Pink stripes across bottom of image in LR4

I have had pink stripes occur on four different downloads on LR4. I have been an Aperture user for several years and was making the switch to LR4 but growing concerned with this issue and need to know what is causing it before I continue down this path. I have never had this occur before in Aperture. My hard drive is relatively new, my memory and storage is fine. I did switch to a different card reader to see if it would help.

When I view them in LR4 they have the stripes, but when I save them on my hard drive, the stripes are gone. very strange and very disturbing because I cannot do my any corrections on them in LR4. Attached are photos of my computer screen when LR4 is open and you can see the stripes. Not a great photo but it shows what is happening. I have no idea why it rotated upside down either!

Have you maybe removed all the apps from the dock? the dock is the strip that remains constant and shows the apps that you place there across all sprinboard pages.

Stripes across images!

Recently I recognized a problem in Lightroom 4 (on my MacBook Pro, Early 2011 - newest version of OS X).
I went through my photos, when I suddenly realized stripes across them. They have definitely not been there before! And now the number of destroyed photos gets more all the time.
The issue is not just on my Mac. When I export photos and look at them at another Mac the stripes are still there.
Does anyone know what this might be or how to fix this.

This is most definitely a hardware problem. If the images were fine at a certain point in time, and the stripes appeared later, this would indicate a problem where your hard disk is going bad, or your computer memory is going bad. If the images had these issues on day 1, then it could be either of the previous or the camera card going bad or the card reader/USB cable and USB port going bad.

Why do I get Colored bands on some images in LR4 and LR5, but not in Aperture?

On some images -- both RAW and JPG -- when opened in LR4 or LR5, there will be one or two "curved" color abberation lines across the entire image. This doesn't occur when I open the images in Aperture. Any idea why? Thanks

Aperture works the same way as Lightroom in this respect. It will first show you the embedded jpeg and will render a new conversion from the raw data as soon as it can. So it is possible the OP saw the embedded jpeg, but that should not last long and certainly by now should have been replaced with a newly rendered preview. Either Aperture is more forgiving of a small defect in the raw file or Lightroom import is somehow getting corrupt files of the sd card and Aperture not (would be weird). Another option is that the camera raw cache is corrupt. This can be checked by emptying the cache (Preferences->File Handling->Purge Cache). Lastly, this might be a corrupt preview in Lightroom. Check this by zooming 1:1 on an offending area in the Develop module and seeing if it goes away.

I believe you are right. I remember vaguely that there is some default lens correction with some cameras like this that is independent of the lens correction module. No clue whether the LX7 is one.

Blue or pink stripes appears all over the screen, can't do anything but restart with the button.

I was watching Netflix and all of a sudden, blue stripes appeared in my screen. Then my page seemed to "split" in two and then come back to normal and then there were pink stripes all over the screen and I couldn't see anything else but stripes. I had to restart with the button. It restart correctly, I have been able to watch Netflix again but only on Chrome because on safari it would happen again everytime. Then, iPhoto opened and here we are again, stripes and image "moving", can't help but wait... Then the screen became all white and nothing. I tried to restart it again with the button, but it didn't even made it to the apple interface, juste the sound and then white screen. What is going on, Please? I really need my computer for work this isn't fun!

Don't save. Close the documents.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages 5 will damage/alter older files, something Apple didn't tell its users.
Pages 5 is a severely stripped down version with over 90+ features removed.
We recommend trashing/archiving Pages 5 after Exporting any files you may have saved back to Pages '09.
Also rate/review Pages 5 in the App store.

Images are not "in" Lightroom. Image files are on the hard drive, and the Lightroom edits are in the catalog.
Lr creates a link between the catalog and the image files on the hard drive.
So, there is no need to bring images from one version of Lr to the other.
When you install Lr4 it will find your existing catalog and update it (in fact it updates a copy of the catalog); Lr4 will then "know" where your images are because their location is recorded in the catalog.
It is the unfortunate choice of the word "import" that creates the impression that images are in Lr like eggs in a basket. Nope!

Frequent problem on 2006 17" imac!
Most of the time, it's a defective LCD panel.
To validate if it is the LCD panel or the graphic card, you can take a screen shot (cmd+Shift+3) and see if the problem is visible on the screen shot.
If it is not visible, then it's most likely the LCD panel.
This can be confirmed by connecting an external display to your iMac.
If it works well, then it's the LCD panel that is defective.

Toolbar installed that has caused a blank strip across the top of my facebook page which i cannot click on

I accidentally installed a toolbar i do not want. i think i successfully uninstalled it, but after it was installed, when i go into the facebook app, there is a strip across the top of the facebook page on which i cannot click on to . this strip includes my spot on which i click on to my wall or homepage in facebook. if i move the page down far enough, i can click on other things, but never can i get far enough down to click on these tabs. this only happens in firefox, which i prefer wayyy over google chrome for gaming. do i need to delete firefox and reinstall? please help!

Recently, the Yahoo Toolbar and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause that problem. They seem to overlap invisibly over the top of the web page display. If you have either or both, uninstall or disable them/it, or see if an update is available that solves the problem.

Unable to move image from LR4 to CS6

This process works fine on my desktop but when I try to move an image from LR4.4 to CS6 on my new Lenovo laptop (Windows 7) nothing opens and I freeze up.

Your process sounds reasonable (I tend to right-click > edit in). I am assuming that PS CS6 works when launched independently of LR. Some troubleshooting ideas to try:
Check and modify Edit > Preferences > External Editing > Edit in... settings [general troubleshoot]
Add PS CS6 as the Additional External Editor in Edit > Preferences > External Editing > Additional External Editor and try using this instead – LR will moan about this being a duplicate [general troubleshoot]
Try the process using a different user account [troubleshoot user related config issue]
Repair (or reinstall) Photoshop CS6: Control Panel > Programs and Features > Adobe Photoshop CS6 > Repair [restore LR/PS interface config]

Trouble Downloading Images to LR4

I am using a USB card reader to download images to LR4. When I plug the reader into the USB port I get an error message saying, "images on card do not meet download criteria". The thumbnails appear in Library mode but when I click on "Import", another error message appears saying the files could not be read.
As recently as last week I successfully downloaded images from the same card. As usual I reformatted the card before going on today's shoot. Does anybody have any idea what might be going on here? Thanks

Try and download the file outside the Lightroom and then import in Lightroom
There can be issues on several hardwares where you cant import the files from usb sticks.

White infomation strips across the top

White infomation strips across the top of the screen . . . I edited my clips in Final Cut . . . Made a Quick Time Movie and imported into iMovie to set the chapter markers for sharing with iDVD . . . Now when I play the clip the program inserts this white line at the top telling me where every Trasition, Cut . . . etc was made in FC and I can't find where to turn this line off so I can go to iDVD . . . Help!!!!!

Quit iMovie.
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and get rid of it. iMovie will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash.
The files are located here:

Then do the same for Quicktime:
Quit QuickTime.
Locate a file named com.apple.quicktime.plist and get rid of it. QuickTime will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash

Once that is done, (and this is most important) run a permissions repair from the Disk Utility folder. The re-boot.

I have Aperture 2.1.4 on iMac OS X 10.4.1. I am getting a pattern across the entire image after clicking on a image in the browser in all projects.

Images look fine in Browser. When I click to enlarge I get a pattern across the entire image. This is true in all projects.
Out of curiosity when I sent the image via email w pattern showing on screen the email is fine-no pattern.

This may be an issue with the pde plugins. PDE stands for print dialog extension and are included with vendor drivers to provide access to printer features not supported by the core printing system. If you are using a Power PC driver (or sharing it from the G4 to the MacTel) then that may be a possible cause. See if HP offers a Universal Binary driver for your model.
