Pink hue on external projectors

I have searched throughout this forum and cannot find any suggestions. Please guide me.
I have found recently that when I plug into external projectors I get a pink hue. It happens on virtually all projectors I use now.
Originally, it worked fine. I am wondering if my upgrade to Mac OS X is the culprit. I cannot be sure, but I believe that it began after my upgrade. It happened a couple of times before the upgrade now everytime since.

Any solution to this problem yet?

  • External monitor has overly pink hue after last update.

Hello I have an older Macbook Pro (2 GHz Core Duo). I am using an external CRT for a second display and after downloading a small security and Safari update two days ago I have been experiencing a strange issue. The color is dominated by a pink hue which I cannot correct in any way. I tried the Color Sync calibration and have also tweaked the settings on the CRT itself but it will not go away.
I should mention that the problem is definitely not the monitor as I use it for my Xbox 360 as well and the color is perfect when using it so I am clueless as to what to do.
I am also without Apple Care so before I drop $50 on a one-time troubleshooting call is there anyone who is also experiencing this problem and has found a way to fix it?
    Thanks.

Hi. The same thing is happening to my Mac Pro (2.66 GHz Quad Core). I am using a 23" Samsung LCD/TV display. The color is dominated by a pink hue which goes away and shows up intermittently and that's the weird part - some days it's happenings and some days it doesn't. I've tried the Color Sync calibration both on my Mac and the LCD/TV itself. I know that it's not the LCD display since this is also connected to my Dell PC and I don't have the same issue when I'm using it as a PC display. I can watch TV on it with no problems as well.
My best guess is that it is somehow connected with a graphics cards (NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT) problem. I might have to take it out and inspect it (clean or something) and put it back. My Mac Pro is about a year old.
This could be a software problem, I'm not sure, I don't know. It has the latest software upgrade.
Am hoping that there is somebody out there that had experience the problem before and found a fix for this.
    Thank you.

  • Intel Mac Mini Pink hue display problem

Originally purchase a refurbed Mac Mini 1.66 Intel Core Duo, and over the years I've upgraded the RAM (w/ 2 Gigs) replace wifi "G" card with "N" card. Unfortunately, my mac mini died. Went to the Apple store in Tampa, and the genius said the logic board was toast.
I replaced the logic board with 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo board, and everything is working fine except for the display.
When it starts up, the standard grey screen now has a pink hue. After booting is finished the screen still has the pink hue. However, after a bit, the screen turns to normal, but there is some flicker. My mini is connected to a Samsung LCD 17" display that is working fine. There are no cable issues, I connected the display to my iBook, and it works fine.
Has anyone come across this before? Do I need to reseat the RAM sticks? Is there a software setting that I need to change since I upgraded from a 1.66 logic board to a 1.83?
The logic board is under warranty, but I was hoping to get some answers that can be easily fixed instead of sending it back.

I took the mac mini to work, and hooked it up to my monitor. It still displayed the pink hue at start up. I'm leaning toward this being a bad logic board.
One thing that is curious is that the screen will loose most of the pink hue as the Mac Mini warms up. It's almost back to normal, but the colors still have a little too much pink even after adjusting the monitor. Also, you can see flicker as it warms up as well.
I'm sending back the logic board for replacement.

  • I am trying to connect to an external projector

I have a 15" Macbook pro running Windows XP Pro bootcamp, I am trying to connect to an external projector using the Mac mini dvi to vga adaptor, I have now tried two different adaptors but still I cannot get the display to work.
Does anyone know if there is an update that needs to be installed or additional drivers that may need to be installed for this to work?
Anyone out there have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Simon

Thanks to the suggestion of downloading XP Service Pack 3, the problem seems to be resolved!

  • 10.5.2 won't send signal to external projector

Help! I do speaking engagements for a living and just updated to 10.5.2. When I hook an external projector to the computer (DVI to VGA) my MacBook Pro does see the external projector, but will not send a signal to it. It worked yesterday, but as soon as I upgraded it no longer works. We tried a second Mac running 10.5.1 and it worked fine.
I have an engagement Wednesday evening and MUST have this fixed or I will be forced to buy a new computer. Don't have system disks to go backwards with updates. Anybody have any ideas? What a nightmare. I'm desperate to have a computer that will send a video signal out. It sees a monitor, but doesn't see the projector.

    Howdy chadnodoubt,
If you are having an issue with your external display not performing as expected when connected with your MacBook Pro, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • Difficulty in connecting external projector to Macbook Air

I have an external projector I'm connecting to my Macbook Air (OSX 10.7.2) via mini display port to VGA adapter.  With projector on and ad adapter plugged into the macbook air, I see the screen flash blue, but can't force the external dispaly to be recognized.  Under system preferences, displays, I am hitting detect displays, and still nothing.  I have gotten the plug-n-play capability to work before using the adapter, but even after system reboot, I can't get it to work.  Any suggestions?

    Hi vvarruunn,
In the display system preference pane, click the 'show displays in the menu bar'. This will put a monitor in your menu bar.. Can you see your external monitor listed here?

  • 10.8.1 causing external projector to go to sleep

I rencently updated to Mac OS X 10.8.1 on my mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro and I'm experiencing an issue with external projectors going to sleep after just a few minutes of use.
I've been able to reproduce the issue with multiple projectors, multiple VGA cables, multiple Mini Display Port->VGA adapters and multiple MacBook Pros (both running 10.8.1).
I didn't experience the problem at any time prior to the 10.8.1 update, including while I was running 10.8(.0) - this issue is new to me since I upgraded to 10.8.1.
    Here's what happens:
I connect a projector to my MacBook Pro using a standard VGA cable and Mini Display Port->VGA adapter. I'm using the same cable and adapter that I've been using for over a year.
After 5-10 minutes of use, the projector turns off (or goes into standby mode). I've tried this with two different projectors and the behavior is the same for both. The Mac does not go sleep in any way, only the projector is affected.
It doesn't matter if I am mirroring or not mirroring my displays - it happens either way.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    -mike

Just a quick update - turns out the problem had nothing to do with my MacBook Pro, the Mini Display Port->VGA adapter, VGA cable, or project - it was a faulty uninteruptible power supply (UPS) that the projector(s) were plugged into. The UPS is faulty and is having frequent power blinks - which caused the projector(s) to turn off, then back on again...
    Thanks,

  • HT201300 What cable should be used to connect a macbook pro, 13 inch early 2011 model to an external projector so it will display the computer screen image through the projector?

What cable should be used to connect a macbook pro, 13 inch, early 2011 model to an external projector so the project displays the image on the computer screen?

You will need a cable or adapter with a minidisplay connection for the MBP.  That will be inserted in the Thunderbolt port.  The other end is dependent upon the connections of the projector which you have not listed.
    Ciao.

  • Cable for external projector/monitor

My external projector/monitor cable is missing. What cable do I need to replace it?

Hi, Pedro. Welcome to Apple Discussions.

  • Hooking up an external projector (Proxima desktop projector)

    Greetings all you helpful folks.
Bought an adaptor (mini VGA video output) to connect my iMac to an external projector; so i can show an iMovie to lots of people at once.
The projector does not detect any input. Tried several settings. After reading one posting that sounded helpful, (set display to "mirror") the iMac does not offer this option. (I do see it on my PowerMac, but maybe that's just a 10.4 bonus)
Any thoughts? or better yet, experience?
    Zep

Apple puts in the mirroring limitation in the i/e/mini Macs/books to encourage sales of the 'Power' Macs/Books which don't have the limitation.A nice German chap has posted a fix: Screen Spanning Doctor... it simply opens up the functionality that is already there. However, like the author - I can't take responsibility if it messes you system up (there have been no reports of that though - only good!).

  • T61 freezes when using an external projector

My T61 freezes immediately when I plug it into an external projector.  Any suggestions?

    Try the following steps first:
    1) Make sure the cables are connected properly.
    2) Test the external video port with another external monitor (to make  sure this is not a compatibility issue)
    3) Check to ensure that  the latest video driver and BIOS are installed
If your unit is still freezing up after doing all the steps above, call tech support to report systemboard issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • Screen has a pink hue?

Basics first. iMac G4 running OS 10.3.9
Asking this for my dad so hopefully passing on right info.
He had shut down the computer everything running fine. On reboot everything starts up fine, no problems except that the screen now has a pink hue to it. Icons, text, background, everything. It is usable but hard on the eyes. I gave him what I thought was the command to zap the video ram but it didn't work. Suggestions?

  • When using an external projector, the only thing that shows up on the screen is my desktop screen

When I'm presenting using an external projector, the only thing that shows up on the view screen is my desktop screen.  It will also display a powerpoint file, but only in slide show mode.  No other files (word, excel, etc) or safari will display.  How can I get what I see on my computer screen to show up on the external screen?

Check out this support site about using two monitors, since that's what you're doing when you're projecting:
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202351
You can either set it to "mirror" or arrange the monitors side by side. Then when you want to show the working window on your projector slide it in the direction you set as the second monitor. Many teachers will do this to show a video or powerpoint to their class while working on another document or answering emails.

Can't connect external projector to MacBook Pro running Windows7. Any suggestions?

Did you try a cable? The point is you did not provide any information about: what projector, how you are trying to connect, what happens when you try, error messages if any, does an external monitor work, what computer you have, what OS, etc.
