Pin Releasing?

I have a problem with my Blackberry 8310. I bought the phone from CEX last week and it was locked to Vodafone, i then took it to Vodafone who unlocked it for me. I have now put in my o2 sim and can operate the phone fine (Calls, SMS, Internet, etc.) apart from setting up an email account. When i enter the IMEI and PIN i get the message:
"Cannot create account: An account already exists for this Blackberry device. Please log in or contact o2mailuk"
How do i deal with this? Something to do with pin releasing?

vodafone... it is a bis account attached to vodafone... it is or was a customer of vodafone... they have that record somewhere... they need to find that customer and ask them if they got rid of the phone legally and can they officially remove the account. Then they can remove the account. there are only 2 ppl that can do this... original owner or vodafone

  • BB Pin Release Problems!

Hi I have a Blackberry 8310 and posted on these forums a while back about pin release. Anyways I've been busy and went into Cex today to get them to contact the previous owner in order for the pin to be released. So they contacted the previous owner and he said he hadn't setup email on it, and that he bought the phone from Cex as well. So there was someone before him that must have setup email. The phone was locked to Vodafone but now I have unlocked it and have an o2 sim. Is there anyway i can get the pin released by contacting Blackberry directly? What available solutions are there to my problem?

return the phone to whom you bought it and tel them to give you a properly unlocked device

  • Blackberry Pin release problem from Emitac Mobile Solutions LLP

I just bought an old blackberry phone.
    Curve 9360
    PIN: {REMOVED}
    IMEI: {REMOVED}
I want to use the BIS service but the operator just told me that the
PIN is already registered at some different operator and you have to
    release the pin from there.
The carrier is Emitac Mobile Solutions LLP.
    Please suggest.
Mod Edit: Edited post to remove personal information to comply with the Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions of Use

You have two possibilities so far as I know.....
Track down last owner, or the owner that had the BIS, have the individual contact the carrier (not yours, the other carrier) and do whatever it takes to get the PIN released.
Figure out the other carrier.  Explain the situation.  Ask for help.
It's a tall order.  I think hope is slim, but who knows.
If the device instead is actually blocked because it was reported stolen at some point, or someone walked out on finishing payments, you have no hope.

  • Pin release help!!

Hi guys does my pin will be automatically released upon changing device in the BIS?
i already change my Device does my previous pin is now released?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Actually, no it doesn't!  You have to contact your carrier and let them know you've changed devices.  If you got your new device from them, they may have already done that, but if you don't and sell your BlackBerry, when the next person activates your BlackBerry, they could get your email (if you don't use the same BIS account for your new device).  Although I do believe activating a new PIN on the same BIS account that you had the old device on may deactivate it, it's worth making sure!
My wife purchased a BlackBerry from a co-worker who had purchased it from someone else.  When she activated it, she started geting the original owner's email.  She had to contact him and convince him that she was receiving his email before he called his original carrier and released the PIN!
And don't forget to wipe the device before selling it. 1 Go to Options --> Security Options --> General Settings, Click the [Menu] button (button to the LEFT of the trackball) or Scroll Wheel and select Wipe Handheld.  Click [Continue] on the warning message, then enter the word blackberry (as directed) and hit [Enter].

  • Can not release pin

hi everyone, few days ago, i just bought a second hand bb 8100. When i tried to register the pin and imei, it said that it already registered with another provider. When i tried to contact the seller, i can not contact him again. So now i am confused how do i get my blackberry pin released.
    Can somebody help me please?
    Can RIM release the pin?

You can try contacting your carrier and explaining the situation to them, but usually a PIN can only be released by the person that originally registered it.  If you're lucky and the previous owner was on the same carrier, this might work.  If you know who the previous carrier was, you may be able to contact them to release it.  When the BlackBerry boots up, such as when you remove and replace the battery, the original carrier's information (logo) should appear just before the "verifying security software" happens.  This can not be changed and is permanently burned into the ROM, so that's how you'd know who the ORIGINAL owner's carrier was.
If the original owner forgot to unregister the PIN, you may be receiving their email too (BIS Email is delivered by PIN even without the email's service books being installed).  If you're receiving emails addressed to someone else, that's the previous owner.

  • Releasing Blackberry Pin

    Hi,
I have been trying all week to no avail to get my Blackberry PIN released from the Verizon network, to use with a foreign sim & BIS service. The phone is unlocked but it seems the PIN is locked to a BES service thru a Verizon retailer. I have reached out to Verizon Tech Support & RIM Tech Support & am just getting the run around. Can anyone guide me in the right direction to get help with this? The last Verizon Tech rep I spoke to told me that RIM could assist once I had the SRP code & Subscription code for the original BES. I can not get that & have not found a way around it. If i can get the PIN released from Verizon, I would even consider hooking the phone up with Verizon again once I am back in the USA. Anyone that has any idea on how to go about getting this done for a 9550 Storm, I would really appreciate it. I am trying to hook it up on the Digicel Cayman network while I am here on a job. I have tried everything possible including doing a factory reset & no luck. I still can not get the service books sent or register with the BIS service properly because of the PIN being locked to a Verizon BES network. The phone was purchased thru eBay, after it was purchased from a Verizon retailer (where it was a display phone).
    Thanks in advance,

I was able to get certain information from Verizon Tech support, but then the support stopped. Does anyone have an email address for Verizon Blackberry Tech Support?

  • My Pin is locked and it's being used by someone else!

    Hi,
I'm from Venezuela and I bought my Blackberry Curve 8320 through Amazon last week.
When I was trying to activate my BB services here in Venezuela they found out that the pin is being used by someone else in USA with TMobile. How can this be possible?
I called TMobile and they are not able to do anything.
Who can help me to release my pin so I can use it here in Venezuela?

did you buy the device at Amazon or at Amazon MarketPlace? I think you bought a used phone at the MarketPlace. You have to contact the seller and tell them to call T-Mobile to have the PIN released.

  • Im in serious need of help ??..

I recently bought an old 2nd hand blackberry 8707g off ebay as i needed a cheap little phone were i could use internet and send recieve emails ect. but as im trying to set it up on 02email.co.uk, it say i cant register it cause the pin and imei is already registered obviously with who ever had the phone previous to me. i have contacted o2 who have told me there is nothing they can do i need to contact blackberry. which is impossible i cant find a contact number any were . ii have also contact AT&T and they just sounded clueless and took my number in order to phone me back ( needless to say they havnt) it just feels like because i havnt got the money to go out and buy a brand new blackberry handset i wont be able to enjoy the apps, browser,on the go email which is the whole reason you buy a blackberry if knows of a way i could maybe fix this i would be very grateful or have i just got no chance ????? thanks kane

There's no need to resort to junior high language, I'm trying to help you and I really don't care for the immature foul words.
IF you would call Tmobile AGAIN, and this time ask the correct question: "I need to get the PIN released from a previous account. I bought the device used. I ONLY want the PIN released, not to have the device unlocked." Be nice, if you curse at them and get crazy, I doubt they will help you, as they don't have to do this for you, but only for the previous owner. They can though, I have seen it occur thousands of times.
DO YOU want to get the device UNLOCKED for use on another carrier? If so, the Tmobile rep apparently thinks you want an unlock code and from what you described in your first post, that is not what you want. If you do want it unlocked from Tmobile, then the CSR rep gave you the correct advice and for a free unlock code that is their requirements.
Is your device unlocked for use on any carrier?
To determine if your BlackBerry is "unlocked" for use on carriers other than for which it is branded:
    1. On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.
    2. At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.
    * If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx and 81xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.
    3. Look for Network in the list.
    4. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.

  • Help Me ! BB Curve 8310

Hello people of the forum, I will tell you my case:
My uncle gave me a blackberry curve 8310 five months ago, only used it to call and receive messages.
But the BlackBerry is in USA (AT & T) and my uncle brought him to my country (Peru) Now, I want to register the phone, which was in (att.blackberry.com) to (claroperu.blackberry.com) but when I want to register (claroperu.blackberry.com) I get error and I can not do anything, I'm told is the Pin But it's complicated
    Help me please
    Thank's

Whoever owned the phone before you (I think your uncle) needs to contact AT&T and have the PIN released from his account. Then you can set it up with your carrier.

  • Config my e-mail acount and upgrade my BB to O.S 5.0

Good evening. My question is this: I bought a BlackBerry Curve 8900 through Ebay about 2 months and still can not do the software upgrade and configure my account email msn. Once my equipment came from Germany and was linked to T-Mobile, I asked the person who sold me the equipment to remove the contract that had to with T-Mobile, which he said he did not understand my question and that had no contract with T-Mobile. Question: why can not I configure my email account and always continues to appear (Enterprise Activation). And why not use some applications that are available but do not work because the equipment is not parameterized for use with my network. Taking some of these questions, I am very pleased with the equipment, apart from the fact that 2g .. Please someone help me, I'm getting a little desperate .. Thank you.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider? You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more. So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
The previous user might have not had his PIN released from his previous account. This will keep you from being able to register the device now on another carrier.

  • New BB email account?

Since you guys have been so useful......here's another question I have.
I tried to issue a BB email account but the phone states: An account already exists for this PIN.  Please try again.
The phone is a second hand phone, how do I get around this?  If I call BB can they reset this?  Or does the original owner need to do something?
    Thanks once again!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can try using the Request Password using your PIN.  The password will be sent to you as a PIN message.
This typically happens when a device is aquired second hand, and the original owner didn't "release" the PIN.  If you can't get into the account, you can try contacting your Carrier to get the PIN released, but typically this can only be done by the orifinal owner.
    Good luck!

Please can anyone advise me how I can delete unwanted Apps on a Pearl 8120 and also, how can I stop receiving messages from the Apps I do want to keep like Ebay for instance?  Thanks

That's because you went too far. Option 2 in the KB I linked first discusses how, on the BB itself, to remove apps. Going into the App is not part of that method.
    LegalVA wrote:
Also, this is a pre-owned phone from Orange
Uh oh...this could now get much more complicated. Here's another KB:
KB05099Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone
If the prior owner did not complete all of the steps in the seller section, then it has happened in the past where the new owner can never use BB services at all. I would advise you contact them and have them conduct all of their steps, most especially having the BB PIN released from their BIS account with their carrier...until that is released, you will never be able to configure your own email accounts.
Once they have done their steps and the PIN is released, you should do your steps.
    LegalVA wrote:
I want to delete the apps supplied to me by Orange like twitter etc as I don't use them anyway
If the apps are installed, you already have the instructions to remove them. If the apps are not installed yet there is an icon, then it is likely a shortcut "teaser" pushed to you. You cannot really get rid of those. Rather, what I do is to create a homescreen folder called "Spare Icons" (some call it "Junk") and move all of such icons there. That way, they are out of my way.
    LegalVA wrote:
and I don't want to keep receiving Facebook messages as I don't use it that much that I want to be connected to it by my phone.
What? I don't quite understand that sentence. If you don't want FB installed, then see above. If you want it installed but don't want the messages, then go into the Options within FB and there is a setting there to integrate with the BB Messages app...uncheck that. If it's the notifications, then I've already told you how to stop those.
    LegalVA wrote:
Same with Ebay which I do use a lot, but I don't want to keep receiving messages telling me that my watched items are coming to an end.
I thought I already answered that question...unless something about my prior answer didn't work, asking again is just wasting everyone's time, isn't?
    Good luck!

  • BIS Account Suspended - Reason 114

    Hi,
Just picked up a 8100 Pearl on Ebay and when I tried to set up the BIS account it indicated it was suspended. (confirmed that the phone is unlocked).  I contacted Rogers (my carrier) and worked with one of their techs to unlock the account, but he discovered that the PIN was locked by RIM and Suspended from BIS Data Services for reason "114 Security Issues".  Anyone have this happen, know what that reason code is and how to resolve it?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While I don't know the description of that code, I have a suspicion...BB get not only locked to carriers (which you've unlocked) but the PIN also gets locked to a BIS account (hosted at the carrier). And a new carrier cannot create a new BIS account as long as the old carrier has it locked to their BIS. And typically only the old owner can convince their old carrier to release the PIN from that BIS. Which leaves purchasers of used devices often in a tough situation...you would need to contact the prior owner and convince them to call their carrier and have the PIN released from BIS.
Or, it could be something even worse...like a stolen device...in which case there is no resolution path.
But -- Rogers should answer this for you...they have the ability to escalate into RIM for no fee.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry 9300 BIS problem

    HI,
I need help. I'm a blackberry user, and now i decided to change my bb 8520 to one 9300... I buy this 9300 used in internet, and the mobile phone is unblocked by original.
Now i contact my internet provider to activate my BIS service in new mobile phone, and the service didn't work. My provider saied that service is ativate, however i can access.. After various contacts, the technical support suggest me to contact the older provider in order to release the pin your software.
Once the mobile phone was buy used, and i already contact the previous owner and he don't know what is the provider, what i can do to resolve the problem...
I'm need this service.. The phone without BIS is "brick".
    Best Regards

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You are in a difficult situation...buying a used BB is often complicated. From what you say your carrier told you, the prior carrier that held this specific BB PIN in their BIS system has not released it. And, only that carrier can release it...no one else can, not even BlackBerry. Further, many carriers only accept requests for BIS PIN release from their actual account holder...which definitely was not you, and it sounds like it was not even the person who sold it to you. So you have a very big challenge indeed...and it is likely not solvable.
What I would do, if I were you, is review the terms of my purchase of the device. If it was represented by the seller as being able to be fully functional on any compatible carrier, then I would challenge the seller and demand return/refund...the device is indeed not usable, since the BB PIN remains locked to some carrier somewhere (and you have no way to find out which carrier, and even if you could find out they likely will refuse your request to release since you are not their account holder).
    Good luck!

  • Inability to add a mailbox through BIS

My mother gifted me her BB Torch 9800 which is great!
Unfortunately, her BIS email box was set up where she lives (in Italy). I currently reside in Belgium.
I therefore cannot add a BIS mailbox through MOBISTAR (Belgium) because I get a message that the pin of the device is already in use with WIND Italia (in other words, the previous provider).
I contacted WIND but I was told to contact BB to unlock my device because they can't do this themselves.
Does anyone have any ideas how this can be resolved?
    Thanks.

Your mother needs to contact WIND who can have the pin released.
