Pictures not displayed in Fullscreen!?

Hi!
After one year of use and no problem with my iPhoto library (15000pics), something strange has suddenly happen. Everything seems fine, (places, faces keywords etc) BUT when trying to view pictures in fullscreen mode, its just a black/blank screen menues is working properly and you can "change" picture although its still black. In one try of hundred, the picture is displayed properly...
...what can have happend? Is there any way to correct without loosing my faces-data?
And another question:
Is there any way to write keywords, places and faces to the pictures own metadata?
//Martin Stegmark, Sweden

First question:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Second Question:
Is there any way to write keywords, places and faces to the pictures own metadata?
You do this on export from iPhoto - File -> Export, and set the Kind: to Jpeg. Then check the boxes at 'Titles and Keywords" and 'Places Info'.
Note: there is no way to write Faces metadata to a file. Neither the Exif or IPTC metadata standards recognise this data.

  • Pictures not displaying in non-thumbnail sizes

One of my clients has an iMac G5 running 10.4.11 and iPhoto 5.0.4. He's got about 3200 pictures in his iPhoto library which is about 12GB in size (they are all very large pictures). He's been using iPhoto without problem for years then suddenly he noticed that some pictures do not display in a slideshow. Out of the 3200 pictures he's narrowed it down so far to a few dozen pictures throughout his library. When we view the roll or the album with the pictures listed as thumbnails, we can see the picture just fine, but when we do anything that involves viewing at non-thumbnail size, such as double clicking on it or viewing in a slideshow it displays nothing. Slideshow just shows all black and double clicking on the thumb shows white with a spinning gear that never stops spinning. I rebuilt his library and that did not fix it. I repaired permissions, trashed iPhoto preferences, deleted tmp & cache files from his computer, I even zapped the PRAM out of desperation and nothing made any difference at all. One weird thing is that when it is siting at the white screen with spinning gear, if we resize the window smaller then resize it bigger, the picture will display properly but only for that time. It still will not display in slideshows.
I tried exporting one of the troublesome pictures out of iPhoto to his desktop, delete the pic from iPhoto, then try re-importing it again. This time when we try to import it, iPhoto gives an error that the file couldn't be imported because it may be an unrecognized file type or may not contain valid data. I can open the pic on his desktop using Preview and Photoshop with no problems at all.
Why am I posting this in the iPhoto '08 forum? well I copied the file to my MacBook Pro running 10.5.6 and iPhoto '08 and it almost does the same thing. I am able to import the file into iPhoto '08 and I can see the thumbnail but when I double click it, instead of a white screen with the spinning gear, i get a black screen and nothing else. I tried the trick of resizing the window and as I'm resizing, I do see a blocky image but as soon as I stop resizing the image goes black.
I can open the file in any program on multiple computers: Photoshop, Preview, GraphicConverter, ColorSync Util, Safari, Firefox, etc. iPhoto version 5 and '08 (the only versions I have handy) refuse to work with the file. I've even edited the picture in photoshop by changing the resolution by just a few pixels and slightly tighter jpg compression but iPhoto still refuses to play nice with it.
I have exhausted all options other than reinstalling the OS, but other posts I've read similar to this say that never fixes it. I am at a loss. What is wrong with iPhoto that it refuses to play nicely with pictures that work everywhere else in the world?
I forgot to add that in Console there are several instances of iPhoto errors:
"have info and image but no ciimage" and “have info and image but no ref”

    Clint:
Try opening the file in one of the other applications that can use it and save as a new file and see if that new file is compatible with iPhoto. Or you might try this Automator workflow, Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB profile, on one and see if the resulting file will work. If so you can batch change all of them. It replaces the file you run it on so be sure to run it on a copy just to be safe. You can download it from Toad's Cellar or download it immediately with this link: Convert to JPG and Embed sRGB profile.zip.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Group conversation pictures not displaying on new ...

I don't know if there's an option I'm not seeing but since I updated to the new skype preview, I cannot see group conversation pictures for any of the skype groups I'm in.
Clicking on the conversation topic loads up the profile for the group, and I can change the picture in there, but it will not display for me (even in the profile window I get the default 'no picture' picture).

Can we please have the conversation picture visible to all participats of group conversations back?
And while you're at it, can we have (fubar) and (finger) and (hollest) back too?
One more thing - can we please have back the ability to adjust the size of the typing box?  There is only one little line there now and one would like to be able to see at least 4 or 5 lines of the message you are typing.
When you update, the update should improve, not remove.
Thank you very much for this great app.

  • Slide Pictures not displaying in Presenter- only text

Hi. I have just published my first powerpoint 2007 presentation using Presenter. The pictures on the slides are not displaying in the main window. They are only visible in the thumbnails. Any suggestions for fixes gratefully recieved.

    Hi Nirupam,
    I am running Presenter 7.0.1
All the pictures are either PNG or JPEG
    All the pictures are affected
The only way I could get the pictures to work was to resave all 147 pictures through powerpoint to my computer. A Colleague of mine made the presentation on their computer but they did not have presenter so they brought the presentation to my computer.
Was there a quicker way to embed the pictures?
Also how do I reduce the file size from 52MB to 20MB in the final PDF?
    Thanks

  • Blog pictures not displaying

For some reason, my blog pictures are not displaying. How can I get my pictures to display next to each entry on my Jazz interviews page? Right now, the only entry that has a picture is Guillermo Nojechowicz. You will notice that his pictures does not show up next to his entry on my Jazz Interviews page but does show up when you click on Read More...

Did you delete the placeholder frame on the blog entry page? If you inadvertently did so, and even if you place another picture on the blog entry page, that picture will not appear on the main blog page.
For the picture to appear on the main blog page, you need to place the picture directly into the placeholder frame on the blog entry page, eg, via drag and drop.
To fix the problem, you will need to make a new blog entry, and copy and paste the text, and drag the picture for the blog entry directly into the placeholder frame. To fix the date of the new entry, enter the date in long format, and it will be resorted correctly in the blog entry list.

  • Pictures Not Displaying When Aperture Is Opened.

I recently installed the latest update for Aperture which was supposed to help with RAW format pictures. Last night when I opened Aperture to find a picture, none of my pictures would display. The libraries that came with Aperture would display but nothing from my library would come up.
Any suggestions on solving this problem. The library does not seem to be corrupted because I can access it through iPhoto.
    Thanks,
    Veryl

I guess I wasn't clear with my question.
I am using Aperture 2.1.2. What I installed was the update fix to make Aperture more compatible with some RAW formats. It was one of the regular Apple software updates that they send out periodically.
Up until now, I have opened Aperture and it has shown the photos in my library in the browser and viewer. Now when I open it, that whole area is grey and there are no pictures. From past sad experience, I always leave data for a program in the default location. Nothing has changed except the installation of the RAW update.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
    Thanks,
    Veryl

  • Some pictures not displayed when being online

    Hello,
I would like to ask for advice, if someone has experience with following: When I am online (either on facebook, or any other webpage, some of the pictures there are not displayed) - neither on Safari nor on Google Chrome. I have tried to clear all browsing data including cookies, plug in data, cached images,..... as I believed it might help. I also checked my proxy settings, but I do not have any of them currently in use. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

    Hey there!
Have you by chance asked your friends if they are appearing offline on Skype?  If not, make sure that they are appearing online. Also, is it just certain friends that are appearing offline or ALL of your contacts?
    Cheers!

  • Pictures not displaying right

I recently downloaded the program, as I wanted to try it out since I have an older version. When opening up pictures it comes up with multiple lines all over the picture, not allowing me to see it clearly. Anyone know how to fix this?

haha....I got it figured out actually before anyone responded. Thanks though! Now if I could just figure out why the text I am typing is not showing up on the pictures!
Don't forget the video drivers too!
Regarding the text, make sure it is not the same colour as the background. If that's not the cause, reset the Type tool from the drop-down menu in the top-right of the Character Panel.
The non-appearance of the text may be due to one or more of a number of reasons and this should fix most of them. Does a text layer appear correctly in the Layers panel?

  • Chatroom Pictures Not Displaying on Safari

Hi there. I am hoping that someone will be able to assist me. I am having difficulty when I am in a chatroom and there are associated profiles that have pictures. For some reason, the pictures take forever to display which is nerve racking and it takes forever to connect with the typing as well. I am not sure what is the issue. I am thinking it could be compatibility issues with Java or PopUps, etc... Can someone shed some light on this issue.
    With much thanks!

My goof.  In the Safari preferences area I turned on Developer mode out of curiosity and then by accident turned off pictures.  All is well now.

  • In line pictures not displaying properly

I use Lotus Notes mail and pictures (usually of text or tables) that were embedded in the note that display well on my PC didn't display well on my Blackberry.  I was hoping that this would be fixed on the Playbook, but while better it is not quite right.  I believe that the reason is that the Blackberry and the Playbook show the pictures at a scaled resolution that is less than the original and that that causes the pictures to be blurry and unreadable.   I suspect if I could pinch zoom the pictures I could probably find the resolution that works... but I can't.
    Any suggestions?

The offending PDF files were created using word
Yes. Word 2007. (You can see it in Preview if you do ⌘I or choose Tools > Show Inspector.) And it's the transparency issue. The three pics attached show the Jan 2012 newsletter (a) in Preview, (b) in Acrobat Pro, (c) again in Preview, after I saved it in Acrobat, flattening the transparency.
For you, the solution is to use Adobe Reader -- with due note taken of
    <http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb12-01.html>
For them, I don't know. Presumably, they wish max compatibility for their newsletter, but I really don't know how Office 2007 generates PDF. Maybe they should check transparency settings and flatten before generating PDF? Or perhaps save as PDF v1.4 instead of PDF v1.5? I would use Distiller, but perhaps they can't afford it.

  • Contact pictures not displaying in Lync 2011 for Mac

Using Lync 2011 for Mac I'm not seeing any contact pictures (including my own), though I can see them when signed into Lync 2013 on a Windows PC (7, 8.1, and 10 Technical Preview for Enterprises).
My company uses O365 hosted Exchange and on premise Lync Server.
I'm using OSX 10.10.1 (on a 2014 Air) and Lync for Mac 2011 14.0.10 (141024). I have AutoUpdate set to automatically check weekly and I manually checked (button at the bottom of Microsoft AutoUpdate) so I believe I'm running the current release.
Logging in with another user account on my same Mac/Lync install has the same issue
Another user account on their own Mac also has the same issue
It's also worth noting that the same issue arises when signing into Lync for Android and iOS as well, but not on Windows (Lync 2013).
Any thoughts? Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Also, my apologies for putting this question in this subforum, but I didn't see any main forum for Office for Mac or Lync 2011 or Lync for Mac at all. If there is such here on technet, please drop the link here and I'll move the thread.

    Hi abacus02,
On mobile, you have no control over how photos are displayed. Lync Mobile can only display photos retrieved from Active Directory or SharePoint, it cannot display a photo from a URL. If a user
is displaying a photo from a URL and there is a photo in AD, it will display the photo from AD. If there is no photo in AD, it will display no photo at all.
About Lync for Mac, as I know Lync 2011 for Mac does not support high resolution images. Only in Lync 2013,
In Lync 2013, when the user’s photo experience has been migrated to Exchange 2013 and they are using Lync 2013, high resolution photos can be used.
So please tell us where the photos are stored, we need more information to troubleshoot the issue.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Small pictures not displaying

This is going to be hard to explain being that I have no knowledge about java and cannot attach a screen shot. I have a website that I am going to and there are small pictures that are not showing when I access the page. I spoke to someone that fixed this issue within my company and he said he configured java to encode internet case. Java was not installed on this machine prior to me working on it. I installed JRE 1.5 and this problem still persists. If it will help, the page I am unable to display is www.fldfs.com/data/aar_alis1 and the missing images are above "licensee search" and below the links at the top.
    Scott

The 'small images' you are having trouble with are actually an Applet, a small java program inserted into the web page.
This is a forum for people who write Java Servlets, mini server applications designed for generating html. The problem you are having has nothing to do with the topic of this forum.
Knowing nothing about your computer, its OS, your browser, there is nothing I can do to help you. Except pass you over to http://www.java.com/en/ where installation should be painless for windows users with IE. Other OS/browser combos may take some work. But the instructions should help you through it.
