Pictures transferred but they are not there.Where are they?

I went to the "genius" bar. They moved my pictures from my old mac to the new one. The genius, dragged my pictures into the iphoto icon, and I waited at the "bar" for over an hour for the photos to download. I saw with my own eyes that they were all transferred.
Today I open iphoto and it acts like I have never ever used it before. It actually asked me to select a iphoto library and didn't have anything to select from. No pictures nothing. Where are these pictures? Are they lost?

This is not the correct way to move photos to a new computer - The correct way is to Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
