Ping to gateway fails
Hi,
We have a vlan 10 - 192.168.5.1 /24 ( Static IP subnet ) on the core switch.
One pc is connected to a port (fa1/0/11) on an edge switch-ES01 ( which has this vlan 6 ) & assigned to vlan 6
Pc is given the ip 192.168.5.25 & gateway as 192.168.5.1
But, the pc is unable to ping the gateway. We tried with different laptop & also changed the fa1/0/11 interface to manual speed.
The configurations are as below:

Hi,
I see that you have the laptop on vlan 6, and the gateway of that laptop is vlan 10 ip add 192.168.5.1/24 ?? Your gateway should be on the same vlan, you cannot have a laptop on vlan 6 and his gateway is vlan 10 there is no way this can ping its gateway since you they are on different vlans. You will need to have a SVI for vlan 6 on the core switch with a different subnet to achieve this.
What about if you put that laptop on vlan 10 an try again with the same ip on the laptop.

Hi experts,

However my JCO destinations were working perfectly until recently. I checked on the logon group. I have one called CLUST, which i use for this purpose.
I have also checked both service files and they have the following for the ECC server im connecting to.
3610 because its system number 10 i am connecting to.
sapmsDMI 3610/tcp
From the JCE destinations screen i cannot even ping the server. I can though when i log on to the server through remote desktop.

Rfc conn.: Connect to SAP gateway failed , edit: Group PUBLIC not found
Hello!
I want to create a RFC connection.
In the "Connection and Transport"-Tab I fill out the fields: Target Host, System Number and System ID.
If I save the destination the fields Gateway-Host and Gateway-Service will be automatically filled out with the same input value of the Target Host field.
But there is no gateway for this system and if I ping the destination the following error message is shown:

How can I handle this?Hi,
I have attempted to configure the Destination with a co-worker who successfully configured a Destination to the same R/3-System but with SAP NetWeaver 2004s and not with SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 SR1.
He said that in his case he connects to the Message-Server so we activated Load Balancing.
The Message-Server will be found now but the Logon Group cant be found:

About my installation environment:
Windows XP
I've enlarged the page file size before installation.
I've looked up the info from Internet, so I've checked the following:
Under \system32\driver\etc\hosts
10.10.10.10 <domainname> <hostname> is configued as a loopback address (I was prompted to use loopback adapter when installing Oracle, because my network adapter uses DHCP)
Under \system32\driver\etc\services
sapgw00 3300/tcp # SAP System Gateway Central Instance Port
sapgw00s 4800/tcp # SAP System Gateway Security Port
I can ping 10.10.10.10 (get response)
(Any possibility that the installation user can not access 10.10.10.10:3300 ??, I don't know.)
However, I can't logged on the system, because in the MMC, "disp+work.exe" turns yellow(Dialog Queue standstill) and then becomes gray.
Some experts in some forums have commented that a long hostname (>8 characters) might be the problem. Is it true?
(I've not installed the standalone gateway instance yet. ) When do I need to install the gateway instance? Now, I installed as follows: DB software->Central Instance->DB instance.
Thanks in advance.
DennisHi,
I had a similar error, when installing SAP BW 3.1. on windows 2000 advanced server, oracle 9.2.0.6.
FRF-00007 Unable to open RFC connection.
ERROR 2006-12-04 07:03:21
FRF-00063 RFC logon failed with message: Failed
However this holds good for NW 2004 also.
To resolve this error you will need to upgrade your SAP kernel level.
1) Download the kernel. i.e. sapdbexe.sar and sapexe.sar.
2) uncar the files sapdbexe.sar and sapexe.sar using the sapcar.exe
On dos prompt go to the particular directory where u have downloaded the above sar files using "cd" command.
3) To Uncar the files use this command on dos prompt
SAPCAR -xvf <your-SAR-file> to uncar the files.
4) shut down sap using the MMC.
then in windows services.msc stop saposcol ,stop oracle service sapserviceSID and and the sapSID_##
5) Now just copy the new kernel files you have uncared above into the /usr/sap/SID/exe/run/ directory of your system
6) Start the services you stopped and start SAP using the MMC.
Now you should be able to logon. Sometimes the MMC shows the yellow status due to missing workprocess status. However the system should work fine.

Gateway failed error when users are trying to loginto the portal
Hi,
when the users are trying to log into the portal, the following error msg is displaying. most of the users are facing this problem
"Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_PM TYPE=B MSHOST=abcxyz144 GROUP=GP1 R3NAME=GP1 MSSERV=sapmsGP1 PCS=1 LOCATION"
is the problem from r/3 system or from portal? if it is from portal, what settings have to be done & if it is r/3 what have to be checked for the particular user to avoid such error message
reply soon as this is very urgent issue.
regards
vvthis is likely to be missing entries in your services file on the portal server.
I would expect to see
sapmsGP1 36xx
or similar. You might also want to make sure that you portal server can resolve the DNS name of your R/3 system. ping abcxyz144 from the portal node to make sure.

Connect to SAP gateway failed - internal error
Hi, I've developed a simple .NET application that connects to a SAP system and makes a function call using a SAP Connector Proxy object. Everything works fine in my workstation, but deployment doesn't. I'm also deploying the following libraries: SAP.Connector.dll, SAP.Connector.Rfc.dll and librfc32.dll.
The fact is that deployment works fine in some servers, but not in others. I've checked that .NET Framework is installed (both versions, 1.1 and 2.0). I've checked the "WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services" file. What else should I check? Any idea? Every suggestion would be appreciated.
The error message is the following:
Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_PM GWHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, GWSERV=sapgw00, ASHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, SYSNR=00 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host ERROR internal error TIME Mon Nov 13 16:23:08 2006 RELEASE 640 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 37 RC -1 COUNTER 1
And the connection string:
CLIENT=100 USER=****** PASSWD=****** LANG=EN ASHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx SYSNR=0
Thanks in advanceHi Daniel,
Can you connect to the particular system by using SAPGUI ?
if yes, then your librfc32 file is working fine.
NCo internally consumes it's functions.
Other points to check are
1> service name as appears from within the r/3 system [transaction : smgw]
2> NCo 2.0 uses .net 1.1 & nCo 2.5 uses .net 2.0, do you have both versions running parallely ?
3> gateway errors are infrastructure issues, please verify your firewall settings for the relevant protocols : http / https & also sap ports 3300 onwards.
the services file you have checked will list the ports that need to be opened on the firewall [in the case of multi - domain applications]
4> check in your 'hosts' file [same directory as your 'services' file]
This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
space.
Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
For example:
102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

I know it has something to do with the entries in the services and hosts files of the portal server. Please guide me on links from help.sap.com on this.HI Dagfinn,
Very helpful answer. Thanks.
When you say :
4. Normally, the sap system should be registered in DNS, and you should need any. --- How do I check if my SAP system is registerd in the DNS? Is there some detail explaination on this.
Also,
I have these observations :
1. I checked the services file on my portal server and the entry for "sapgw00 3300/tcp" is maintained there.
2. There is no entry of my SAP ECC box in the hosts file of my portal server.
3. The group PUBLIC is not maintained in SMLG transaction.
4. I am using R3ip only in my code, there is no other place that this "R3ip" is being used.
Following is my code :

Thanks
LakshmiHi Lakshmi ,
As rightly mentioned by Ganesh, this is supposed to be handlled by Basis+hardware support team.
What you can do as temporary solution, use RSRT for Query Monitor.
And use query display as BEx/HTML, this way you can atleast see the result of query.
Hope it helps.
