Pinch to Zoom in on email

Why would they remove the ability for the page to re wrap the text when zooming in to read email.  It does word wrap text inthe browser, it realigns it when zooming in so you don't scroll back and forth, just up and down.

Hello,
Since you've received no answer at all since posting, I will provide what I can...which, sadly, won't be much.
Unfortunately, the actual question ("why") is impossible to authoritatively answer here. Only theories and suppositions, but the true answer can only be known by those covered by NDA or other restrictive covenants, preventing them from answering in this public forum.
Then again, I can't tell exactly your situation...you posted this in the BB10 section, but you list on your profile a 9800 as your device. Those are in conflict with each other, so it's difficult to provide you any theories without knowing what platform you are actually asking about.
If your question has to do with BB10, then my suspicion is that they actually did not "remove" anything at all. You see, BB10 is a totally new OS...it is not an evolution from BBOS at all. Hence, nothing about what existed before can be considered for BB10. We all wish that, as part of the design criteria for BB10, they would have included some of the things that existed in BBOS, but as I understand it the process was not one of taking BBOS and trying to make BB10. Rather, it was inventing BB10 from the ground up. Consequently, there are many who "miss" things from the past, and many "lists" exists for what would be desired for the future of BB10.
On the other hand, if your question has to do with BBOS, then please state so and we'll have the discussion moved to the proper location in this site.
Good luck!

  • Pinch and zoom on HTML5 content

Is there a way to pinch and zoom on HTML5 content in a mobile web browser? I published my course as scaleable content, so it fits my phone's screen, but it's small and I'd like to be able to zoom in to parts of the screenshots.

    To clarify:
You CANNOT pinch and zoom on the mail menus or the mail messages list. You CAN pinch and zoom if an email message is open on the email text itself just as you would on a Safari website page.
This is true for both the iPhone and iPad.

  • Pinch and zoom on angry birds

Does anyone know if pinch and zoom is supposed to be available with the free version of angry birds? Also is it available with the paid version? Thanks and hope to hear from someone soon!!

  • Is there a way to change the pinch-to-zoom feature?

Is there a way to change the behavior of pinch-to-zoom in Safari 5.1.4 on Lion?  It seems to have adopted the iOS zoom (where it's a zoom into an area on the page) and I would prefer that it emulated a Command-+ type of page zoom.  When using pinch-to-zoom in a site like Gmail or Google Reader, the content ends up requiring horizontal scrolling if you pinch-to-zoom... while Command-+ increases the size of everything but keeps it within a single screen.
Can this be done?  Is there the equivalent of the about:config page from Firefox?
Apple... can you fix this (or offer an option to determine how pinch-to-zoom works in Safari)?!?!
    Thanks!
    - John

    Thanks for your response.
I have searched for a solution to change the order of my tags and haven't found it.
I add multiple tags to my emails and the color at a glance means something to me - if I add an earlier, more up the priority ladder it shows that color instead of the one that I want. I'm rambling but the fact remains that I would like to be able to change the tag priority.
    Have a great one!

  • Remote Desktop - Pinch and Zoom compatibility with Microsoft Access

Hi guys, not sure which forum to place this into but here we go.
We use Windows 8.1 tablets and RDP to a 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Server, we can pinch and zoom with Office 2007 Excel, Word without issues.
I would like to know if there is a list of programs that's compatible with pinch and zoom because it looks to me like Microsoft Access (2007 version) isn't compatible with pinch and zoom but I need proof for my IT manager.
Can you tell me if I should be able to pinch and zoom a database windows within MS Access?

    Hi,
As per my research there is no such description whether which program compatible with pinch and zoom but still as this seems more relate to tablet question. You can ask your comment over there for more perfect answering.

  • EPub format and pinch-and-zoom

    Hello all,
I'm curious if someone can tell me whether the pinch-and-zoom capability seen on the IPad is a function of the hardware, or is it something that needs to be dealt with in advance in the ePub document?
I wouldn't mind having images that a reader could zoom in on and that would be nice and sharp at some high-level zoom, but don't know if, or how, I can ensure that my book images will be sharp throughout. Any ideas or info will be appreciated.
    -T

I think it's hardware function. Email yourself a PDF or newsletter and go to an apple store and check your mail.

  • Pinch and Zoom PDFs for phones and tablets

    Hi,
I can pinch and zoom PDF files on my phone / tablet.
However when doing this I would like the document to automatically reformat to fit the screen horizontally.
This would enable me to read a PDF enlarged to a text size comfortable to me AND only have to scroll up and down and not left and right.
I am partially sighted and the most frustrating thing when reading PDFs on a phone or tablet is the need to scroll right to carry on reading a page and then scroll back and then a little down and then right again and so on.
Other APPS such as BBC NEWS when enlarged with pinching the screen autonatically reformat to fit as many words as possible horizontally. When I have a file in word format this is also possible for example email attachments that are word files.
But PDFs appear to lack this very basic functionality.
Can you help and make this a possibility for the future if PDFs are currently limited? Or can you please inform me of a method to acheive this now?
Surely a bright spark at Adobe could make this happen and help all those people with short sightedness.
    Thank you

This is generally not possible. Unless a PDF has been specifically created to be "accessible" and allows dynamic reformating, it will never change its appearance. The whole point of the PDF format is to retain appearance across different paltforms and devices, after all. It simply works different from HTML.

  • Magic Track Pad with Lion 10.7 and Safari zoom aA vs Pinch to zoom

    Hi,
I enjoy a Mac Mini (early 2009) hooked to a 50 inch plasma and surf from my couch, stream etc... We browse with Safari 5.X and enjoyed the new Magic Track Pad with Snow Leopard. You could zoom / scale Safari with Snow Leopard beautifully, with a pinch out on the trackpad, same function as aA option on the browser task bar.
Now with Lion, the pinch to zoom feature zooms but doesn't scale the safari window the same way aA option used to.  In lion a pinch out to zoom in will push a significant part of the browser screen off / out of view.
The aA option on the safari task bar scales the window, and keeps everything visible but larger, but now in Lion it is not available from the Magic Track Pad Gestures. The Button is still there on the browser but there is no option to access it from the track pad with a gesture.
How can I revert to the old way of zooming / Scaling a Safari web page with my Magic track pad in Lion?
    Thanks,
    H

You can see in that screenshot that a lot of browser.gesture.pinch prefs have an empty string as their value and thus won't have any effect.
You can restore some zoom feature by modifying the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page via the right-click context menu.
    * browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
You may want to toggle this pref (I don't know what effect this has):
    * browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>

  • Pinch to zoom not working properly in Safari 5.1

I have OS X 10.6.8 (downloading lion as i type). I updated safari this morning and ever since I did that, pinch to zoom isnt working right. I can pinch to zoom in, to a certain extent but I can not get as large as I want as I used to and I cannot zoom back out at all. It seems to be working properly in my other apps so I guess it's something in safari. I'm not very Mac savvy since everything usually works and I dont have to be, so maybe I'm missing something? Help! I use this feature CONSTANTLY and desperately want it back. Thanks in advance!

    Same here.
MBP Late 2007 with Magic Trackpad
    OSX 10.6.8
    Safari 5.1  (6534.50)
I could zoom in once and then it wouldn't work anymore by using the pinching on the Magic Trackpad.
Pressing Command and +/- still worked.
I deleted Safari 5.1 and reinstalled the Combo Update to get 5.0.5 back and it worked properly again.
Then I installed 5.1 another time and had the same error again.
I guess I got to roll back to 5.0.5

How do I enable pinch to zoom? I don't want to type in code in about:config. If there is not a setting I can change, I'll go back to Safari.

  • Bug in PDF pinch and zoom?

Hi, I have a big problem related the PDF pinch and zoom.
When I try to make an article with 2 vertical pages each containing one imported PDF and 1 horizontal page contain two imported PDF, the result is a simple jpeg page with no pinch and zoom.
The strange thing is that if in the same article I add more vertical and horizontal pages, the pinch and zoom works!
I use the latest version of Folio builder and Folio Producer and, off course, I follow the normal steps: I choose PDF when I create an article, I use iPad and not Android and the PDF zooming is enabled in Viewer Builder.
I need to have 2 vertical pages and 1 horizontal to adapt an a paper magazine (I know the DPS has not been made for this but my publisher want to publish all our magazine with this platform, we also have a magazine specifically designed for the DPS ). My "idea" is create a stack every two pages to allow rotation between pages remaining on the same pages and enable the horizontaly flow between "articles" but if the pdf are transformed in jpeg I can't proceed...
It's a bug or I missed some step?
Thanks in advance for your answers
Claudio (from Italy, sorry for my english!)

I think there might be a bug here.
I've successfully created a pinch zoom folio using the sidecar.zip files posted by Klaasjan.
However if I import my own article (_h and _v both set to iPad dimensions and containing a simple text field of text).
If the article format is set to PDF, once created and I view the Properties panel, the Smooth Scrolling option is set to Horizintal only and greyed out so it cannot be changed. So no pinch/zoom is available.
If the article format is set to Automatic, once created and I view the Properties panel, I can set the Smooth Scrolling property to Off (Snap to page) and tick the Horizintal Swipe Only checkbox (so I'm matching the setting of the sidecar examples).
However, when I the Update the article to the Folio Producer and then check the article Properties again, the Smooth Scrolling has reverted to Horizontal Only. So again, no pinch zoom.

  • Pinch to Zoom doesn't work properly!

Whether in Chrome or in Album, the pinch to zoom function doesn't perform as expected.  It zooms irregularly and is also jerky by the way. In chrome, it's even worse. I am on .534 and also repaired using PCC, is this a software issue or should I be going for a replacement?

Uh, it's like when you start to zoom, it doesn't zoom smoothly. It's jerky and doesn't zoom at all sometimes. In other case scenarios, if you zoom in fully it gets zoomed just partailly. The problem is that it doesn't recognise the gesture properly. No, I'll try with QuickPic and update you. And, just the ASF installed. No other protectors or cases by the way

  • DPS: pinch and zoom function not working on all pages within folio (v30 tools using the pdf setting). What would cause some pages to pinch and zoom fluidly, while other pages appear a bit sticky? Could it be a button on the wrong layer?

What would cause some pages in the same folio to pinch and zoom fluidly, while other pages appear a bit sticky? Could it be a button on the wrong layer that's not allowing the pinch and zoom to work?
I do have a "go to state" button that enlarges graphic to full page on the page. Could this be cancelling the pinch and zoom functionality? Would a box with text wrap ON affect the ability to pich and zoom? What else may be causing this?

  • Pinch to zoom not working in Illustrator CS6

After replacing a lot of the hardware in my MacBook Pro and re-installing CS6, I've found that pinch-to-zoom no longer works in Illustrator.
It's functioning fine in InDesign and PhotoShop though.
Am I missing some preference option to enable multi-touch gestures?

yes, what in the world is going on with this latest OS, even claimed to be world's most advanced!?
I was shocked enough when I realized no 4finger swipe to switch apps, and 3finger swipe to go back and forth between pages not working when you have 3finger drag enabled
now what's utterly frustrating is NO MORE PINCH TO ZOOM IN FINDER
this is like one of the most important functions in the OS, and it's gone!?
    this must come back
please fix these in the next update

  • Pinch to zoom stops working

On my 2011 macbook pro, pinch to zoom using the trackpad stops working periodically ever since upgrading to Yosemite. Rebooting seems to solve the problem. Otherwise, it eventually starts working again, the stops again after a period of time. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

    Hey RobRobRobRobRob,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the trackpad isnt working correctly. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
