Pictures imported are blurry when viewing as slideshow

Hello everyone, I am new to this this business and am trying to create a picture slide show but am running into the problem of the picture which I have imported and added to the slide show being fuzzy when I view it on my laptop. Here are the specifics and what I have already tried. Thank you all in advance.
1. Have Adobe premiere elements 3
2. Pictures originally scanned in at 200 dpi, have also placed same picture at 400 and 800 dpi scan into slide show for comparison
3. Picture in question is a 3x5 and I have not touched any settings and have left them at defaults
4. Picture is in good condition and is in jpeg format

Thank you Paul, Steve.
Ok. I just checked my size in terms of pixels, at.....
200 dpi= 680 x 1010
300 dpi= 1020 x 1546
With that said, I am assuming that the higher the dpi count, the bigger the size (pixel wise). Could it be a issue of the picture being used "being too big" and PE is automatically converting it to what the preset optimum dimensions are? As a result, making the pictures blurry?
-In terms of resizing, how should I go about doing that? I have Photoshop Elements 5, would that be a good program to adjust the size to about 1000 x 750 pixels?
-When you say render and "hitting enter," when and where do I do that: when I am doing with the slideshow and I export, or how/when do I render and what is the procedure?
-The slideshow will be shown on a projector. What is the best method with the quality of the show in mind to show it....Direct link from laptop, AVI, DVD?
Again, a big thank you to everyone in advance.

Yes,   in library ive zoomed into 1:1 and the image is nice and sharp, but when i zoomed out, the sharpness disapears and the image is blurry again.  I see a lot of people are having this problem. I also called adobe and talked to someone and they had no idea whats going on,

  • HT204291 When viewing a slideshow i can't get portrait pcs to appear vertical.

When viewing a slideshow on apple tv my portrait oriented pictures show up landscape on tv. This does not happen when viewing on ipad where they rotate to correct orientation. If mirroring pic one at a time they are also fine. Problem only happens when using slideshow. Does anyone know if i have missed a setting and how i can correct?

I have the same problem. Did you get an answer from anyone?

  • Old applications are pixelated when viewed on my new laptop?

Hi I've got a new MacBook Pro with retina display and I'm having issues with some older applications, such as Adobe CS5 and Microsoft office (2011) are pixelated when viewed on my new laptop. How can I fix this?

There are only a few apps that have been optimized for retina display, all other apps, including CS5 and Office are basically zoomed up to fit the 2880x1800 screen.

    Hi Graffiti,
Thanks so much for your resply.  I am happy to say that the problem has been fixed by my customer updating her version of Adobe Reader 9 to the latest version.  I had sent her a few suggestions on how to try to fix the problem including that one from info I had read on the forum etc.. and that was the solution that worked.  I am so relieved that I was able to fix the problem and to answer your question the blank pages were only graphics no text but they were the only pages that the graphics took up the whole page.  I thought that was strange and had her change a setting in preferences for printing large images a solution I read in the forum but it did not work.

  • Pictures are bright when viewed in photoshop

I have a couple of computers with calibrated monitors (Huey for both xp and vista). So if I view a photo in photoshop elements (4 and 7 and also ACR as I import DNG's) the picture is brighter than any other applications I view it in (iview, canon's digital photoshop pro, safari, ie7 etc) and the print (using canon printer, paper, ink and profile).
They are brighter even when displayed side by side with the other application running at the same time. Adobe gamma shows up in the control panel but I do not have it in the start folder. I have spent about a week searching around the web and found other people with this problem but no answer.
Currently I solve it by doing adjustments in ACR then just before bringing it in I bring the blacks lighter by 3 points. In photoshop I have a layers level at the top of the stack and have the black marker up 5 points. Just before I output to a file or print I turn that layer off. This gives me comparible results but it does not feel like the right solution.
    Any ideas?
    Tony

I have also observed the same and the reason is processing algorithm of each software is different for Camera-Raw Files.
Since Camera-Raw files are raw information which is processed by each software in different ways.
I have obsrved that results are better in ACR sometimes and in opposite way...
Its better to get JPG through the application where you are getting good view. Also you need to some experiments to conclude something. I use Nikon D200 and normally process my files in PSE-ACR. Rarely process them in Nikon-NX
When I shoot in NEF+JPG in Camera, I get different previews in PSE due to the same reason. But I find it useful...

  • Scanned pictures blurry when viewed in iPhoto

I scanned old film pictures to desktop, then imported to iPhoto11. Images in viewed in Preview are clear but appear mostly blurry in iPhoto11. Can anyone assist?

Thank you for your reply. It seems if I use the arrow keys to go forward and back between pictures, they are clear. So not sure if they were just loading....but the pictures all seem OK now. thanks

  • Upgraded to 10.3.1 - photos appear blurry in the albumn but are fine when viewed on a computer

Hi - I upgraded to 10.3.1 on my Q5 last week.  When I take a photo it takes a while to appear and then looks blurry.  If I turn the phone off and try again it's fine for a little while then the same problem happens.  I downloaded the photos to my computer to double check them and they are clear on the computer, so it's not an issue with the camera as I first thought, but rather when viewing them.  I have no outstanding updates and I have searched all over the forums but can't see a solution.  Thanks in advance for any help.

can you please take one picture, view it when it is blurred and make a screenshot
and do the same after turning the phone off ?
then for both screenshots, you can attach them here so we can see.

  • IWeb and .Mac images are dark when viewed with PCs--how to fix?

I do my Photo editing in iPhoto on an iMac or an iBook, and the images look fine. Once posted to a .Mac or iWeb page, they still look fine on my Mac monitors, but when viewed on PCs and PC laptops, they are MUCH darker... The sites look terrible. The brightness on the nonMac monitors is turned up already.
Is there something special I should do to get images to appear correctly on nonMac machines?

Thanks for the responses. This has been a problem for a couple of years and this is real advice! I even had this problem with a book published through Apple. Anyway...
I didn't follow Barbara advice (OK, I'm slow, but I couldn't quite figure out where the gamma setting was), but I did use Falcon01's suggestion to use the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile.
I then reviewed and re-edited the relevant pictures. In this case, they are pictures of my girlfriend's condo she is trying to rent (mostly slightly off-white walls (aren't they all?) and dark, rich parquet flooring.) First, the pictures were darker, and I could adjust the exposure to much brighter, which helped a great deal. It did, however, introduce lots of color artifacts (pinkish blotchy walls). I drastically reduced the saturation which (good) made the walls look fairly normal, but (bad) made the rich wood flooring look drab and grayish. For this purpose, this will be satifactory--the pictures now at least are bright enough to not look dark and dank, and people can see what the rooms look like.
When I try this on important pictures of people and such, this approach makes me nervous. Most pictures will look awful if I boost expsoure and drain the color out. How do others handle this? Thanks in advance. BTW, here is the revised web site if interested.

  • Photos imported are blurry

    Hello!
When I import photos from an iPhoto library, they appear quite blurry (poor resolution) in the iMovie window. This happens in iMovie 3 and iMovie HD.
This also happens in applications with a similar importing format (i.e., with iPhoto library in the application window; e.g., Comic Life).
The imported photos are 1600 x 1200, and when viewed in iPhoto and other applications, are crystal clear.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!
    David

  • Portrait photo orientation issue when viewed in slideshow

I have experienced this problem since first upgrading to 8.0. I have upgraded to 8.02, but this problem persists.
Most (but not all) of my portrait photos display incorrectly during slideshows (but display correctly otherwise). The pictures are rotated 90 degrees and are squished vertically and stretched horizontally. The result are pictures that fill a portrait oriented "frame" but are sideways, squat and stretched width-wise.
As near as I can tell, all my photos that I took with my digital cameras (all Canons of various models) have this problem, while only some photos I have received from friends have this issue. Perhaps it is an issue with iPhoto reading Canon's orientation flag? But why is it only a problem in slideshows?
I'm uncertain if this is relevant, but I've also noticed none of my portrait photos display properly when viewed via Front Row.
So far the only trouble shooting ideas I've been able to think of are:
1 - Remake my slideshows from scratch
2 - Rebuild my photo library.
Neither of these fixed my problem. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Try quitting iPhoto and trashing your iPhoto preferences file ("your username" ==> library ==> preferences ==> con.apple.iPhoto.plist) when you launch iPhoto a new default one will be created - reset any user preferences you have changed and repoint iPhoto to the library if you have moved it

  • Still images are blurry when dropped into Canvas

HI, I am running Final Cut 7. When I drop still images into onto the Timeline, when I click on that image to appear in the Canvas they are blurry.  However, when I put on the Alpha+RGB they are as sharp as they normally are - except they are red.  How do I change this so they are sharp in the RGB channel?
    Thanks for your help

Thanks.  Like I said, I have downsized this still image to 720 x 576 at 72 ppi and it goes to crap.
I just changed the setting to HD 1280 x 720.  Import the 720 x 576 at 72 ppi ... looks good but needs to be rendered .. render and it goes to crap.  Everything that is imported needs to be rendered - then it all goes to crap. OR video looks good as a still frame and when rendered it goes to crap as it isn't HD but I thought it would be the quality of what it normally is just in an HD environment.
Thinking Final Cut X will solve these issues as it doesn't have these format problems like 7 does.

  • Project HTM Files are Blurry when opened in Web Browser

Hello, I'm hoping someone on this discussion board can help me!
I have created a video project for work in Adobe Captivate 6 and have published it. I now need to upload this video project onto our company's website.
In short, here is my problem: When I open the HTM file for my video project from the original file source, it appears normal. However, once I wrote a path to the HTM file in our website's HTML code and went to open the page in my internet browser (I've been using Firefox) the video appears blurry.
How can this be? Clearly the quality of the HTM file is fine, since it was not blurry when I opened it from the original file source. Can anyone think of a reason why it is blurry when opened in an internet browser? I know this sometimes can happen with the SWF files because internet browsers can alter their dimensions, but I thought using HTM files was supposed to help in avoiding these sorts of problems.
Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Sure.
Here is a screenshot from one of the older videos:
And here is a screenshot from my video:
They are essentially the same screen, but for some reason in my version everything looks far more pixelated. Any thoughts on this?
