Pictures not in camera roll

I recently updated to the iOs 5 on my ipod touch.  I like the new feature that allows you to quickly get to the camera without unlocking the ipod.  However the pictures and videos I took that way can't be found.  Where did they go?

Thank you and yes I am sure.  I did find them but I had to go thru photos and into my albums.  If I go into my camera and click on camera roll they are not there?  Is there a way to get them there?

How can I export pictures NOT on camera roll from my ipad to my iMac?

    Hello jcamengual,
I was having the same problem you're having - for those that don't understand... I synced photos on to my ipad which placed them inside "photos" not cameral roll. I then sold me laptop as I thought I had no need for it. When I bought my new iMac I tried to use my external hard drive which had my back up on, however my hard drive no longer works. Thus unable to retreive my photos on to my iMac!
Anyway... long of the short of it is theres no easy way. But there are a few ways. I'm currently using icloud's photo stream. As long as you have photo stream set up on your mac you can create a shared stream on the ipad with a friend. This shared stream will appear on your mac, you can then "import photos" straight from the shared stream.
Alternativley you could use something like drop box. Sync your pictures from iPad to drop box. Then download from drop box to Mac. As I said, no easy way that I have found but this does work. It just takes a long time.
    Key Facts:
You can have 5000 photos inside a sharred stream
You can have 100 sharred streams
Therefore you can stream 500,000 photos - I hope you don't have that many.

  • Transferring pictures not on camera roll to Macbook Pro-HELP!

    Hello everyone,
A year ago or so my harddrive on my Macbook Pro unmounted and I lost everything.  Well before that happened I had uploaded thousands of pictures to my Ipad 2 and so those are pictures not on the camera roll but in I guess a different kind of 'gallery'.  Also, I am not very computer savy so I apologize if this answer is simple.  But my problem is that I want to be able to take all of the pictures off of my Ipad 2 and get them back onto the Macbook but when I hook the sync cable up and Iphoto opens it only gives me the option to sync the camera roll gallery.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you everyone!
    Donovan

You cannot import synced photos back to the Mac. Only camera roll photos will import. There are third part WiFi transfer apps that will allow you to transfer photos from any album on the iPad back to the Mac. There are a number of these apps in the App Store. I use this one.

  • How do I delete pictures not in camera roll

How do I delete pictures previously synced to icloud, but no longer in my camera roll?
(I want to get a new phone and transfer only the pictures currently on my iphone 4S camera roll)
I'd like to avoid having to delete all pictures I've taken when information is transferred to my new phone.
I currently have the icloud settings turned off, however I have had icloud on in the past which has
many pictures I no longer want.
How do I login to icloud on my pc?

    Hi bckop,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You can import the pictures and video currently on your iPhone (camera roll) to your computer.  Then you can manually sync with iTunes to copy only the images you want to your iPhone.   If you don't want the images in your Photo Stream to appear on your iPhone and PC, you can turn Photostream off in your iCloud settings.  You can also delete images from your Photo Stream that you no longer want.
Here are a few articles to help you with this:

  • I have pictures on my phone that I can not delete.  There is no trashcan.  These pictures are in albums and not the camera roll itself.  How can I delete them?

My wife and I decided that we needed separate accounts for our two 4s phones.  To do this, the data from her phone needed to be transferred out, then transferred back in under the different account.  The pictures were transferred back in using Itunes.  These appear as separate albums in the "photos" app.  I would like to delete some (or all) the pictures in these extra albums, but there is no trashcan to put them in.  I can only delete pictures in the "camera roll" itself.  These pictures are taking up valuable memory and I would like to free up some space.  How can I delete them?

    You're welcome.
As it relates to pictures, iTunes will only do two things: it will transfer photos from your computer to your device (if you select to Sync Photos on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings); and it will include the camera roll photos on your device in your device backup (if you back up to your computer rather than to iCloud).  It does not transfer photos from your phone, only to your phone.  (Transferring photo from your phone to your computer is done by importing them as expained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.)
The only area where you might lose pictures by syncing would be if you synced your phone while selecting Sync Photos on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and the photos you had previously synced to your phone from your computer were no longer on your computer.  iTunes is syncing photos one-way; ensuring that the photos transferred from your computer match the photos still on your computer.  If you delete the photos from your computer, then sync, the deleted photos are then removed from your phone.
This does not effect photos in the camera roll or in your photo stream, it only effects photos in the Photo Library album and albums containing photos in the Photo Library album.
The deleted photos would have been placed in the recycle bin when you originally deleted them from the computer.  Nothing is put in the recycle bin when syncing with iTunes.

  • Took photos with iphone 4s. Pic displays in picture preview, but not in camera roll. Any advice? Pic should be on phone somewhere.

Took photo with iphone 4s. Picture displays in picture preview on bottom left, but is not in camera roll. Pic should be in phone somewhere since it's in preview. Any advice?

    Ok try this kennylebouef,
Open multitasking by double tapping the home button (at the bottom), a row of apps you've recently used should appear, tap and hold the photos app until it wiggles and displays an x, tap the x to close and then reopen the camera roll app. Let me know if it works. It's odd and frustrating, I know.

    There's Toast.

    $79.99
Final Cut Pro X will also burn DVDs.
    $299.99
How large is your movie?  Is it possible that you could output it as a QuickTime file and then burn that as a data DVD?  Is uploading to YouTube an option?

  • Pictures I've taken are visible on my iPhone but not my camera roll. has happened twice.

Pictures I've taken are visible on my iPhone but not my camera roll. This has happened twice. On a set of pictures taken 11/2/13 and today 11/5/13. Is there a solution for this. This is unacceptable. Now it's not showing any new pictures taken at all.

I'm with you. It doesn't make any sense to me either. However, when I view my pictures as a collection and select it - nothing is there. It is a clear picture.
The problem is that what you originally said, "Pictures I've taken are visible on my iPhone but not my camera roll" , has nothing to do with your actual problem.
Define "clear picture".  Do you mean blank image?  Are you saying there are no pictures to view, only blank screen where the picture should be?
If so, restore the iOS in iTunes:

  • HT1688 I have pictures on my camera roll that when I try to click on them the only thing I get is a white screen. I took about 10 pictures on the same day and in the middle of all the pictures it has about 5 that come up white when I try to click on them.

I recently took pictures at a family outing and all the pictures appear on my camera roll but when I click on about 5 of the pictures they all pull up as a white screen even though I can see the picture on the camera roll. How do I get these to pull up when clicked on ?  I have completely shut the phone off twice thinking this would reset pictures but it has not made a difference. What can I DO??

My sister's 5s is having the same issue since yesterday.
Neither resetting via holding home+power buttons helped, nor the "reset all settings" in the settings. The only option left is erasing the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone ( or restoring from a backup?)

  • I have just went to the Apple Retail Store and purchased an HDMI adapter that plugs into the bottom of my iPhone 4. When I asked the sales person if I could watch the videos and pictures from the camera roll I have taken on a T.V. he said I could.

I have tried to watch the videos and see the pictures from my iPhone's camera roll on a televison but it is not working. It is like nothing is connected to the T.V. set. I have tried with cables that attach to the bottom of the iPone. I have used an HDMI cable and a component cables on two seperate Televisions. How is it supposed to work.
I plugged the HDMI cable into the HDMI #4 jack into the T.V. and turned on the iPHone and watched the camera roll on the iPhone bu tnothing appears on the T.V. screen. What would have to be adjusted to view the pictures from the camera roll on the T.V. screen. The same thing happend when I used "Composite to iPhone" cables to a different T.V.  I even tried with and iPhone 3GS, still no display on the T.V. screen.

Warranty on iPhone is not international, but valid only in country of
original sale. Since you purchased the iPhone in Australia, your warranty
is valid only in Australia. You must either personally return the iPhone
to Australia for evaluation and possible replacement or sent it to someone
in Australia to take into Apple for the evaluation. Apple will not accept
international shipments for repair nor will Apple ship out of the country
    after replacement.
Sorry to be the bearer of this news, but it is the way iPhone warranty and
    replacement has always worked.

  • On iPad Air how do I post a pic to Facebook if the pic is not in camera roll?

The pic is in a collection synced w my iMac, so the pic is on the iPad Air but not in camera roll. How do I copy a pic to camera roll using only the iPad Air? Then post the pic on facebook?

  • How do I back up my photo stream album photos (not in camera roll) to USB?

Is their a way I can directly save my photo stream to my computer? I have deleted many pictures from my camera roll and wish to keep photos in their respective photostream albums as there are over a thousand!  The only way I can seem to do it is to save the pictures back to my camera roll and back up to USB as normal but that then duplicates any photos I haven't deleted in the camera roll?! Help!

How do I delete photos from my Photo Stream?
You can delete photos from your Photo Stream the same way you delete other photos from your device. Just select the photo you want to remove and tap or click Delete. When you delete a photo from Photo Stream on one device, iCloud will automatically delete it from the Photo Stream album or view on your other devices.
Note: Deleting individual photos from Photo Stream is supported by iOS 5.1 or later, iPhoto 9.2.2 or later, Aperture 3.2.3 or later, and Apple TV Software Update 5.0 or later. You will need to manually delete photos you downloaded to iOS devices running iOS 5.0.1 or earlier after updating to iOS 5.1.
The photos you want to keep, back them up on your comp or on another drive

  • Where are all the "DCIM" folders on iPhone?  Everything not in Camera Roll.

I just finished stripping down all the DCIM folders accessible from a PC via Windows Explorer.  I'm really looking for answers on the "how to", not "why it is" or "it just is that way" please.
The DCIM folders (mine [iPhone 5 w iOS 7.x] shows 5, naming convention is beyond me).  These consist of the following...
Total files equals the total number of pictures/videos in Camera Roll.
         - JPEGs (iPhone Created, iMSG Saved, or Moved (file xfr/emailed) to iPhone & Saved to Camera Roll),
         - PNGs (screenshots)
         - QuickTime Videos (iPhone Created & iMSG Saved to Camera Roll)
What is not accessible in the DCIM folder, but visible via Photos & Albums on the iPhone, are the following,
         - Instagram
         - Facebook
         - User created folders, mine came from iTools
         - Access to Albums created on the iPhone
                   * If I organized on the iPhone, why can't I access that organization via the DCIM folder?
What I know, if a file/image is in a user created folder, I cannot access it from Instagram.  An image must exist in Camera Roll for Instagram to be able to access it... aka I have to save the file to Camera Roll.
iCloud & iTunes, are not answers to the question, "How do I access all otherwise PC-considered "DCIM" folders?" when the only access allowed is "My iPhone --> Internal Storage --> DCIM --> '5 Folders housing all Camera Roll images/videos"
As you can read, this is not a question "What is Camera Roll?", I just defined what it is above.
    Thank you!

Maybe this will help you with a description of how iOS sorts photos. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4221.
As far as creating folders while in Camera Roll, the camera roll is not really designed to store photos on a long term basis, hense why if something happens to the iPhone, you lose your photos. It is designed for you to import the photos to the computer and do your organization there, and then sync the photos back to the device via iTunes. Then, should something happen to the iPhone, your photos are still safe on the computer. The ability to create folders and arrange photos through the Camera Roll is rather new. I'm not sure how it handles them, but earlier versions just put a "shortcut" so to speak in the folders you created, with the original file remaining in the Camera Roll. I'm not sure how that may have changed, but I am not sure how it handles these folders now. Seems you have discovered some of this by your comment on Instagram.
I do know that in Windows, and from what I have read it is the same on a Mac, you cannot use Explorer to put photos back into the Camera Roll. While you can read from the Camera Roll, you cannot write to it with the computer. Someone may be able to dispute that, but natively through Windows I can be sure that writing to the Camera Roll is not allowed.
Regarding your comment about the SD card, it is true, despite the fact the iPhone uses Flash memory, you cannot write to certain areas of the memory, and as I stated earlier, the Camera Roll is one of them. While it will save photos from the camera, and will also allow you to save photos from email, messages or other applications, it does not allow you to copy materials from the computer. This is the way Apple designed it.
I believe I read in your other post that someone suggested you use the feedback channel, but in case I was wrong, here it is. If you want Apple to see your comments, you need to post there, as they do not participate in the forum. The feedback link is www.apple.com/feedback and then click on the appropriate link.

  • Moving pictures from the camera roll.

I have various pictures on the camera roll that I want to move into albums. Some of the pics were taken using the iPad and others downloads from e.mail. I can't seem to find a way. Nik

    Nik,
You can create albums as long as you are running the latest iOS software 5.0 or above. Please note that by placing photos into albums you are not moving them but simply sorting them. They still remain in the camera-roll. Think of the camera-roll as your entire library of all your photos put together. Likewise if you delete a photo fgrom within an album it will not be deleted from the camera-roll only from the album. To delete a photo off your device you must delete it from inside the camera-roll.
To create albums open the Photos app and switch to album view. Tap the camera roll album select the photos you want and click the action button you'll be given the option to place the selected photos into a new or existing album. You can also create a blank album first and add photos to it later.
