Pictures disappeared from album

I had a lot of old pictures in albums on iPhoto. I even had them posted on a public website. It seems these pictures have totally disappeared from my album, and the website has also disappeared. These were old pictures, of my father's family, and were being used for genealogical purposes. One picture went back as far as 1890. I tried to recreate the wheel. I have these pictures in a folder on my desktop, but when I try to import them into iPhoto, I get the following message: "The following file could not be imported (Import failed): /Users/rshea1/Desktop/'ShiplettPics2/IraMenzo Later Years.jpg". These pictures will not import into iPhoto, even though I had them there once before. What happened? I really want to get these pictures back onto the website, but don't know how to do it. If this were the first time I tried to do it, I would just give up, but since they were there once, I don't know why they disappeared. Can anybody please help me with this?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Sounds like you may have a damaged database file.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Your camera roll photos are only stored as part of your iCloud backup, if you are backing up to iCloud. Only photo stream photos are accessible in your iCloud account, and only by turning on photo stream. If you turn on photo stream, any photos in your photo stream will be found in the photo stream album in the Photos app on your phone.

When i went to the cloud all my pictures disappeared from my iphone. I used to sink with my PC. Are my pictures tored somewhere on my PC?

You may have a backup from previously syncing. Check itunes preferences>devices. In there you should have a backup with a date & time stamp. If it is prior to photo loss you can restore it. Although you will lose any changes that you've made since

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Pictures DISAPPEARED from pictures folder after installing lightroom to use with creative cloud

so i had lightroom on a trail period that had ended. i had then gone to try out the creative cloud lightroom and it asked me to install. in hindsight i should have just transferred my files to my external hard drive just in case... but i didn't. so after installing the new updated lightroom, MOST of my photos have disappeared from their original folder. like LOTS and LOTS of photos. but it kept SOME of the photos.
can anyone help me?! lots of memories lost possibly and i'm quite displeased and worried...

So I had pictures in an album called photo library and when i backed up my iphone to my computer, the pictures disappeared from my phone. They were pictures that had originally been transferred from my blackberry to my iphone

I had pictures that I transferred from my blackberry to my iphone and they were in an album labeled photo library. my phone needed to be replaced so I backed it up to my computer and now my photos are gone. The camera roll pictures are still there but my 800 photos from my blackberry are gone. does anyone know where i can recover them from? are they gone forever? any help would be much appreciated. thank you

i also imported the photos to iphoto but it was only the pictures from the last six months (camera roll).

I dunno if this information is useful but the photos im trying to recover were in an album called photo library and they were permanent and couldnt be edited or deleted on the iphone.
These photos were never on your Mac. iPhoto only imports from the Camera Roll. You'd have needed to use a 3rd party app to get any other photos from your phone.

I have lost pictures in my albums. Only some. I deleted same photos from last 18 months because they were duplicates. Did this make the pictures disappear from yhe albums?

I have lost the pictures in most of my albums. After I creatd the albums, I went back to the same pictures in the last 18 months and erased them. Did this cause the album pictures to also be erased? My Itunes was acting like my Ipad was attached, but it was not. Help

Then, sorry to say, you will have deleted the photos from your iPhoto library.
Have you checked iPhoto's Trash and the Trash on your Desktop, if the photos are still there? Then put them back from iPhoto's Trash or move them back from the trash basket on your Desktop.
Did this cause the album pictures to also be erased?
Albums do not store photos or duplicate photos - they are a way to group photos that are stored in events, just an index, showing you a subset of the photos in the library. A photo can be used in many albums, without needing more storage. When you delete a photo from its event, it will be removed from all albums, and all other views of the iPhoto library. Never delete a phot from its event, unless you want to remove it completely from your iPhoto library. A photo is only a duplicate, unless you have imported the same file twice and you see the copy in an event.
iPhoto has several views, that may show you the same photos in different groupings, for easy access, but do not contain duplicates.
If you cannot retrieve your photos from the Trashs, restore your iPhoto Library from the last backup, that contains all photos. If there is no recent backup, you may want to try recovery software - then stop using your mac and don't do anything that writes to your harddisk, until you recovered, what is still on your disk.

usually makes a very good job of finding any jpegs, that still can be found on the harddrive.
My Itunes was acting like my Ipad was attached, but it was not.
I don't understand, why you mention the iPad? Have you synced your photos to your iPad and are there still copies of them in your albums on the iPad?

Batches of pictures disappearing- from iPhoto folder as well as the viewer!

I've got a real ghost in the machine... twice in the last week, i have had a whole series of images completely disappear not just from the iPhoto library/viewer, but from the folders in iPhoto's home folder (both "originals" and "modified"). They are NOT in the Trash... there are still photos in iPhoto's trash that were there before, it hasn't been emptied.
Each time, about 60 photos, all in sequence, simply vanished. The first time, i still had the images on the cam card so i just re-uploaded them. But this time, i'd deleted the images from the cam... and was in between backups, so they are just gone.
in the iPhoto home folder, there are gaps in the numbering of the "rolls".. it will go from Roll 437 to Roll 439, with no 438, for example. Is that normal?.
the iMac has been having crashes where it wakes from sleep with most of the screen black, just fragmented video across the top, and frozen/SBOD. Usually the only way out is to shut it down with the power button and reboot (sometimes, i can get away with unplugging the Intuous tablet or other periphs and waking it up again).
Could this have something to do with disappearing images (and god knows what else is missing)? when i look in the iMac's trash, it has several Recovered Files folders from crashes. In each, there is a folder called iPhoto, but it is empty.
ps, i just counted the gap in the picture numbering sequence, and i am missing over 150 pictures, all in sequence and probably from one upload... except that ONE of the images, from the middle of the sequence, is still there...!
(This is so strange!).

I have been having the same issue I think. My Halloween roll disappeared sometime after I had uploaded most of it to MobileMe. 3/4 of my web galleries show gray outlines and run times (for movies), but no picture of movie. Sometimes it's the whole gallery, sometimes just a series of 4-10 shots.
Tried 'show in finder' and it went to empty dated folders. This is happening on both my iMac and MBP.
I can't say exactly how many photos have vanished from my iPhoto library, but I believe it's around 50-100. I have started to save the photos on my backup drive before importing in iPhoto, but i'd rather find a solution to get these photo-stealing poltergeists out of my machines.
Any ideas?

Why are most photos disappearing from albums in iWeb?

I'm having a problem with the photo albums on iWeb.
I drag a photo album from my iPhoto window in iWeb to the photo album web page and it becomes an album with slideshow capabilities. If I publish the site, everything appears fine. I save iWeb and exit.
Now if I open iWeb again, all three of the photo album pages still exist, but on each page, only four of the original photos remain. The albums are supposed to have 29 photos, 35 photos, and 46 photos total. Now they each show four.
I thought it was a fluke, so I added them all again including captions. Then I saved, closed and reopened iWeb. The photos in the web albums were gone again.
I'm using iLife '09 with the iPhoto that exists on my laptop, but all the source photos are located on a Mac Mini in my local network. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Note that the complete album as uploaded to the actual website still exists and works great. But if I publish the changes, the album will disappear.

Pictures disappearing from my Iphoto library

My pictures I import to my Imac- to my Iphoto library keep disappearing. The folder in events are still listed but the pictures are no longer there. How can I recover my pics and why is this happening? How can I stop this from happening, I keep losing pictures and have no idea why. This doesn't happen all the time but it has happened twice this week. The folder is there but the pics are missing. Could this be because I have too many pictures in my library? If someone could help me I would appreciate it!

If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

Photos disappear from Album and Photo webpages in iWeb after publishing.

I just installed iWeb 9. I made some great new photos albums and blogs and published. After 4 unsuccessful attempts and publishing errors, I finally got the new web pages published. When I go back into iWeb, the photos on the album page are gone. All the photos from the photos page are also gone! The Albums page, which had 10+ albums now has 1 space that says, "Drag album here."
The website shows the photos as I would expect. I thought this was a fluke, and started from scratch, recreated the pages, made sure my iWeb patches were up to date... Same thing... No photos in iWeb.
The Blog doesn't seem to have this problem. Only the Albums and Photos webpages.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.

Photo subpages disappearing from album page in iWeb 2009

One of the pages of my website is an album page. Theoretically, an album page should allow multiple photo subpages. Initially my album had two photo subpages. Now, however, I want to add additional subpages.
The problem I'm encountering is that these new subpages keep disappearing. Every time I quit and reopen iWeb, the original two subpages and any subpages created in the last session are present, but any subpages created in earlier sessions have disappeared. The disappeared subpages show up in the column of created pages on the left-hand side of iWeb, but they do not appear in the album page, and all photo content for the subpages has disappeared (although formatting and text boxes are unchanged).
I've tried multiple strategies to get around the disappearing page problem: duplicating existing album subpages, adding a new page within the album, adding a new page outside the album and then dragging it into the album, deleting the iWeb plist file and restarting the computer the page.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Creating albums in photos, pictures disappear in album?

When selecting photos on iPad to move to album folder, the selected photo appears and then instantly disappears in the album. what is going on?

I use a Windows PC and for me, it is working as such:
Folder A is the main sync folder. B, C, D are the first level of subfolders within Folder A. Folders X, Y & Z are sub-sub-folders contained within subfolder C.
The albums shown in the ipad photo app are all single level albums of A, B, C, D, X, Y & Z.
Note: Folder A contains no photos, only subfolders.

Why did my panoramic pictures disappear from my camera roll?

I took a couple of panoramic pictures. I was able to see them for a few days but now they are gone from my camera roll. Anyone else have this issue? They are also not in my photo stream. Anyone know what might have happened?

Pictures disappear from Word or Ppt

My word/ppt files wherein I had inserted pictures from printscreen are no more loading up. The X sign appears and error message says that the image cannot be loaded.
The issues was first discovered in 2010 so i upgraded to 2013, but tthe problem still persists.
Can anyone provide me with a solution or workaround. Some info on the issue:
Seen in MS office & ppt 2010- 2013
Image size is less than 1mb
Image were copied and pasted on to documents from screenshots
Images were not hyperlinked to other folders or urls.

It could be cause low memory try Closing all other programs to free up as much memory as possible.Open the file again.
