Pictures on ipod classic

i am travelling in the US and bought an Ipod classic 2 days ago.
i uploaded some pictures from a friends pc, but i would like to upload more pictures from a different pc.
i found out, i can use the ipod as a disc-drive too but if i save the pictures there, i cannot look at them on the ipod(as far as i know). and if i put them through itunes on the ipod, as soon as i try to add pictures from a different pc i loose the old ones.
My question: is there a way to add pictures with itunes from different pcs without loosing the old ones?
thanks for any help

Floola is one of the options.

  • How to transfer pictures from ipod classic to my new imac

Hello , I am a bit of a MAC novice so be gentle! (newest imac with most up to date itunes and mountain lion)
I have an Ipod classic with almost 600 pictures on that I wish to transfer to my new IMAC yet I cannot find an easy way to do this short of buying some extra software. I would appreciate any solutions.

I think iPhoto should see them, and the Image Capture utility that came with your Mac will also see pictures on cameras and iPods/iPhones/iPads. Once the pictures are listed in Image Capture, you can drag them to any folder on your computer.

  • No cover pictures appear on ipod classic

    Hey,
In i-tunes you'll see pictures of the cover of the album, but on my ipod they do not appear. It's not with all the albums but with a lot of them. Some of them are legally bought in the i-pod store or I have the original cd myself.
So does anyone know why I do see the cover on the tab 'info' of i-tunes but not on my ipod classic?
    Thanks a lot!

*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough.

  • Picture problem on iPod classic

I received my ipod classic in Nov. and loaded it up with all of my stuff. (I needed to replace my 5th generation because it fell out of my purse in the driveway and my husband drove over it - oops!) At that time I could see all of my pictures, and when photos was highlighted in the main menu they should up to the side. I just noticed today that when photos is highlighted, now they don't show up anymore. I went to photos - all and it showed all my pictures in thumbnail version. But, when I click on a specific picture the screen goes blank. I have reset it and it is still doing the same thing. I hate to reinstall, because, I admit it, I just don't want to reload everything. Any suggestions?

Same problem. I had a nano and the pics worked fine. I upgrade today to the tune of $350 and i can't see pics. What gives Apple?

                Thanks

    Hello BigFanOfApple,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod classic.  In most cases, the sad iPod icon indicates a hardware issue.  I recommend reviewing the following article:

  • IPod Classic - ok with Windows, not with iTunes

    Hi,
    I have a Classic 160GO iPod.
    Suddenly this problem appeared :
    - no music or pictures were recognized by my iPod, but the disk space was used for "Other"
    - this iPod is not known with iTunes
    - This iPod is known as a removable hard disk, via Windows 7 (Main computer), Windows XP (secondary computer), a linux thing (a friend computer).
    1. I already checked this iPod with the diagnostics mode (see https://discussions.apple.com/message/19048752#19048752)
    result is :
    - reallocs : 0
    - Pending sectors : 32
My understanding is that my iPod hard disk is ok and valid.
    2. I followed most of the recommended way to repaird the iPod as per Support (8 out of 10)
    NOthing is working.
I confirm I have installed the latest version of iTunes.
    3. I read the following page : https://discussions.apple.com/message/19158071#19158071 to find the relevant firmware.
But the iPod Classic 160GO is not in the list.
    My questions
--> Do you have an idea to solve my problem ?
--> What could happend i I format my iPod with windows ? It would be only a hard disk after, wouldn't it ?
    --> I f I format, is there a solution to re-install the iPod software (= firmware ?)
    Thank you for your help.

The iPod hardisk is  looks new from the Reallocs and ON Hours, but, it is rebooting more to get the correct spin for data verification, causing tImeouts,  so the Pending Sector will increase.
There maybe something, near the iPod environment, that is causing the drive to fail, and overheat, if it has not already been damaged, or maybe it is just one Hardisk, that slipped through poor quality control.
You can bring the Retract, Realloc and pending number low, by doing low level format, see this article, but your problem of Hardisk rebooting to find a good cluster, wont go away
    Just my thoughts.
Magnets are the primary cause of hardisk crashes,  I would also suspect, using your handphone, while it is near the iPod would also be bad, see the YouTube video on hardboiled eggs using handphone.

  • IPod Classic not being recognized by iTunes

Okay, so I've had an iPod Classic (30 gb) for a while now, and it stopped working for some unknown reason. The thing that's happening is that it's not recognized by the computer at all; once I plug it into the USB drive, the computer says that there's a USB device that isn't recognized. iTunes doesn't pick it up, and with that in mind, I can't reformat it at all. I know for a fact that it's not the cable that is faulty because I've used it with a friend of mines iPod, and even ON my computer, so this is a bit puzzling....
To make things worse, the battery is completely dead, and when I plug it in, this weird symbol appears on the screen.... it doesn't look like a normal "recharging" symbol. It appears more like this one:
    Actual default charging example
    http://images.apple.com/support/ipod101/anatomy/images/anatomy03-1.jpg
My iPods picture (which I outlined with MS Paint for a better view)
    http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/AVMYoshi/Scraps/IMG000035.jpg
It also RANDOMLY begins charging.... although I'm aware of this because while the iPod is connected, the battery icon is green with the little thunderbolt flashing, I believe..... I'm not sure, it's only done that once so far, but I made sure to check that if it was even at all charging, it was still not identified by the computer or iTunes. So any help would greatly be appreciatted...

    Hi There,
Sounds like you've got a few issues going on there... If your device is not recognizing the iPod, than you could have an issue with the drivers on the PC which maybe a uninstall and reinstall of iTunes COULD fix...
However, based on what you're also saying about the icons on the screen you may have a device issue... Can your iPod's screen be found on this page?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1435
As the image you're trying to display is this one of those under the low charging icons, which may be normal... But if you're having other issues by the iPod just stopping then that's why I say your iPod may be having an issue... Plus the version of the iPod that you have is one of the original ones which have been discontinued for a while now.
If you can't find a resolution but want this device, try iResQ.com they offer some great services and buy users old iPods to fix ones like yours...
Otherwise you might have to bite the bullet and get a new device.
Sorry but that's about the only advice one can offer to you!

  • IPod Classic won't go into diognostic or disk mode

I've been having trouble with my 160gb iPod classic the last few days, after deciding to sync it for the first time in 5 years. It keeps coming up with different error problems half way through syncing or causing my iTunes to freeze and eventually I have to restore the iPod. Restored it about 5 times in the last 2 days. However, this time an error message came up saying it couldnt be restored due to an unknown error. I had it in disk mode at the time so rebooted it but it froze on the apple logo. I thought I would try putting it in diognostic mode for the first time to see if that could give me any clues as to what was wrong. However it doesn't seem to want to go into diognostic mode and is now refusing to go into disk mode too.
After sitting on the apple logo for a while it came up with a picture of the iPod end of the usb wire, saing 'Connect to itunes to restore'. So I've plugged it into my laptop (Windows Vista) but it isn's showing up in iTunes...just making my iTunes freeze.
Anyone got any ideas? Unfortunately I haven't got the money to buy a new iPod so I really need this one to be fixed. Unfortunately technology seems to hate me (My laptop stopped working so having to use my mums...my external harddrive giving up ghost after only a couple of years for no reason what so ever, my iPhone not working properly etc etc etc)
I miss the days when you could just plug in an MP3 player and copy the files onto it like you do a memory card *sigh*

Charge it up fully. Toggle the hold switch. Try getting into diagnostics mode again. See Corrupt iPod classic.

  • My iPod Classic is not syncing to my Mac. When I plug it in, it tells me the servers do not support it or something along those lines. It is an iPod Classic 8g, and I bought it used for 30. Any help????

Today I bought an iPod Classic 8gb for 30 quid. When I bought it (used) of of a friends, it played music fine, I could listen to it, and it worked ok. So I go home to reset it so I can put my account on it, and sync it with all my music I have (I want to use it when I hit the gym instead of using my iPhone), but when I plugges it in and restored it, it finished the restoration but NOW it wont let me sync all of my stuff on to it, and the iPod is completely black. I restored it to Factory settings, it shouldnt be doing this???? When I plug it in , I get an error that says
"The iPod software update server could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes."
Makes me pretty ticked off, like honestly how ******* old is this ******* iPod???
Im also running version 10.9 on my MacBook Pro

Perhaps the reason you haven't had any replies is because there is no such thing as an 8GB iPod Classic.
I suggest that you begin by correctly identifying which iPod you have.

  • I have an iPod Classic and when I try to move songs from my library to my iPod, my iTunes freezes. When I tried to eject my iPod, nothing happened and I had to force quit iTunes. When I unplugged my iPod, all of my songs had been deleted. What can I do?

After attempting to move songs from my iTunes library to my iPod Classic, the pinwheel kept spinning and iTunes froze. I tried pressing CTRL E to eject the iPod, but nothing happened. I unplugged the iPod then force quit iTunes, but when I checked my iPod all of the songs had been deleted. I tried plugging the iPod back in and slowly moved music over again, but iTunes still froze. I don't want to restore it to factory settings because I am afraid of losing the pictures I have on there and can't figure out how to get them off.

    Are you using a Macbook?
If all your songs on the iPod are deleted, most likely the photios are gone too.
Unless you put the photos, via Diskmode.
To recover the photos that you've put in Diskmode, use Finder to locate where it is in the iPod.
Try also if iPhoto can locate those photos.

  • IPod Classic will not properly sync

Hey everybody. I'm really hoping that somebody could help me out with this, as I am getting rather frustrated with it.
My iPod Classic 120GB will not properly sync with iTunes on Windows 7. When I plug my iPod into my computer, I get the typical "Scan & Fix" message from Windows, and I generally just close the window without selecting an option (to Scan & Fix or Ignore), as neither option has ever seemed to change anything.
I used to have over 100GB of music on my iPod, collected from various sources over the past 5 years or so, but a few months ago I plugged my iPod in to add new music to it, and iTunes did not recognize any of the files on my iPod. When I ejected it, there was no music on my iPod, but it still had 100GB of space filled. I decided to just bite the bullet and reformat my iPod, even though I would be losing most of my music, in hopes that I could make it work correctly.
However, after I reformatted it, I have continued to have problems. I have reformatted using both iTunes and the Windows reformatting tool. Every time I plug my iPod in to add new music, the same things happen. I'm not automatically syncing iTunes to my iPod, because I like to be able to manage my music manually. I can add some music to it, but certain files will not copy and then nothing alphabetically after those files will copy either. I eject my iPod and use it normally throughout the day, but then when I plug it back into my computer again to try to add the rest of my music, iTunes says that my iPod has no music on it (even though space is being used). When this happens, I just restore the iPod and try again, and this is getting extremely aggravating.
My music is all in MP3 format, and I am not trying to add movies, pictures, or any other files to my iPod (other than cover art). I have run anti-virus checks and stuff on all of my music files, and everything has come up clean. Should I try converting all of my music to AAC, or will this just take forever and not actually fix anything? I have already tried downgrading to an older version of iTunes, and I have still been having the same issues. I don't know what else I could do, and I really don't have the money to buy a new iPod.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

There may be some hardware fault on the iPod's hard drive, which is causing this problem.  Your use of manual loading may be agravating the problem, because you are making the iPod apply many small incremental disk access updates.  If you used automatic syncing, iTunes makes all changes at once, with one disk access, then dismounts the iPod's disk and spins down until the next sync, when it again makes all updates at once.
I understand why you want to use the manual method, but here's a way to "replicate" what you do manually using automatic syncing.
Create a new playlist in iTunes.  Load this playlist with ALL the songs you want on the iPod.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Click on Music there.  On the Music tab, set it to Sync music using Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, keep it simple by checkmarking ONLY that new playlist with the songs you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs on that playlist sync to the iPod.
Going forward, to update the iPod's songs, just update that playlist (add and remove songs).  Basically, instead of manually updating the iPod, you are manually updating the playlist.  It's the same work, but with several key advantages:
    - The iPod does not need to be connected to make updates, increasing flexibility and reducing wear-and-tear on iPod.  Just connect the iPod once after you are done making all changes to the playlist.
    - Updates to a playlist are instantaneous.  Updates made directly to an iPod (especially one with a hard drive that may need to spin up) takes a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on data size.  You're just waiting.
    - Many small updates to the iPod's hard drive is more wear-and-tear, compared to iTunes applying all of your changes with one consolidated disk access.
    - iTunes keeps the iPod's "disk" NOT mounted, except when syncing.  This reduces wear-and-tear, and the chance of data corruption occuring.  The manual method requires the iPod's disk to be mounted at all times (until ejected).
    - Because the iPod's disk is not mounted most of the time, you don't need to eject before disconnecting.
    - You have a backup of all of your iPod songs on the computer's hard drive.
    - If you do a Restore, or if you get a new iPod, all you do is go to the Music tab and select that one playlist again, and click Apply.  Everything back to the way it was before, with a few mouse clicks (and 20-30 minutes or so of syncing).
If you want multiple playlists on the iPod, just create those playlists in the iTunes library.  Name them so that they all appear grouped together in the iTunes sidebar.  Checkmark those playlists on the Music tab.  Do your "song maintenance" in iTunes using those playlists, and let iTunes automatically sync all changes at once the next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button).
Try setting it up to use automatic syncing, to see if there is any improvement.
