Pictures/graphics on 3D models?

I'm trying to figure out how to add pictures or graphics (decals) on a 3D model when I import it to pdf.
I've tried to add the graphics in SolidWorks 2008 by using PhotoWorks and in Rhino 3 by using Flamingo but none of the graphics seem to be visible when imported into pdf.
Does anybody have any experience with that or is it just plain impossible?

Yes it's possible - the U3D format used inside a PDF supports bitmap textures for diffuse and reflection colors. The most common reason why a CAD file won't import with textures is that the file references their location using a path which doesn't make sense to Acrobat (for example some CAD programs store it as a relative path, but relative the CAD program itself).
If you can place your CAD file and all your textures in the same folder, and set the CAD file to reference them without any strange path info, then Acrobat will load them in. Sometimes that means picking the textures after they're in the same folder, other times there's a utility within the CAD application to "package" all the external assets into the same place.

  • I need to 'enable download pictures/graphics' in my Comcast email.

I get no images or graphics in my Comcast email. I need to 'enable download pictures/graphics' I believe to fix this. Text within a blank graphics box stated this. I'm using Firefox version 27. Windows XP. Comcast email server. Graphics quite showing in my email several months back all of a sudden. I've cleared the cache and cookies. I believe I tried resetting Firefox to default settings. I could try this again. Don't remember if I did this before or after email graphic problems. Comcast tech support could not help me. Thank you.

Cor-el, there are no links to the email images in Tools>Page Info>Media that I can see. When I right click the image placeholder and click Inspect Element, It shows line after line of what looks like code. No images loading are only a problem in my Comcast email. I've had three tech reps at Comcast try to solve it. None could. Websites load fine. Could the problem have something to do with my graphics card and driver? Thanks.

When I attempt to forward an email with a picture, graphics, website address included in the body of the email, the picture, graphics, or website address either disappears entirely or fades out to where it cannot be used.

Firefox does not do email and does not have an address book. You need to indicate what you are using for email. The question does not sound like a Firefox question,

  • How to get Yahoo Mail to allow pictures/graphics to appear within a received email and not just as an attachment?

When I receive emails that contain graphics and pictures within the body of the email they will be displayed only as attachments that have to be 'downloaded' and opened separately. I contacted Yahoo Mail and they said that it must be caused by my browser(Firefox). I have now difficulty with the graphic when I use Explorer. What setting, if any, do I have to change in Firefox to correct this?

Your signature says you have the latest operating system, Mavericks (10.9) but you've asked your question in the forum for Snow Leopard (10.6) which is a much older and somewhat different system. You are much more likely to get an answer in the forum applicable to your system, so I've asked the Hosts to move your question there (it may be a few hours before this happens). I put the note there so no-one else who looks at this need bother to make the request.

  • Mail doesn't send pictures/graphics.

I can get and send mail, but when I send mail it won't send any graphics with it or pictures. It just leaves them out.
    Thanks.

Have you checked your Compose options for sending mail? That is, are they set to send plain text messages or rich text? If they're set to plain text, try setting to rich text and sending yourself a test email using one of those messages you forwarded to others previously.
This is a fairly recent problem that's been reported, with no positive solution found yet, so you may want to try reapplying the 10.5.4 Combo Update.
My iphoto is gone and I was wondering if it had something to do with the upgrade mac made to mobile me.
No, MobileMe has no effect on that, because it's a service, not software on your Mac. And for people running 10.4.11, there is no MobileMe software to install like there is for 10.5.4. Either you deleted it by accident or it's been moved somewhere and you don't remember where. You should do a search of your hard drive to see if it is still there somewhere. If not, you can reinstall it from your iLife disc.

  • Apple Picture Wavy on Panasonic Model PT-W4734X HDTV Projection Monitor TV

Just purchased and installed and tried the Apple TV on my 5 year old Panasonic HDTV. While Apple TV connected and functioned correctly the picture was wavy. Worked with a couple of levels of support over the phone and ended up taking back in to the store to test out the unit. The unit tested okay on a flat panel. The HDMI cable and connection worked perfectly with the cable box on my TV so it appears that there is an incompatibility between Apple TV and the Panasonic TV model. So apparently there are some bugs to be worked out with some models of TVs.

I had the same problem. Apparently it's an issue with going to to a DVI input on your TV. However, glory glory, it has been fixed with the new 4.1 update. Thanks Apple for not letting us down.

  • Cannot Display Graphic in Viewing Model Results

In our project, we use a clustering model. After having trained the model, we try to view model result in graphic such as Influence Chart. Unfortunately, this problem occurs.
    <u>Note.</u>
when clicking 'Inter and Intra Cluster Distances Information,' we find the error message 'Error displaying additional information about clusters.'
    <u>Details of this message</u>
    Diagnosis
Error occurred while generating graphs for displaying the additional clustering information.
    Procedure
Ensure that the RFC destination IGS_RFC_DEST is configured to 6.2 or above version for the Internet Graphics Server (IGS).

If you have reimported the model or removed/added the controller to view context, the binding would have broken.  Make sure you see the outward arrow visible on the model attributes of view context exist, otherwise rebind the context to component controller or custom controller structures.
    Another tips is
You can try to display the size of the BAPI return output object, if it's 0 then there is no data returned.  I mean in the component controller you would have written retrieve method to fetch data from backend
    wdContext.node<your BAPI>_Input().
                       current<your BAPI>_InputElement().
                       modelObject().execute();
After executing above code, check your output object return code or message lines or a structure object size information.  If nothing is returned then there is a problem, sometimes return code and message lines will return something if your backend BAPI is executed.
Or as above posted suggested put external breakpoints in your BAPI and make sure the input parameters are correct.
    Hope this helps

  • Why pictures, graphics suddenly exgtremely large?

Pictures on shopping sites (Amazon, eBay, et al.) and in google images pages have greatly increased in size over the last couple of months. Text is also larger and with more white space -- e.g. this page I'm typing into.
I've emailed Amazon and eBay to no effect.
Can I make images smaller, graphics tighter using Firefox?

You can rename the content-prefs.sqlite file to content-prefs.sqlite.old (or delete the file) in the Profile Folder to reset the page zoom for all websites.

  • Adding pictures/graphics w TEXT to DV movies

In the past - I was told if I wanted to add a picture ( with text titling mixed in) to a DV quality movie in final cut pro - that I should use: 720x480 300 dpi Tiff file - however looks badly smudgy/ pixilated post importing.
Q: Why does this look so bad? Should I be using a different size/format?

    Thanks james -
BTW: The Text is Built IN the tiff picture
Now, the question is... are you applying any motion
(scaling, moving, cropping etc) to your TIFF image in
FCP? Or, is the image just being used as a static
    background with text on top?
I'm applying no Motion effects of any kind. I simply drag a clean tiff from the FCP browser to the timeline.
You might find that if you double-click on your TIFF
clip on the timeline, it opens up into the VIEWER
window as a perfect image... whereas, in the canvas
it looks fuzzy... this is basically a render
    issue...
    - when I double click - it seems as though the image looks equally fuzzy/smudgy in the canvas as well as the viewer
BTW: - I have the playback video quality set to HIGH and record to tape set to FULL quality.
Just to add... do you see the green preview render
line at the top of the timeline?
let me know how it looks if you double-click on it
and bring it to the viewer...
    - when I double click - it seems as though the image looks equally fuzzy/smudgy in the canvas as well as the viewer

Very often I receive pictures in emails which I would like to 'forward' to friends but as soon as I try the pictures disappear and the words are squashed up in one area of the page. Often there is a red X where the picure should be.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access web mail, you need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • Daed Graphics card - what model can I replace it with?

My Radeon 850XT died. I am having a lot of trouble finding out what I can replace it with, i.e. what's available and where to buy it.
    any recommendations please?

    Hi-
Bummer- that card is the most powerful card ever made available in an AGP G5.
If you stay with OEM cards, you are limited to a few, used or refurbs from highly priced Mac specialty stores.
eBay may be a better option for used. Many people go with flashed cards (PC cards converted to Mac ROM), simply because there are no real alternatives, other than high priced, or questionable used cards. Flashed cards are readily available on ebay, or, one may try to do it yourself, though the process is not a beginners endeavor. Flashed cards, with few exceptions, function as a real Mac card would, and are completely supported in the appropriate OS versions.
Your biggest problem, other than finding a card, is that almost all cards will be a step down from the 850.
There is one 8x AGP card, a flashed Geforce 7800 GS that will outperform the X850.
In order from powerful to weak, options are:
    Geforce 7800 GS (flashed)
    Radeon X850XT (used)
    Radeon X800XT (used)
Geforce 6800 Ultra (used or flashed)
Geforce 6800 GT (used or flashed)
Radeon 9800 XT (used or flashed)
    Radeon 9800 SE (used)
Radeon 9800 Pro (used or flashed)
    Radeon 9650 Pro (used)
Radeon 9600 Pro (used, flashed, or a new, PC and Mac version)
    Geforce 5200 (used or flashed)

  • MacBook Pro Repeatedly Loads Purple & Teal Stripe, Gray, Light Blue, Bright Blue and Bright Blue Stripe Screens Instead of OS after Optical Drive Replacement by Apple (PICTURES INCLUDED)

17 inch March 26-29 (order date – shipping date) 2011 MacBook Pro, 256GB Solid State Drive, 2.3 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, 1 processer, 4 Cores, 256 KB L2 Cache per core, 8 MB L3 Cache, 8 GB Memory (8GB 1333MHZ DDR3 SDRAM - 2X4GB), AMD Radeon HD 6750M Video Card, Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 512 MB total of VRAM. 110 GBs of free/unused disk space remaining.
Full Specs are in subsequent post.
The issues described in the title continue even after I’ve reinstalled the operating system twice (Snow Leopard) and installed Mavericks (which is working fine and even faster). I’ve tried many commands to repair this.
If anyone has experienced any of the symptoms above or below, your advice and response will be much appreciated as well as marked. These are the details:
My Early 2011 MacBook Pro has had the typical blue screens, screen freezes and graphics issues since I bought it about three years ago but nothing like this and NEVER any load issues until about a month ago. That was when my superdrive replacement was put in.
Since then my MacBook Pro will go into hard freezes or kernel panics. Then I’ll have to power it down manually and power it up manually. It’ll then refuse to load the OS until after multiple tries. It started out just 2 or 3, then 4 or 5, then 6-12, then 20. Now it takes over 30 boots to load the OS. These boot issues also occur even if it doesn’t freeze, i.e.: when I shut it down or restart it naturally (via the Apple menu, etc.).
95% of the time it’ll load to a gray screen instead of the OS. 4% of the time it’ll load to a light blue screen. Then there are the others: the first time this happened it loaded to the striped purple and teal screen shown in the picture. This happened the next four times then intermittently for about 5 or so more times.
It also loaded gray flickering screens. Flickering screens also occurred right before it froze and had to be manually powered down and up. Then it began to load regular gray and light blue screens and all flickering screens stopped. And then bright blue screens a couple times intermittently for a few days, sometimes with lines. Sometimes it’ll load to a blank/black screen as well. I’d reset the NVRAM and SMC but it still continued, happening multiple times a day, each time taking more and more hard shut downs and hard power ons to finally load the OS.
Until I installed Mavericks, every time it finally loaded the OS Finder began indexing. After Mavericks this has occurred 95% of the time.
After talking to Apple Support they had me do a NVRAM and SMC reset again over the phone. The MacBook Pro refused to load the entire time we were on the phone. After the call it got worse. It froze over 6 times that day and at worse took over 30 boots to load the OS.
I finally had time to deal with it the next day when it froze again. After over 25 boots it loaded and I put in the Snow Leopard OS dvd and ran Disk Utility. I verified the hard drive and it said it was fine. Repaired the disk anyway and it gave this message at the end:
“Updating boot support partitions for volume required”.
Next I tried to start in safe mode and it just hung up for hours. Then started up in single mode and it loaded the OS. It then loaded normally for three times in a row. I reinstalled Snow Leopard. Everything loaded normally. I waited an hour or so and then I downloaded Mavericks. 5 or so hours later Mavericks was installed. Everything hardware wise was fine for a day and all software issues were easily fixable incompatibilities. My Mac was even faster with Mavericks. However, Photoshop did give a perhaps relevant message:
“Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer’s website for the latest software.
GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences.”
(I have OpenGL enabled in Photoshop and it was already checked when this error occurred).
Two days ago I went to Disk Utility to repair permissions while logged in to a non-admin account. Verified and repaired the disk, then verified permissions. Everything fine. After repairing permissions however, it gave a weird error box:
"Unapproved caller, SecurityAgent may only be invoked by Apple software".
The box stayed “stuck” in the Disk Utility window. My MacBook Pro then failed to do anything. I manually powered it down and up. It loaded to a gray screen with the error message box again: "Unapproved caller, SecurityAgent may only be invoked by Apple software".
It then refused to load anything else but this message box on a gray screen even after rebooting it multiple times in safe, verbose and single modes and after resetting the NVRAM and SMC. I went online with an iPad and entered in the error and got some advice. I tried to run fsck and erase the /var/folders/ via single user mode but it still loaded to a gray screen with the error message. I just decided to skip to the end and Cmd-R loaded into recovery mode and reinstalled Mavericks again. That worked: the message has not appeared since.
Some people have said this error is related to a hard drive cable failure. I know that this cable was tampered with during the optical drive replacement procedures because I watched them do it.
Everything was fine for a day. Then yesterday my MacBook Pro froze while trying to open a VLC file. It took 12 boots to load the OS.  I tried single mode once and verbose mode once. 10 times it loaded to gray screens, even in those mode. A Safe boot lead to a bright blue screen. Finally reset the SMC and it loaded on the 12th time.
Just five hours ago the same thing happened except it took over 30 boots to load the OS. Single, verbose and normal boots, NVRAM and SMC resets lead to gray screens.  Safe boots lead to bright blue screens with and without lines (see pictures). Finally loaded on a normal boot.
I know I should have tried safe booting, verbose, single and recovery modes, disk utility, fsck and other command methods earlier this month but in the end, these methods have not solved the problem anymore than resetting the NVRAM or SMC.
There seems to be conclusive evidence that it’s a hardware problem, stemming from last month, the FIRST AND ONLY time my MacBook Pro was opened up. Maybe it’s the hard drive cable, but it could also be the graphics card and/or logic board (something that’s always been defective on this MacBook Pro, in my opinion). Many early 2011 MacBook Pro owners have given evidence to the latter possibility online.
The first time it started it seemed to stem from me using iPhoto and Photoshop a lot. I had both running continuously for about two weeks. This is another reason for suspecting the graphics card/logic board is at fault (in addition to three years of screen/graphics glitches). And since the card is soldered to the board and the board connected to the cable...I also have serious battery draining issues, something else that got bad after the Apple Superdrive repair. And the battery is connected to the board...
Also, since downloading Mavericks, windows from every app get blurry/fuzzy when I scroll or zoom in. I have read that this is happening to a lot of folks though for various reasons.
I guess it could always be the hard drive. I just don’t know. I’m taking it in to Apple, but can't right away because it’s not local.  I know they’ll be able to run a test on the hard drive. I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem (especially the purple and teal striped screen) before they start poking around, possibly creating another problem that goes beyond my Apple Care Plan allotment.

  • MSI GT683 Problem Installing Graphic Drivers

Hi to all, I need help about my laptop MSI GT683...I have bought a graphic card because my is broken, that is Nvidia GTX560M but I have a problem: when I install Windows and I try to install the driver the screen became multicolor and I can't do anything else. I seen that when the site of the nvidia auto reconizes the graphic card the model showned is Nvidia GTX560 SE...Another problem is that in the bios the model of the notebook is GT680R and I don't know why...can you help me?

What means "multicolor"? Do you have any picture of this symptom you described?
The model name in the BIOS depends on the graphic card you installed. Some models re-use the same barebone of the older models and their difference is only the graphic card, so MSI may only provide one version of BIOS but will automatically detect the graphic card to change the model name in the BIOS.
I'm not sure what's the problem you are facing but you can ask for help and contact local authorized service points.
