Pictures in a video

Is there are way to put a "still frame picture" into a video for narration, a la Ken Burns type documentary? I am trying to mix video with stills and narration, like seen in a typical documentary you see. I am using IMove o8 so far and may upgrade to Final Cut if that helps.
Many thanks

One thing that might not be obvious.
Go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure there is a check mark by "Show Advanced Tools". This will add some tools to your toolbar (between the project pane and the events pane). The tool that looks like a Microphone is the voiceover tool.

Might need a little more information here. Are you trying to obtain screen captures? If all you're wanting to do is take stills from your videos then the answer is yes, you can but you'll have to transfer your videos from your iPhone to your computer first (unless you can find an APP on the iTunes store to help you to do it on your iPhone).
There are a few ways to do it. The first is that you can use the button on your keyboard called "Prt Scr" or "Print Screen". This takes a shot of your screen which you can then "paste" into a program like paint, or photoshop or even Word to then save as a jpeg image. When using this option a good trick is to use "Alt" + "Prt Scr" to only capture the current window rather than your entire desktop.
The other way to obtain screenshots is to download and install a program designed to do this for you. A great site to find something free to help you out is www.tucows.com. Try this link: http://www.tucows.com/search.html?search_scope=win&search_terms=screenshot&searc h_type=all
Also, some DVD programs have this function in built in them so it's a good idea to explore what's already installed on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Dynamic slideshow with pictures and Flash Video

I want to make a dynamic slideshow that shall include both
pictures and Flash Video. The user shall only have to put the files
(images/video) into a folder (for example with FTP or an
admin-utility) and then the Flash slideshow should present theese
pictures and video-files randomly. Is this possbile?
I know it is possible with pictures, but can you also include
    Flash Video into this scenario?

yes you can, you can load '.SWF' files in or you can use the
    vidplayer to play '.FLVs'

  • Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?

Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?
I haven’t been able to find any.
Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.

Thanks for the rapid response to my enquiry.
I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
    Regarding QuickTime.
Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.
    Back to DVDs.

  • How can I export a still picture from a video clip?

How can I export a still picture from a video clip?

I'm able to export stills from iMovie without anything extra. I create a new project - call it Exports say. Now, in your event clip with the frames you want as stills, select a single frame and drag it into your project. Repeat for other stills you want to export. Then choose Share -> Export Using QuickTime.
In the pop-up, choose Movie to Image Sequence. Click Options and choose the image format you want. Playing with the number of stills lets you pick how many stills you want from each second of video. Hit OK and the stills will be generated in the directory you choose.
I've only done this with HD video. Don't know how well it works with lower res, interlaced vid.

    Tom

On March 2, Firefox 3 series downloaded a new version, and I also downloaded a new flash version.
Since then, I have not been able to see a picture in YouTube videos.

  • How do I import a picture in a video?

Hi,  When I drag the picture into the video the picture in video option does not appear. What else can I do?

If you go into your settings and set your still frame duration to one frame you can drag a folder of images onto your timeline and it will act like a full length shot. It can tend to slow down Final Cut but it's worked for me in the past.
You can always place it on a timeline, export that as a quicktime, then re-import the clip if it's too clunky to work with the image sequence on your timeline.

  • Sticking a picture on a video clip

    Hi,
I was just wondering how I could put a small picture inside a video clip using iMovie HD. I'm trying to achieve the national geographic/history channel look with a small logo on the lower/upper right corner of the video.

  • Is there to tell photo shop to create only a catalog of pictures and not videos?

Almost all new cameras capture photos and videos. I have Photoshop Elements and Photoshop Premier. Is there a way to tell Photoshop to create a catalog of only pictures and not videos? And on same token tell Photoshop Premier to create a catalog of Video only and not pictures?

The downloader is the module which is used to get the files from your camera or card reader.
If you want to import files which are already on your computer, that is different. To get 'photos and videos'  ... from 'files and folders', you have to browse your computer to the location of the photos. This selection process in made in your OS (Explorer or Finder). Then you can use your OS to sort by file type, and select the correct type, like jpeg; select the first item, then shift click the last one. All your jpegs are selected and imported.

  • Picture taking and videos vs. a digital camera?

I mananged to break my Sony 3.2 Megapixel Cybershot camera. I have been pleased with it, picture abilities, short video ability.
Anyway, it may not be worth fixing.
How does the iPhones photo and video taking ability to compare to a digital camera like this?
I would LOVE an iPhone, but can't justify buying one yet due to tight business budget, but if it can do great photo and video taking compared to a camera than I may just have to get one
Thanks in advance for all input!

Hi AndreaFahy, iphone takes nice simple still shots, it lacks a flash but you should be able to get good results in normal indoor lighting as well as outdoor daytime shooting. There are NO exposure adjustments on iphone, what you see is what you get. You must hold iphone very steady when pressing the shutter button or your picture will be out of focus, there is no tripod socket on iphone. There is NO video mode on iphone.
    Hope this helps, Steve.

  • Why can't I take a picture while recording video on iPhone 4S with iOS 6.0

I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0 and I've read the user guide, but cannot seem to get it to take a picture while recording video.

    1. Open the camera app.
    2. Move the slider from in the bottom right from photo to video.
    3. Begin recording your video.
    4. While your video is recording, tap the camera icon in the upper right to take a photo.
    5. You'll see the shutter close on your screen each time you snap a photo.
    6. Your photos will be saved to your camera roll.
    Edit:
Just noticed you have a 4S...iPhone 5 only, sorry.

How do I access my pictures and home videos from my desktop on my apple TV?  only my music and movies in itunes is showing up.  My icloud pics are coming up but nothing on my desktop.

You would need to have home sharing enabled on Apple TV and iTunes.
Setting up Home Sharing for Apple TV (2nd generation and 3rd generation) - Apple Support
They would be accessed by going to the Computers icon on Apple TV. . Your computer would need to be on and running iTunes.
