Pictures look fine in iphoto, tiny when uploaded

I've tried uploading pictures from my iPhoto library to Facebook, and the pictures come out really small for some reason. It's not my camera, like I orginally thought, b/c it's doing the same thing with both my and my brother's camera. It's not facebook, b/c I've uploaded pictures not from my iPhoto library on it, and they look fine too. Any help would be appreciated!

Where are you getting your photos from? It sounds like you're using the thumbnails that iPhoto keeps to speed up display of images. What you need to do is select the photos you need within iPhoto and choose File->Export. Save the photos on your hard drive. Change the settings to reduce the size of the files as needed. Then upload those exported photos to Facebook. Once you've uploaded them, you can delete them if you want. The originals will still be in the iPhoto library.
If you're peeking into the iPhoto Library Folder with the Finder, you really need to know what you're doing because you can mess things up by moving or renaming files. If you want to access your original files, look inside the Originals folder or Modified folder. But don't move or rename them. Its best not to mess with the iPhoto Library Folder with the Finder at all to avoid making problems for yourself.

I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning were corrupted on youtube. I tried a different photo, and the corruption took place at the same moment of the video. How do I prepare the video for export to get it ready for youtube? I wasn't sure whether to clik web or web streaming. Am I supposed to clik Quick Time after I clik Share?

I unfortunately cannot remember where I got the 'trrndlines' plugin... I assume that it must have been from CFX (as it is located under /Users/Dom/Library/iMovie/Plug-ins/cfx/XXXtrrndlines.bundle).
As for what it does, I also do not know, as I do not think I ever used it in my previous video projects.
At this stage, I think I just need to uninstall it so that iMovie doesnt try to use it.
Do you know how to uninstall a CFX plugin in iMovie?
NOTE: I have re-installed iMovie 6.0.4 (instead of iMovie 6.0.3), but still encounter the same issue.

    Because something is wrong.
You will need to troubleshoot to find out what needs to be fixed.
One of these suggestions may resolve your trouble.
FaceTime (and other video) quality problems can be caused by problems at either end of the connection.  Unless your video callers' FaceTime connections work properly with everyone else but you, both parities to the video call should consider these possibilities.
    (1) Restart your iPad and test again. Sometimes a simple restart fixes things.
    (2) Use a fast broadband internet connection for best possible FaceTime video.
Broadband speed matters at BOTH ends, so you use something like http://speedtest.net/ to test both ends of your video connections.
Speeds less than 300 Kbps (up and down) at both ends are unlikely to give best results.
    (3) Try from a different wi-fi connection.
If the problem is ONLY at your current location, restarting your internet connection may help.  Shut down your iPad or turn Airplane Mode "on".  Then check your cable connections, restart your modem and wireless access point, reconnect iPad to the wi-fi, and test again.
If the problem remains but ONLY at your current location, there may be a problem with your internet service.  Contact your ISP for help.
    (4) Always use as much light as possible for best images (including video) from your iPad.

  • I have created a slide show with pictures and music in Iphoto and when I try export it I get Error You do not have sufficient permission for this operation.

I have created a slide show with pictures and music in Iphoto and when I try export it I get Error You do not have sufficient permission for this operation.  Try to export to an external HD attached, all help would be gratefully received

Have you ever successfully saved anything to that external drive? My first two thoughts are that the drive isn't formatted for the Mac or that you don't have rights to save to the drive.

  • IPhoto crashes when uploading to Flickr

    Hello,
Recently, I purchased a Flickr Pro account to backup all of my pictures (30,000+).  All of my pictures are currently in iPhoto 11 (9.4.1) and I'm using the built in Flickr upload option.  I've been able to upload most of the pictures, but with some frustration.  Every so often when uploading photos to Flickr, iPhoto crashes.  I've tried all sorts of things: (1) Limiting event sizes to well below 500 -- the max per set on Flickr; (2) Trying to upload only pictures in events (no video as it seemed iPhoto tended to crash when video was involved; (3) Looked on numerous forums for answers, but I couldnt' find anything that was an exact match to my issue; (4) Uploading only one Event at a time; (5) Uploading multiple events at a time.  iPhoto still crashed during all of these options
So, long story short, does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try?  Have you had similar issues?  Thanks in advance.

and I'm using the built in Flickr upload option.
This may not be the right thing to do.
This syncs with Flickr, and if you remove photos from iPhoto (or if they get trashed in a HD crash or something) then the photos will be removed from Flickr next time you log in and sync.
Best to use a direct uploader like http://connectedflow.com/flickrexport/
    As to the crashes:
Post the first 50 lines only of the crash report

  • When printing a simple single photo, my picture looks fine until I press the print button, then the view of what it is going to print looks like it has zoomed in and cuts off part of my original picture.  This does this with every picture I try to print.

When I press print, it looks like it crops or zooms my original pictures and cuts it off, on the print view. Therefore it only prints a zoomed in partial picture?  Anyone else have this problem?

This usually occurs because you're printing a photo in an Aspect Ratio different from the actual shot. The Aspect Ratio is the shape of the photo, expressed as the length x breadth.
So, if you have - for instance - a 4:3 shot and try print that at  4:6 you will have issues.

  • How come I can't see my iPhoto library when uploading?

When I want to upload a photo to the internet, craigslist.org for instance. I click upload to browse for photo then go to my photos but the iPhoto library icon is grayed out. I know how to get around it by dragging the selected photos to my desktop then uploading those. It takes forever to open iphoto so i rarely open it, but all my pictures are in there and there is no other way to get to them other than opening them. Is there an easier way? Why?
    Thanks

With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto. With 10.5 you can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.*
*Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS*
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
I've highlighted the one's that may be of most use to you.

  • After IOS 8 update, all the Deleted Pictures can be seen in instagram when uploading.

I recently updated my Iphone 5S to the latest update of IOS 8. After the update , when i am uploading a picture in instagram, I can see that all the photos including the ones which i have deleted earlier can be seen in it, but it is not shown in the photos folder of the phone.
What could be the problem? Can some one help me out in fixing this issue?
Your earliest reply would be much appreciated.

I am experiencing tons of duplicates in my "Recently Added" within Instagram, too. It's not happening with ALL photos, but all my most recent (few weeks or so). Have you gotten any feedback or advice on this? I submitted a bug report to Instagram. It doesn't happen in any other apps (Twitter, for example) or in the phone's camera roll itself. JUST in Instagram.

  • Iphoto crashes when uploading a fotobook or creating a PDF

    Hello everybody,
I have a question and problem with my Iphoto 11 (Version 9.1.3, the latest) with SnowLeopard on a MacBookPro (OS X 10.6.7.):
I created a Photobook an wanted to place an order for Apple to produce the book. When the book starts to upload the book, it crashes after 2 Sites. It also crashes when producing a PDF from my book (68 pages) but also with a new empty book with the smallest size. Does anybody have the same problem oder does someone know a solution? Up to now I am very sad that I cannot use Iphoto anymore...
    Thank you!!

Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Iphoto crash when uploading to Facebook

    Hi all and HNY.
My problem is trying to upload photos and albums to Facebook from iPhoto.  We have 2 Facebook accounts, my wife and me.  My account is fine and I can upload photos easily but every time we try with her Facebook account iPhoto starts and then crashes.
We have a late 2009 iMac 21½" running Yosemite and all the latest versions of apps including iPhoto, we have also just upgraded to 12GB of RAM from 4GB.
The next and last resort I feel is just to remove her Facebook account from iPhoto and then add it back again hoping this might clear the problem.  I don't know if its a Facebook issue or iPhoto problem right now.
Also concerned about removing a Facebook account from iPhoto as we don't want to lose any Facebook albums, don't think that will happen anyway.  What you do see before deleting the account from iPhoto is an option about importing all Facebook albums to iPhoto but as they would have all come from iPhoto in the first place then I don't see the need to do this.
Hoping somebody else has had the same problem and can share some views / thoughts.
    Thanks

    Desperate for some help, anyone?

  • Iphoto quits when uploading to Shutterfly

Unable to upload from iPhoto to Shutterfly for approx 2 weeks.  Went to store & saw an apple genius.  He said it is a problem between Shutterfly and Apple.  I have to wait until it is corrected.  Is anyone else having this problem?

Wild guess: the Shutterfly plug-in hasn't been updated for iPhoto 11. Check back with them and see if they have an up-to-date version.

  • Apple TV 2nd gen, the picture is oversized as if the TV is in zoom mode. The Tv picture is fine, it only happens when the apple TV is on. Any suggestions on how to work this out?

The picture on my Apple TV display is oversized as in zoom mode. Not a TV setup problem, does anybody know how to correct this? I have tried resetting several times already.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are TV settings that can cause this, unfortunately I forget what they are, take a look in your TV manual as they may be called different things from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Additionally, check and confirm your TV supports 720p, some HDTV's don't. Finally, you are connected by HDMI I assume.

  • Iphoto won't upload pictures from iphone anymore

Hi there, whilst I was uploading my photos from my iphone to iphoto, my macbook battery died (eventhough it said 35 mins left-but that's a different story!) when i reconnected everything iphoto won't let me upload - it keeps saying 'iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image.' No pictures are actually in iphoto from the upload when the battery died so I don't know why it keeps saying this. I tried using Image capture but this didn't work either...Can someone help please?

I updated my phone to iOS 7.1.1 since writing my post, and that seemed to fix the problem. Thank you!

  • DVD picture looks awful

Not sure exactly where to address this. I shot some footage on my Canon 7D, edited in FCP (no effects or filters applied) and then burned a DVD. The picture looks terrible.
the h264 footage was converted in FCP into ProRes422. Frame rate was 59.94. My FCP export looks fine, but when I burn it in DVD Studio and play it on my DVD player, there are blotches everywhere and does not look clear at all. Very noticeable during pause.

    bubsy wrote:
Thank I'll give that a try when I get home tonight. Quick note, I played the same DVD on an SD television set and the picture looked fine, decent anyway. But on my HD TV it looked terrible.
Are you using the same playback deck? All players use different upscale algorithms and some are really awful. Then there is the setting on the TV which may have its own upscaling routine. Your DSLR footage was 720 or 1080 but your DVD is a very lossy and lousy MPEG2 that, at best, can only deliver 480 horizontal lines of severely compressed video. You are throwing away 75'% of your pixels.
Scaling that tiny number of MPEG2 pixels back up to fill a 1080 HD display means every pixel is blown up about 4 times. Every compression artifact is also four times as visible, four times as ugly.

  • PDF file looks fine but prints fuzzy

Hi, I am making music books for a publishing company and we are having an issue with some PDF's. To let you know what we are dealing with I will provide you with some critical info.
I recieve 600 DPI scans as PDF's of books with music in them from our production crew. I take these files and I have to edit the layout of music on the last page so that there is room for our barcode. I insert the barcode and resave the file as a flattened 600 DPI PDF again. Then in Acrobat, I replace the old page, with the new page containing the barcode. The new page looks fine on screen, but when printed out it looks very fuzzy.
I have noticed that this also happens to our barcodes when importing pictures into Quark. I have tried saving the barcodes out as TIFF's and as GIF's (they are high contrast black and white, so GIF's have good quality and very low file size)at 600 DPI. Then we export PDF's from Quark and get the same problem with the fuzzyness.
Does photoshop have some settings for PDF's that will fix this? I am not even sure why it is doing this in the first place. I appologize for the long explanation but would rather have it be clear the first time. Any help you guys can give me would be great!
    -JP

Okay thanks for the input, but when i try to import with images, instead of pages, it says there was a program error and it fails to import. Unfortunately I have to do these in photosjop first, because like I said in the first message, i have to edit the music on the page so that the barcode will fit.
The page is FULL of music, and we cannot simply shrink because that makes it harder for people to read the smaller notes. So I have to move the measures closer together, and sometimes I have to cut out extra space in the measures. If I were to do this in quark I would need to set up several different image boxes and then make sure they would line up properly. It is not very time effecient because I do dozens of these each day.
I have been playing around with the downsampling options and I am getting better results with that. I will post any progress I happen to find.
