Pictures turn to black once imported and converted to DV.....HELP!

Hi. I scanned a bunch of photos (all JPEG's), and imported them in to iMovie HD 6. They all show up fine at first, but as they are being converted to DV (red bar runs across), for about half of the pictures.....the pic disappears, the area turns BLACK, and when played, nothing appears. It makes no sense. They are all on my internal hard drive, and were all scanned using the same setting. Somehow, though, half work in iMovie and half don't. I'm getting very frustrated. Why is this happening and how do I fix it???

I had reduced mine to about 1500 pixels, and they all worked after that. They should really make it so that the program TELLS you that you can't import pics that large. I feel like I'm dealing with a PC here.

    Hello LaugesenDK
Follow the steps in the article below to put your iPhone into recovery mode and then you should be able to restore your iPhone. If you have a back up you can put your back up to get your data back after it completes it restore process.

  • Computer turns off when importing CDs and converting files! HELP!

    Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble importing music from CDs and converting files on my computer. The computer just turns off when I do these things and I'm really stuck as to why. Can anyone help?

I just started having the same problem. I was able to import songs from 5 cds with no problem, but when I tried a few more my mac started shutting down about halfway through the import of the song. It doesn't matter how many songs I choose to import, it happens on the first one everytime. Did you find a fix for this?

  • Import and convert MPG using vbscript

    Hi,
Does anybody know can I import a video file and convert the footage to iPod compatible format using vbscript?
Can I use the following script to import a mpg file?

    Hi,
Does anybody know can I import a video file and convert the footage to iPod compatible format using vbscript?

Thanks, but I know iTunes 6 (windows version) has a built-in function to convert a video to a format for iPod G5. That's why I wonder if the iTunes Windows COM SDK has the function call so that I can automatically import my scheduled recording to iPod. I think that's the advantage of iTunes / iPod. Actually I love my iPod G3 and iPod mini, but I don't see a reason for me to upgrade to G5 if it only accept H264 and mp4 because all my recordings (directly from my TV card) are only mpeg format and there is currently no command line tools to convert them for iPod. I know a bit of programming and it is much more conveninent to use scripts to do the mpg -> ipod conversion automatically than doing it manually using GUI programs..
    Thanks

As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Tru importing from your camera to it and to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • Following download of version 23.0.1 I lost all previous history but not bookmarks. How do I recover old history? Recovery in "import and backup" does not help

My remembered and retained history was going back quite a few months. Following update of Firefox to 23.0.1 I lost all my history and Firefox only retains websites visited after the new version was installed. My bookmarks have been retained. I tried Recover in "Import and backup" but it only goes back to the date of the new installation. I tried places.sqlite in "Roaming" but there is only one with today's date. Is there a way to recover the lost history? Why did Firefox lose it? Will it happen averytime Firefox updates?

Backup your bookmarks manually. If you have been using the "import" you may have already lost some information by overwriting it. As a matter of course you should always save current bookmarks manually before using any restores.
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
That way you can ensure you are able to restore the complete current set. Put your .json backup file somewhere safe outside Firefox program or profile paths. The Windows Desktop or removable media would be suitable.
Firefox does create some autobackups of bookmarks but does not do anything about backing up the History. Luckily Windows probably backs up previous versions of your file ''places.sqlite'' and that is the database with History and bookmarks in it. See if you can recover a recent version of that, it will restore your history up to the date of the restored file.
    * http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-questions
    * the file ''places.sulite'' is in the Firefox profile, a hidden folder that is easy to find by using troubleshooting. see [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data#w_how-do-i-find-my-profile]]_how-do-i-find-my-profile
Afterwards import your more recent bookmarks from wherever they were saved. The import overwrites the slightly older bookmarks from the Windows file.
You my also then wish to install and run the addon places maintenance.
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
That may be used to check and repair the places.sqlite database. It will give a short status report. Note if the places.sqlite runs out of space it starts deleting History.
In future you my wish to routinely create occasional backups of your profile or at least your places.sqlite

  • Pictures turn to black and white exclamation marks when i click on them!

Could someone please help me! My iphoto randomly deleted all of my photos from it's library, and i have spent ages re-importing them. now when i click on a picture to view it in large it changes to a large, blurry exclamation mark within a second! What is going on?!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
My guess is that what has happened here is that your database has been damaged and the re-importing effort hasn’t worked because you’ve been importing to the same damaged DB.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards

  • Why does a picture turn half-black?

I've scanned an old slide, cleaned it up and have tried to use it in a book.  Occasionally, the upper half of the picture will go completely black on the screen. Restarting Aperture will often correct this, but even when it show correctly on screen, it will still print half-black.  I've done this with hundreds of other photos from scanned slides, but the half-black phenomenon has only ever shown up on this one.
Maverick disabled server functionality, which I have not yet restored, but I don't think that's relevant to this issue.

I went to Apple's phone support for this, and they were excellent.  Attaboys for Jamal and Christian!  It turns out that when I copied the Aperture library from my laptop to my Mini server as part of a plan to centralize photographic services, some elements of the library were corrupted.  The process by which Aperture 'exports' a photo for printing or incorporation in a book seems to be that it goes back to the original and applies all adjustments.  Although the version seen in the book editing window looked fine, anything 'printed' was corrupted, which suggests that it was the record of adjustments that was damaged, since the solution Jamal found went back to the original.
He proposed (and walked me through, to make sure everything would work) exporting the original of a damaged photo, deleting the original and all versions from the library, renaming the exported file and reimporting it.  All adjustments had to be redone, but it worked.  Which was a good thing, because the last ditch measure would have required restoring a copy of the library from my laptop, if Time Machine still has a copy of that months-old file!
It occured to me later that I might have tried taking a screen shot of the image as it appeared in the book editing window, deleting original and all copies followed by reimport.  If the quality was acceptable for the application, that would have saved the readjustment step.
The problem arose on 4 photos out of 400 used in two books, so, if that is representative, there's a 1% chance I'll have to do this again.  Hope I can remember how!

  • Computer Freezes while importing and converting music

I recently updated to Itunes 10.1.2, and now anytime I want to import a cd to my library or convert a non-aac format song into aac format, my computer freezes. Whats weird is my computer only freezes at 99.9 % importing/converting. i.e If I want to import a cd with 16 tracks, itunes will import the first 15 and then almost finish the 16th when my computer freezes. The first 15 songs are then added to my library and run properly upon restart of my computer but the 16th is not. Converting does the same thing even i convert only one song. I've tried re-installing, and downgrading to an older versions of itunes (9.2.1.5) and the same problem occurs. Any suggestions?

  • Embedded movie not playing once imported and placed in Dreamweaver

I have created a Flash index page to be placed in a html document for publishing.  The flash document as a .SWF file with a FLV file embedded, which is an image slide show with sound track. Everything appears to work in Flash 8 when tested including links, and slide show including the sound track.  When I create the HTML file with Dreamweaver 8 and save and test the file the background appears the buttons appear to work but do not seem to navigate to the blank text pages that I have made for testing.
But the biggest problem is the FLV file does not even start the center section of the page stays black.  The clear movie controls do not appear on the screen with mouseover either.
The image slide show file is one created for me by: ANIMOTO and was downloaded as  a MP4 file.  I used Flash 8 to covert it to FLV with no problems.
Can anyone tell me if you can embed a FLV file in a swf file and then import it to the html file created with dreamweaver...???
    And if so....HOW?????
    Randy
PS.  Is the upload section going to ever work again???

Hi Amy and welcome to our community
If your sound isn't playing in preview, check the way you are
previewing. Are you using the "Play this slide" preview? If so, you
may have muted the little icon in the Timeline.
If you aren't hearing audio after you publish, check the
Publish settings. Click the Publish toolbar button, then click the
Preferences... button. Look at the dialog that should appear. Is
there a check mark in the check box option labeled: "Inclue audio
    when project is generated"?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Importing and converting WMA to AAC error

I am trying to convert my music files and import to itunes.
When I attempt to bulk transfer I get an error with one track and the entire process stops. When I retry that track individually it does not produce an error.
Why does itunes stop the entire process for the one track that produced the error. Can I somehow reconfigure itunes to skip tracks with errors and continue converting and importing the rest of the tracks. It has become a timely process but it is going to get much worse if I have to do each track individually.
If Windows media player encounters a problem it skips the track and contiues with the remaining tracks.
Not a glowing start for my apple experience.
Thanks in advance for any help that is given

  • Importing and Converting AIFF to MP3

Purchased a CD with 12 AIFF files of music. Copied files to USB drive and inmported to iTUNES 8.0.2 and successfully imported files but the artist info and album name are gone. My ultimte goal was to convert from AIFF to mp3 so I could load it on Blackberry Bold 9000 on microSD card. Is there a way to import AIFF files while retaining info on music and save as mp3 files ?

AIFF files have no tagging. This article explains how iTunes remembers CD's - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93952
To be as painless as possible I would import/rip the tunes directly from the CD into iTunes and allow iTunes to go to the internet to fill in the blanks. If you do it this way then iTunes should tag the mp3's.

  • Imovie import and converts avchd into AIC involved .mov

I am new to this and want to start off on the right foot. I noticed after importing 3 events this weekend from my HDR-CX12 (Sony) I have associated .mov files in the event directory under ~/Movies/IMovie/Events/ This concerns me since from my understanding AIC is great for editing but not so great for viewing. I wish to view these clips on a Popcorn Hour or other platforms.
Should I keep the original files that the camcorder records in another directory?
I see IMovie can export, but can it only export projects (not events)?
I have fooled around with MPEG stream and found that going from AIC into another format will lose a lot of its quality not to mention the hassle of getting it to work (video or audio sometimes is lost if the format wasn't chosen correctly). What is a common work flow pattern people follow?

AIC is actually a great codec for viewing - except that it is very large, so you can't really use it on an iPod or over the internet.
Definitely keep the original AVCHD files that the camera records. The best way to do this is to create a disk image on your hard drive that is just large enough for the files. Move the entire contents of your camcorder into the disk image. You should be able to mount this disk image and import from it into iMovie as if it were a camera. Once you have it working, you can reformat your camera and be ready for the next shoot. If you wish you can burn your disk image to DVD for additional backup.
    General workflow:
    Shoot in AVCHD
    Import into iMovie creates AIC
Edit in AIC (You don't have to know this. iMovie does it under the covers.)
Share your movie in h.264 for viewing on computer, TV, iDVD, iPod, iTunes, etc.
    iMovie can only export projects.
One exception is that iDVD can make a DVD of Events. The Events from iMovie will show up in the Media Browser of iDVD. If you want to watch unedited footage, you can do this.

This picture isn't from my iphone, but it's an example.

Sync your phone to your computer and then deselect sync all photos to your phone and that will delete them.
