PINCH no longer works in FINDER with Magic Trackpad when resizing icons such as photos. Help.

I am a photographer and I find it VERY convenient to be able to use my Trackpad to PINCH resize icons of photos for quick review. This no longer works in LION. This needs to be restored or can someone tell me how to restore the setting. Thanks
- Shane

Not the same symptoms, but I noticed that after a few days of running great, odd things started happening on my iMac. The first thing was that when I would boot the Mac up for the first time in the morning, it would boot into single user mode. I have the Apple Bluetooth keyboard, so I know there's no way keys are being held down.
The other symptom was that Microsoft Outlook 2011 would hang on launch. It would get stuck on the "Setting Up Identities..." phase. Rebuilding the Outlook database would help until the next time I shut the iMac down.
Also a couple of times it got to the Desktop after a boot, but not everything was working correctly and some startup items didn't load.
The iMac also kept booting into single user mode on the first boot.
I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion, and I thought that fixed both problems, until the next morning. Now I just don't shut the Mac down. I can close Outlook, and it launches in a couple of seconds.
So it would appear that something is becoming corrupt when OS X is shut down. If I don't shut it down, it's fine.

  • Fine-grained control with Magic Trackpad?

One thing I find difficult with the Magic Trackpad is making very small adjustments to slider controls in apps such as image and audio editors. I'm referring to the sort of sliders that are sensitive to mouse scroll wheels.
Aside from keeping a mouse connected to operate these controls, or going back and forth to System Preferences to change the tracking speed, are there any ways to do this more easily with a trackpad? For example, a utility that lets you switch to fine-grained movement with the trackpad when you hold down a certain key?

you do not invalidate the session, but the session object is
unavailable only on that page. That is my understanding of how this works.
In effect it removes the implicit call to request.getSession(true) that every jsp makes to populate the variable "session"
If I use the <c:url> tag on page 2 using a cookieless browser the link
is still encoded with the session? Sorry, don't know that one.
The <url> tag will still call response.encodeURL() of course.
I'm not sure if it would pick up the presence of the sessionid or not though.
The session is definitely still there.
The cookie (if present) is obviously still there.
The sessionId is sent as part of the request.
Theoretically it SHOULD pick it up and encode it still if present. I've never tried it myself though.
    Good luck,

  • Back functionality in Safari broken with 9.1 with Magic Trackpad?

Mavericks 10.9.1 update appears to have broken the use of Safari 'back' gesture, but only for standalone Magic Trackpad users? Trying to swipe with two fingers from left to right to go back simply moves the front browser pane a few mm's then stops. You can no longer interact with the page, and have to either close and reopen safari, or pop open the MBP and use the onboard trackpad, in which case you can continue the gesture through to completion, then go back to using the standalone trackpad. It's as tho with Magic Trackpad it gets stuck just after the gesture/back animation begins.
Anyone else seeing this or just me?

    1. From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Test.
    2. There are reports that this problem can be solved by simply restarting, or by resetting the PRAM.

  • Does logic recognize gestures? Replace mouse with magic trackpad?

Can you replace your mouse with a trackpad?  I use the wheel for zooming does logic recognize gestures?

I replaced my mouse with the Magic Trackpad when it came out and use it then on my office iMac and my Logic machine. I never looked back.
You can use the gestures to scroll and zoom in Logic and pretty much everthing else.
If you want to take the Trackpad and your customize workflow to the next level, get the BTT (Better Touch Tool) app. You can customize pretty much everything with any finger-touch-combination you can imagine.
    Hope that helps

  • When using Safari I am unable to scroll with the trackpad when on a PDF browser plugin page.

I can't scroll with the trackpad when I have a PDF open in Safari, I have to go use the scrollbar. Is there a way to fix this?

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

I have iPhoto 11 with Lion and when I try to post photos into MobileMe in Share I get the message that iPhoto is not connected to internet. Can anyone tell me how to connect iPhoto to internet?

My solution, which is not much, is to restart iPhoto and it then connects to the Internet. This has been an ongoing unsolved problem.

Can I migrate from mavericks to mavericks server. Have tried using a hard drive but the but the sever does not find the migration backup when it's searches. Any help out there?

Is the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead?  (The original source of your data)  If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it.  It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.
    Ciao.

The Magic trackpad is great. Finally I have something like the old trackballs I had to abandon to be able to scroll etc.
However I can't get the right click to work even though I have the secondary click checked in the trackpad preferences.
Any ideas how to get it to work?
Also, a real bummer is I had selected tap to click and went on a trip. My old MBP (pre unibody) with a trackpad and a button below it, doesn't have a "tap to click" option in the preference pane once the Magic Trackpad is no longer connected, so I couldn't disable it until I got home. Bad!

    Bump!
I have basically the same problem with my magic trackpad. I bought it to get the new features, but with no secondary click it's pretty much useless.
I have the options set for secondary tap. Which I assume is just like the regular trackpad. Two fingers and click - Context menu. But I just get a regular primary click. I hate to think that i wasted $70. Can anyone help with this? Please.
Just a side note: My tap-to-click and secondary bottom right click also don't work. Do I have a malfunctioning trackpad?

  • I updated my Firefox to 5.0 and now my Kaspersky Password plug-in no longer works. Spoke with them and they do not have a compatible update yet, so I want to go back to Firefox 4.0. How do I do that?

I love the Kaspersky Pure Password program and us it constantly! After updating my Firefox browser from 4.0 to 5.0... I found that the plug-in for my password program no longer worked!
I emailed them and they do not have an update yet that is compatible with Firefox 5.0....
So I need to go back to 4.0 till Kaspersky has an update because I am lost without my password program!
    Please help me.

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Firefox 3.6.18 would be the safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

  • Links no longer working in PDF with Pages 5

I have links in my Pages 5 document that work in Pages but no longer work in the PDF. They did when this was a Pages 09 file. In Pages 5 I can edit the, test them and everything is fine. Links are useless unless they can be part of the final deocument. Does anyone else have this issue and a work around? I am on Mavericks.

This is just one of over 90 features Apple has removed from Pages 5.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • HT201178 I have a Mac mini with Magic Trackpad and wireless keyboard. The keyboard and track pad got wet so I have purchased new ones. Problem is how do I get past the log in screen to set up the pairing of the devices? The old ones do not work

How do I get past the login screen to pair my new wireless keyboard and trackpad when the old ones are water damaged and don't work

Have you tried pulling the batteries out of the damaged ones so that they are completely off; then shutdown your Mac Mini via the power button on the back right. Turn on your new keyboard and trackpad then power your Mini back up? The auto detection should find your new keyboard and trackpad.

  • Problem with Magic TrackPad and Macbook Pro

I just bought the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic TrackPad for my home desktop setup. I connect my Macbook Pro 13" (from august 2010) to a Dell U2410 screen.
Everything works perfectly for a while, but then the cursor starts jumping around on the screen when I use the Magic TrackPad. Now here comes the weird thing, if I open the lid on the Macbook just a few inches the jumping stops completely and the Magic TrackPad works perfectly again.
I have tried googling a bit and browsed these forums also - no luck finding a solution.
I have also tried connecting a USB mouse to the Macbook when the cursor started to jump around - no problem with the USB mouse. I have also tried a different Magic TrackPad that my friend also just have bought for his setup - same problem after a short time.
Everything is updated to the latest software and firmware.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have the same problem with a Trackpad paired with a new Mac Mini just purchased in September. After a while, my trackpad also starts to exhibit behavior similar to those described by Hecro. The trackpad cursor feels frozen, or else it jumps around, often trying to stay away from or jump over any hyperlink in either text or graphic form on the page I am viewing.
I find that if I pick up the trackpad and hold it above my palm between my thumb on one side and my fingers on the other side — so there is no pressure on the clicking feet on the bottom of the trackpad — a "jumping" trackpad instantly becomes a "stable" trackpad. Put it back down on a surface and it starts jumping again.
Also, when it starts jumping or skipping, I also find that if I use one finger and bear down hard on the trackpad, it resumes being responsive.

  • Problem editing Word docs with Magic Trackpad

Hi--I'm a playwright working in Word. I recently purchased a magic trackpad. I'm having a tough time selecting text for cutting, copying, etc. I'll want to select a word or two but wind up getting the whole paragraph, an incomplete chunk, or nothing it all. It's frustrating because I'm used to moving fast. How can I make it behave like the good trackpad in my MacBook Pro? And where can I get a good explaination of the I-beam cursor. Different parts of it seem to do different things.

  • Updating BootCamp for use with Magic Trackpad

I am getting an error message when I try to update from BootCamp 3.0 to 3.1 which I need to be able to run the Magic TrackPad. I am running WinXP and have tried to run the BC3.1 32 bit update but get a message that the "Apple Bootcamp Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have tried downloading and running the update as well as running it off the Support site. The Trackpad works but I can't right click and have no gestures.

Note I do not own magic jack but it looks like a standard ATA voip adapter.
How is the TC setup in the network? ie is it bridged or main router.. Is there another router?
Being a non-apple product you will do better sticking with SMB compliant network names.. ie short no special characters no spaces.. Apple by default break these rules.
Also you may have port forwarding issues.. apple do not use upnp most windows and non-apple products will expect and so you might have to open the required ports not just for sip but the actual call RDP packets.
Even if you do open ports apple routers often break port forwarding. You might find it is easier to use a modem router or alternative standard router and bridge the TC.
Look at posts that deal with issues which will be common with airport extreme.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3662236?start=0&tstart=0
I would say it is not working because you have not forwarded the required ports.. or it just doesn't like Apple routers.. plugged into the Mac, the networking is handled by the Mac.. and is able to auto open ports.. non-apple products cannot generally do that.
