Pin 20 of SCXI-1166 DSub connector

Pin 20 of SCXI-1166 D-sub Connector is assigned as Ground. Does this ground connects to the SCXI Chassis?
Can I use this Pin 20 for signal wire shielding purposes?
rg
Naushad

Hi Naushad,
Pin 20 of the SCXI-1166 connects directly to the SCXI chassis ground.  You can use Pin 20 for signal wire shielding purposes.  Remember, the usual rule is to only ground one end of the shield.  If it is grounded at both ends then a difference in ground potential could cause a current flow through the shield and hence introduce noise.
Let me know if you have further questions!

  • What does pin 1 do on the docking connector? (iPod won't sync with AVIC-D3)

My wife's 5th Gen iPod stopped working with her AVIC-D3 header in her vehicle. I can connect other iPods of various generations and they work just fine.
This has gone back to Best Buy (its still under extended warranty) five (yes, 5) times and they never fix anything. They do come up with different reasons it doesn't qualify for the "lemon" clause in said warranty - but thats not your problem . So it came back from visit number five and they replaced the battery... nice of them but couldn't find anything else wrong. This time when we took it up there to say "still not working" (so return number six) they were much more accomodating (I just moved to a new city, so I was refreshed to see that customer service isn't entirely dead) and plugged it up to their display stereos and docks there at the Geek Squad station and it worked just fine. They didn't have an AVIC connected - these were all the "two line display" stereos. So in their eyes, its the header (which again, will sync with every other iPod in the world). I brought it home and started looking it over - the first pin in the output socket (pin 1 on the left with the white face up) was simply not there. So I took it back to Best Buy and they said that it was a ground wire and would not impact the player or the way it syncs up.
Depending on which pinout diagram I look at on the web, its either a ground or a firewire pin. While I can't see the ground doing much (but I'm by no means an expert), the firewire is a definate maybe.
So since Best Buy won't help, I thought I'd try to reverse engineer this thing. +If I can figure out if the missing pin is vital, then I can go back (again) and make a case for it.+ Can anyone confirm if this is a ground wire or a firewire pin thats missing (or something else)?
    A couple of quick facts:
    Its a 5th Generation iPod Video (30GB)
It powers up and charges via the USB cable on a PC and will play if connected to a desktop dock or two line car stereo
If connected, the D3 does not acknowledge it at all
It used to work with this header
While connected, there is no indication in the iPod display that it has external power and I can freely navigate the menus (it normally shows the Pioneer logo)
My iPod Classic works using the same cable with no problem
A friend's iPod 5.5 Generation works fine using the same cable
It is at the latest firmware
I reset it with no change
Any help is appreciated - thanks!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    1. Could you give some specific details of what does and doesn't happen when youy try to sync. Do you have Auto-syncing, or are you manually managing music?
    2. You don't need to enter these. Go into Settings > WiFi > and switch WiFi on. Then pick your SSID (network name) from the list that appears. Enter your WEP key/password or WPA password.
The router details etc should be filled in automatically.

  • SCXI-1166 SPDT GP Relay, how to program in NISE and Teststand

    Hi,
I have a SPDT GP relay and I wanted to know how the routes should be created.  For example, in NISE when you create a route you have two endpoints.  Endpoint1= Comx but what should Endpoint2=?.  Should it be:
    Endpoint2=ncx  or
    Endpoint2=nox
Lets say the route name is called "MyRoute".  If I chose my Endpoint2 to be "nox" then when I go into Teststand and use the "Switching tab" under Properties and say Connect "MyRoute" then the connection should be between "Comx->nox".  Now when I say Disconnect "MyRoute" will this cause the connection to be "Comx->ncx"?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Guy,
NISE communicates with switch devices through an IviSwtch-compliant drivers, based on the IviSwtch class specification.
This specification does not prescribe the behavior for form C relays - the only way to ensure that the normally-closed position is connected is to create two routes and call connect on the other one after calling disconnect on the first one. Complicated, but that's the only way to ensure the behavior across switches that may behave in different ways.

  • How to control instrument switch through PCI-6503 & 50-pin I/O connector

    Hi, everyone:
I have a problem in controlling an instrument switch which switch position between zero point and measuring point every five minutes during experiment. The hardware used is PCI-6503 card & corresponding 50-pin I/O connector, cable and the software is labview.
The instrument manufacturer provide a cable(25-pol.SubD-plug male)for connection to computer(or DAQ board). The instrument manual showed the following pin assignment for this cable:
    25-pol subD-male pin assignment(TTL-level):
    meaning zero point measuring point
    Pin 9 MP L H
    Pin 7 ZP H L
    Pin 23 Gnd
    Pin 18 Gnd
    Pin 4
    Remote H H
    Pin 3 Weight1 H L
    Pin 2 Weight2 L H
    Pin 5 Gnd
    (weight1&weight2 is for calibration purpose)
I want to connect these cable pins to Port A(pin 33-47) of I/O connector and then using labview easy digital I/O "write to a single port.vi" to programming it. But I don't know how to connect these pins. For example, pin-5,pin-23,pin-18 is Ground, how can I realize it ? Do I need to connect other pins in 25-pol sub-D plug(besides above 8-pins) male to 50-pinvI/O connector or just leave it alone? Hope everyone give me idea. Of course, the detail is preferred since I have a good background in electronic.
Also I will be very happy if everyone have a labview programming sample in similiar application.
Thank you very much for help!
    Sincerely
    Jingjun

    Hello;
My understanding is that you need to connect each one of the GND pins to each one of the GND pins of the DAQ board. By doing that you will be creating the reference to the TTL signals being read on the DAQ board. The MP and ZP would go to any digital line of the preferrable Port and you should be good to go. As far as I'm concerned, you don't need to make any extra connection.
I don't know exactly what you are willing to do with the data but, once the data changes each five minutes, you don't need any speed digital application. If you take a look at the Labview shipping examples for 6503 doing read from 1 Digital Port.vi, you should be ok.
    Hope this helps.

  • Pin Connector Problem - BEWARE!

    Hi All,
I've been using my beloved iPhone 2G for about 18 months now without a hitch (well, except for firmware 2.1) but today catastrophe hit. I'll type this here in hopes of saving someone else this issue.
I made the mistake of sticking my phone on the iHome clock radio I have in my bedroom. I've done this before without issue other than the speaker noise from the phone interference.
This time, however, I saw the screen start flashing and I smelled something not good for electronics. I ripped it off and everything recovered, seeming to work except for one small glitch. The external speaker crackled whenever the screen blanked itself.
After all this, the phone refused to restore both on my MBP and at the Apple Store Genius bar.
After I came home resigned to buying a 3G I started poking around and found that the first pin on the left of the connector had the copper pin all bent up and pushed to the back of the connector slot. Two other pins were lifted and a little shifted.
My point is that I've really been cavalier about connecting my phone to car chargers, the dock, the clock radio etc. I guess over the year and a half the pins slowly lifted and finally snagged and shorted stuff.
Has anyone every seen this? Should I expect the same thing on the 3G.
    Thanks..goose

I have owned two iPods and on iPhone 3G and never had this problem, however I've only ever used the provided cables to connect them.
Are you sure that you aren't docking the iPhone at an angle or inserting the cable at an angle? This could be one reason why the pins were bent.

  • How do I use the counter and digital signals of the 6071E while it is connected to SCXI modules?

I am contemplating using a PCI 6071E with SCXI. We have the boards (6071E), we would need the cable (I suppose SH1006868) and the SCXI system. I would like to know how would you access the counter and digital line capabilities of the board. I will be using a SCXI-1314 with a SCXI-1520 Module for strain measurements but will need to use the counter and digital lines of the board as well. Can this be done? If so, how and/or what else do I need?

  • Vga cable: 14 vs 15 pin

I recently bought VGA splitter, that's 14 pin. My VGA cable is 15 pin.
After connecting the Cable to the splitter the monitor resolution goes down, then if the VGA cable is directly connected to the PC vga adapter.
So, I looked online to see diffrence between the 14 and 15 pin VGA. I could not find much information, but few blogs. They say 1 or 2 pins are obsolute, so there is no diffrence between 14 and 15 pin cable.
Then, I boght a 14 pin VGA cable to try. But it don't give the high resolution as 15 pin cable. It's same low resolution picture as 15 pin cable with splitter attached.
So is it right that 14 and 15 pin VGA cables are same, and if that's right do I need and display setting changed?
Connecting 14 pin cable don't even  give the resolution option as 15  pin cable give in Display settings. There is only 3 option.

I have seen this problem and question in various forms many times, and have never seen the correct answer given. So here is the answer. Please spread it around, since many people seem to have the problem:
VGA 15 pin cables often have only 14 active pins. Pin 9 is missing. (This missing pin is on the middle row of pins, one pin from the end.) This missing pin is a problem for flat screen TVs.
Pin 9 is required by most, if not all, plasma and lcd TV's to supply back to the computer graphics card information about the available resolution of the monitor. Pin 9 carries a 5 volt signal to the DDC (display data channel). New computer monitors (LCD or CRT) do not seem to need this pin, and work fine without it -- as a result the majority of VGA cables labeled as "15 pin" really only have 14 pins, and this is never explained or noted in the packaging or product specifications! The only way to tell if a "15 pin" VGA cable actually has all 15 pins is to look at the connector and count the pins. If the middle row has only 4 pins, then the critical pin 9 is missing.
From the posts I have seen -- and from my own experience with my 50" Pioneer PDP-5070HD plasma TV -- nearly all flat screen TV's DO NEED this pin to return information about the native screen resolution.
I have seen dozens of posts by people trying to set up their HTPC's to work with their big screen plasma, but not being able to set the resolution (usually 1360 x 768) on their video adapter card. Some people on the forums argue they had "no problem" while others cannot make it work. People blame the video card or video card drivers. No one seems to figure out the problem is a missing pin on the supposedly standard "15 pin VGA cable" many people are using!
I had the same problem with my ATI 9800 Pro graphics card using a 15 pin VGA cable with only 14 pins. When I changed to a full and true 15 pin cable, the ATI 9800 immediately sensed the native resolution of the plasma TV.
So the difference between a 15 pin and a 14 pin VGA cable is not "just one pin", as one sarcastic idiot answered to a previous post of this question. The absence of the pin 9 signal (5 volt to the DDC) means your your very expensive plasma or LCD TV cannot notify your computer graphics card about its supported resolution. Get a VGA cable with all 15 pins, and your problem may be resolved. But you will have to search to find one by visually examining the plug. Remember, all the VGA cables are labeled and sold as "15 pin VGA cable" even if they actually have only 14 pins. Check it out.
(BTW, there is a reason to leave the 5 volt signal off the cable when it is not needed. However, for LCD and Plasma TV's, it is needed.)

  • How to control parallel pins I/O thru USB converter

Few years back I developed a 5.1 Labview program and a 3 axis stepper motor control system. It used the parallel port on the PC for communications. The last several laptop PCs I purchased have no parallel ports, at all. So I bought some Manhattan (336581) USB to parallel convert cables. I'm attempting to use NI-VISA 3.0 to control the USB converter therefore a parallel port. I'm having some trouble finding the correct VendorID, ProductId, ManufactName, and Model Name. I did manage to create a .inf and then .pnf files from info I received but Measurement&Automation Explorer doesn't find any Usb devices, much less the one I should have created. Once I do find the device, how do I control the IEEE-1284 pins at the 25 sub-d connector? I have the block diagram of USBTMC.vi but I'm confused as how to use output and input similar to the way I used to use "outport" and "inport"in 5.1 etc. Any suggestions how to control parallel I/O using a USB to Parallel converter. Thanks Robert

hi steve, i also facing the problem when using the USB to parallel port  to control output. before this i direct use the parallel port (PC) to control, now im adding a usb to parallel port to control the output (LAPTOP). it is using the device that u recommeded can solve the problem ? what is the function node that used in labview ? thanks. sheng

  • TBX-68 and PCI-7344 Digital I/O Connector

Is it possible to use this combination and what shielded cables are recommended?

The TBX-68 uses the same 68-pin .050 Series D-type female connector as the UMI-7764.  So any of the NI SH68-C68-S cables will connect to the TBX-68 and the 68-pin VHDCI offset male connector on the 7344.  The NI recommended cable is the 0.5m listed under part number 186380-0R5.

  • Difficulty seating atx 24 pin & atx 12v on eclipse

I ran into a bit of a snag while connecting the atx 24 pin and the atx 12v power connectors to my eclipse mobo. They dont seem to want to seat properly. Im using a corsair 750 watt power supply and I cant detect any defects in the male and female parts. Im afraid if I push any harder im gonna crack the mobo. Has anyone else experienced this as well? I had to RMA the board already because of that damn d-led 2 not working and the no posting crap everyone seems to be dealing with. You would think if your throwing down 350 bucks the least MSI could do is check their product before they ship it.

Thanks for the input. Since my mobo's  on R.M.A. it makes me feel better knowing other folks have a grasp on this problem. Hopefully When my board comes back it will actually start up instead of just light up. I kinda jumped the gun as far as sentencing my mobo to R.M.A. status. Ive had several videocards from MSI that haven't had a problem so this really shakes my confidence in the company when I spend close to $400 dollars for a board that won't start.
I have faith that MSI will honor its components. I hope they don't prove me wrong.

  • Pin-Outs for JP1-1 on Audigy (SB00

I have a antec case, which has front panel sound/mic and firewire connectors.
I have managed to wire up the firewire connector to the onboard 394 interface, but I need to now wire up the front mic/sound connectors for my headset as my bluetooth one doesn't work as an audio gateway, and cable for headset is not long enough to go to back of pc.
Does anyone know what the pinouts are for jp-, as I think these are the pinouts I need to use, they are part of the Ext2 pins which are jp-2.
Ideally I want to use my audigy so don't have to enable the onboard soundcard, but if I do need to enable onboard sound then will they work in tandem with each other without any problems, or will I have a lot of messing about to do.
I would appreciate any advice on this - thanks

What you think and reality are not always same thing. As you could find on this forum, or CreativeFAQ, or Google, that connector is carrying only digital signals, nothing analogic.
Look on Solution ID #3026, click on "Internal Connections" and then on "AUD EXT" and you will see those pins (there are no 2 separate connectors, the pins # 29,30 are just missing):
