Pinnacle installation on Qosmio G20

Im trying to install the pinnacle studio 9 on my Qosmio G20, but when u double click on the setup.exe, the arrow with the hourglass starts turning, it waits about 5 secs, as if the install wizard is about to launch, but then just does nothing. Theres nothing wrong with the install product, as ive just tested it on my other notebook, and works perfect! Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance!

Hi
I hope that you use original product. If you check the content of this CD there is probably many different folders. Are you able to click into any of these folders? Can you see the content of whole CD?
Try also to check task manager and all running processes. Maybe is the some process already started and it will not start second time. Restart the unit and try it again.
The latest solution is pinnacle support. Toshiba has nothing to do with usage of non Toshiba applications.

    Hello
It is not easy to give you some precise information about units from Japan. I am not familiar with units produced in Asia and it will be interesting to know which components are built in.
The only thing that I can recommend you is to check Installations instructions http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/qosmio/g20/xp/install-qog20-xp-na.zip and install all stuff listed there and be careful about installations order.

  • Graphic driver installation problems - Qosmio G20 PQG21

Attempting to install latest graphic driver (available on the toshiba u.k. site) produces an error message that file NV4_mini.sy is unreadable, although it is clearly there. Any ideas?
I've tried downloading several times and unzipping into various locations. Incidentally, do toshiba have any technical support at all, or is it left to their customers to provide it for each other for free - they don't seem to have any method of contact on their site?

Thanks for your suggestions, which I will try. In answer to your questions. The driver is the correct one according to Tosiba and the model ID is clearly marked on the underside of the laptop.
The problem appears to revolve around the installer's inability to recognise a required file although there is a file of the correct name in the download. It would be nice if Toshiba addressed thid issue - wouldn't it? I am aware of the installation procedure for .zip file downloads - the problem is not in this area.

  • Qosmio G20 = Component Video Cable and High Definition Videos With Pinnacle

    Dear Everybody
I bought my Qosmio G20-120 from Poland which came with D-video to Scart cable. This cable is only capable of transferring Video (CVBS) signals which is pretty useless because Qoismio has S-Video Output already... Which is better than simple Video Output that I can get from Scart.
According to www.toshiba-europe.com Qoismio has supposed to have Component Video output. But it comes with Scart cable instead. I am still trying to get this Component Video to D-Video cable from the distributor. If I wont succeed, does anybody know if and where I can buy this cable in Europe? Or is it possible to make a component video to D-video cable out of D-Video to Scart cable?
As last did anybody try the high definition DVB-S channels on Qoismio by using USB 2.0 DVB-S TV Card.Any opinions about Pinnacle PCTV 400e ??
    Thank You

Yes I do live in Europe. But who says that Component Video Cable is a standart from USA or Japan. I have been using Component Video Cables to connect my DVD Player with my video projector since 2002. Component Video Cables are wisely used in Europe. And its the ONLY analogue way of transferring HD-Video (Plus DVI and HDMI)
What disturbs me alot is that on www.toshiba-europe.com they explain that my computer has:
    Interfaces 1 x headphone
    1 x DC-in
    1 x line-in
    1 x external monitor
    1 x RJ-11
    1 x RJ-45
    1 x i.LINK (IEEE 1394)
    4 x USB 2.0
    1 x Monitor-in (line-in port)
    1 x TV-antenna
    1 x S-Video-in (Composite/Line-in)
    1 x TV-out (s-video, Component-out))
1 x 5-in-1 Bridge Media slot (supports SD Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, xD-Picture Card)
Where is the Component-out ???Promise is a promise. Why do they say it if they dont give it?
Instruction manual also says that : D-Video port lets you transfer 525i(480i),525p(480p),1125i(1080i) or 750p(720p) data to external devices.
How can you transfer 720p with a Scart Cable?? It is impossible.... The only way that Qosmio can transfer 1280x720 picture is a Component Video cable.(Because it has no DVI port) How much does this cable cost anyway?? But the problem is NOBODY is producing it in Europe. I am writing to Toshiba-Japan. Since they are saying that my computer has Component-out so they must get me the cable....

  • Re: Qosmio G20 - multimedia video controller installation

    Hi friends
I have tried to install my Qosmio G20 Windows XP (MCE) with PCI device ..
    PCI multimedia video controller.
    USB device.
I installed it manually and mapped the driver path to "C:/ tools cd "
It gives me an reply that the no driver is found for the device and get finished..
So what I am suppose to do now and make it work...
    tanx in advance
    Raja

If you ran Toshiba Recovery, then the drivers should be in C:\TOSAPINS
But running recovery should install all the required drivers automatically.
I am guessing that its the TV Tuner, so go to the Toshiba website and install the TV Tuner Driver.
If that doesnt work, tell us the VEN and DEV numbers
For XP: Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
For Vista: Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager.
Right-Click on the Unknown Device, and select "Properties".
Go to the "Details" Tab, select "Device Instance ID" or "Hardware Ids" in the dropdown list.
You will see something like PCI\VEN_????
The VEN_ number is the Vendor or Manufacturer. For example:
    8086 = Intel
    10EC = Realtek
    168C = Atheros
    14E4 = Broadcom
    1022 = AMD
    1106 = VIA
    11AB = Marvell Yukon

  • Qosmio G20 Vista drivers? Not needed to install Windows Vista

    Hello,
I am new at this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in Brazil. I own a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
To do this, you must perform a fresh install of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100),for audio (Soundmax), for TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (toshiba modem), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install Toshiba nvidia display driver, Toshiba Bluetooth (monitor and stack), Toshiba texas flash media driver, toshiba RAID (driver and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.
Below some pictures of my G20 Desktop screen:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen1.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen2.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen3.jpg
And here is an example of using deskscapes animated backgrounds with Windows Vista, called dreamscene.
    It is in paused mode
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/myqosmiog20screen4.jpg
To perform a fresh install of windows Vista:
Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar
    1. Copy the contents of this archive onto a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    3. Power on your computer and press F12 to display the boot menu.
    4. Choose the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    5. On the first setup screen, choose your language options then press "Next".
    6. Press "Install Now".
    7. Type in your Product Key then press "Next".
    8. Accept the license terms by checking the box then press "Next".
    9. When asked "What type of installation do you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    10. When asked "Where do you want to install Windows", make sure your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, then click on "Load Driver".
    11. Browse to the location you have copied the RAID drivers to then press "OK".
    12. Setup will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
    13. Make sure the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected then press "Next".
    14. Continue the installation of Windows Vista as normal.
Now you will need the Toshiba drivers for your Qosmio G20:
    See the Device manager info:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmiodrivers1.jpg
    Drivers:
    1. SD memory controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/SD_memory.rar
    2. Bluetooth monitor and stack
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_mon.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
    4. Texas FlashMedia controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/flasmedia.rar
    And finally the Toshiba utilities:
    Toshiba Configfree
    Toshiba Assist
    RAID utilities
    Remote control manager
    Toshiba SD Memory utilities
    That's it...
So I must tell to you that Toshiba Qosmio G20 is Windows Vista Ultimate capable, indeed.
Hope this helps people who need and want to install Windows Vista Aero on their Qosmio G20 machines.

3.Download and copy the Toshiba RAID drivers to a removable media
Please, download the Toshiba RAID drivers from here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/raid.rar

    6. Reboot your machine and follow with the steps below.
    DRIVERS YOU MUST INSTALL:
    1. Alps pointing device driver (This is from Alps and working fine with your Qosmio G20)
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/alpsdriver.rar
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmioalps.jpg
During the installation, Windows will complain that you are installing an early device driver. Do not attempt to this, Install it anyway.
This is because the Windows driver for this device is originally installed with a more recent date and version from that you are trying to install.
But the driver posting here is the correct from the Alps for your Qosmio g20.

    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/bluetooth_stack.rar
    3. Nvidia display driver GeForce Go 6600
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidia97.52.rar
To install the nvidia 97.52, you must do it manually:
    open the Device manager
look for the Video adapter/nvidia Gforce go6600
    Driver update options
Look for a driver in computer
Choose a list of device drivers in computer
    With disc...
Lool for the place you've extracted the nvidia 97.52.rar
Find the nvts.inf and open it
You will come to the following screen:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmionvidiainstall.jpg
From a list choose your video card (go6600) and install it.
If you think it is difficult, please see the VIDEO Nvidiainstall.avi:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/nvidiainstall.rar
After the extraction, play it with Windows media Player
    4. Texas FlashMedia controller
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/flasmedia.rar
5.SoundMAX integrated digital audio. Driver 5.12.1.5410
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/drivers/soundmax5.12.1.5410.rar
run the setup.exe and at first remove the driver you have installed on your Qosmio G20.
    reboot the computer
Run the setup.exe again and install the new driver. At some install point, Windows Vista will need a confirmation, if you trust Analog devices incorporated to goes on..
    http://www.rabayjr.com/vista/qosmiosoundmaxinstall.jpg
Continue with the installation and after finishing the process, test the functionallity of the new driver
    OR
If your G20 model is using the Sigmatel HD audio chipset, so you must install other driver than the Soundmax integrated digital audio
It is the SigmaTel HD Audio Driver for Windows Vista Version: 6.10.0.5324

  • Qosmio G20-102: RAID problem when installing windows xp media center

First I didn't find the raid driver for my qosmio. I tried another Qosmio G20's RAID driver but when it reachs the stage when I ask windows to format the C driver it shows me an error. It says that it finds an error in the file KR10N and it ends there.
please help me and thank you.

    Hi
It seems that the Qosmio G20-102 belongs to the PQG20E series.
Searching on the Toshiba European driver page I found the RAID driver v1.03.0008 for Windows XP MCE (can be used also with XP Pro).
You will need an external USB FDD to include this driver into the OS.
But note; after the RAID driver installation you shouldnt format the HDD or create a new partition because this will delete the RAID driver from the HDD and the OS installation fails!
I hope I could help you would also appreciate a feedback ;)
    Best regards

I use a box for free tv through S-VIDEO.
    The images quality is excellent.
    I think just the G30 can receive(perhaps...!) the dab-tv.

  • Qosmio G20 boot problem

I have Qosmio G20 notebook, I got error message that my WinXP lost some system file and didn't boot. I tried to boot from new WinXP (I lost rescue disk), but my installation program hunged up after 1 minute.
I tried several other bootable disks including Linux but failed. I suspect that problem in BIOS, I downloaded BIOS from Toshiba site, but I didn't find any PDF files with instruction how to create bootable CD for BIOS updating mentioned on Toshiba site.
Maybe problem is in CD/DVD recoder.
What is alternative way to boot my Qosmio G20, I have no USB floppy?

To be honest I cannot imagine the BIOS can be responsible for described issue. It can really be HDD problem. Maybe some bad sectors? It is pretty suspect that Linux installation failed too.

  • Downloading and Installing Tuner driver - Qosmio G20

Excuse my ignorance, but I have downloaded a zip folder from the Toshiba site containing files for installing a tv tuner driver(date last modified 11.24.05) for my Qosmio G20 - 139(PQG21E-01500NEN). The instructions say: '...check the contents of the zip file for installation details', but I cannot find/recognise a file that offers such instructions (there are a few I've clicked on that offer up a warning about opening files, so, being a novice in these things, I chose not to continue).
Can anyone advise me upon what file contains installation instructions, or how I should go about installing this driver?
Thanks in advance for any help given.

Hello Feliks. Thank you for your reply. To try and answer your questions:
    1) I am not really sure the TV Tuner must be installed. I, in my innocence, thought it might be an update.
    2) Under Device Manager entries (and thank you for telling me where to look!) there is a listing: TOSHIBA PCI DVB-T/Analogue Hybred Tuner.
I am presuming this is the entry that relates to the TV Tuner. I tried updating the driver from there (just out of interest) by entering the path to where the dowloaded driver resides, and the message I got was (paraphrasing) 'No newer version of the driver already installed found'
So, perhaps I've just been leading myself (and those who have tried to help) up the garden path.
Once again, thank you for your help.

  • Qosmio G20 and Windows 7

    Hi there,
I've got an old Qosmio G20-115 that uses the RAID controller for the two hard disks. I've tried installing both Windows 7 (RC1) and Windows Vista but I'm always getting stuck at the point of Windows installation detecting the hard drives. After reading various reports from this forum and other sources around the web, I've tried on numerous occassions to get the installation to detect the disks using drivers from various different sources but to no avail.
Is there something more fundamental I'm getting wrong? What should the RAID settings be set to in the BIOS when trying to install an OS? Has anyone managed to get Windows 7 (RC1) working on their G20? Has anyone got some drivers that they've tested and managed to get Vista/Windows 7 onto their G20-115s?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Boarder,
Thanks for your reply. The G20 is old, but the hardware (aside from the RAID controller) is still very generic isn't it? Is there a specific piece that won't work with Windows 7?
List of drivers I've tried so far (both XP & vista)

All to no avail. I've even tried installing Vista but keep getting the exact same issue - none of the drivers seem to pick up the hard drives.
    Thanks.

  • Qosmio G20 - Wireless Connection using Thomson 580 Router

    Hi,
I am having trouble using the above Wireless router with my laptop. It all works fine with the 'wire' connected (i.e. the ethernet cable) but not without (using the cable defeats the object of having a wirleless router!) However when I remove the cable it does not recognise a connection - any ideas ? (warning: I'm abit of a novice so please treat me gently i.e. not too technical !) In case it is relevant I am in the UK using AOL (but I have checked compatibility with them and they have said the problem lies with my laptop or the router)
    Thanks,
    Elijah

    Hi
Firstly the WLan configuration is very complex and depends on different settings.
The Qosmio G20 works with both WLan standards: 802.11b and 802.11g.
    The g standard is faster.
However, its very important to configure the WLan router. Usually you should receive the router manual together with the router. Check the router installation procedure and the WLan options.
On the unit the Wlan card should be enabled. Check the hardware switch on the notebook side and also the key combination FN+F8.
If you use the Windows to configure the Wlan you should enable the option in the WLan properties under Wireless Networks tab.
If you use the WEP encryption you should configure this. If the MAC address filtering is enabled on the router you have to insert the WLan card MAC address in the router table.
But all this information you should find in the router manual. Check it!!!
    Good luck

  • Qosmio G20: Questions about MCE Recovery CD/DVD

I bought this Qosmio G20 laptop few months back. Its cool. I live in Asia where media centre edition is not launched with this series. I have a Windows XP home edition with this laptop. Can anyone tell me whether its possible for me to format this OS and install MCE on this laptop? And where could I get media centre edition's recovery cd/dvd ? What is the procedure to install Media Centre Edition from recovery cd if I get one? And anyone would like to share their media centre edition recovery cd with me would be great.
pls contact me on this email address [email protected]
    Thank you very much (:

    Hi
In my opinion the only solution is to install Microsoft WMCE (full version). I dont believe that you will be able to get original recovery DVD because the hardware is bundled with software and you can just order the same if you lose one.
Like I said you can try to install full version but you must be careful because this unit support RAID and you must install RAID driver at the beginning. The Qosmio player should also be installed before you start to install MCE. Please check Qosmio area on this forum and you will find a lot of useful topics about Qosmio G20 installation.
    Use also option Advanced search.
    Good luck!

  • Qosmio G20-156: clean install??

    Hello,
I am new to the notebook arena and am a proud owner of the fantastic Qosmio G20-156.
I was just wondering what would people recommend to do first thing when you recieve it.. with regards to sofware & operating system; Is it a good idea to run a clean install of Windows and format the HDD? The reason I ask is because some laptops come with a lot of junkware? If so, is it a straightforward process using the recovery disks or would I just be opening Pandora's box of possible complications?
I am fairly competent with installing drivers etc!
    Any advice much appreciated!!

    Hi
Well, its nice that you are competent with driver installation but that is not all what you have to know.
This unit uses a RAID technology and you have to install also the RAID drivers, etc
I dont recommend to format anything or to install the new OS. Many Toshiba programs and applications are installed on the new Qosmio because its a high-end notebook with many features. The newest features need these applications.
But of course its your unit and you decided what and how is running on your notebook.
I this case you can use the Toshiba image and you can remove some programs from the notebook in Add and remove programs
    This is a easiest way.
