Pictures in folders?

In Aperture 2, I created a project, now I want to put a folder underneath it (witch i have). Can you put pictures in folder? If so, how do i do it? If not, what's the point of folders?
Thanks
Why_atl

Projects are the smallest organisational unit for images in Aperture. If you want to divide images in one of your projects into several organisational units, you can use albums within a project and the albums can be contained within folders. The only thing to watch out for, is that the same image can be in several albums at the same time.
If you do not like that, simply create a new folder at the same level as your project, create projects in that folder that correspond to the several organisational units you want to create and move your images into these projects.

  • My picture folder is missing from my laptop and I am having trouble with how to organize my pictures in folders

I have been trying to learn how to use my MacBook Pro better so I can get my photos on it. I do not like iPhoto at all because it was not letting me organize my photos the way I always did in Windows Explorer. I am now trying to use Lightroom and I have run into some issues with how my photos are showing up.
    1. Whenever I removed my photos from iPhoto so I could start over, my Picture file in Finder disappeared. I do not believe I deleted it but somehow I must have. I was trying to just delete my pictures from Imgages under All My Files. I thought that All My Files was duplicating data and I don't want duplicate pictures on my computer. However, now I am just wondering if All My Files is just a link to my actual files. What is the purpose of that?
    2. I imported one photo card to try to work with it and made a new Pictures folder on my desktop and arranged it using some folders and sub-folders I created.
    3. I then uploaded these through lightroom.
    4. Somehow, all of my photos were showing up in images, which is not where I wanted them and I deleted the duplicates.
    5. Now many of my folders in the Picture file I created on the desktop are empty with no photos
    6. I tried to restore my pictures from the trash to Images under All My Files and it keeps putting them into documents
    7. I have been trying to learn how to use this computer but it seems so different from what I was always used to with Explorer. This should not be that complex but I search and search on the web and can't seem to find exactly what I need to help me

iMessage and FaceTime went down yesterday for some people. Mine is still down. My iMessage is saying the same thing about being activated. Sounds like you are still down too. Ignore the status page that says everything is fine - it lies.

  • Can't move pictures between folders in a library

For some reason I cannot drag-move pictures selected in the filmstrip or in the grid view to another folder in the library folder tree.Clicking on a picture in the filmstrip and dragging to another folder does not produce the familiar hand associated with moving files.
This just started happening. It may be tied to inadvertent setting of read-only status in the underlying hard-disk folders. I was able briefly to recover the ability to move files by un-setting the folders's read-only status via windows properties. After the first time this did not work again, as if something was actively setting read-only. I don't know that this is the cause, it just seemed to track for a moment (untill it didn't.. )
Is there a LR3 setting that would lock files as read-only, or otherwise disable the ability to organize pictures using drag and drop?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Adding pictures to folders

I just installed Leopard and I have noticed that some folders have pictures embedded on the outside of them. Is there a way that I can put pictures on the outside of folders that I create? If so, how?

  • Can I import pictures into folders not based on when the pictures were taken?

I am organizing my familes pictures and trying to sort what I already have and what is new.  There are a lot of pictures.  I have them organized on the hardrive and want to import them into iPhoto, but when I do that they are instead organized by the date taken...I want to keep them in the same folders/organization I have on the harddrive...is there a way to do that and if so how?
    Thanks
    Kris

    No
I assume you are talking about events - in iPhoto folders do not hold photos, they hold other folders or albums - all importes create one or more events - you can not change that
basically you are approaching things wrong - leave events as date based buckets of photos and use albums and folders to organize along with keywords. palces and faces and samrt albums

  • Pictures inside folders not projects?

I have come across a rather anoying problem inside of aperture of which I am not sure weather it is of my own doing or simply a bug inside aperture.
I am in the process of organizing my pictures into projects, folders and albums. Now I have one particular folder that contains three projects. These projects, in turn, contain 30, 29 and 40 pictures respectively. The folder containig the projects however contains 450 pictures, many of which i do not whish to be there.
My question: how can a folder in aperture contain more pictures then all of the projects within it? And how can i delete these pictures from the folder but not from other projects in my library?
    Thanks in advance

In addition to clearing all the container filters in order to get complete Image counts for each container, confirm that there are no Images in any regular Albums* in the Folder that are not also in the Projects in the Folder.  The total number of Images in a Folder equals the number of Images in Projects in the Folder plus Images which are not in those Projects but are in Albums in the Folder.
    * Regular Albums are static.  "Smart Albums" are dynamic.  Naming two very different containers "Album" and "Smart Album" seems a badly played opportunity to inform users, imho, especially in light of the added complexity of Aperture having all those other static Albums (Book, Light Table, et al.).

  • Exporting of pictures with folders and subfolders from Aperture

I was importing folders with subfolders structure to Aperture 3.
Is possible later export my pictures from structure in Aperture to folders and subfolders with same structure like it was before importing to Aperture?
    Thanks.

I'm assuming you imported using managed files and not referenced files? If referenced (leaving files in place), then your files are in the same folder structure as before.

  • Finding "My Pictures" In Folders Tab

Bridge cannot find "My Pictures" from the Folders tab. It finds everything else, but not My Pictures or Pictures, whatever. Further, selecting Hudechrome which ostensibly has My Pictures in the list, whether Hudecrome is opened using Favorites or Folders tab, My pictures doesn't show. Finally when I do get it because it is checkmarked in Preferences, the Path Bar show Desktop>Hudechrome>My Pictures.  Clicking it changes to C:\Users\Hudechrome\Pictures (not My Pictures), and does not indicate Desktop in the path. (Desktop is incorrect in any case)
    So, what's going on?
    Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. CS5.

Ok, I figured it out: You don't fix problems in Win7, you vaccinate it. As in human vaccinations, nothing happens when you step out of the doctors office, except for a tingle at the site of the vaccination. Just give it time.
Well, this morning, with no changes whatsoever since posting the query, it's working fine." My Pictures" appears where it should and the Path Bar now reads correctly, inserting the proper elements in the path tree. All I did was check "My Pictures" in Bridge Prefs.(before I even posted the thread).
I did multiple reboots etc to see if that is what was required, all the usuals. Before I gave up and attended to Christmas duties," My Pictures" only appeared on the Favorites tab. The Path bar was nonsense. That was it.
So vaccination it is, either Win7, Bridge or the combo. Who can tell me otherwise?
Hey! Maybe it was Santa! After all, I made a brunch favorite for 24 folks. He took the lump of coal from my stocking and fixed my computer!
Ok Santa is only once a year, and I can't wait that long for the next problem to self resolve. I really would like to have some clue, if any are available.
    Happy Holidays!

  • Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc Folders Invisible for Mobile Accounts

For some reason, when any user navigates to their home directory, most of the subfolders (Applications, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures, & Public) are invisible. It's not consistent which ones can be seen: one user can see Library and Desktop, while another can see only Library. It is possible to navigate to any of the folders with the Go to Folder item in Finder's Go menu. Here are the results from listing everything in my own home directory (ls -l@):
    drwx------@ 3 username staff 264 Sep 15 12:37 Desktop

    com.apple.FinderInfo 32
    drwxr-xr-x+ 2 username staff 264 Sep 15 15:35 New Folder
Library and New Folder are the only ones I can see in Finder. All of the invisible ones have extended attributes, but, oddly, when I navigated to one of the invisible folders in Finder and Get Info on it, there is no "invisible" checkbox in the General settings.
Here is some more info on the network setup:
Network is a Golden Triangle: our OS X server is bound to the Active Directory domain, and each client is bound both Open Directory and AD (OD has higher precedence in search policy). Network accounts are created in AD with the home folder at //osxserver.domain.local/Network Users/username (mapped to drive X:\ or Z:\ for Windows users). Accounts are imported into OD, which (through policy on each user's group) creates a mobile account at login (no prompt) using the network profile and syncs at login, logout, in background and manually. The client-side AD plugin does not force local home directories, derives network home from UNC path in AD (using AFP), and allows administration by domain admins; all other settings are default.
Any help in making all folders visible would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the results from listing everything in my own home directory (ls -l@):
Use the xattr Terminal command to clear that attribute. For usage instructions, run xattr -h.
All of the invisible ones have extended attributes, but, oddly, when I navigated to one of the invisible folders in Finder and Get Info on it, there is no "invisible" checkbox in the General settings.
    That's intentional.

  • Picture's folders

Can you make seprate folders for your pictures within "windows" somehow if you sync 'em through the "photos" tab in the "device" menu for a iphone4S or ipad2?

Good to see that the issue has been resolved by "bumping" the thread.
In the future, bumping a thread is tacky in forums and marking your own response as a correct answer will only get people to ignore the thread.
Have you tried reading the User's Guide for instructions on how to sync photos?

  • Pictures from Folders on one Drive not showing in Organizer

Because one external drive failed,  I had to transfer two large folder (with sub folders) from a backup drive to a new drive.  Organizer sees the folders but does not show that there are any images in the folder.  The images do show up when you get them in PSE by doing a File>Open.  How can the situation be corrected?

Because PSE uses the unique volume ID of the drive to keep track of where your photos are located, the Organizer will not recognize those photos on your new drive as being in the catalog.
Use File...Reconnect...All Missing Files.  You can pause the reconnection process by hitting the "Browse" button and pointing the reconnection to the location on your new drive.
