image via the graphic location and refresh the report I get crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close which it promptly does.
When running from within a .Net application Iu2019ve had out of memory and division by 0 errors which Iu2019m assuming are down to the fact that the report is misinterpreting the image size.

Hi - after a bit more investigation I wrote a small application to scan the directories to try and identify the corrupt files although this doesn't really help me in the long term as these directories are added to as and when and the scan takes hours so it isn't really a viable option and Iu2019m still getting other errors that I canu2019t track down.
There are three 'types' of corrupt jpg's Iu2019ve tracked so far which Iu2019ve tested in the designer. Examples can be found at previous URL:

All of these are related to the graphic location as it runs fine when the link is commented out
One for the moderators I think, pretty much makes the software unusable for what we bought it for.
