Pictures in iPhoto Missing

I had my MacBook Pro reset, before I had it reset I saved all of my pictures to my iPhoto and deleted the pictures off of my iPhone. When I got my computer back all of the pictures that were on my computer were gone. How do I get them back?

When I searched for the Library I found
that all the pictures in it were grayed out and
cannot be accessed.
A big jump here... I assume you "searched" using the "Find Library" dialog, navigated in the dialog to the folder named "iPhoto Library" (unless you've moved and/or renamed it) in your Pictures folder, selected it, then iPhoto opened without any warning dialogs, all before you saw that all pictures were "grayed out".
Do any thumbnails appear? Does the albums pane show the albums you had previously assembled? Has anything "unusual" happened with your system between when iPhoto last functioned normally, and now?

I am using Lightroom on my MAC where I import the finalized JPEG-pictures into iPhoto to create a slideshow (for instance in combination with films). When exporting the slideshow with a 1080p resolution to iTunes I experience difficulties (missing slides and black transitions). When using JPEG-pictures directly from the camera there are no problems, so the manipulation in Lightroom seem to cause corrupt files. Does anyone recognize tje problem and could it have anything to do with the introduction of the Yosemite software? Is Lightroom already Yosemite-proof?

In iPhoto 11 the Originals folder is renamed Masters.

  • I'm trying to upload pictures from iphoto to stores such as walmart or costco for prints. the images won't upload to these sites. i'm new to mac so i know i'm missing a step somewhere.

i'm not able to upload pictures from iphoto to stores such as walmart or costco to order prints. the images just won't load. does anyone know what i'm doing wrong??

Well, since there is no function to export from iPhoto to these sites directly, here is a simple way how you can try it:
    - create a folder on your desktop
    - name it like "WalMart pics"
    - open iPhoto
    - resize it so you can still see the folder you just created
    - select the pictures you want to send to the store in iPhoto and drag them onto the new folder
The folder now contains the pics you selected. Now go to the stores' websites and upload the pictures from that folder.
You might also use the "Share" option in iPhoto to get the photos into a folder, but I like the direct drag and drop better.

  • How can I set up my Apple TV and iPhoto on my iMac so Apple TV can display pictures from iPhoto as a normal slideshow or as a Screen Saver?

I have an iMac and an Apple TV that is connected to the main iTunes library on the iMac.  My Apple TV is able to find all the music, videos and pictures that are on the iMac's internal hard drive - presumably via iTunes (music and videos) and directly accessing the Pictures folder.  So far, so good!
Recently, I have had to move a lot of my pictures to an external hard drive - and I had hoped that by 'importing' them into iPhoto (without physically duplicating them on the internal drive), I can still have my Apple TV "find" these pictures via iPhoto - and allow me to browse them as before or use them in my screen-saver.
However, while I can see them in iPhoto, my Apple TV seems to be unable to find them - and I am unable to see them on my TV.
So, is this even supported by Apple TV/ iPhoto?  Is there some configuration I am missing?  Or do I just need to boot up everything from scratch?  Any help would be appreciated!
    Thank you.

Thanks - I did not realize that Homesharing can be specifically set to a photo destination like that!
So, it would appear that I can either point it to iPhoto (and folders/ events within that) OR the default Pictures folder and subfolders of that OR any other specific folder (and subfolders of that) of my choice.  However, I cannot select BOTH the default Pictures folder (and some subfolder of that) AND a folder in iPhoto AND/ OR an event/ folder in iPhoto.  Is that a correct assumption?
If so, the only way I see getting homesharing to get both set of pictures is to get all my picture folders (internal and external drive based) into iPhoto (without physically duplicating them) - and then pointing Homesharing to iPhoto, right?
I think you have solved my issue - but I just want to be sure of that.
    Thanks a ton!

  • ALL pictures in iPhoto *and* PhotoBooth are gone :(  please help

    Hello,
I have a bit of a dilema here. On 6-27-07 (actually 6-28 cause it was after midnight), my daughter and I were taking pictures in photobooth. I selected the iPhoto icon from the PhotoBooth picture to send a copy of those pictures to iPhoto.
PhotoBooth froze up after doing several of them and wouldn't work. I am trying to remember from memory (which is swiss cheese from the MS), but I think I had to do a hard shut down. When I tried to go to iPhoto, it acted like it was my 1st time using it and it began asking me questions as if I was setting it up for the 1st time. ALL pictures are GONE. Everything in iPhoto and PhotoBooth are GONE I don't know what I did or how (if I can) to fix it.
Can anyone possibly help me? Lots of precious memories gone. I was recently going to read how to do a back-up right before this happened. Now I wish I hadn't gone to sleep that night until I learned how to do it and actually did make a back-up
My husband called Apple and they told him to do something and now that has created approximately 3 copies of random pics and not all of them, or I would just delete the extras. My husband may have done something wrong to have it make extra copies of the pictures it has now, I don't know.
My husband didn't seem like he was happy with the help that he was getting at the time. So, I found my way here again!!! I have been to the discussions boards once before, but I forgot how to get here (serious swiss cheese memory from MS). I have to save ALL websites that I like to my favorites or I should say 'Bookmarks' or I will probably never find it again. <embarassed>
**I will tell you a little about me and the use of my mac....... I have Multiple Sclerosis so my husband purchased the lap top to make it easier for me to get online and not be stuck to one chair which makes me hurt bad. I am new to Mac and have always used a PC.
Anyway, when we purchased it we explained that I would mainly be using it for Internet use and for the pictures that I take (I am disabled, so that is about all I can do but I thoroughly enjoy it), which happens to be more than the average person since I have a new Grandson
Any help that anyone can give me, I would TRULY APPRECIATE!!!!!!
    Thanks,
    New2Him

    Brenda,
    You're quite welcome.
That does sound like your original library. It makes sense to me; your husband was probably told to drag it to the Desktop by the Apple help desk person. Look inside your Pictures folder for the other two iPhoto Library folders. If you don't find them there, do another Finder Search. Click once on a found item in the Search window to see its path at the bottom of that window. That should help you locate those folders.
After you find and rename or delete the other libraries, you will be ready to create a new library. (You might not want to delete those other folders yet - in case some photos are missing from your main library. But if you are sure that nothing in them is original, go ahead and Trash them to free up the space.)
To create a new library, Option-launch iPhoto and click "Create Library." By default it will be located in your Pictures folder and named "iPhoto Library." You can change the name if you want - say, "iPhoto Library New" before you click "Save." A new, empty library will open. Drag the right corner of the window up so that it fills only about half of your screen. Do iPhoto > Preferences > Advanced and make sure that there IS a check in the boxes beside "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when importing to library" and "Add ColorSync Profile".
On the other half of your screen, open a Finder window. Set it to column view and navigate this path: Desktop/ iPhoto Library/ Originals/ 2007/ (Film Roll folders). It is these Film Roll folders that contain your photos. Select all of the Roll folders and drag them as a group over the iPhoto window until the cursor shows you a green plus symbol. Drop them in the main viewing area of the iPhoto window. iPhoto will indicate to you that it is importing. A film roll will be created for each folder that you dragged. [Tip: if you want an Album to represent each film roll, then drag them to the Source Pane (left column) instead of the main viewing window. This will create an Album and a film roll, both with the same name as the imported folder.]
I have read that the film roll date can be wrong after importing, so you may want to check the dates as you go. Open the Info Pane in the lower left corner of the iPhoto window (click the little i). When you select a Roll, its info will display in the Info Pane. You can edit the Roll's title and date, if you wish.
When the 2007 rolls have all been imported, switch to the Originals/ 2006 folder, select the roll folders, and drag to your iPhoto window. Repeat for each year in your Desktop library.
This will recover your Original, unedited photos in the same film rolls as before. What cannot be saved is your Albums, Slideshows, Books, titles, keywords, ratings, and other metadata. These were contained in the database file that was damaged during the iPhoto hang or subsequent hard shut down.
If you had spent significant time editing your photos, then you may want to have a look in Desktop/ iPhoto Library/ Modified to see if you wish to save any of the edited versions. There is no way to reconnect the edits with their Originals; that info was also stored in the database file. But if you want to import them to your library you may. Be aware that this will cause the appearance of duplication, much like you had in the library your husband created. If you can part with your edited versions, then it is much easier to discard them. (If not, be selective.)
I'll look forward to hearing your progress. Regards,
    Shelly

  • IPhoto missing photos

When I open iPhoto I have a lot of pictures that are missing, deleted by accident.  Now when in iPhoto, i receive the following message, "The volume for “Christmas 2005-12.JPG” cannot be found."  I can cancel but the next photo comes up missing and I cannot opt out of this message.  How can I remove this message from reoccuring?

    You can't.
If this is the case you have
    1. A Referenced Library
    2. The files are stored on a different volume than the Library
and now that you have deleted the files via the Finder you have corrupted the LIbrary.
No back up? If not then you're starting over.

  • HT4927 all my pictures in iPhoto got deleted and i don't know how to get them back so could anyone help me with that ??

all my pictures in iPhoto got deleted and i don't know how to get them back so could anyone help me with that ??

We do need more information to help. Are the images gone from your iPhoto library, or is the iPhoto Library missing? How and when did this happen?
If images are missing from the library: Did you check for hidden photos? Did you check the iPhoto Trash?
If the pictures are still in the iPhoto Trash, open the Trash, select the images and and press the liitle arrow in the lower right corner - select "Put back".
If the pictures are still in an "iPhoto" folder in the system Trash (with sub folders named by date), import these folders to your iPhoto library.
Have you checked, if you have opened the correct iPhoto Library? Launch iPhoto with the options key held down, to select another Library.
If the entire Library is missing, have you searched for ".photolibrary" with spotlight?
    Do have a backup?
If none of these easy measures helps, report back with more details - your iPhoto version, and anything else that might be helpful to find out, what the problem is. Don't do anything that changes the contents of your hard drive for now.

  • I cannot pull up pictures from iphoto. I see them but when I click on them, I get an exclamation mark inside a triangle

I cannot open pictures from iphoto.  I see them but when I click on them, I get this exclamation point inside a triangle

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • How do I change the way I get my pictures with iPhoto?

    Hi everyone,
Currently i plug in my Canon Powershot SD550 camera and iPhoto opens, i can download the pictures into iPhoto directly from there. i assume it was a setting I made when i first got the new computer and I dont know how to turn it off.
However, I want to plug the camera in and move the photos from the camera to a folder on my desktop so I can name them and so on.
I will import them to iPhoto from the folder afterward.
thanks for any help you can provide

iPhoto menu ==> General ==> Connecting Camera opens ==> no application
Then you can go to the finder and copy the images to a folder and prepare them for importing into iPhoto

  • How do I transfer a multiple number of my edited pictures from iPhoto on my iPad to iPhoto on my mac?

I have been working on my ipad with iphoto. First I transferred the pictures from my SD card with connection kit and then I started to edit a lot of them. Now i need to transfer them back to my mac. I would like to continue manage them in Iphoto on the mac but I can not find the option. When I import the pictures via Iphoto or aperture the pictures transfers without the changes I made on the Ipad. I've also tried the command "Send to Itunes" but nothing happens. Do I really need to convert every edited picture to the camera roll ONE BY ONE and then sync the normal way? And I need them with no loss of quality because I want to print a book later. Please help.

There is no link between iPhoto (or Aperture) on your Mac and the app on iOS. So you'll need to export from the iOS app and then import to your preferred app on the Mac. For details on that:

  • When I listen to music on Apple TV 2 my pictures from iPhoto come in, but always the same album (which I nevr asked for), always in random order and always in a different format. How can I control what is going on and choose the album myself.

When I listen to music on Apple TV 2 my pictures from iPhoto come in aafter about ten minutes, but always the same album (which I never asked for), always in random order and always in a different format. How can I choose a different album myself and control the order and format?

Thank you Winston for a helpful response and for reminding me of something which I found nearly a year ago and then lost (in my mind) because I did not use it. I am grateful for a correct answer but it still only achieves part of what I wanted.
I can now choose my photos, decide how long they stay on screen and choose one of a variety of presentations. Two things I still can't do.
One is to get it to play the photos in the chronological order in which I have carefully set them in an album; it still tends to be random and repetitive. The other is that I cannot get any of them them to saty on screen for more than about 20 seconds. I guess this is all due to the way Apple TV is constructed.
    But still thanks, nevertheless.

  • How do I move the pictures from iphoto to my desktop?

I just imported my pictures to iphoto but am trying to put them on a website.  How do i do that?

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
