Pie Chart Text Overwriting other text

I have a web report on which there is a pie chart. The pie chart has labels that display the characteristic value, and the percentage that it represents (eg Material 1, 33%)
I find that when one of the values is a very small percentage, that the labels appear on top of each other, making both of them very difficult to read.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this so that they don't overwrite each other?
Thanks in advance for any assistance
Regards
Rich

HI,
While SAP solves the problem , you can do a quick fix by displaying only one either Char or % on pie chart and have a legend to display the other value(i.e normally charecterstic).

  • Pie Chart -- Text on Axis

Help. I have created a pie chart. The chart has a title at the top and the legend appears to the right of the pie chart. However, my problem is there is "text" that is appearing at the bottom of the pie chart with the name of the data values column name. How can I get that text (subtitle) to disappear. Ex.
O ---------> pie chart with data values showing and legend to the right (okay).
xxxxx -------> text at the bottom of pie chart (do not want this text to appear). I'm not sure if this is
considered "text" or a "label". I just need to turn it off. Help
    Thanks in advance!

  • Error while creating a Pie Chart

    Hi Experts,
I have prepared a spreadsheet in Web Analysis in which two dimensions are appearing in Rows, one dimension in Columns and one dimension in Page View.
When I convert this spreadsheet into a Pie Chart, or any other chart for that matter, no data is displayed. If I remove one dimension from Rows to POV, data starts appearing in the chart. But it is not a relevant chart as the data shown in it is not in the format in which it is required.
Kindly help in resolving this issue.
    Regards,
    SYR

    Hi Sa'ad
Its been a little while since I used Web Analysis but I remember that there are issues if you have more than 1 dimension in rows or columns. What I cannot remember is whether it automatically shifts a dimension to the page or whether as you suggest it just doesn't display.
Pie charts can only display data from two dimensions (1 rows, 1 columns), you can filter using dimensions on pages. If that doesn't give you what you need then I'm afraid you need to stick to a different chart type.
    Hope this helps

  • Pie Chart doesn't display all columns

I set up a simply table and made a bar chart = everything worked out well.
I selected my table again and clicked on 'make pie chart' but this time it doesn't display all the colums. I really don't know what went wrong here.
I'd appreciate it very much if some could help me out here.

    patte,
Even though you have selected the entire table to be charted as a Pie Chart, and the table includes three data series, a Pie Chart can only display one series at a time, so it displays the first one; "3. Klasse"
In "3. Klasse", the values of Schaukel and Drehscheibe are zero, so there is no pie to display.
Hope this explains the situation for you. To make Pie Charts for the other two series, you would again select the header cells, then hold down the Command key while selecting the other series. Then add another chart. Do this for each series you wish to chart.

  • Crystal 2008 Pie Chart Labels

This is my first experience building a pie chart in Crystal. I usually try to avoid using them. I can't get the labels to arrange properly. I unchecked "Auto Arrange". That doesn't seem to help. When I refresh with new data the labels move (which I understand that must happen when the slices change shape). When I try to manually drag them to the center of the pie they often disappear. Even the option to center the label doesnt really center the label. Having the same issue with the values. Can anyone help? I'm close to switching to another chart type.

    Hi,
I'm not sure if you've already switched to another chart type already. If this is still an issue, could you let me know the exact version of CR (Help > About).
If the version is not SP3 (12.3.x.x), I would recommend that you upgrade to the latest Service Pack. Unchecking the Auto arrange option should work fine for the pie chart.

  • Pie Chart -- legend texts are cut (with "...")

    Hello Experts,
when I*m using pie charts with displaying the legend, longer texts are cut (e.g.: "220/35V  60W yellow...")
What can I do to show the complete text?
    Thanx a lot
    KR,
    Raimund

    Good Day Nics,
the cuts are due to the size of the pie chart. you can resize your pie chart for the legends to show properly.
Kindly tell me if im missing something.

  • Pie chart legend summary bug, weird text being printed

Hi guys, I created a simple report with a Pie Chart on VS2008 and on my computer the chart legend displays all items perfectly but when I deploy it on our web server the legend summary, which is always 100% doesn't say "Total" anymore but a weird text, have you seen this before? Here's a sample.
On my machine the chart legend is the following:
    ITEM1                                35.0%    63
    ITEM2                                38.3%    69
    ITEM3                                26.7%    48
      Total                                  100.0%  180
    On the server:
    ITEM1                                35.0%    63
    ITEM2                                38.3%    69
    ITEM3                                26.7%    48
    eTotal:1_n_pseudoloc_   100.0%  180

Have not seen this before, but do apply SP1 on your dev computer:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009351512008E/crbasic2008sp1.exe
    Recompile.
    And use SP1 runtime:

    See if that helps.

  • How do I remove drop shadows from the default text in the labels of a Numbers pie chart?

I set up a pie chart in Numbers and set labels for percentage.  The default text has drop shadowss.  They do print well at the scale needed for the page.  I cannot find out how to remove these shadows for clearer printing.  Can the shadows be removed?

Nevermind.  Found the answer in nthe side bar under "Re:how can I print the figures (text) in a chart WITHOUT a cast shadow.  I had the Font window set too narrow and it did not show the Text Shadow button in the tool bar.  Unclicking that worked.

  • Overlay a graphic on a Pie Chart, & Rotate text in a Pie Chart

Is it possible to overlay a graphic on a pie chart?
I've tried manipulating the Wrap Inspector, but regardless, when I paste a graphic on topic it drops below the pie chart and deletes one segment of the pie.
In a related pie chart question, is it possible to rotate the text to face into the central axis, think spokes in wheel (vs. the default horizontal). I can rotate the pie chart in about 3 dif. inspectors, but no luck here...and my texts is just a little too long to fit nicely in the default (and too hard to read if I reduce the font size).
    Thanks

I assume you want to have a graphic that sits over the chart, and that you see the values underneath? Something like a shine, worn texture or logo?
If you are wondering what happened to your particular 'missing slice' open the Graph inspector and select that section. Chances are you have changed the tiled image which was assigned to that particular piece of the pie chart.
To overlay a graphic, draw a circle shape. In the graphics inspector assign an image fill to that shape. Choose tiled or scale to fit as required (a png. file with transparencies will show the underlying values, as will setting the opacity of the circle)
Turn the wrap off for the circle (It sounds like your pie chart may be set to 'moves with text' instead of 'locked to page') And then place it overtop of the pie chart. Resize to fit. Since this is now 'locked to page' and above the pie chart, any movement of the pie chart means you will have to reorient your overlay. To avoid this, set the pie chart to Locked to Page as well.
At this point you can set the wrap for the pie chart so the text moves around it if you like. Your overlay and the pie chart will remain in sync if they are both fixed to page.
Regarding your text question, no. You can't set that. What you can do is use a numerical, letter or symbolic value and include a legend manually to indicate the true names of the portions using a text box.
(I've seen someone with a pie chart whose segments were labeled with seven words, the last two of which were the only ones that changed. I suggested using the unchanging portion as the graph title and the changing portion as the individual slices. Not sure if that would apply to your project.)

  • Pie chart with both text and value

    Hi,
I want the pie chart to contain both the text and value how is this possible when I look at the optiond for chart I was able to select only one thing at a time both not both the things at a time ,please let me know how is this possible
    Thanks
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
this should be possible. In the Chart Designer in the properties of the Categories you must edit the Format string to e.g. "$Label$br0.00" (show the label, make a line break, show the value with 2 decimals). For more info regarding the format string see note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1064448">1064448</a>.

  • Interactive Bar/pie chart and line graph, data from excel/text file -urgent

    Hi,
I have a huge data in excell sheet which keeps updating every month. Data basically consists of service provider and there respective subscribers from various regions of the country over the years. The requirement is to give the viewers an interactive page where in they can make various combinations and can compare, cross examine data according to thier choice.
We want the pie chart / bar graph or line graph to be created on the fly according to the combination made by the user.
The site is hosted on a red hat linux server. how can a connection to the excel spreadsheet be made or is it possible to read from the text file if the entire data is exported to a text file.
Is there any ready made tool/code available which can be customised according to the need.
    Thanx in advance
    Regards
    Prakash

I certainly wouldn't pay for the graphing package at the previous link. check out http://www.object-refinery.com/jfreechart/ for a free, open-source, much better looking graphing package.

  • Overlapping chart text

    Hello,
when you build a pie chart you can choose between different chart styles. Yet only 'Default' has lines between the values and the pie slices and no problems with overlapping text. Every other style puts the text directly to the slice. Imagine an output with
    Value Description
    98%   Success
    1%   Warning
1%   FailureThen the two 1% values are at the top and the text for each is unreadable, because 'Warning' overlapps with 'Failure'.

Yep, yours could be next.  You might want to check with your IT department and see if they have done anything to her computer. Something changed somewhere, and changed again between yesterday and today. Have them help you find out what.
(Our IT makes changes all the time and we don't know until a problem pops up. I had a good one a few months ago.)
Is it only when she is looking at the report on her monitor? Does it work if she prints it? if it does it may be a driver for her monitor. If it is only when she prints it, it may be a printer driver. If both fail, then both drivers could be a problem.
Try a different font and see if it makes a difference.
What about other reports. Are they messing up on her computer today?
You may want to create a new template/report and see if it works it works on her computer. If so, re-create all the reports on the new template. Not a pleasant thought, but it may be one way to resolve it.
Seems like I remember somebody posting a simular thread not too long ago where a report was not running correctly on someone elses computer.
This one was a dll problem but it is not the one I was thinking of: [Report runs fine on some workstations, won't refresh on others--WHY?   |Re: Report runs fine on some workstations, won't refresh on others--WHY?]

  • Top 10 Pie Chart in Webi 3.1 with "Others"

    Hi,
I need to implement a Pie Chart in Web Intelligence 3.1., which must show the sales values only for the Top 10 countries with the highest number of sales.
However there is an extra requirement: I must include the option "Others" including the other countries (from 11th to the last).
I've been searching but I have not found any solution. Does anyone know the way to achieve this requirement? Using a Pie Chart is mandatory.
    Thank you in advance!!

    Hi,
you may refer to the following links:

  • Pie Chart "Other" displays #multivalue

I am using Webi XIR2. I built a table that has two columns. First column is a variable with the following formula "=If(Rank([YTD Sales];[Product])<10;[Product];"Others") In ([Product])" qualification is Detail. Second column is YTD Sales. I then made it into a Pie Chart so that I can see Top 10 Products and Others display under "Others". This work at first until you refresh the report and then "Others" display as #multivalue. If I tweak the chart any it then switches back to "Others". If I have several charts they all do the same thing but I only need to tweak one chart and they all switch back.

Thanks a lot for your response. I have realized that the pie chart behaves that way, so I just use the filter to see the specific data that I want. Also, you can drag the row and drop it right at the first row to see the data in the pie chart.
