Pictures not in iTunes Prefs with 10.4.3

Want to add pics to my 4G Nano, but the Pics Pref button doesn't show up in iTunes 6.0.1 using 10.4.3 on my G4 iMac.
Works fine on the G4 PowerBook running 10.3.9 with iTunes 6.0.1.
Have searched all the posts and knowledge docs and done everything I can think of, 5R's, re-install iTunes.
I'm beginning to think this is a bug in either 10.4.3 or the Nano firmware.
Any thoughts?

You don't update iTunes on your phone. You update iTunes on your computer. Click the iTunes tab above and then go to the Download area. Confirm that your computer will support the current version of iTunes, iTunes 11, and download and install it. Or, if you prefer, you can download the previous version, iTunes 10.7, here:

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Anybody NOT experiencing iTunes freeze with their Classic?

There have been a lot of threads on here about the inability, once initially synched, to actually use the iPod Classic in iTunes without it draining 100% CPU and causing cripplingly long freezes every ten seconds.
For me, that made the machine unusable, as the simplest tasks of updating podcasts, creating playlists, or adding songs were near-impossible without endless problems, so yesterday I called up Apple, and as they still claim there are 'no known problems' with the Classic, and none of their suggestions helped fix the problem, they are sending me a new Classic to replace what they consider a 'faulty' unit.
However, I have read so many tales from people getting a replacment Classic and still experiencing the same problems, that I was just wondering: is there anybody out there who has an iPod Classic filled up to over 50% capacity who is NOT experiencing freezing issues in iTunes?
It seems to me that we are all saying the same thing: our iPod Classics (80gb or 160gb), when filled over 50% (I have over 12,000 songs on mine, about ten podcasts, multiple playlists, about 22 TV shows) stop working with iTunes and crash the programme with minute-long pauses every couple of seconds that make it unusable.
So that I can have a little hope for the arrival of my replacement iPod on Monday; regardless of any other bugs they may be experiencing with their Classic, is there anybody out there who is NOT experiencing the iTunes bug and whose iPod Classic is flawlessly capable of connecting to their computer operating in iTunes as effeciently and swiftly as their previous generation iPods were?
    I'd love to know!

Hmmm...that does seem to be a good point; only one of those of you whose Classics are working fine in iTunes is using Windows, everyone else seems to be on OS X. I myself am using Windows XP Home Edition (SP2).
In one way perhaps this is a good thing, as it suggests a firmware/software problem rather than a fault with the hardware itself; but still...as I will still be using XP on Monday when my replacement comes, and have no plans (or finances) to buy a Mac in the near future; it doesn't bode well.
That said, one of you is using Windows XP with no problems (although it is the professional edition I think), so perhaps it's still not just a Windows compatability issue?
This has been really helpful so far so keep those answers coming. Hopefully on Monday I shall have some good news to report, but either way I shall let you know how it goes with the replacement.
I just hope Apple are listening and getting to work on an upgrade to sort all this out and clear up the confusion.

  • I recently lost my Ipod touch. I am wondering if the person who found it connects it to their computer, will my pictures, notes, and Itunes music get deleted (I hope)?

I got my Ipod touch 8 GB, 2 years ago as a gift.
Since then I have used the camera feature to take pictures, and used the Notes feature.
I am wondering what happens to these when the new user (I lost it) wil plug it into their computer?
    Thank you for your time

If you had a screen-lock passcode then they will have to either guess the passcode or have to erase the iPod to use the iPod.
With no passcoe then they read your mail and do other things unless you change your passwords.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
    - Apple will do nothing

  • Deleting songs from hard driive not in iTunes library with iTunes 10

I have multiple user profiles on my computer so in order to prevent loss of hard drive space from duplicate songs we keep all our music in 1 folder and tell itunes not to copy songs when importing. The problem I have now is that any time a song has to be deleted within itunes I'm not asked if I want to move that actual song to the trash. I understand that's because it's not actually in the itunes media folder but I was hoping if someone knew of a way that itunes can actually manage the music files even though they're not in the media folder? I guess you can say I'm being lazy but I hate going out of itunes, locating the file, dragging it to the trash, and then emptying the trash (what man likes taking the garbage out?). I would love it if there was an easy way to have iTunes do it all for me like before.
Thanks for any and all assistance!

Check your iTunes preferences before deciding to delete anything. Go to Edit Preferences>Advanced and make sure that the box "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is checked. If it is then iTunes has been copying your files as you added them and it's safe to delete the originals. If it's not checked then only a reference to the song location has been added and you need to keep the original file in place.

  • I can not contact itunes store to update alication

    hi,
i can not contact itunes store with my iphone to update application

Im having a problem when in App Store and trying to download a game i keep getting error message saying "Can Not Connect to iTunes Store" since last night. Spent hours on the phone this afternoon with Tech Support since only 3 days old my iPad3, only to have him have me doing a restore after backing everything up...once off the phone i noticed the Restore wouldnt even work on my PC, saying an unknown error has occured. I am dreading having to call back and spend the next few hours on the phone with them on a brand new product. If still having problems going back to Apple Store in the local mall where hubby bought it for my bday present 5 days ago and will be demanding a brand new one... why should i have to restore a brand new product that was barely used during the past 3 days to factory settings..to me it is a product defect and want a new one since its brand new!! just thought id let you know what Apple Tech Support was having me do with basically same message. Good Luck.

My iphone is no longer working I have black screen with a picture of the itunes logo and a USB cable.  When I try to connect my iphone to itunes the device is not detected, can anyone help me? I desperatley need my phone back

I have had a 3GS for 2+ years.  After upgrading to IOS 4 (now 4.3.5) I began having problems.  In the past week, my screen went to the itunes logo and USB cable twice -- unprovoked -- just found it sitting there like that!  I connected to itunes and it did restore from a backup but it is a major inconvenience.  I am also searching for answers, but better back-up regularly!

  • My iPad will not load my photos from my pictures using ios5 iTunes. Works fine with my iPod. Does the fact I have photos taken on my iPad have any impact?

My iPad does not load my pictures folders from iTunes. It works fine to my iPod. I am using ios5 and a pc, does the fact I have photos taken on my iPad got anything to do with it?

Having photos that you took with the iPsd has nothing to do with this at all.
When you sync photos to the iPad, you can select one main photo folder only - as described above - using the sync photos from heading within the photos tab of iTunes. You can have one level of sub folders within that main folder as well that you can sync to the iPad.
All of the photos must remain selected to sync each time or the unselected photos will be erased from the device.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Click on the "Sync Photos From" heading and navigate to the pictures folder on your computer that you want to sync.
Click on all of the sub folders within that main photos folder that you want to sync. You can select as many sub folders within that main folder that you want to put on the iPad as long as you use one level of folders only in the main photos folder.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
