Pictures from Camera/flash card

Is there any way now, or in the future of a third party making a card reader or usb connection that will allow one to download picture directly to the nano? Or is the nano limited in design to not allow this to happen?

I'm worried about storage capabilities being overloaded.
Storage capabilities where?  On your Mac?  How much free space do you have on the Mac's HD? Macs normally have much more storage capability that memory cards in a camera.
Image Capture (located in the Applications folder) can be used to upload selected photos to iPhoto or a folder on the Desktop.

I have a new HP Photosmart 7529e all in one. I put my memory card in the slot but the printer screen does not show my computer as a destination.  I'm using Windows 7.  Nothing at the computer end acknowlages that the card is in the printer slot. How do I transfer pictures from the card to the computer?

How can I move pictures from my media card from my SLR camera to my IPAD2 without my iMac?

The Camera Connection Kit only accepts SD cards. Does your SLR use an SD card?

Just installed elements 10. When I try to download pictures from camera card, elemnets 6 comes up to process. I did mconvert.

It sounds like a configuration option.  I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Photoshop Elements forum though.   Also please include which operating system you are using when reposting your inquiry.

If you are adding the photos yourself, then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it with filenames exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus their file extension i.e. in the same format as if your digital camera had written them.

  • Is there any way I can view / remove pictures from Camera Roll on the iPhone, on a Mac, without actually importing the files?

Is there any way I can view / remove pictures from Camera Roll on the iPhone, on a Mac, without actually importing the files? I just want to view / delete files without importing them.
For instance I have 1200 photos on my iPhone Camera Roll. Some of these are shots, that I've taken multiple times, some good, some bad. I just want to clean up my Camera Roll, but going through the pictures on the iPhone's small screen is tedious. I'd much rather look at the camera roll's photo's on my Mac, and then decide which files I'd like to keep, and which to delete.
I don't want to import the files, as when I import the files, and delete them from Camera Roll, now the Photo's are not on my phone, and the only way to get them back on my Phone is to Import them back in using iTunes, and then they go into the Picture Library and not the Camera Roll.
In the same way as I can view Pics from my digital camera's SD card on a Mac without having to actually copy them to my computer, is there any app out there that will let me view my iPhone pics without importing them.

    The short answer is yes.
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
    Open Image Capture application.
Click on the 4 little squares at bottom to view them as photos, not a list.
Select the photos them click the No Entry icon at bottom to delete.

  • Downloaded pictures from an sd card

dI ownloaded pictures from an sd card using camera connection kit.  How do I get them into an album or folder  How do I use them in an app to edit them?

To move them into an album you tap on the little 'arrow swooping out of a box' on the top right and then that opens a dialogue for you to select the ones you want to move. you do that then choose where to move them to
To open them in an app to edit them, youopen the app and it should have a 'select photo' dialogue (exact wording varies from app to app) and you open the ones you want. You don't as much send your photos to the editing app as you use the app to go and get the photos.

I tried to download my pictures with my memory card from my camera (this has always been sucessful) however the pictures would not download, and appear to be encrypted and unable to view, also not saved in my 'Iphotos'  This also erased the pictures from the memory card. Help.....anyway of retrieving them?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
did you get a message when trying to import from the memory card?
did you use a card reader?
what was you exact workflow for attempting the import?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library? See image below:
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Why can't I download pictures from a flash drive to my iPad?

Why can't I download pictures from my flash drive to my iPad?

The USB Camera connecto (30 pin or lightning)r can read pictures from certain flash drives and imp[ort them to the iPad.
The pictures must be in a folder called DCIM and have a naming structure similar to what a camera would produce.  8 character names plus the 3 character extension.  ie. image001.jpg
Aside from that, some USB flash drives may require too much power which would cause the iPad to issue a warning.
How are you placing the images in the drive?
It the iPad issuing an error?
    What exactly are you doing?

  • Is it possible to upload pictures from an SD card reader to an iPad?

Is it possible to upload pictures from a SD card reader to an iPad?

Yes. You need the iPad Camera Connection kit. The photos have to be in a folder titled DCIM in the root directory of the card. The name has to be eight characters like a camera names photos.. The suffix should be .jpg but some other photo formats may work
BTW, this is the Mac Mini desktop forum

  • Lightroom 5 upgrade killed my workflow. What options are left for importing by reference from a flash card?

I just upgraded from Lightroom 1 to Lightroom 5.
I no longer see the option ~"Import from disk"
The application just magically decides what I am importing from.
Unfortunately, this used to be my workaround for keeping my workflow streamlined.
The import from disc option would allow me to import my flash card by reference
into a temporary catalog that would be active only until a full flash card
was archived. This temporarily catalog was used to delete rejects from my
flash card in a Lightroom-leveraged fashion. Once the latest photo update
on the card was clean, I would import by copy into a permanent catalog.
    This meant:
-Always two copies of images once I got back to base
-Ability to leverage develop tools in determining rejects
-No having to make a list of rejects and then deleting them separately
on the camera or through the OS
I see no way to do this with Lightroom 5 and Mac OS X.
I understand the problem might be coming from the OS change that happened
at the same time, but since ~"import from disk" is no longer in the menu, I am
suspecting the change is from the application itself.
I could probably find out the answer to my question through a bunch of experimenting,
but I thought I would float the question in an attempt to save time.
I'm not sure if I can run two versions of Lightroom at the same time on a Mac OS X
machine, but If I can, is this the only way to maintain my workflow?

"we have serious concerns about customers accidentally importing referenced files from a card that is subsequently reformatted in the camera"
I understand. So bury the option under the, "Only use if you really know what you are doing. You could destroy everything." heading, Or even as an external file of settings for people who know what they are doing. The point is this has forced me to take a step backward in my workflow which was already a workaround from what I really wanted. Ideally I have wanted all along:
-Import from flash card to main catalog by copy *and* a special-use link back to the flash card file for each image in the catalog
-When deleting rejected photos from the catalog, I would have a third option to delete rejected photos from the flash card.
This way, I avoid not only the new problems created by the Lightroom 5 upgrade, but I would be reducing my imports from two to one. With a slow USB connection, there were advantages in only importing by reference on the first import, but since things tend to run faster these days, I think I would come out ahead overall now.

  • Read a picture from compact flash

You may need to check the Advanced Guide for your MP560. This is part of the On-screen manual you can download from the Canon web site. Here is a link from the Canon Australia web site.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0300237701.html
The reason I suggest you check the guide is that according to the Guide for my MP980, the Card Slot cannot be used over a network for Mac OS X 10.5, and presumably 10.6. It functions fine when the printer is connected directly to the Mac via USB. But if you have the machine connecting via wireless to the Express, then it may not function. But given your model is a year newer than mine, maybe this limitation is no longer present. So, check the manual to confirm.

I updated my Macbook Pro last week to Lion.  I went to go import pictures from a memory card to my iPhoto, but only a portion of them loaded before my iPhoto froze and I had to Force Quit it. Now iPhoto won't even open... Help!
Please! I need an answer fast!!!!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • How can I transfer contacts from a flash card to my iPhone 5s?

  • How can I put selected pictures from camera roll into a seperate album removing them completly from camera roll??

Im gunna be straight up honest here.. I have some rude pictures of my girlfriend on my iphone which I would like to keep for my own personal viewing but obviously dont want family and friends seeing when they are flicking threw my camera album which often happens. I had intended to make a private album put them all in there and put a passcode on the album. With all of apples features I would of thought this would be a standard thing you could do, however when I made the private album the pictures were still in my camera roll and if I try to delete them I am told the pictures will be removed completly from my phone.. This is stupid. What is the point in being able to make albums if the pictures are going to still all be in the camera roll!? Does anybody know of a way I can move pictures from camera roll to a private album?? Any help would be much appreciated.

Photos placed in a user created album or in an existing album are not copied/duplicated. The photos placed in an album include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Camera Roll. Having an album for select photos is for viewing the select photos only without having to see all photos in the Camera Roll.
The same applies to albums transferred from your computer. All photos transferred from your computer are stored in the Photo Library. Photos on the albums below include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. The photos appear as they are duplicated when they are not. This way you can view the photos in an album only by selecting the album, or all photos on the Photo Library or Camera Roll by selecting it.
