Pictures Don't Show Up

I just installed the trial of LR3 and I'm already having problems. When I try to "import" photos, my pictures don't show up. All that shows up in the preview thumbnails are grey boxes where my pictures should be. LR acts like it is loading my pictures, but when the pictures should be fully loaded, there are only grey boxes. If I hit "uncheck all" they will begin to re-load, but still the pictures will not show up. If I go to "Develop", the levels and such of the photo will show up and I can alter them, but it doesn't do anything because the photo I am editing is just a grey space! I tried altering the preferences for the file types to see if that may be it, but the pictures still did not show. I also tried using different folders of photos, but they all did this weird grey space thing. Any help?

  • Pictures don't show in camera roll

Does anyone know why some pictures don't show up in the camera roll after I take a picture? The first time it happened I thought something was wrong and the picture didn't save. I looked in Photos and all the pictures I took were there but not all the pictures are in the camera roll. I haven't moved any photos. It seems to happen if I access the camera directly from the lock screen.

When you access the camera roll from the lock screen, you can only see photos that you took while at the lock screen during that session only. The phone needs to be unlocked first in order to see all your camera roll photos.

  • Iphoto 7.1.3. - pictures don't show even though they exist & library=fine

    Hi all
got a crazy problem here, that seems to have originated from updating to 7.1.3 last week.
I cannot see my photos anymore. I see events, photos, see the Info of a photo, but Iphoto displays blanks instead of pictures.
Examining the package shows me that the photos do exist in their managed folders.
I tried rebuilding the db, rebuilding thumbnails, etc. Nothing shows the photos.
I tried restoring older libraries of a couple of weeks old (timemachine) but they don't show anything also. This leads me to believe that this version of iphoto seems to be broken. Maybe I can try downgrading (don't know how though)
Anybody have some suggestions? any help is much appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
This version of iPhoto works fine, it's your database that has been damaged.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Why all pictures don't show up in the drop zones?

If I import, for example, 4 pictures in a theme that has three drop zones, only one or two pictures will show up when the loop plays and not in the order I have arranged them in the drop zones. Is there a way to sequence through all 4 pictures in each drop zone? Can for instance the loop be made longer than, in my case 0.28 min (5.0 "Memories" theme)?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

    Len,
What you mean by "You can only load the same number of images into the number of drop zones and expect the theme to function properly."?
Do you mean that I must have the same number of images, (for example 4) for each drop zone? Or,maybe, one image in drop zone 1, 2 images in drop zone 2 etc. for the drop zones to work properly?

  • Pictures don't show in Internet Explorer

Hi, I just built a blog using Iweb 09 and it is looking alright in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
Even in the Internet Explorer the home page looks alright. But once I click in one of the posts, the text is there but the picture(s) and some buttons won't display. They are there but once I right click them to check the properties, the pictures were turn into "(...)/Media/transparent.gif"
Why is that and how can I fix it?
    Thanks

This really isn't much help because at that "iWeb for Musician Site" it tells you to use another application to create your blog. I wanted to use the Apple application because it's easier to create the pages. Why can't Apple "fix" the issue and make iWeb created pages a bit more compatible with Explorer... especially since 90% of folks on the internet are not aware of any other browsers besides Explorer... they just want the internet

  • Some photos don't show in LIbrary view--just the outlines of them

Tonight I tried to transfer a bunch of digital photos from a CD my daughter burned into my iPhoto library, into the 2006 year folder.
I opened the CD and in the icon view, the pictures looked fine--jpeg files.
After I transferred them, these pictures don't show in my initial iPhoto window (the one that opens first when you click on iPhoto in the Dock, and shows all the pictures in my Library sorted by (in my case) roll/date.
Then photo thumbnails from years prior to 2005 show up, fine, but for the most recent year of pictures, all I get are the outlines of where the thumbnails ought to show. When I click on one of the blank thumbnails, of course I get a blank ...but the frame in the lower left shows the ID info for the picture and the picture counts, etc.
I can open the folders from the Pictures file and see them...they just won't show up in the overall Library window.
So...I moved the transferred ones out of the iPhoto library and just put them in the Pictures folder for now.
But what did I do? And how do I "fix it" to make all the thumbnails show up again? This is probably some simple thing...but I can't figure it out. I tried showing just the last 12 months...and I get all the blank outlines.
    G4 iBook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Using iPhoto 5, 768MB RAM,

    Hi john,
First problem. You need to import photos into the iPhoto Library the correct way which is while iPhoto is open. Drag the photos out of where you put them (you already did) now you can import them into iPhoto from there.
Read on for more info....--First thing to know and remember is this...Do not drag any images, folder of images into the iPhoto Library in the Finder. Images have to be imported into iPhoto within the application. Do not scan images and save them into the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder. Save them to another location such as the Pictures folder or even the desktop. You can then import them into iPhoto.
If you have already put files/folders in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder then you will also find out that if you try to import them into iPhoto you will get an error message. No worry, just drag them to the desktop and import from there.
--All images that you import are shown in the library view. You can choose how you want to view, by rolls, by date, by rating, etc. When you put images in an Album, slideshow, book, etc, you are actually just putting pointers to those images in the library. You are not adding more images. If you delete an image from the Album it will still be in the library. If you delete an image from the library it is deleted from iPhoto's database and your hard drive (unless you have it backed up somewhere else)
--You have a folder of images on your hard drive and want to import them into iPhoto. Drag the folder of images into an open iPhoto Library window and the folder of photos will be copied into the library, resulting in a new roll with the name of the folder. You now have two copies of those photos, the ones in iPhoto's database and the ones on your desktop. You can keep the ones on your desktop that you just imported as backup or you can delete that folder.
-- you scan a picture/pictures and save it in a folder. You cannot scan directly into iPhoto or the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder.
You want all your photos in iPhoto so you import them into iPhoto.
Now you have two copies of that picture/pictures, so you can delete the originals that were in the scanned folder and keep the one/ones that were imported into iPhoto.
-- You download pictures from your camera into iPhoto.
There is now one copy of each of the pictures. (DO NOT HAVE IPHOTO DELETE THE IMAGES FROM YOUR CAMERA! DELETE THEM MANUALLY WITH THE CAMERA-if something goes wrong with the import and they are never imported and then they are deleted from the camera you might end up losing those images)
You want to change something about a picture you imported, such as
cropping it or changing the size, or changing the orientation.
Once you do that to a picture, you now have two copies of the picture
in iPhoto, the original and the edited one. The edited one will be in the library organize view. The original is packed away in an Original folder in your iPhoto Library folder under the date of the roll. You can always revert to the original by control clicking on the photo and choose "revert to orginal" You will not have this choice if you used iPhoto Diet to get rid of the Originals.
(a quick note on cropping within iPhoto...when you are in edit mode, you automatically will be in the crop mode with cross hairs to highlight the crop area. To finish cropping you must click the crop button and then go back to library view and your cropped picture will be there.
3.You want to use Photoshop or another graphic program to edit a picture in your iPhoto library.
You can open up prefs for iPhoto and choose "when double clicking on
photo ..do" choose "other" and select Photoshop. Now you can edit all
pictures in your iPhoto library in PhotoShop by double clicking. If you save the photo with the same name and as a flattened file it will be saved right into iPhoto and you will see the changes. If you don't want to save it into iPhoto then do a "save as" and save to the desktop. You will then have the original photo still in iPhoto and your new edited photo on the desktop.
Or, with iPhoto open, you can drag a picture from the library window
to your desktop (you see a + sign on the pic you are dragging). You now
have two of the same picture, one in the iPhoto library and one on your desktop. You can open up the one on your desktop in any graphic program and work on it. The one in iPhoto stays the same. You can also share/export the picture/pictures to your desktop or folder to work on them or do batch processing, etc. You will still have the originals in your iPhoto Library.
Or, you can open up the ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/folders and option drag any
picture out of the folder to your desktop. Notice that you will see a plus sign while dragging the photo. This is copying the file to your desktop
I would advise anyone not to do this as they might forget to use the option key and drag the photo out. Next time you open iPhoto the photo will be missing.

Don't forget that in Library view you can Control click on any picture and get a contextual menu with many options. One is to revert to original.
Now to get to your next problem...do a "get info" on your iPhoto Library folder.

  • Pix don't show in document that I made in Pages, copied and pasted onto an email

I've got a six month old Mac Air with OS X 10.9.2. I made a short document in Pages, version 5.2 (1860). I used the images link to put some photos into the document. I want to send this document to many people, using who knows what operating systems. I shared it with a few people first, but one person couldn't even open it, while the other person had a "hard time" (?) opening it, but finally got it opened, while the others (I thank them all very much ) haven't responded.
It isn't working as easily as I want, and feel that maybe it's not such a good idea to send the document out as an attachment anyway. So, now I want to copy and paste the whole document right into the body of the email. I've sent the document to myself to see if it comes up okay. Everything looks great except that none of the pictures show up. They're important.
Is there some requirement that the pictures are limited to a certain size, or a certain type, or some other requirement? The moment the document is pasted into my Gmail email, the pictures don't show up. I'd suppose if Gmail had a size limit they'd at least show up when the document (including the photos) is pasted into the body of the email, and just wouldn't show up when the email is opened up.
    Thanks for any help.
    Troy.

Got this in my inbox a little while ago:
    Hello there,
We have heard about your issue from the discussion thread below:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6145799?tstart=0
We would like to know if you would be able to provide the following:
    - OSX and Pages versions- Is iCloud file sync On for Pages
    - copy of a document thatdoes not show images
    - details about workflow before the image dow not show in Pages
    - is the document stored on the local hard drive or on a network server
    Thank you,
    The iWork Team

I clicked the link but, it seems odd to me that this didn't show up here in the thread. I guess this is legitimate though.
    Here are my answers -
    - OSX and Pages versions
As I mentioned in my initial post I've got OS X 10.9.2 on a 2013 model MacBook Air, and Pages 5.2 (1860).
    - Is iCloud file sync On for Pages
I don't know where to find iCloud file sync in Pages. Searching the internet didn't help. I found some forum threads but they don't make any sense to me. I'm not so computer savvy and am still new to Mac. I can share links via iCloud by sending files as Pages documents, PDFs, Word documents, or ePubs. Maybe this is what you mean. But I don't see anything about turning it on or off.
    - copy of a document thatdoes not show images
Only way I know of is to use Google Docs. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pRfzSI8gpzKRavCbFRdLAUjddVqTMyyvTllJNvCVAeA/ edit
    - details about workflow before the image dow not show in Pages
I uploaded all the images using the "Media" icon in the Pages task bar at the top of the screen. Is there anything more that you'd like to know about the workflow?
    - is the document stored on the local hard drive or on a network server
    Local hard drive.
    Thanks much.

  • Quits while importing; pictures in library folder don't show in window

Quits while importing; photos are in iPhoto Library, but don't show up
I have about 6500 photos in iPhoto 5.0.4. Everything worked well until this week when I went to import a series of new pictures. I import from a Scandisk card reader.
The process appeared to go well until the progress bar showed 1 photo remaining. After a time the application quit.
I tried again with the same result, several times.
I tried rebuilding the library. It appeared not to work.
I copied the library to another disk drive and tried to create a new library and copying back the pictures into the new library. It didn't work.
I trashed the software and reinstalled it, then copied the old pictures into the library and the new ones from my camera. Then I had to recreate the albums I had before. It worked.
This morning I shot more pictures and tried to add them to the library. Déja vu. It got to one picture remaining and quit.
I rebuilt the library. This time it seemed to work. The "new" pictures were still in the library folders on the hard drive but did not show up on the screen (one for each time I'd tried to load them with _1, _2, etc. added to the name, for each additional attempt, including the last one in the series).
I tried to add to the library. It quit at the one photo remaining point again.
    Suggestions, please.
    Alex Norton

    Hi Alex,
    Two things to suggest:
    -Try a different card reader
-Use Image Capture to import your images to the computer. You will have much more control. Once images are downloaded you can put them in dated folders then import the folders to iPhoto.
This is my preferred method and is what I do.
Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
    Under the General button choose
Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.

  • 1/3 of Display is ok 2/3 don`t show a picture

    Hello
My Powerbook has broken Display hinges. With an external Monitor the Powerbook works fine. I opend the Display and put in the cable (pulled out when the Display hinges get broken).
The upper third (horizontal) show the normal picture, the other 2/3 of the Display don´t show a picture. The backlight of the display is everywere ok.
Is it posible that the cable is damaged? The cable looks fine.
I make some pictures. Can I post the pictures in the forum?
    Greats by rettho

    Hi all-
    I have a Powerbook G4 (Aluminum, I think), 12 inch, from 2004.
Just about an hour ago, I sat down at my desk, where my computer was already open, but adjusted the angle of the screen a bit--- and heard a kind of scary "snap" sound (or was it just a loud "click"? I can't tell if I'm being paranoid), and my screen now feels quite a bit "looser" than before.
This freaks me out, obviously, but I'm not sure what's going on. For a while, the hinge had felt a bit "tight" or "sticky"-- but I didn't really think of this as an issue, or even know that other people had problems with this part of the Powerbook (never even knew it was a possibility to use lubricant!).
So now, I am scared that maybe one of the hinges is broken? Would I definitely know if that was the case? Or perhaps it had been getting sticky for a while, but then just "snapped" out of it's stickiness, and is looser again?
Nothing looks different-- and it doesn't necessarily feel like my screen is going to fall off or something. I'm just scared that something bad will happen if I just keep using it normally (I'm very careful with my PB, but I do take it in a laptop bag to work or around town some days-- will jiggling it around like that cause a bigger problem?).
OK, any tips for maintenance or making sure nothing worse happens, I would be so grateful-
    Thanks
    Samantha

  • Keywords imported but don't show up with photos

I am not getting keywords to show up with imported photos. i've done a lot of searching on this and other forums to try to figure out what is different about my situation but to no avail. here's what I've deduced though:
the keywords will import if I deselect “Copy the items to the iPhoto Library”. But if I leave the default box checked", I will not get keywords associated with the photos.
(the rest of my discussion deals with a library where the imported photos ARE copied to the library)
Interestingly, the keywords ARE imported into iPhoto (if one looks at the keyword list); they just aren't attached to the photos (i.e. clicking <Get Info> shows no keywords, as opposed to them being there but just not showing up on the screen with the image). Most (but not all) of my imported photos show up in iPhoto without any keywords attached. Most Events are all-or-nothing; i.e. all the photos of the event either have keywords or don’t. At least one Event is a mix. I cannot make any sense as to why some do, as the ones that do will be part of an event that all the other photo's don't show the keywords; additionally, neither the ones with nor the ones without keywords share any common feature or change (e.g. edited, rotated, file type, keyword/tag name, etc.).
I'm a pretty basic user when it comes to photos (but with a fair amount of common sense and computer knowledge); not trying to do anything fancy here. I don't know much about photography, so I'm not manipulating photo settings on my camera and am not (purposefully/knowingly) manipulating the metadata directly from the file. So, I'm baffled as to why my system would be acting differently than any other "out of the box" iMac.
    In case it matters:
-- the photos being imported originated from a Windows-based PC and tagged by Adobe Photoshop Elements. I have the same problem regardless of whether I export them (using Photoshop) to a file on the iMac or directly import them over the network from the PC using iPhoto.
-- (Using iPhoto Library Manager) I created another iPhoto library to see if the same thing would happen with photos imported to a different library -- same problem. (BTW, I checked the new library's Keywords BEFORE I imported to make sure the keyword "library" wasn't somehow replicated from the previous library.)
-- In one of your forum discussions, you said that these “copies” would be in the “Originals” folder within the iPhoto package, right? If so, then they are the same size as the files being imported minus a few KBs, presumably due to the lack of associated keywords.
I assume that these "copied" files are suppose to retain their keyword/tag info. Any ideas why they aren't and/or what I can do about it? I tried rebuilding the database too but that didn't do any good. I'm figuring on trying to reimport everything again, but I fear I'll get the same result.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First try the simple fix: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Launch iPhoto and see if the keywords show up. If not, then launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.
