Pictures of callers in start screen

I am getting pictures of unwanted contacts in my start screen. How can I remove them or take action that they will no longer appear.
My account is set to private and only people on my contactlist are allowed to call.
Thanks in advance for reply.
Abel

If you are seeing pictures of your blocked contacts in the row with "top contacts", then this is a well known BUG in the latest Skype 6.14 version for Windows desktop. The "solution" is to revert to the previous 6.13.0.104 version.

  • Cannot change lock screen, start screen and account picture

I cannot change my lock screen, start screen and account picture on my windows 8 pro. my windows 8 pro is activated please please help me....

    Hi,
As you said, your system was activated.
So,I think this problem occurs when a required Registry key is missing in Windows 8. It might be deleted accidentally or intentionally by the user or it might be deleted by a 3rd party software.
I suggest you refer to the following article to see if the issue was resolved.

  • How to pin a webpage to the start screen in Windows 8.1?

    Hi,
I need help with this, please. I am using Windows 8.1 Pro x64. I have a big offline website, whose index page is "default.html". I want to pin this default.html to the metro start screen. Is it possible?
I also tried "Add site to apps" option in Internet Explorer. But it said "The website can't be added to you start sceen", may be because it an offline HTML page.
If anyone knows how to do this, please help me.

Thank you very much. Now, please.. can I change the default IE picture of the pinned tile? If yes, how?

  • Unable to Switch Users on Window 8 Start Screen

I can not switch users from the Windows 8 Start Screen.
Previously when I clicked on the current user Icon in the upper right corner, all the users were displayed for selection.
Now it just displays a pull-down menu (1) Change account picture, (2) Lock and (3) Sign out.
When I (3) Sign Out the display turns black then returns with the current user sign in screen.

I am having the same problem, only there is NO option to Select Other User.  This is the second time this issue has happened and I would like to know how to re-enable the option to switch to another user without refreshing the PC.

  • Picture of caller on lock screen

I am still needing help to find out how I can get the picture of callers on my iPhone when they call me. Since I updated my phone, the callers picture does not appear. What can I do to get that feature back?

Since you say you see the picture once the lock screen is open, this is probably not relevant.  But just in case it is, here's some information about limitations on contact pictures:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11580
As I say, I doubt it's relevant, but I'm running low on ideas.  I do see contact photos on my lock screen using iOS 6.  I know restrictions might be applied to photos (in Settings > General > Restrictions).  Might that be the issue?

  • HT201412 iPad jumps from the start screen to the white apple screen every 2 to 3 seconds and will not stop. Shutting it off and resetting has no affect.

My iPad jumps from the start screen to the white apple screen every 2 to 3 seconds. Turning it off or resetting it does not work. The restore from iTunes will not work due to the fact that I need to click off Find My Devise before I can restore...I can't get in to click that off.
    Any ideas?

  • Desktop vs. Start Screen

Why no tiles front and center on the desktop instead of (or in addition to) having them on the Start Screen?
Also, why two separate areas for settings: "PC Settings" and Control Panel?

I love the new start menu.  Definate improvement.  No need to train our users and we can finally move from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
However the live tiles in the start menu do not make sense.  You need to click on the start menu to see a live tile.  Unfortunately the Windows Feedback app in Windows 10 does not allow you to attach a picture.  Microsoft should add the live
tiles as a replacement for the taskbar (or a toolbar that can be added to the taskbar).  Then the live tiles are pinned and we can see updates.  A user can shrink the taskbar to one row where it would behave almost exactly like the current taskbar.
Additionally a user with three screens could even have different taskbar sizes showing the same items but at different sizes.  This makes way more sense.  I've attached a mock up to show how it could look on a three display desktop.
This allows for a user to easily bring live tiles to the forefront by dragging up the size of the taskbar.  This would work well with Continuum for devices like the surface which are both a tablet and laptop.

How to remove the pic icon from the start screen?

You can turn it off via Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Picture Frame , but only if you have a passcode set - if you don't use a passcode lock, then you can't turn picture frame off (the option will be greyed out)

I have recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 Spring Update on my surface Pro 2 and notice that when I close out apps it goes to the start screen instead of the previously used app as MS suggest it should.
I am using the same media to install on a laptop and it works as expected, the surface pro 2 does not.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You won't see the power button on the Start Screen on any tablet that uses Connected Standby (aka InstantGo) - it's by Microsoft's design. So you will be running Update 1 if you are being told that all updates are installed.

  • A1 Not Progressing From Android Start Screen

    Hey guys,
My tablet was working perfectly until recently I kept getting random error messages in which I decided to factory reset the tablet. However, I couldn't start it up as I have to press the Android logo to move on in the start screen from a factory reset and pressing the logo does nothing. I am now constantly stuck on this page. My device was rooted before so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. If anyone has any solutions, please help. I have searched the board for something similar to this but no success. Thanks.

  • Windows 8 boots to a different start screen

windows 8 boots to a different start screen sometimes after entering my user password. The computer is an HP Envy23 d250 touchscreen all in one desktop. When it boots up it boots to a different color(default)and only a couple tiles showing. I shutdown the computer and turn it on again and it boots up correctly. This has happened several times in the past 2 weeks. Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes, if Windows feels that your profile is corrupted, it is logging into temporary profile. Upon restart, it is able to repair your profile and log you in. As this is intermittent, I am not sure of any troubleshooting steps.
However, I would not recommend keeping any files in the profile either on the desktop, documents, pictures, music, videos etc.,
    I am an HP employee.

  • How do I make web shortcuts into start screen tiles that can be pushed to all users profile on a computer in Windows 8.1 enterprise?

We are trying to roll out Windows 8.1 Enterpise in our school system (K-12).
The focus of this question is how do we take an internet web based shortcut and make it into a screen tile (on the start screen) which will appear for any user's start screen that logs on to the computer?
    The details:
We came upon a great paper that's entitled "Customize Windows 8.1 Start Screens by Using Group Policy".
By applying this paper we were able to accomplish our first goal: Lock down the start screen so no user could change it. We accomplished this by using the Start Screen Layout policy setting laid out in the paper.
Our second goal: to customize the start screen is only half way met. We can set up the start screen the way we want and then export the .xml file. We are able to "reimport" the .xml file when the new user logs in. The installed programs
will appear on the Start Screen but not the internet based web shortcuts that were on the inital setup start screen.
(FYI - tried creating these tiles by running the start screen internet explorer app to the intended address and pinning them to the start screen. At this time trying to figure if there is a place to put desktop internet short cuts into a directory to make
them appear on the Start Screen).
We can see that the directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs is a place for program files to appear on the start screen. Is there a location web based shortcuts can be placed to cause them to automatically appear on the start
screen for every user as well? If not how do we accomplish getting these into tiles for every user logging in?
Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Hopefully it gets our question answered and helps others out there in the same boat!

    Karen-
Results: Did not work. The web based shortcuts did not appear.
Below is the steps taken with your tips incorporated. (Again it's lengthy sorry about that, but anyone can recreate what was done here. Maybe someone can see something left out by doing/reviewing it).
    Here is what was done:
    1. Installed a fresh install of Windows 8.1 enterprise on a pc. No updates were ran.
    2. During setup created the admin account.
    3. Logged into the account a simple start screen was arranged and setup by:
Starting desktop Internet Explorer. Going to Technet's website. Clicked tools and then selecting "Add site to Apps" from the drop down menu. Went to Apps screen, right clicked and pinned it to start screen. Repeated this procedure with an
    educational web based site.
Right clicked a few provisioned apps and unpinned them from the start screen.
Made a few groups and labeled them. Web based shortcuts were arranged with one provisioned app in that particular group.
    4. Opened a Powershell, right clicked it and ran as administrator. Typed the following:
    export-startlayout -path C:\Users\Public\Master.xml -as xml
(Master is the name chosen for this test .xml file and was put in a location all users would have privelages to access it).
    5. Opened the command prompt and right clicked and "ran as administrator", typed in gpedit.
    6. In the Local Group Policy under User Configuration, under Start Menu and Taskbar I choose the Start Screen Layout.
    7. Enabled the policy and typed in: C:\Users\Public\Master.xml for the Start Layout File.
    8. Opened computer management, under Local Users and Groups I chose Users, right clicked in the middle screen and created a new user called Alpha.
    9. Logged out of the inital account and logged into newly created Alpha account.
    10. When the Alpha account logged in the start screen came up with everything changed in the inital account but no web based shortcuts were found on the start screen or App view.

  • My mail app quits a few seconds after launching. I get a blank screen and then it goes back to the starter screen

THe mail app on my ipad 2 quits right after launching. This happened as I was forwarding an email with a long attachment. Now I get a blank screen with just the icons, no mail mailboxes etc. after a few seconds that blank screen disappears and we go back to the starter screen. I tried rebooting, relaunching but no luck so far. Can somebody help me? Thanks
    Hans V

Have you tried removing the email account from the app through settings?  I would try removing it, rebooting, opening the email app to see if it still crashes,  & then adding it back your email account.
If you're leary about causing more issues while you're not home, you could always try using a third party mail app (there are many), accessing your email through it...not a fix for your problem but a way to deal with the situation until you can get it worked out.
Resetting all settings on the iPad (not deleting content) is a good way to clear many errors as it can remove leftover cache files & files that have become corrupt.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.  Good luck & let us know if you get it working.
