Pink lines

I plugged my ipod touch into my computer and it went to the regular startup screen but it soon went to some wierd pink lines going across it. Soon after that, some orange and blue lines started to appear. They scroll across the screen in vertical lines. I cannot turn the ipod off and itunes is not recognizing it as being plugged in. I tried unplugging it from my computer and it doesn't respond to it. I am not sure how to fix it.
Here is a picture of what it looks like: http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq180/tye8244/IMG1533.jpg?t=1259792157
Hopefully it can be fixed, -_-

  • IMac will no longer boot-up, Pink Lines

27" iMac running Mavericks, purchased March 2010, a great computer; that is until something goes wrong and local Apple support resources are scarce in my location!
Prior to the issue occurring I was performing a cut/paste from a website to a document and noticed red square dots on the screen behind the document I was working on, all functions were frozen. I did a cold reboot and this started normal then horizontal green lines appeared and the system would not come up. I turned the iMac off via the power button and after a couple of minutes switched on again this time the reboot worked, a error log and the option to report the fault to Apple was displayed, I typed a blurb about my issue and sent it off (I do not know what happens to them it felt good). There were no issues for the next few hours using standard functions like web browsing, Email and documentation etc.
While working on a Genealogy profile later in the day I again tried the 'cut and paste' process from a website to a document and the same issue occurred this time however there was no respite; each time I rebooted white screen, 5 horizontal pink lines about a cm wide the Apple Symbol and the wheel spinning then the pink square dots on a white background the dots were green over the apple symbol no other functions possible.
I would like if possible a diagnosis for this issue and if possible a ball park estimate of potential repair, recovery costs, I store most of my records, media etc on a external HD it would great to restore from a backup rather than start from scratch again!
I have photos of the screen images but cannot post on this forum

I can boot both Snow Leopard and Leopard install disks, no problem. I cannot boot ANY version of Windows install disk (XP, Vista, 7). My Super Duper backup was a backup of my Snow Leopard install to reformat the drive, since one theory was that the partition table was messed up. No go.

  • The graphics on my iq504 are grainy (pink lines every other pixel)

ive had 3 different iq504 touchscreen PCs and each one of them did this the first one the problem just went away after a while but this on ( the third replacement) has had the pink lines in it for over 3 months and after messing with it the whole screen started wigging out. the comp works fine you just cant see whats going on on the screen. has anyone had this problem?
i go to electronics school at WTI (great school) and even those guys couldnt find a way to fix the pink lines. they did fix the screen wigging out (imagine trying to watch pay per view that is still scrambled) but the graphics are still diced up by vertical pink lines.
HP wants $300.00 for me to send it to them to find out what the problem is and then i have to pay for what ever it takes to fix it.
    no way!!!!!
the instructor who teaches students how to put computers together couldnt find the video card (in the comp or on the internet) so i dont know what else to try it seens like a settings or refresh rate problem but theres no option besides 60Hz so i cant change it to find out
if anyone knows where i can go to find hwlp i would really appreciate it.
p.s. solid colors arent effected buy the pink lines but even the mouse arrow has the lines in it as well as every picture or movie

I am around 4 IQ50x models and none of them have shown vertical pink lines. Generally, large bands of pink going across an all white screen indicates CCD failure in the backlight
Your instructor could not find the video card in your TouchSmart because it does not have one. The video hardware is integrated into the motherboard.
The LCD panel is designed to work at 60Hz and you should not change it... as you might compound the problem.
THe notive displau resolution for this model is Resolution 1680 x 1050 @ 60Hz. If it is not set to this resolution, please do so and let us know if the pink lines go away.
You mention the lines do not appear over solid colors... Do they appear on the initial HP logo screen? The Bios Setup Utility? The boot Recovery Screens (press F11 repeatedly at startup but cancel if you don't want to fully recover your software). If the lines do not appear  is there any sort of video control software that you have added to each TouchSmart.. some common software that you installed onto each one.
... an HP employee expressing his own opinion.
Please post rather than send me a Message. It's good for the community and I might not be able to get back quickly. - Thank you.

Are you using MPE in hardware accelerated mode?  There's a mega-thread about this problem; a known issue with OS X 10.9.3 (and maybe .2), solved in the beta for 10.9.4.  Read up.  If it's the same issue, you'll want to disable hardware acceleration for the time being until OS X 10.9.4 is finally released.  Or, you could sign up for the OS X beta.

  • I recently upgraded to 0S 10.6.8 on mab pro and now have pink lines around the desktop borders. A horrible red colour appears in the background of the screen saver, and in parts of Safari and other applications including MS Office. please help

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to SL OS 10.6.8 and now have pink lines around the desktop borders and some menus. There is also a horrible red colour that appears in the background of photobooth and parts of Safari. The screen saver looks like an alien life form with red in the background. There are odd translucent colours in the background of other applications including MS Office. It looks like a horrible psychedilic trip from the 60's. I ran the upgrade again but nothing changed. Can you help?

Backup your files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, under the Utilities menu > Disk Utiltiy > Repair Disk, and Repair Permissions
(quit and stop if Disk Repair (only) issues a failure and notify us)
Quit and install 10.6 again, reboot and Software Update again,  this time download it and then run it. Check Software Update until clear.
c boot off the 10.6 disk and use Disk Utility >Repair Disk again (fixes a bug)
Reboot and check any installed programs, some may not function who have installed kext files into OS X, those need to be reinstalled.
You didn't mention if you upgraded from 10.5 or 10.6.7, the above steps are for fixing a 10.6 to 10.6.8
If you upgraded from 10.5, you should erase the drive in Disk Utility first, then install 10.6 fresh, but then all your programs will have to be reinstalled or updated from original sources.
Also the 10.6.3 upgrade disk has no free iLife, but you can install 10.5 fresh then upgrade to 10.6.3, then to 10.6.8 and then all new programs and that will give free iLife that came on the factory 10.5 disks.
You also can use Pacifist to extract iLife from 10.5 disks.

  • My screen colors are messed. Pink lines. I have tried turning it off and resetting. Any ideas?

My iPad screen has pink lines. The colors are messed up. I have tried resetting and turning it off. Any ideas?

    Did you drop the iPad?
    Did you do this Reset?
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Why do I get weird glitching pink lines in my export?

When I Export from Premiere Pro CC, I almost always get these weird pink lines glitching in the video file accompanied by skipping video...
Usually it happens just at the very beginning of the exported clip, but sometimes it's happened the whole way through.
I am new to Premiere Pro CC, but I am not new to editing.  I have been using FCP professionally for 12 years, but I'm now trying to make the switch to Premiere.  So is there some basic thing that I'm just not doing?  This is literally my first project that I'm trying to do fully in Premiere Pro CC, so I have not seen whether this is happening with other types of footage or not.
For what it's worth, this footage was shot on a C300 and imported natively into premiere.  It is 24p (true 24fps, because I neglected to be specific to the camera operator about actually wanting 23.976), but I've placed it in a 23.976 timeline.  It's from that timeline that I'm doing the export.  I'm operating on a new suped-up Mac Pro "Bullet", so I doubt my hardware is the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

While I'm at it, this particular clip is a 20 minute interview. But every time I try to export the whole thing, I get this message after about 30 seconds:
I can export smaller portions (but then I get the pink glitches).  I've tried a few different formats, and always get the same result. Premiere is not impressing me so far... come on!

  • What is the pink line in the scrubber bar of the viewer?

I'm currently editing a multi cam project and there's a pink line in the scrubber bar of the viewer? At the "in point" of the line there's a triangle on top, at the "end point" there's a triangle on the bottom. Does anyone have any information of what caused it and/or how to get rid of it.
    Thanks

  • Screen Freezes + colour distortion with Green/Pink lines, runs hot!

    Hi,
so my computer has been running very hot recently and at first i though it was the battery, however it says it's in normal condition and has a cycle count of only 110. Then today when i went to go use one of my hot corners the screen froze and turned all grainy, producing green/pink lines all over the display. I tried force quitting and nothing work. I eventually just restarted it. This occurred two more times both while trying to stream videos online within the following two hours.
It basically looks like one of those really old computer video games when it freezes mid-action. All the images becomes distorted and the pixels are blurred, resulting in green and pink horizontal lines all over the display. During this however i am able to move my mouse, and my computer is also especially hot during all of this. While typing i have to move my palms aways every once and while because it gets too hot.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated? This has very nervous as i have a paper to write this weekend and i need my computer.
    Thank-you very much:)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Check in Activity Monitor to see if you have some hung up process running amok and hogging the CPU, which would cause a lot of heat. If you find one, quit it and see if the problem goes away.
It's possible you have the NVIDIA problem:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
If so, the only cure will be to replace the logic board. Fortunately, under this program, it will be done at no cost to you.
Do you have access to an Apple Store? If so, there is a specific test they can run to diagnose this problem.
Also, run the extended version of the Apple Hardware test to be sure you don't have a problem with the fans or thermal sensors. If your fans are not working properly, it's possible that the graphics chip is getting too hot, resulting in the video distortion you are seeing.
In any event, this sounds like a hardware problem that you need to address with Apple as soon as possible.
    Good luck!

  • Vertical faded pink lines and pixelated fonts in the Menu, how to fix?

    Hi there,
I bought my iMac in Jan 2010, and just after my Apple Care expired three years later I started to have some problems I have no idea how to fix, hope someone can help.
When starting the computer, I get either a grey screen (I cannot go further or see anything else), or after starting the computer, seems like only the screensaver works, and if you try to open any menu, you'll get a black screen.
All this happened right after the last update.
I followed all the steps advised by Apple to fix the grey screen, but none of them worked.
I also formatted the hard drive (I was using 10.8) and installed other OS (10.6).
It worked well, except that I got now time vertical faded pink lines right after starting the computer, and the fonts in the menu looks like pixelated, they're not clear. but it only happens with the menu, Safari and other programs look fine.
    Any idea what's going on?

This looks as though you may have a failing GPU.
You can try these resets that may help, but it looks like a hardware failure.
You may want to take it in to an Apple store genius bay, they will diagnose it for free and give you your options.

    You're welcome.
The 6.1.4 update had nothing to do with this. If it did, then every iPhone with 6.1.4 installed would have the same problem.
Apple doesn't support downgrading the firmware, which won't change anything.
If an Apple Store is miles away, then call AppleCare.

  • Pink Line Under Clips in the Timeline

I'm working on my first FCE (4) project, and up until today hadn't captured any DV clips into FCE (I had been importing clips already on the hard drive). Each of the newly captured clips that I've put into the timeline has a pink line underneath. I had gotten warnings after each capture regarding the audio not being in sych. I don't care about the audio, since the captured tapes were video dubs of silent 8mm film to which the dubber had added a music track. I should probably have tried to not capture the music in the first place.
Anyway, what's the significance of the pink line? Can I continue to ignore it? It's not causing me any difficulties.
EDIT: I just noticed that above the clips that I had imported from the hard drive, there is a violet colored line.
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • Pink line down left side of screen?

I recently popped an Arch CD into my newly (sort of) built computer and the install went great. I rebooted, and I was presented with a thin pink line down the left side of my screen. What is this thing (sorry for bad quality pictures. I used a phone camera)?
    Close Up:
    Full Shot:
Notice it only appears after the kernel is done and the bootscripts start:
A few months back, I installed Arch on the same machine with no issues. I also installed Gentoo earlier today and configured X on this PC, and there was no pink line. NOTE: This also appears when I boot the latest live cd.
    Kernel: 2.6.33-ARCH
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1200 onboard
    Monitor connection: HDMI

Maybe a driver problem? You could try an older kernel or the 2.6.34 one in [testing].
I have something similar here on my AppleTV, the whole screen will go pink and then be reset to black during the boot sequence, pretty bizarre, happens with all nVidia GPU drivers (nv, nvidia, nouveau). Not entirely the same thing, but it's pink too...
Yeah what I probably will do is downgrade the kernel to an earlier version, most likely 2.6.32, because that has been known to work for me

I am getting these pink lines in my Premiere Pro projects. This is a shot from the program monitor of a current edit.
It appears randomly and on very different projects of very different spec.
I've tried turning off 'Composite in Linear Color' as I've seen in other threads but it makes no difference. Anyone having the same problem and have you found a a solution?

  • "PX Deq Credit: send blkd" wait event as pink line on EM

    Hi,
We have waits "Other" and see pink lines on EM on a particular query.
Wait type is "PX Deq Credit: send blkd".
After i checked this wait type on google, i learned that this wait happens because of parallel queries.
My question is, we have a lot of queries in our DB but why we see this event type only when selecting from a materialized view? This mv has just 19.000 rows and that is so small when comparing to 100G tables in our 2.5TB db.
What could be the another reason to this pink lines? Do materialized views cause such a thing?
    Thanks in advance,

Re: PX Deq Credit: send blkd At AWR "Top 5 Timed Events"
When you are "selecting from a materialized view" is the MV the only thing in the query, and are you selecting from it with an explicit reference to the MV name ? Or do you mean that you are running queries that in include the MV as one of the tables - perhaps after rewrite ?
MVs do not cause parallel execution. However I would check your parallel execution settings at the database level and the table and index level for this MV; and I would check the statistics on this MV to see if they are consistent with your opinion of its size.
