Pictures not found-got new macbook

I got a new macbook and was using time machine to transfer everything over. I didn't transfer movies and pictures because I had enough pictures alone to fill up the entire new computer's harddrive (I am a photographer.) So now, in the finder, there is the picture and movies under places, but when I click on it, it just says the volume can't be found...this is a PROBLEM.
I edit my pictures in photoshop and there is now no way to get to my imported photos because there is no pictures folder anywhere....I know it's because I didn't import it from the old one, but there was no way I could because of space...What can I do?

Do you mean your only copies of those photos are on your TM drive?
If so, stop using TM immediately. Turn it off via TM Preferences.
TM will, eventually, delete it's copies of items that no longer exist on your internal HD. In fact, it may have done so already.
The backups for your old Mac won't be visible via +Enter Time Machine+ on your new Mac. To see them, you may need the (badly named) +Browse Other Time Machine Disks+ option. To use it, either hold down the Option key while selecting the TM icon in your Menubar, or control-click (right-click) the TM icon in your Dock. This option will take you into the TM interface in a way that you should see all backups on the disk you select.
You need to find somewhere else for the originals of your photos. Your best bet is probably another external drive. Restore your photos to it from TM, then figure out how to "point" Photoshop to them. This should be simple; there should be a setting in Photoshop, or you could probably make an alias on your internal HD.
TM will back-up that other drive along with your internal HD, unless you tell it not to.
And, if these are really important, you should consider also having some sort of off-site backup as well. External drives are great, but they may not protect you from fire, flood, theft, or direct lightning strike on your power lines. There are many ways to do this, such as a portable external drive, or even DVDs, but do something you can take to your safe deposit box, relative's house, workplace, etc.

LR 5 not working on new Macbook Pro.  Have tried 2 CC downloads, 5.6 licensed download and 5.5 licensed download, all result in the same thing.  It comes up with basic screen but no panels and gives an error occurred when changing modules.  Nothing I've tried seems to help.  It also has says "get started with lightroom mobile at top left although it says it is Lr 5.6.  Anybody else having problems?  Calls to adobe result in no help and have to wait till Monday for some technical support.  Surely this should run on a NEW laptop with no other software installed!!!

Install logs were fine.  Application installed but wouldn't run properly.  Finally got Adobe support and it turns out to be a file permissions error.  Had to add both applications and myself as accessors of Lightroom folder under path ~/Library/Adobe/  and set permissions to read & write (was read only for everything but system) and apply to all enclosed folders.   Runs fine now.  Including this here in case anyone else runs across this issue.

  • Adobe CS4 will not install on new macbook pro [was: pro]

Adobe CS4 will not install on new macbook pro. It is coming from my other macbook.

Install normally means running setup from the orginal discs or the downloadable trial version. If you are copying from a backup or another computer, that won't work.
Best advice is to download the CS4 trial, and have your serial number ready in order to convert the trial into a licensed version.
Get the trial here. Follow the instructions carefully or the download link won't work.

YOUTUBE NOT WORKING ON NEW MACBOOK PRO
Every time I want to see videos from youtube the video player just says "your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available".
Please help I have everything possible up to date.
    Thanks!

It appears as if only some videos on YouTube will play using HTML5 and without Flash. For example, this video plays just fine for me and I do not have flash installed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxEWddT44BY
So, unfortunately, you will have to install flash or wait for YouTube to fix their website.
Also, one thing to try: When I had Flash installed and the "ClickToPlugin" Safari extension installed, YouTube would load all the movies in a simple HTML5 format. So no annotations or any other annoying stuff. Might be worth trying. You will have to install flash but, with the "ClickToPlugin" extension, you don't have to use Flash.

You will need a Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) cable and an adaptor for the type of connection your monitor requires. You will find the adaptors at Apple's online website.

I cannot upload /ccm/picture to supplier catalog through CSV 2.0.
I'm pretty sure I have the CSV file format correctly, when I do the upload, I get an error: Value for catalog item XXXX (supplier part no.) of supplier XX is incorrect. Detailed error says: Characteristic /CCM/PICTURE not found.
There is a SAP note: 878316 that addresses this issue, for SAPK-26402INCCM, but we're pass that release.
I'm currently using the work-around of a custom picture characteristic, but I'd much rather use the pre-defined one if i can.

  • IMessage not working on new Macbook Pro.

iMessage not working on new Macbook Pro. Issue began after I downloaded latest version of Mountain Lion.  After every message it says delivered then immediately a red circle with exclamation point says message not delivered.  Any ideas?

I can also no longer text on my computer or iPad.  Fine on iPhone.  Same as you - I can see everything up until a specific day.  But I didn't do any kind of update where it should have stopped.  And it stopped working on my computer and iPad at the same time.

iWeb and iDVD are no longer supported by Apple nor included on new Macs.  To get a copy of iWeb 3 or iDVD 7 you will need to purchase the boxed version of iLife 11 or iLife 09 from Amazon.com: iLife 11 or eBay.com.

  • I'm unable to get my macbook pro to work with an Optoma tx542 projector.  I've got a VGA adaptor, and the projector works with my old iMac, just not with the new macbook.  Any ideas?

The projector recognizes it's a mac, since I see the mac desktop background on my screen when I connect, but I'm not seeing my desktop.  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

ugh...i'll be sure to let you know...i'm beginning to regret buyin a mac now...one usually spends the bucks most of have dropped for a premium machine, to actually work. I don't expect every aspect to be perfect, but simple things such as functionality of applications developed for and by the same company making the machines should work...maybe its just because i'm more than a little peeved that i'm going through such trouble to do something as simple as put two pictures next to each other and upload the site (as it appears in iweb) on to the mobileme...
I finally got it to upload, thanks Old Toad, and i got the pictures to upload...now they just don't appear next to each other as they do in iweb...i guess the good thing is that they are no longer covering text...
now i'm presented with a second problem...i add a second entry to my blog and when i click on that directly i'm taken to a page saying it is not found...but when i go to the first entry and click next it takes me to the second entry page...although that page is ALMOST correct (the links do not have the same styling i applied to them in iweb)...
and now i'm presented with a third problem...after adding the second entry i noticed on the blog listing page that my photo from the first entry did not move with it (another photo covering text problem)...so i tried using the graphic placeholder, but the image still does not show up on the main page...

  • IPod Classic 5th generation will not sync with new MacBook

I have had a 5th generation iPod classic that I have been super happy with.  I have used it with several PC laptops.  Because I have gone through so many PC's, I decdied this year to get a new MacBook Pro.  Since my old PC was dying it took forever to get all my music and videos transferred to my new MacBook. Anyhow, I have had no luck syncing my iPod with my new MacBook.  I have read several other posts (but mostly older like 2007-2010) that others have had similar problems.  Here is a quick list of what I have done/what has happened:
Initially, I would get one of two messages:
'The ipod '(My Name) ipod' cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-124)'
    - 'The ipod '(My Name) ipod' cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found.'
Two times it told me I needed to use a USB 2.0 port (but I have a new MacBook and was using the newer 3.0 port).  I haven't seen that message since.
It actually "transferred" over 4500 of my 7000 items (I have a ton of music that I use for my job) and then just stopped. When it was disconnected only about 200 songs were actually on my iPod.
    I've restored it several times.
Seems to "freeze" on random songs or videos and will not continue to sync, even theough the iPod says it's syncing.  Then iTunes freezes.  I have to "force quit." Sometimes (but not all the time) if I try to re-open iTunes, I get a message that says iTunes is locked.
I thought maybe my cable was bad (it was the original that came with the iPod).  I actually spent $20 and got a new one.  No luck.
With the new cord iTunes now gets frozen on the 3rd or 4th song it is trying to transfer. Once I disconnect the iPod (I have to disconnect with ejecting because iTunes is frozen and it also freezes up Finder to eject) my iPod makes an awful click sound and I have to start it by toggling and then holding the play/pause button.
I have tried enabling disk, manually controlling music, etc. but nothing helps.
I am sick about it because I rely on my iPod a lot for my job-- and I can't afford a new one since I just bought a MacBook.  I think it has something to do with the fact that I got this new MacBook.  My old PC was getting so sensitive that I didn't download the latest version of iTunes (but I still had the second latest version).
    Any help is appreciated.

Although you used the new USB 3.0 port, the actual connection speed is still USB2.0, as the iPod Dock connector, does not have the 10 times faster USB3.0 signal pins, the connection speed is still 480Mbits/s
I assumed that you have tried the other USB 2.0 port to no success..
Can you do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.
    Have a nice day!

  • ISight not working on new MacBook

Got my MacBook yesterday, started up and the iSight camera has not worked at all. The green light is lit, but when I use Photo Booth (or any other app using the camera), there is no image, only a solid color. I'm new to Mac's, so any advice is welcome!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, sithndman
Here are the solutions that help most users who encounter green-screen problems. None are complicated, but the only way to find which one will work for you is to continue down the list until you find the one that fixes your Mac.
    (1) Check your System Preferences as explained in this kbase article about Built-in iSight camera produces blue or green pictures.
    (2) If your System Preferences are set correctly, try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article.
Be sure to include the checks for whether the problem is "application-specific" and "user-specific".
If you need help creating a new user account to check whether your problem is "user-specific" during Troubleshooting, see this Help article.
    (3) If resetting or the other suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
    • Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    • Repair permissions. (Click here if you need help.)
    • Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (iNtel).
    • Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
    (4) A few iNtel Mac laptop users have also reported success after unplugging their Macs and leaving the battery out for half-an-hour to overnight.
    (5) If none of these suggestions help, contact Apple or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for a professional check.

  • Network card not found after new installation [SOLVED]

I broke my filesystem on my Asus UL80V series laptop in trying to solve problems related to the latest glibc update, so decided to do a clean re-install. I had an installation disk at hand: 2009.08 with kernel 2.6.30.4-1 (which is supposed to have the module for my ath9k network device). However after a successful installation (including all the files from base-dev), my network device is not recognised:
dhcpcd: eth0: interface not found or invalid
although network connectivity (wired and wireless) worked perfectly before the installation attempt.
This happened yesterday (17th) and I have been scouring the web since trying to find out what the cause of this problem is, without luck.
I also burned a new installation CD with the latest stable version, but no luck there, either! Got a message at the beginning informing me that the install requires 64 Mb memory, although my laptop has 4 Gb.
I should say, the device is there and working:
    lspci | grep Net
    gives
02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
    I also did
    modprobe ath9k
just to make sure. No luck.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    thanks

Argh, ip may not be around in the 2009 image really ;-) .. Use "ifconfig" instead..
    But: I meanwhile cross-checked your ath9k: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri … h9k_driver
and it does not sound encouraging for the kernel you have there.
The image is far too old anyway, if you ask me (would be a darn hazzle to get that uptodate I am sure). Pity you get that memory error with the 2011 one. Maybe check forums on that. Sounds very strange, I am not aware of any post I read.
If you can burn another CD, you can try the recent ISOs as well: http://releng.archlinux.org/isos/
Beware that the ones from July dont have the AIF setup anymore.
