Pictures in Book appear Distorted

OK so I have a book that I painstakenly created in iPhoto (iLife 11, OS X 10.7.1) about 4 days after ordering it I got the following email...
"Dear Apple customer,
It appears when your order was submitted, an error caused your image file to be unprintable. The file Apple received contains shifted and discolored images. As a result, Apple is unable to process your order and you will not be charged."
So after some digging around I found this article which appears related to my problem..

The problem is if I set iPhoto to edit photos in Photoshop when I double click on an affected image, Photoshop tells me the image is already an 8bit RGB profiled image.
Has anyone got any suggestions, advice?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

IPhoto books appear oversaturated

I realized some iPhoto books and I was disappointed by the quality of the pictures because they appear oversaturated.
I tried saving the PDFs from iPhoto and also the PDFs appear oversaturated if I open in Adobe Reader or Apple Preview.
But the pictures (all with embedded sRGB color profile) are well balanced in iPhoto and in Photoshop, and If I make photographic prints they are OK.
Where is the problem? Is in the PDF conversion made from iPhoto when it sends the books to print?
I work on a MacPro with Snow Leopard, and a LaCie 324 monitor calibrated with Xrite instrument. I live in Italy and the iPhoto books are printed in Europe, the first time I received them from Czech Republic, the second from Holland.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance

ITunes always can't download an update because there are errors. If I remove iTunes completely from my computer, will all my songs I dowloaded from CD's, pictures, e-books be gone?

Each time I try to download an update for iTunes, I can't because it tells me iTunes on my computer has errors and nothing I try can repair the errors. It gives me the choice to try to repair, but of course it can't repair because it always says it can't repair, the other choice is to remove iTunes from my computer. If I remove iTunes and reinstall it, will my music, pictures, e-books still be there or will it be empty?
I'm afraid to remove iTunes because I don't want to lose my data. On the other hand, I think I will have to remove and re-install to have the most up-to-date version with no errors.
Has anyone completely removed iTunes and reinstalled, and if so, was everything still there? Especially CD's I have imported, etc.?

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour and QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Quicktime plays certain avis with no picture, and/or a distorted one.

I have a series of avi files, and while Quicktime is able to play half of them with both picture and sound, the others have sound only. Some of those which do play also have distorted pictures, in that they were originally widescreen, but appear in the Quicktime window as fullscreen. This results in the images being squeezed in from the sides, like the trick mirrors we see at carnivals.
When I play the avis using VLC, it restores the missing picture and returns the distorted images to the widescreen format. So I'm wondering if there's a way to make Quicktime do the same thing. I would like to put these avis into an iMovie document and burn them onto a DVD for TV viewing; hence, just using VLC really doesn't solve my problem.
Perhaps someone can explain why these things have happened, and where I might go for more information on it.

I should have mentioned that I have already have Perian 1.1 in my System preferences, and that yesterday I had installed Flip4Mac WMV, which was also showing up in System Prefs. I've since uninstalled it, but my problem persists.
For quite some time, I've been trying to find out whether any software exists to correct the distorted avi files which I discussed in my earlier post (above). The frustrating part is that I'm not sure whether I'm describing the problem accurately enough, or using the wrong terminology.
I doubt that I'm the first person to experience this distortion, but even Googling it doesn't help, since I don't know precisely what to search for. I only know that typing "distorted avi files" has provided nothing useful so far.

HT4236 pictures don't appear in order on the ipad

Make sure that you have enabled (checked) Advanced Tools in the General tab under the iMovie menu item "iMovie>Preferences".
Also, a Picture-in-Picture (PIP) can be inserted only into clips in a project - not clips in an Event.

What version of iPhoto are you using?
Go thru each page, check the layout to see if there's a text box included on the page and make sure there is text in that text box. If not it may show the "holding" text like this:
If you don't want to change the page layout to one that only has photos and no text boxes just select that holding text and put a space in its place.

Yes, you're safe to continue. That means that there are text boxes that you did not put any text into and they contain the holding text which will not be printed. That text is shown in a light grayt and is in Latin. Normally you can just put a space in the text box to replace the holding text so as not to get that warning message.
Before ordering the book proof the book according to this Apple document: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture. Check the pdf file for any missing text or photos and any warning indicators in the text boxes indicating that some of the text has exceeded the space allotted in the text box.
Keep the pdf file to compare with the printed copy when you reciive it.

What upgrade did you apply? As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Sounds like you are missing the Mail Toolbar.
Do you have a Menu Bar with File-Edit-View etc?
If not press the alt key to make it appear.
From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbars back on.
Write and Address Book are on the Mail Toolbar.
FYI: The alt key or F10 will make a missing toolbar appear in most applications.
