Pictures not opening in Editor

Windows 7 - 64-Bit
Photoshop Elements 11
I have all my pictures in a Photoshop Elements Catalog
I open the catalog & choose the picture I want to edit in Photoshop Elements Editor
The majority of the time, when Photoshop Elements Editor opens,  the picture is not there.
If I reboot my computer, I can get it to open 1 or 2 photos, then the same thing happens again
I have searched the discussion groups for an answer, but don't find it anywhere.
I am having other issues with the program as well, but I will post those as seperate  issues.
I am trying to edit & preserve my family photos for my 90 year old mother, but at this point I am ready to find another program to do this.

You need to keep the keys pressed for several seconds. Close down Elements. Hold down the CtrlShiftAlt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst clicking on the desktop icon for the Editor or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Programs folder. Keep holding down all three keys until you get the settings option. You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?Click on YesThen wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.  You should see something like this (example PSE9)  http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-4880527-258346/320-111/Setting s-pop-upPSE9.png

  • When I click the Editor, it loads but does not open the Editor page. Options?

When I click the Editor, it loads but does not open the Editor page. Options?

Try making separate desktop icons for the Editor and Organizer. You can then launch directly. The standard desktop icon is for the welcome screen which often runs in the background or doesn’t shut down properly.
Start by right-clicking on the desktop and select:
    New >> Shortcut
    Then browse to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13
Inside the Photoshop Elements 13 folder make sure you select the application (not a shortcut) by scrolling down to the files beginning with the letter P and highlighting ‘PhotoshopElementsEditor’
Then click next followed by finish.
You can repeat for the Organizer using the different file path.
    New >> Shortcut
    Then browse to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 13 Organizer
    Highlight ‘PhotoshopElementsOrganizer’
Then click next, followed by finish.
Now that you have your separate desktop icons you can delete the one for the welcome screen, if preferred. On Mac try launching directly from Applications. [if not using PSE13 substitute your own version and go to Program Files (x86)]

    What is wrong!!!
    I can't work without him!!!

Just had this problem occur as well.
All the workspaces seem to now have the Flash Player Icons on the menu. They were not there before.
If I create a new workspace, it seems to work fine until I switch to any existing workspace and then the new workspace is also affected.
I can import a project from the other workspaces, into a new workspace and that works as well.
My only mental history is that all was well. Then I spent some time writing a project in CS4 for a day without any need for Flex Builder. Then when I returned to FLex Builder the last opened project would not run and although I can get to the new project screen, the next and Finish button although enabled fail silently.
Eclipse Galieo, Flash 4 Builder Plugin.
Not sure what path to take. Remove Flex Builder plugin? Exclipse? Certain files or hidden folders?
Any suggestions where to explore would be nice.

    Hi Jerry,
Looks like you've hit a bug in the code for the Web Page Editor (WPE) in the JSF Tools project of WTP. The design view of the WPE fails with an IllegalArgumentException in a call to the URLDecoder. I've filed a bug at Eclipse. See...
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=578&threadID=2278517
    https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=356841
To work around this until the issue is fixed, you could open this file with the "JSP Editor" - just use the "Open With" context menu option.

  • Adobe photoshop elements 12 will not open photo editor crashes every time.

My elements 12 does the same thing I have seen written here over and over. Can not open editor, crashes every time. It is updated, reinstalled and administrator is set. Does anyone from Adobe read these boards?

I asked you to try that because one thing that often happens is that the dock icon gets corrupted, and it's best to get the simple obvious problems out of the way first.
What do you mean by "several students"? Is this in a classroom situation? Are these computers all on a school intranet together? We tend to assume here that you are talking about a personal version and a problem with your own computer, not an institutional installation, unless you specify otherwise.
If this is your personal computer, the next thing to do is to delete the prefernces. Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elemetns 12 paths
and any lockfiles with the same names. To see the user library in 10.9, option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in the library, go to the saved application states folder and delete anything in there for PSE.
    Repair permissions and try again.

  • Can not open script editor in HDS

    Hi everybody,
When we open Script Editor, we see the notice: "cannot connect to distributor, script editor will now exit"
Can you help me to resovle it?
    We use ICM 7.1
    Thanks you so much!

You might also see this message if the services are running, but you are using Windows Remote Desktop (RDP), and are not logged in with console mode.
    Try this:  mstsc aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd /admin
where aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the IP address or hostname of your HDS.  The /admin switch gets you in with console mode.
Net-net, you should see the ICM process' console windows on the taskbar.  If you don't, then either the service isn't running, or you're not in /console mode.
fyi - ICM 7.1 is long-since end-of-life.  You should seriously consider upgrading to a more recent, supported release.

  • PSE 8.0 Will Not Open (Including Editor and Organizer)

I have been using PSE 8.0 for three or four years now, and I have never experienced any problems with it. Today, after installed a Wacom Intuos Creative Pen Tablet, my PSE 8.0 would not open-- nor would Editor and Organizer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, renaming certain files (as read in other answers), creating shortcuts to bypass the Welcome Screen (which also will not appear), among other solutions that I read about for similar problems. Whenever I attempt to open Organizer, a crash report appears, stating that the program has quit unexpectedly--that's all it says. If I try to open PSE 8 or Editor, the circle next to my cursor appears for a moment, but soon it disappears without a single pop-up or explanation as to why the program won't open. Since I cannot access the Welcome Screen, I cannot locate the Preference file to change the name/delete it.  If it matters, I use Windows 7.
    Any and all help is appreciated. I'm going a bit insane without my lovely Photoshop to doodle in. ;n;
    Thank you,
    ~ Mongoose

EDIT: I found the Preferences within the PSE folder, and I renamed it; afterwards, I tried to open PSE again. It reset the Preferences, yet it is still telling me that PSE has unexpectedly quit. /EDIT
I went into the PSE folder and attempted the "three finger salute" while clicking on Organizer, but all it brought up were the Organizer Properties.
Also, within the past hour, PSE has been randomly popping multiple times up to inform me that it unexpectedly quit, yet I have not tried to open it recently. I am not sure if that is important or not.

  • In Piano Roll, double click on note opens List editor. CAN I TURN THIS OFF?

While editing in the Piano Roll Editor, double clicking on a note opens up the List Editor.
    CAN I TURN THIS OFF?

I realize that it is my way of working that causes the editor to open up. When I work fast and with the zoom out a little to far, some times when trying to move a note it fails to move and when I try to move it again the List Editor opens up. I am very set in my ways after 20 years of non linear and 30 years of midi programming. I was just surprised that this is not a preference.
I really don't want to slow down my double click settings. I like them fast to avoid this very thing, false double clicking. Maybe I'll try making them faster.
Does anyone know where the support Feedback is located? I would love to request another pref be added.

  • Web Gallery not Opening Webpage Editor?

when selecting my images for a web gallery and then choosing new web gallery from selection the new folder appears in projects, but doesn't open up the webpage editor like the manual says that it should. i've been working on this for 2 hours and am up against a dead line. i just end up with a web gallery folder full of the correct images, but the browser doesn't change. hope this is enough info to help me.
    thanks,

i figured out what the deal was. you must be in the proper browser for the webpage editor to launch, the book doesn't say anything about this. i usually use the project management browser, but aperture wants you to be in the standard layout browser?? once again the book not being detailed enough.
    cheers,

  • Photos will not open in editor

I recently rebuilt my machine with new hard drives. I copied the photos folder to on offline disk, then copied back after I had set up the new system. open iphot and all looks good, until I select a photo to edit. I get a large exclamation mark, but no photo to edit.
    What is going on?

Did you name the new hard drives differently from the original ones? If so that may be why iPhoto lost the link to the original files, wrong path name. Rebuild as Terence suggested.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Pictures Not Opening in iPhoto

After rearranging my photos within the iPhoto Library folder, they will no longer open. The thumbnails appear, and the photos will open in Preview. Is it possible to arrange them to my preferences if I keep them in the Originals folder in iPhoto?

    Macinaction
It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss
so therefore: Is it possible to arrange them to my preferences if I keep them in the Originals folder in iPhoto?
    No it's not.
iPhoto is a photo organiser. It's a database and like any database it will not work if you manipulate the data outside of the application. So everything you want to do you must do via the iPhoto Window. The good news is that anything you need to can be done from inside the iPhoto Window.
To cases: To get iPhoto working again you must return it to the way it was. If you cannot do that, then you need to create and populate a new library. To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Some further info: Were organising things to make it easier to find photo files? There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Also the Film Roll view (View -> Film Rolls) corresponds exactly to the Roll folders in the Finder. Rolls can be named, created, photos can be moved between rolls - as long as this is done via the iPhoto Window and then these changes are reflected in the iPhoto Library Folder.
If you need help in achieving anything specific or clarification of anything here by all means post again.
    Regards
    TD

  • Elements 6 Organiser will not open, only Editor

I have trouble opening the Organiser of Photoshop Elements 6.  I had the program open earlier, while loading pictures from a memory card, and it behaved and closed normally.
Now when I click on the Photoshop icon, it won't open at all.  I have tried various ways, and if I Explorer to choose a photograph and "Open With", it only gives me the option of Photoshop Elements (Editor). Nothing happens when I click on the Organiser icon inside the Editor.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Just do one thing, close all the procese running in the background for Elements
Then launch from the explorer :
-- if its launches on the first screen , then drag theat window the second screen and maximize that scrren , as u maximize it may dissappear, then close all the processes again, and now try to run the organiser from shortcut, this time it should launch on the second screen
-- if its launches on the second screen , then minimize that  scrren , as u minimize it may dissappear, then close all the processes again, and now try to run the organiser from shortcut, this time it should launch on the first screen screen, and then u may drag that again to second screen and repeat the first step as mentioned above
This should work, i have tested it

  • PSE does not open the editor from LR 4.4.......a big problem for a lot of people.

I have PSE 12 and LR 4.4 on iMac 10.9.5.  My LR preference is set to PSE Editor and was done so by LR, I cannot change it.  When I try to edit in PSE, an 8 bit Tiff is created then I get the error message that "there was a problem.......".  In the details is this line:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/AdobeLinguistic.framework/Versions/3/AdobeLinguistic
Referenced from: /Volumes/VOLUME/*/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor
      Reason: image not found
I do not understand this, but the problems seems related to the Library, which, I don't know.  I had PSE 12.1, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled PSE 12.0 (I can no longer update back to 12.1).  It made no difference, same error message.

BTW, I tried moving the Editor app from the support file into the app folder per fixes on this issue in the past.
