Pictures in date order

I've got a lot of pictures of my baby girl on my iphone but in their subfolders they are 'not' in date order...can anyone tell me how i can do this...surely there is just a button you can select to do this ?!

I have even put one of the folders, and it's contents into order i.e. ak1, ak2 etc and that doesn't work - any suggestions ?!

  • How can I have uploaded pictures to iPhone or iPad be sorted by file name. Used to be able to based on their folders, but it no longer works and puts pictures in random order, I guess by date, which doesn't work for me. Need them by file name.

Using windows. In the past I was able to have the picutres sorted in files and by file name and that is how they showed in the phone or pad. Not long ago one of the itune updates changed so it sorted by date and the the another update changed so it went by file name. Well when I got a new computer and updated itunes it won't load pictures in correct order. Is there an option I'm missing or is this an option that Apple should have for how you want pictures sorted?

  • In the last 36 hours my photos have jumbled within various albums. Random photos have attached at the end of an unrelated album, old photos have appeared again on Recently Added, some photos are missing but still on "collections". No date order

Within the last 36 hours my photo albums have turned into a real jumbled mess. Random photos have appeared at the bottom of my Recently Added album. In most cases it's a copy of a photo that was taken months or years ago so now it appears twice.. 200 random photos have appeared in an unrelated album.  Some photos are missing completely. The date order is correct in some places and then it goes back and forth over the months and years. The "collections" appears to be okay.  This morning when I went into the photo app About 50 photos that were permanently deleted 3 months ago reappeared on the Recently Added Album which  I deleted again.  if  I delete these irreplaceable photos from the unwanted album it will delete the photo completely. Help please - this is so annoying and frustrating. I hate to think when I turn the iPad on tmoor row what else will have changed .

    Quick Update:
I usually have my Mac laptop up with Messages running on it.  As you know, it will receive the same messages you send/receive on your iPhone.  I thought all my old photos would be there too, but they have all disappeared as well except for the last few.
Messages is supposed to archive all old photos to  a directory called ~/Library/Messages/Attachments.  On my mac, this was a 0 byte file that was created back in Jan 2014.  As a result, none of the old photos got saved on my Messages app either.  I looked at a Time Machine Backup and it has been the case since September (no earlier backups available).  So, it's unclear how long this issue has been going on for my Messages app and how related it is to my iPhone problem.
In any case, if any of you use Messages, you may be able to recover your photos in that directory provided it didn't get trashed like mine did.  I moved the file and created a new Attachments directory.  Upon relaunch, Messages started properly storing new photos in there again.
Either there was a really terrible bug in the Apple software or something malicious has happened.
P.S.  I'm running OS 10.9.5 Mavericks.   There is a thread of people with this problem on Yosemite here:
No pictures are shown in Message om Mac
This seems like a pretty seriously terrible bug.  I will be talking again to AppleCare on Wednesday and I hope they can escalate this.

  • Just purchased a new iMac and transferred all info from my old iMac. Now when using iPhoto slideshow is displays the pictures in reverse order.

Just purchased a new iMac and after transferring all info from my old iMac.  Now when using iPhoto slideshow it  displays the pictures in reverse order.

There's a bug in iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks that affects slideshows played directly from an album.  The slideshow will not play correctly if the photos have been sorted manually.  Any other type of sort, date, rating, keyword or title, will play correctly.
If you need that manual sort of pictures for your slideshow create the slideshow in iPhoto's slideshow mode.

  • IPhoto 9 v. 8.1.2 How do I arrange my pictures in chronological order?

    iPhoto 9 v. 8.1.2
    OS X 10.8.5
    Hi
In any iPhoto window, my pictures don't layout in chronological order. I would like them to. I need to look at my pictures and see them in the sequence in which I took them. In the Mac Finder, there are many choices given for how to arrange files and folders. The one I would like to have for iPhoto is "Date Added".
How do I arrange my pictures in chronological order?
    Thanks

    Terence,
OK. I see that now. Thanks.
I looked up DSCF. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on just what the acronym means.
Digital Still Camera Fujifilm. I'll take this since my camera's a Fuji.
Digital Storage Compact Flash (digital camera)
Choosing "sort by title" seems to work to layout the pictures chronologically (Attachment 1.). The title appears to be the DSCF followed by a number and the number sequence represents the sequence the pictures were taken in. This is also my recollection of what sequence the pictures were taken in.
What I don't understand is "sort by date" (Attachment 2.) "Sort by date" throws all that DSCF sorted by title out of sequence. I can't figure out what the pattern it is that's created here. Where is Iphoto picking up it's dating data, and why are the DSCF numbers out of alignment?
    Attachment 1: Sort by title
    Attachment 2: Sort By Date
    Thanks for your input,
    Rafael

  • PHOTOS IN CHRONOLOGICAL / DATE ORDER

I am using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.00.
I wish to organise my photo collection in date order. For example a recent special holiday starts at the end as slide 1, which also means the slide show automatically starts at the end. I have tried to change this by going to 'view', then 'arrangement' then 'date oldest first' but there is no response to clicking this. I just wish to reverse the order but also some of the pictures are out of sequence too, which is puzzling me!
Has any one got some tips as to how I overcome this challenge? I expect it will be really easy!!
Apologies if this is the second time this message has been posted..I wasn't sure what happened to the first.
    Penny

    Hi Penny,
The order for collections is entirely manual. You can put them in any old
way you want... but as you are finding, you can't do them automatically.
Now... one thing you COULD try is to fool the system a little bit.
Create a new Tag called "Reverse" or whatever you want. Select all the
images you want in the collection and then drag the tag onto the images.
Click on the tag and then reverse the order from oldest to newest. Create a
new collection name... drag it onto this reverse order set up...
Click on the collection name and that SHOULD put it in the order you want.
    Cheers

  • Places Slideshow will only play photos in date order

I am having a problem with the Places theme in Slideshow in that it will only play the slides according to date. I imported photos from my camera and maunally tagged them in Places with various cities. I then created an album, manually moved the photos into the order I wanted (made sure that "manually" is the setting in the sort options in the View Photos menu) but when I play the slideshow, it will only play the slides by date. This only occurs in the Places theme as the others themes play the order correctly. It happens whether I create a slideshow or just press the slideshow button at the bottom of the screen in album mode. I even tried to batch create titles for the photos, appending them by number and them sorting them by title and still they will only play by date. I'm hoping this is something simple that I am overlooking as I really recently came back from an overseas vacation and would like to use the Places theme for a family slideshow.

I ran into the same problem.  I created a new library just for creating the slideshow so I would not mess up the original pictures.  After arranging all of the pictures in a album in the order I wanted (manual sort) I batch changed the date time stamp of the pictures with a one minute interval between them.  This puts all of the pictures in chronological order and then places them in the order you like for the places slideshow.

  • Change iPhoto events in Aperture to date order, instead of ABC?

    Hi
I like how Aperture 2.0 works with iPhoto imports better, listing events. However, it lists my iPhoto events in ABC order. I'd much prefer them to be listed in order by the date they were shot or whatever like in iPhoto. Anyway to do this?
    Thanks so much!!!

If, like me, you used Events as your main organizational tool - you will really be disappointed in Photos.   My Albums transferred, but I had over 100,000 pictures, taken over 13 years and organized mostly by the "Event/Title" line above each group of pictures.   Those titles did not transfer to Photos.
They do have an Album titled iPhoto Events and a lot of events are in there - however, not all and they are in a completely random order.   In my case, over 3,000 events with absolutely no way to find anything other than scroll through or possibly search.  Also, at this time there is no way to move forward with Event organization as it does not exist.   There is not way in Photos to label each days photos with an event or title.   It's like one big huge shoebox with date order the only organization.  Ridiculous.
I mostly use a 35mm SLR Camera without any GPS designation - so I now have 109,000 photos in one big list organized by nothing but the date taken or scanned.
I have also scanned a lot of family history photos and old family photos - fortunately I put most of those in Albums - otherwise Photos is very excited to just list them according to the date I scanned them which has nothing to do with the content of the photo.
Definitely back up your iPhoto before you do anything.   I am looking for an outside program that will continue my organization and not throw everything out on the whim of people who just use photos for social media and sharing.   This change made me realize that Apple has no intention of creating and keeping a serious organization system for amateur and professional photographers who have a large number of files that need to be organized and kept for many years.

  • Why can't I save pictures with Dates in name such as 2010/05/20 subject.jpg?

I am trying out Photoshop CS5 before I buy and found out I can no longer save pictures by dates to keep them in order. It has worked in every photoshop I have owned before. If you use a photo name like 2010/05/20 subject.jpg It gives you (could not save as "2010:05:20 subject.jpg" invalid file name)

I don't have a copy of CS5, so cannot confirm, but...
Apple did a very strange thing when it changed from System 9 to OS X (a long time ago!). The separator character in System 9 paths was ":", while the separator character in Unix is "/". This means that you cannot have a ":" in a file name in System 9, and you cannot have a "/" in a file name for Unix, including all versions of Mac OS. There is a work-around that I don't really understand that allows Mac to put a ":" in a file name on OS X that is then displayed as a "/". You can test this by creating a file with "/" in it and then doing a "ls" in Terminal. A file named "This/file/has/slashes.rtf" in Finder becomes "This:file:has:slashes.rtf" in Terminal.
In any event, this work-around is a recipe for disaster (a file has a different name in the Finder than it when looked at by Unix command-line tools?--careful!).
I always use dashes in my dates.
I suspect that CS5 is using different Apple code than CS4, resulting in this issue.

  • Why isn't date order synced with iOS devices?

    Hi all
My syncs from various Aperture libraries to iphones and Apple TVs all have one consistent issue; that the pictures always sync oldest first.
This is despite me changing the order in Aperture to Descending date order and resyncing.
Not a deal breaker but a tad annoying. I'm finding myself scanning through 100's of pics to get to the ones I took most recently (when looking at them on the ATV or iPhone).
    Any suggestions to remedy?
    Thanks!

Photos sorting wrongly on Apple's own devices is a longstanding and very annoying issue. I believe if you set an album or project to manually sort in Aperture, then this ordering will be preserved on your iPhone.
You should also send Apple feedback to let them know your frustration!

  • Photos. They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. Copied them (hours and hours) to external hard drive. They are now in alphabetical order (19,000  of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order-and have been taken with different cameras- help!!!!!!

    Photos.
They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. There are 19,000+ of them, some rescued from a pc crash- which I used the nifty iPhoto to put back into date order.
I want to take them all off my laptop, now............as I need to use it for WORK!!
Copied them (hours and hours) to another external hard drive.
They are now in alphabetical order (all 19,000+ of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order. (-They have also been taken with different cameras over the years and some of the generic camera numbering remains.)
I have tried to copy them (only a few as an experiment)  one event at a time, but that again "opens up" the Event "folder" and tips them out as individuals and therefore just lists image letters and numbers alphabetically.
    How can I copy
the whole library still in  "Events" to an external hard drive?
the folders/albums I have already made on to this hard drive?
and how can I add to this back up monthly, again keeping events and folders separate and updated?
Mac is so user friendly - there must be a way.........
    Thanks

UPDATE : I have re-installed from disk, various apps that were no longer functioning such as iLife, iWork etc. So, I now can access my photos again.
Also, I had to re-install all the software for my printer ( Stylus Pro 4880 ) and reset it so the printer is working again.
Photoshop CS4 won't open. I think I will have to get in touch with Adobe as basically, I guess they have a built-in "blocker" which prevents me from opening the app as the license is for only 1 user and having re-installed the OS, there are now, in effect, 2 users ( Me and Me 1, I think ).
So, having added on a new external HD, Time Machine has made a copy of most of the files, folders, apps etc onto the external HD. The internal HD is still nearly full ( 220 GBs out of 232 GBs ).
I am guessing the way to go now in order to free up space on the internal HD is to delete/trash older photos from my iPhoto library and hope that if needed, I will be able to access them on the external HD.
Am I correct ? Please advise before I do something I will regret.
    Thanks, Sean.

  • Apple TV (1st gen) photos in an Event not in date order

I have synced selected Events from iPhoto to my Apple TV 1st gen with iTunes 11.0.1
The events synced are "merged" events from 2 cameras on a month-by-month basis.
In iPhoto, I have the event sorted by date, but on the Apple TV, the photos are NOT in date order.
How can I get the Apple TV to reflect the choice I make in iPhoto ??

    Thanks Winston

  • Dunning Letters- Invoice Date Order

    Hi all,
When running Dunning the invoices are shown NOT in date order ie oldest invoice first in the list and then going through in date order to the latest at the bottom. Is it possible to have the oldest invoice at the top down and going down to the latest invoice at the bottom?
    Thank you,
    MB

    Hi,
Yes you would think that but in fact the dates are all mixed up ie 11.09.10 then 11.08.10 then 08.11.10 etc
    Strange but true!
    Any ideas?
