Pink dots in playback monitor? Glitch?

Ok weird situation.
CS6 MAC
I have a prores file that is fine no dots.
But in PPro on play back it has blinking pink( sometimes white) pixels that show up and blink every once in a while? at different locations in the frame.
I wouldn't mind if it was just playback, but it also shows up on my DVDs that I burn.
Again these dots are not on the original file.
And often times show up in different spots from the playback and the dvd.
Thoughts what this could be?

Yes, I tried converting it to mpeg2 for the dvd. And still the same problem. It looks like its not a problem with the file because the pink dots show up on different areas from where they are in premiere to where they are in the dvd i burn.
It makes no sense?

  • Why can't I see still images in the playback monitor when editing a video?

Why can't I see still images in the playback monitor when editing a video? I have rendered the images in the project.  I checked my system to make sure it meets all the requirements for the software, no problem there.  When I "share" the project and save it as an MPEG, the images show up in WMP just fine.  But I need to be able to see what I'm doing to the stills while I am editing.  Help!

Many thanks for the reply with the details.
But, the key is missing...what version of Premiere Elements are you using? Are you using Premiere Elements 10?
I hope not in this case, but if you are, we will tell you what needs to be done. The following is a copy/paste of the Announcement
at the top of this forum about the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

Older NVIDIA GeForce drivers can be found

  • HDV sequence has green lines and pink dots after export

I digitized some HDV footage from a Sony HVR-VIU into Final cut Pro 7. Everything worked normally through the edit. After exporting the sequence as a quicktime movie, it played back fine as a quicktime. When I attempted to convert it to a media file in Sorenson Squeeze, the file showed up with green lines and pink dots over the picture. To test it differently, I dropped the file into IDVD. Same, result in playback. I've never seen anything like this before, any ideas?

Brad your article was extremely helpful in getting my sequence to work for a DVD. However, I've had success before using the same camera, format, etc., in making DVD's from an HDV sequence, and I'm curious as to what I did wrong this time. The most confusing part to me is that the original quicktime self-contained export played fine through quicktime, but got funky when placed into IDVD and Sorenson's Squeeze compressor. I must have done something wrong up front in digitizing or making settings in FCP, and I'd like to know what it was so I don't do it in the future. Thanks.

  • Why is everything in my playback monitor blown up (by 200% or so?), and why is it showing as 4:3?

Why is everything in my playback monitor blown up (by 200% or so?), and why is it showing as 4:3? I imported mxf files that show up fine in the preview monitor, but when edited into the timeline they now suddenly appear super blown up; there is a guy in a mid-shot interview situation, but now I only see his arm. Perhaps I hit  a wrong button by accident, but how can I resolve this? ALso, whether it's the same issue or whether it is unrelated I don't know, but in the playback monitor the aspect ratio seems 4:3; why is that? Any idea, on either topic, anyone? Thank you!!!!! I appreciate your help!!

Did you do as it shows in http://forums.adobe.com/message/3776153 to be sure your video and sequence match?

  • Getting signal from a playback monitor

    Hi all
I just very recently set up a FCP suite at home using a Mac Pro. I hooked up 2 samsung LCDs to the 2 available DVI outputs on the Mac Pro so i have more desktop space to edit with.
I then bought a LG TV so that i could monitor my timeline on a big screen.
I have set up a firewire cable to my SONY HDV VI cam and then connected the camera to the LG TV via RCA, as the FCP guide suggested.
I then go into final cut to change the playback settings but i see no option for firewire playback...
Would anyone know what the best and cheapest way for me is to get a signal from my external playback monitor??
i am not very technical at all, so any help would be greatly aprpeciated@@!!!!!!

    yes, ok.
if you are using FCP 6, editing in HDV but want to monitor via DV (downconverted) then you'll need to create for yourself an Easy Setup so you don't have to regualrly jump through any hoops.
you're in Oz so I'm guessing PAL
start by choosing a regular DV setup .... *Easy Setup*: *DV PAL*
then open the Audio/Video Setting window and change the *Capture Preset* to HDV and the *Sequence Preset* to the particular preset that matches your flavour of HDV (HDV 1080i50 ?)
then click *Create Easy Setup* and give your new Easy Setup a relevant name and description (eg HDV 1080i50 with DV OUT, This is the easy setup to use to monitor DV from an HDV edit.)
Now you should find you can capture and edit HDV and monitor that footage via DV
( obviously you need to have a DV device plugged in, that device need to be configured for DV input, and you need to have selected Apple Firewire PAL in the View > Video Playback menu ... if you don't see that option try choosing View menu > Refresh A/V Devices, then look again )

  • Help please. Playback hesitations/glitches making recording impossible

I am having a serious problem that has just appeared. I need to fix it asap. I'm right in the middle of several sessions and recording/playback has become impossible.
    - This afternoon, at a session, the problem began... there were serious playback glitches causing noises and hestitations. It was impossible to record. I did a workaround by creating a mixdown of the tune, creating a new session and then having the person play over the one mixdown track. This worked but I think it was just luck...
    - However...now, I am not able to do anything at all without this happening. I can't even playback. It seems to be getting worse.
    - After pressing 'play' there is a hestitation before playback, then 2-3 seconds of playback then glitches and noise, then 2-3 more seconds of music, then glitches.
    - Nothing has changed.
    - Note: I have done several full band sessions recently, including one yesterday, with absoutely no problem whatsoever. The problem just appeared.
    - Suggestions please! What would cause this?
    Thanks!

I do not generally defrag audio files, as there seems to be conflicting opinion. However, just doing a bit of new reading, it seems that maybe I should start defraging. I can see how that could cause the symptom I was having. The drive getting full and the playback accessing so many small files.
One interesting thing that I just read was that the act of transfering the files from one drive to another using Windows Explorer automatically defrags the files. When I copied my files over to another drive, my session played fine, now being contiguous files. I should try copying the files back to the original drive and see if the drive, and session, perform better. Not a bad idea.

  • FX5200-T 128 pink dots and clipping problems

    Hi all;
    Installed a new MSI FX5200-T 128 in a Celeron 2.2 with 256mb.
The user is complaining of pink dots in normal Windows progs, and clipping in Need For Speed Underground, even at low res (640x480).
Tried new Nvidia drivers, then back to originals, no improvement.  As this is a brand new card I'm wondering whether to send it back or is it more likely something that can be tweaked out with software adjustment?
    Thanks!
    flipch

As mentioned earlier, have tried the latest drivers and also tried another card.  The other card (FX5600) has a huge fan on it.
The PC only has 256mb of DDRAM.  Would another 256 potentially help with these problems?

  • Do Not Upgrade to Yosemite w/ Macbook Pro: Severe Monitor Glitch

    Jesus,
I have an early 2011 15" Macbook Pro that has been running very smooth with Mavericks OS X.
After upgrading to Yosemite my monitor has had sever issues and requires frequent restarts after the system crashes.
In hopes of a fixing this with an update, I updated to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, but this still occurs.
This problem is especially apparent when viewing NetFlix, browsing the web with multiple tabs and using Google Maps.
The laptop's screen displays this strange glitch pattern as shown in the photo below:
When this laptop model debuted, I had this identical issue and after returning two laptops, I finally received one that worked -- at the time I believe it was running Snow Leopard.
This is a very serious issue to deal with especially while editing video. When it crashes I lose everything that I was working on.
Notes: I have enabled and disabled "Automatic Graphics Switching" in hopes of fixing this... with no luck.
I have done a SMC reset with no luck.
After resetting the PRAM, this issue still exists.
I'm looking at reverting back to Mavericks 10.9 because this glitch never occurred.
When editing, I'll plug in an AOC USB Monitor and the issue still exists.
    Any ideas on a fix?

This is nothing to do with Yosemite, you have a hardware fault.
Take your Mac to an Apple Store, you're most likely going to need a new logic board.

  • Authoring to DVD w playback monitor capable of HD, Sequence settings?

    Hello Macaroonies,
As the subject line reads, I'm working on a project w a final output for playback on DVD hooked up to a HDTV ready 16:9 monitor.
I'm working in the sequence setting preset NTSC 3:2 (720x480) and plan on converting the finished edit to progressive as a last step. The theory here is to maintain a less-renders-required workflow in standard Ntsc (ie 480i) and convert to progessive just before output.
Is this the highest quality setting possibility in this case? Are there better ways to author to DVD and take advantage of the monitors capabilities?
The monitor itself is reformatting the image from 4:3 to 16:9 and it looks good. As an option, should I have the anamorphic setting activated within FCP sequence settings?
    Thanks, Mac ain't cheeze
    Drew

    Alright, that helps a lot.
This is something of a gray area, but if you're ultimately going to be playing back on this monitor - and only this monitor - you can forgo the Anamorphic thing because you can simply use the LCD monitor's in-built menu to fill the frame (as, I believe, you said you're doing currently).
Of course, in the off chance that this project needs to be played on any other monitor (or a 4:3 monitor), you're backed into a corner.
Personally, I would favor going Anamorphic - and adjusting your monitor appropriately - but the distortion issues confuse/annoy many people.
Now, if you're looking to make a progressive (as in 480p) DVD, I would suggest trying out the DV NTSC 48kHz - 23.98 sequence preset. Or it's anamorphic sibling. (How where you thinking of going progressive?)

I bought two Seagate 1TB Barracuda drives and installed them as a Raid 0. This did not change the stutter during playback. I contacted the GPU manufacturer and they said to install the latest driver. They have had several updated drivers recently. I have tried each new one as they were releases with no improvement. Nvidia said I can send it in for "warranty repair". I just paid for the GPU card on October 20th. I tried disabling the audio devices. No change.
I need help and do not know what to do next.

I was working on my computer when all of a sudden the screen went grey with 5 vertical pink lines appeared. I have switched the monitor off, but now it starts up with the pink lines then goes to a blank screen, what is the problem?

  • Pink Dotted Horizontal line

I was using my computer today (which is only a couple of years old) and randomly out of the blue a thin dotted pink horizontal like appeared on my screen and there seems to be a very faint vertical line down the left hand side of the screen as well.
Everything seems to be working fine, no other issues except for these **bleep** annoying lines. I updated my Nvidea graphics card to see if that helped and it didnt.
The line appears as soon as my computer is turned on and the hp logo appears on the screen.

  • New MAC PRO: itunes audio playback-stuttering, glitching, skipping

I have a brand new mac pro 3.2ghz quad, with 8gb ram (bought a couple weeks ago). All seems fine with the exception of brief skips, glitches and stutters with audio playback in itunes. I tried updating to itunes 11 and this did not resolve the problem. My music files play fine on my girlfriends macbook pro (purchased over a year ago), and never had any problems on my old machine (imac 24inch aluminum). I went to apple with the problem and after multiple system recoveries they determined that the computer was faulty and sent me a replacement. I just received the replacement and tested out some downloaded music from the itunes store and the same problem happened. Am I just unlucky to get two computers with this issue? Is it the Mac Pros? Has anyone had this issue with mac based machines, specifically the mac pros? I saw another thread on the issue but seemed to be primarily windows users running itunes. The skipping happens as frequent as every 20-30 seconds to every few minutes, but it is definitely enough to notice
    Thanks.
    Baffled,
    Greg

    Hi Greg.
I seem to have discovered this problem this weekend. I listen to a lot of music from my apple devices and have done for years. What I have noticed this weekend is that both my Macbook 2008 and iMac late 2010 both suffer with a brief stutter every minute or so making the enjoyment of listening to music a little annoying. Both are running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. My iMac is running the 2.93 GHz intel i7 processor with 8GB ram. Playing music should be a doddle!
From my point of view both Macs are running independently to external speakers. The music I am running on those 2 devices has been ripped on both devices. e.g. Macbook has ripped and plays Apple Lossless format and my iMac has ripped and plays songs in 320kbps. My guess is its a bug with the new iTunes 11 or Mountain Lion although I have been using 11 since its release.
While I'm not able to supply a fix I think its safe to say its not your new Mac Pro. One other thing to note is that I have been running up until this weekend a 7 or 8 year old Mac Mini as a media device in my kitchen playing Apple Lossless format with no issues at all. This device however is running Snow Leopard with all updates applied. The Macbook is now playing the Lossless music with stutters that was ripped on the Mac Mini that was playing OK.
So is the problem Mountain Lion?
    Take care
    Paul

  • Solid Green/Red Playback Monitor

I have just upgraded from CS4 to CS5.  I also just purchased a new Sony NEX-VG10.  I'm finding with the new camera that I occasionally get a clip that will not play properly in the monitor and it displays a solid green or red screen.  Sometime a clip with this problem will play the associated audio, others will not.  But I have found that it is very consistent in how each bad clip plays.  In other words the same clip will always display the same symptoms.
In a few cases a clip of say 30 seconds duration may play for 5-10 seconds normally, then it goes to red screen with no audio.  If I edit out the bad part and keep the rest there is no indication during playback that there was ever a problem with the remaining portion of the original clip.  But nothing I have tried will work to save the bad portion of the clip.
These are AVCHD files with .m2ts file extension.  I've tried a test project with some older .mts files shot on a Cannon and I'm not finding any of the green or red screen problems.  And I don't recall ever seeing that problem with CS4 either.  When I place 10 clips into the same sequence on the timeline there will be a solid yellow render bar, including above the bad clips.  I can tell right away which clips are bad because the thumbnail picture in at the start of the clip will be solid red rather than showing the first frame.  I've tried rendering the timeline but that makes no difference.  I have tried opening just the bad clip in a new project and get the same result.
If anyone has any ideas for what I might try to reveal the root cause of this problem I would really appreciate hearing them.  Could this possibly be a memory card problem??  When I play the video back in the camea all the clips play fine.  Perhaps something is being corrupted in the process of getting the video onto the computer??
Could this possibly be a hardware problem of some sort, in which case I will ask over in the hardware forum??
    Thanks

I played with it some more last night and found something interesting.  First off, I've only seen the green screen once that I can recall.  Red seems to be the most consistent indication of a problem.
The software that came with my camera has a built in tool that I didn't find before.  It will analyze the clips you have downloaded to look for problems.  Turns out that when I run the analyzer it identifies the same clips that show up red when I import them to PPRO.  So the problem appears to be something going wrong in the process of getting them from the camera to the HDD.
I will need to experiment with moving more files between the camera and the computer to see if I can find the cause of the problem.
    Thanks for the comments.
    Jim
