Ping issue with host

Hi,
Let me explain my topolgy quickly.. so I have 2 x 2950's (s1 and s2) connected to a 3550 (core) which is connected to a 2620 (r2) and this is connected to a 2611 (r1) which is connected to a 2620 (r3) which is connected to a 1841 (r4) and lastly this is connected to a 2950 (s3), sorry if this sounds a bit confusing.  basically if I console into s1 and telnet from there I can access any device mention in this topology without a problem.  but if i connect a host into s1 then I can only reach r2 nothing beyond that.  I know it's probably a silly mistake but I just can't seem to get it working.  any help would be greatly appriciated

Hi,
I have figured out how to make it work, but dont fully understand it.  Basically if I turn off my wireless adaptor (192.168.0.0 network) and then connect my lan connection (10.0.0.0 network) to s1 then everything works. does anyone know what is the problem here?

  • Issues with host command

    Hi All
We are running Forms 10gR2 under linux. We are having issues with the host command. We use host command to call ProC* modules in the appsvr. It used to work in Forms 6i. Host commnd no longer works in forms10g. Do we need to any setup to run commands using host.
We need to resolve this issue immediately.
    any help is appreciated.
    Rgds
    Arvind Balaraman

Arvind has said the command needs to run on the app server so HOST is correct, not CLIENT_HOST.
I noticed when I installed 10g (on solaris) that the default.env file has a setting for PATH which does not include /usr/bin so HOST would not be able to find standard unix commands, so I added it in:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/home/oracle/product/AS101202/bin
Alternatively you could include the full path on any unix commands run by HOST.
Surpisingly I have not seen this documented anywhere. Could this be the problem ?
I have a related problem I have not solved yet. I have one particular HOST command which works OK until after I run reports from forms, then it just stops working without producing any error.

    Hi,
Basis people are not aware of adding in host file, for that reason i am asking input here.
My XI ssytem runs on OS level i.e on AS400.
Basis team tried to reach host file by mapping into server, but they are unable to find host file. Do i need to ask OS level expert to add entry in host file.
For my knowledge, can you pleae give me the path of host file at OS level if you have any idea.

  • Issues with Hosted Exchange, UM and Lync 2013.

    Hello everyone!
I am trying to deploy UM with Office 365 Hosted Exchange. We are using one Lync 2013 Standard Edition FE and have deployed one edge server. We have set up our firewall to host the Reverse Proxy.
We do not use wildcard certs. External DNS resolves the _sipfederation and sip._tls SRV records to the external face of the edge server. The edge server functions as it should for remote users and mobility.
I have tried to follow these instructions to the letter three times over to no avail.
    http://y0av.me/2014/01/07/lyncum365/
Neither Snooper or Event Viewer show any particular issue, though when I try to dial out to voice mail I will get one to two rings and then 5 seconds of silence a fast busy, and finally "Call Unsuccessful".
When checking the firewall logs I notice a seemingly random 10.x.x.x address being sent to the firewall by the external leg of the edge server. Wireshark captures it as STUN packets on port 3478 being sent to port 3478. These are being dropped by our firewall.
I believe them to be RTP packets but I do not know if this is normal behavior. Has anyone any ideas?

My mistake. Here is the snooper result.

  • Issue with host resolution using a pac file on Internet Explorer 11

    Hi guys,
I'm facing a weird issue on IE11 that is causing some complains from the end users. I've a pac file configured on IE11 and when I open the IE11 on the first time it takes around 45 seconds to load the webpage content. So I'm able to open a new tabs and type
new addresses but the content is only loaded after 45 seconds.
I was analysing the issue and I figured out that is related with a non-sense/stupid dns lookup when you have a pac file configured on IE11, using the rule isInNet(host, “pattern”, "mask").
The first time you open IE11 the host is resolved as dummy, instead of the homepage or the web address typed, so you'll find a lot of queries by dummy, when it doesn't exist at all. If you have several dns servers configured and with a slow connection then
you get around 45 seconds or more until you get the webpage content.
This issue isn't appearing on IE8 or Google Chrome, so it should be some bug on IE11, I suppose.
Please keep in mind that I've tested in using my corporate image and using a vanilla image (zero-customizations) and the behaviour/output was the same.
Has someone faced the same issue already?
    Thanks in advance,
    Valter Anjos

  • Issue with HOST "metric and policy settings"

    Hi All,
I have a OMS and EM Reporsitory installed on a linux machine I have connected four agents(4 hosts) to this grid control. For one perticular host I could not see any predefined metrics. The steps I followed are I have opened a host and went to "Metric and Policy Settings" and there I could not see any predefined metrics like Log file patteren match metrics and CPU utilization metric etc. For checking I have access "All Metrics" option there I can see all predefined metrics but their "collection Schedule" set to Real time-only. I think this is reason why I am not able to see these metrics in "Metric and Policy settings" for customization. How can change the Collection Schedule of these metric. This case is only for that perticular host other hosts are fine and showing metrics and allowing me to customize thresholds values.
As someone suggested I stopped and cleared the state of the agent and then started the agent again but the problem is not solved. Please suggest me a solution.
    Regards,
    Ashok Chava

You could create a MONITORING TEMPLATE of the metrics you want to collect and base it off of a host that has the Metric and Policy Settings SET and apply it to this perticular host.
Have you checked Setup> Management Pack Access> for HOSTS?

  • VirtualBox compatibility issues with MAC OSX Mavericks

    Hi All,
I am just feeling I should have stuck to 10.8. I upgraded to 10.9 (Mavericks) and am no longer able to use the host adapter settings on VM. Upon further looking around, it was suggested to upgrade to Virtual box version 4.3 and I did that. So far so good. Now, unlike in the past, when i tend to shut my machine - the display lingers around and when I tend to open any apps (like safari) a pop up message - your machine is already shutdown is displayed!! . I had to physically forcelly push th power button.
Later when I log in back, the Virtual Box had to be reinstalled, as I found the same issue with Host Adapter settings.
Is anyone else facing this issue?
ALso, is there any way I can get my mac book rolled back to 10.8?? I am still in warranty if that helps.

FYI, some bugs were fixed in 4.3.1 but there's still a blocker that VirtualBox prevents the Mac from shutting down.
The bug ticket is: #12241 (VirtualBoxVM Application can't quit) – Oracle VM VirtualBox
And today a dev posted an explanation:
The problem is two-fold. The first problem is that VBoxNetDHCP does not terminate automatically and prevents VBoxSVC from shutting down (4.3.0 regression). We fixed this problem and the fix will be available soon. The other problem is that the VBoxNetAdp KExt has to be disabled. This is a Mavericks regression and finding the fix is more difficult. We are working on it.
    Comment 4 describe a work-around:
I have found that this problem (at least in my case) is caused by the host-only interface ("vboxnet0" on my machine). If I don't have a host-only interface active on a given VM, it will stop cleanly. If one is active, the "stuck" behavior will be exhibited, the VM will be unable to be Force Quit and will prevent shutdown or reboot from the GUI. The machine can, however, be rebooted or shut down from the command line via "sudo reboot" or "sudo shutdown -h now", although there is a significant delay before the actual reboot/shutdown occurs (up to a minute).
I have also found that removing the host-only interface via "VBoxManage hostonlyif remove vboxnet0" will clear the condition and allow the stuck VM to finish its shutdown and disappear from the Dock.

  • Issues with loading my iWeb site on my Yahoo hosted ftp

I consider myself pretty good at troubleshooting applications on mac but iweb 09 has really stumped me. My gut feeling tells me its more of a Yahoo site ftp issue but not sure. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue with Yahoo web hosting but after I have built my site on iWeb and hit upload it says successful. I go to my website and nothing is there at all. Nothing except an error. This is the site im building for: http://www.peterherro.com/ As you can see there is nothing. Yet I have tried uploaded via FTP in the settings. i even tried using mobileme and having it redirect from the site to the mobileme hosted site. iWeb always thinks it did it's job when i upload but it isn't doing a thing. If i go to my mobile me it shows that my site is uploaded but if i click the clink i get an error. this is the link. http://www.peterherro.com/Main/Welcome.html
I hope this makes sense and I am hoping someone might be able to give me some insight. I hate feeling defeated by this but i am at a lose. Thanks in advance!

Cany you tell iweb to redirect people from your domain name (EX: www.PeterHerro.com) to http://web.me.com/PeterHerro ?
You have it backwards. You tell the place where your personal domain name (Yahoo?) to point that name at your site hosted on iWeb. You can do this via url forwarding, where you just type http://web.me.com/PeterHerro into a form. Or you can do it via CNAME, where you set the www CNAME to web.me.com (plus put your personal name in the MobileMe account settings).

  • Certificate Host Naming Issue with WRVS4400N

When accessing the WRVS4400N v1.00.16 for Remote Administration or QuickVPN, I get an error indicating that the certificate host name does not match the host name of the WRVS4400N. Is this a an issue with the certificate generated by the WRVS4400N or is there a method of changing the host name of the WRVS4400N to match that of the certificate? I noticed that the name on the certificate is WRVS4400N and the router name is linksys.

I have not been able to generate a certificate to place in the QuickVPN directory. I must be missing something. I looked in the VPN Tab, VPN advanced settings button and VPN Client Accounts tab. I can not find a button to generate a certificate to place in the QuickVPN directory. The only way I get a certificate is by https of the router from the LAN or WAN and exporting it from Internet Explorer. In the mean time, I placed the certificate in my certificate stores under the trusted authority store. Is there a button missing to generate a certificate or do I simply not get it? Both are possible.
PS> Thank you for your reply.

  • Does PCI6534 have issues with power on io's and host cpu not powered

Are there any issues with the PCI6534 when the io has power applied and one boots the host CPU?

    Hello;
I couldn't understand exactly what you meant by that.
I'm assuming you are asking if you will damage the board in case the I/Os are active and the CPU is turned off. If that is the question, the answer is no, you won't damage the DAQ device.
    Hope this helps.

  • Issues with Ping.

Hi. Didn't think my first post here would be to complain about internet issues but oh well
I play my fair share of online games on my PC. I've recently moved home from university for the summer, so have moved from central London with excellent ping/upload/download. Since moving home however, I have had quite a few issues with the internet service I'm being provided. For example, whilst playing, I'd randomly get 400+ ping for up to 5 minutes at a time. http://www.pingtest.net/result/45437701.png.
    Here are my adsl settings:

As you can see, I also have interleaving on, which contributes to a base ping of ~50. So basically, I'm begging for someone to help fix this issue I have, and as well to turn off the interleaving!

  • Routing Issue with 3550 Switch

I am having an issue with routing with one of my Cisco 3550 switches.  I know the 3550s are EoL but some of us have to work with what we have.
I am using a 3550 on either side of a Layer 2 link.  The Layer 2 link is 2 Extreme Summit X-440 switches with Microwave between the switches.  I have a VLAN configured on both switches and tagged on the ports connected to the Microwave.  The 3550 switch on each end is configured for IP routing but I cannot pass traffic between the switches.  If I unplug the switch on the local end and plug in a laptop, I can ping the switch on the remote end and access devices at the remote end.
I know this should work because I am doing the same thing over another Microwave link and Layer 2 link using another 3550 and a HP ProCurve at the remote end.
Here are the configs for each 3550:
Local end;  Port Fa0/23 goes to the Remote Side.  Port Fa0/24 goes to the rest of the network

Ideas?  Anything stand out as grossly wrong?  I have worked on this for 2 days and am at a loss.
    Thanks
    Jamey

Sorry for the delay in replying.  Other items at the office took priority over this project.  I tried that and no change.  I pulled the switch from the remote site and took it back to the local end and connected the switches with a crossover cable and everything works fine.  I have pretty much determined that it is an issue with the config in one of the Extreme switches.  The config in those look pretty normal but there are a few things I am unsure of.  Guess I'll see if there is a similar site for Extreme gear.
    Thanks
    Jamey

  • Open port issues with Direct Print functionality

Hi, I have been fighting with HP call support about the Photosmart 7525 printer.
Originally I setup and had performed all the functions to enable both web support and WIFI.
Within an hour the printer would not respond to wireless communication, though it had its wireless indecator showing it was connected.
I was told by HP support that the issue will be resolved in March, as there will be a firmware update to fix the issue.
Now that I had the printer install the new firmware I still get the issue.
Though I found through some sniffing, that there are a number of ports enabled and open that are over and beyond print requirements.
Funny thing I can send my printer into instant lockup with all lights flashing with a simple UDP ping sniff. I would think I can do this with other new HP printers using Eprint functions. I will find HP web based printers that are open for public printing and test my theory that HP Eprinters are open to hacking and denyal of service attempts.  My Hp print app on andriod list three in my area, and one is at my local Walmart. This would be cool to find this, as I am usually not the first to point such matters out.
I assume some are for Apple devices to print.
    Here is my sniffing report:

OK now I am able to run a full scan on TCP ports without causing a lock up of the printer.
I found that having the printer connect to a router that has been setup to use channel 5, 6 or 7 will cause port scanning issues with the printer.
It is obvious that there are 18 ports that are seen as open, whether they are used or not. Two of which are active but have no service connected to them. Some are just dead like port 25, but over half are active enough to recieve data and lock network connectivity within the printer.
As the firmware states some other laser jets may be affected depending on how the configuration can be set.
I moved my routers channel to channel 1 as it is the only other option I have in a highly congested location. It is not as good as channel 6, but the printer seems to have channel 6 locked in for direct printing.
Here is the latest full scan with UDP enabled, it is the furthest and most complete scan I am able to complete, with UDP ports enabled. The TCP port scan has a bit more and I have placed a simple list below the information given here:

  • Very Strange Network Issue With Two Guests on 2012 R2 Hyper-V Failover Cluster

Hi all.  We're having a odd issue with two guests on our 2012 R2 failover cluster.
In a nutshell, if we shutdown a particular server (I'll call it Server A) another totally different server (Server B) on the same node loses it's network connectivity to the domain. If we start server A back up, network connectivity returns on server B.
At first I thought server A might be running a service that was somehow linked to server B, so I decided to disable server A's NIC.  Interestingly, that had no affect on server B's connectivity.
The next step I tried was pausing server A and again, no adverse affect on server B's connectivity.
Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
One other clue is that if I ping server B from either of the Hyper-V hosts in the cluster, I never lose network connection to server B.
So I would suspect this is some network issue on the cluster, but I'm kind of at a loss where to go from here.
Has anyone seen this behavior before or does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions I can try?
    Thanks!
    George Moore

    Hi Sir,
I'v never seen this before .
    >>Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
They are connecting to same virtual switch ?
First please run cluster validation to check if there is any error .
If it is ok , please try the following items for troubleshooting :
    1. shutdown  serverA   serverB
    2. then add another virtual NIC for serverB
    3. start server B  check if the issue happens to both "old" and "new" virtual NIC .
In addition , you can live migrate both A and B to another node , then try to live migrate A to the original node .
If the issue persists , I would suggest you to remove that virtual switch on both nodes then re-create them .
    Best Regards,
    Elton Ji
