Pictures fat on the tv

we are new to iDVD 08, made a side show with professional photos etc removed safe tv area and the persons in the photo/dvd are short/fat. we remove the safe area tv did professional encoding etc

If I recall correctly, there is a scale and preserve aspect ratio setting on the slide show creation screen. If you do not check that box, then images will be compressed/stretched in both directions to fit the screen.
