Pinned Items in Starboard Disappear

We are noticing that customizations to the Starboard do not persist. The behavior is inconsistent but after enough time items will start to disappear. In some cases gaps are left in the tile the item was pinned to. In some cases the raindrop appears in
the tile that had the pinned item. Is this a known issue? Estimates of resolution would be appreciated if that's the case.

hi ,
Thanks for your feedback.
Currently, azure preview portal is preview version and no support approach. For this issue, I will report it form my side.
Thanks for your understanding.

  • Remove Powershell Pinned Item from taskbar for all users in 2008 R2 RDS server

    Im trying to remove the Powershell Pinned Item from the taskbar on a 2008 RDS server. I have setup a mandatory porfile from a 2008 SP2 server (because you cannot do this in R2 any more), Check the default user pinned items folder, check the registry for powershell.exe, loaded up the NTUSER.DAT file for default to see if any thing obious was there, tried some logon scripts that are suppose to remove pinned items and posted on several forums. This has to be one of the simplest dumb things i have ever worked on , and its been about a week. So how do i remove it?
    P.S.
    having the user click un pinn is not a solution
    yes i have checked C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

    Hi Jeramy,
    The default pinned items are created the first time a user logs in. Modifying the default user profile won’t help here.
    The easiest option is to set the “Remove pinned programs from the Taskbar” to disable taskbar pinned items altogether. The default pinned items won’t show up, but the user won’t be able to pin anything else either.
    If you don't want to disable pinning altogether the solution is a little more complicated. One option is to remove the shortcuts “Accessories\Windows PowerShell\Windows PowerShell.lnk” and “Administrative Tools\Server Manager.lnk” from the common start menu folder. These shortcuts are copied to create the pinned items. If they aren’t present they can’t be pinned. This is not a supported option but it may work.
    Another option is to use IStartMenuPinnedList::RemoveFromList in a first run script to remove the pinned items. Not sure how reliable this would be due to the timing of when the default items are added compared to when the script would run.
    One other option is to use shell scripting to invoke the pin & unpin verbs on items:
    http://blogs.technet.com/deploymentguys/archive/2009/04/08/pin-items-to-the-start-menu-or-windows-7-taskbar-via-script.aspx
    This would need to be done when the user first logs in (since unpinning default items in the default user profile won't affect each new user account), but it also need to be timed after Explorer sets up the default pinned items as explained above.
    Hope one of these options work for you!

  • Modify the TFS 2013 Web access Home screen to increase the area of Pinned Items

    Hi All,
    We have a unique requirement to modify the TFS 2013 Web access Home screen to increase the area of Pinned Items, as of now it is coming as 4*X tile row column but we might need that to see it as 8*X tile. Is it possible to change the home page and modify
    the way it looks now or customize the home screen?
    Please find below screenshot link for your reference.

  • Remove default pinned items from taskbar with gpo/p

    I have created a custom windows 7 pro image through audit mode and then sysprepped it.  Upon new user login, I notice that the three default taskbar items (IE, WMP, Explorer) are still there.  How can I get rid of these with a gpo/p?
    And yes, the CopyProfile tag is set to true in my sysprep.xml file.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    As far as I know, there is a Group Policy setting to change the Pin behavior.
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\Remove pinned programs from the taskbar
    The pinned item information are saved in the following locations:
    File System:
    %APPDATA%\\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
    Registry:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband]
    Hope this helps. Thanks.
    Dale
    No Dale, that does not help me.  If I enable that gpo, it will prevent users from pinning items to the taskbar, we need our users to have that ability.
    And if you delete the .lnk files from
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband]
      it does not remove them from the taskbar, actually all it does is make it an unusable shortcut with no target.
    And there is nothing in that registry key that is useful.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Windows 8 - Number of Pinned Items

    Hi,
    In Windows 7, there was an increased number of items (10 I think) in the "pinned jump list",
    yet on Windows 8 it is only allowing 3 items to be pinned to the jump list on each program.
    Is there anyway to increase the number of pinned items in Windows 8 for each program that's pinned to the taskbar as I like to have more items on the pinned list - just not the "frequently used" as this can change from time to time and I want the
    pinned items that I use all the time.
    Any guidance would be great. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Jamie

    Glad to hear you sort it out.

  • My pinned apps tabs keep disappearing. They will stay for a week or so, then all of a sudden they're gone. I checked the forums and everything that was suggested there, I did or un-did. But there's no point in having the tabs if they don't stay.

    My pinned apps tabs keep disappearing. They will be there for a week or so, then they just aren't there the next time I open the browser. My settings seem to be OK, i.e. no clearing of history, etc.
    It's frustrating because then I have to go through the whole process of pinning everything as app tabs again.

    Try the suggestion in this thread: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/840901 instead of the garbage above. You would think mozdevs who actually know a solution to this problem would post the solution in all the relevant threads.
    If it doesnt work too, I'm ready to get rid of FF as my primary browser.
    Why bother providing a feature thats buggy ?? I once wasted my time pinning 20 apps over and over again till I realized it was poorly written and unsupported.

  • Mail.app multiple acct all items in inbox disappeared without a trace

    Mail.app with multiple acct all items in inbox disappeared without a trace
    iCould account
    gmail account
    exchange account
    In all accounts, the Inbox contents totally disappeared, gone without a trace.  Inbox shows 0MB used for each account.  The trash had stuff in it but it didn't have the inbox items.  Get Account Info shows all the other folders have items but nothing the side of the inbox.  What was werid was my mac was running slow even with an SSD things were crawling.  I noticed mail Activity window was processing but thought it standard processing, updating inbox etc.

    Well thank goodness for time machine.  I was in mail app and clicked on time machine I was able to recover 2 inboxes, one with ~3400 and other with ~1800 messages.  However, time machine is now stuck for over 12 hours on 30,682 messages.  I was able to go back to a few days ago, it loaded all the messages. I was then able to select all of them (I pressed cmd-a) and in a few hours it was then able to process the select all and show me the restore button much like the other two small mail boxes.  But its been stuck at the "Click Restore to recover the 30682 selected messages" screen.  The 12+ hours its been busy hammering away at the disk and CPU.  From what I can see, it may just be trying to process it all.  The previous two smaller restores worked so I'm hoping this one works too.

  • Footer runs over pinned items

    I have a master page with a footer and other pages that have pinned items.  When you scroll to the bottom of the pages, the footer runs up behind the pinned items.  Is there any way to stop the footer just below the pinned items so everything doesn't run together?
    http://mcculleycompanies1.bethanyweberdesign.com/retirement-plans.html
    Above is a link with an example of the problem I am having.  When the browser is small, the footer and pinned items run together.

    Firstly it might be worth checking your layers panel and object levels and make sure that both your header and footer is placed above everything else, that way at least your page content will go behind the footer and not look as odd running over the top of it.
    Regarding making your page footer stop before it hits your content, I think this is down to screen size and resolution, I am working on a 27 inch mac and it works fine for me, the footer stops well before it hits the content of the page, however if I reduce my browser window then indeed the footer starts to work its way into the text.
    For the type of web design you are working with its best to work within the typical screen resolutions, try this website out for help regarding that…
    http://www.hobo-web.co.uk/best-screen-size/
    Otherwise it will be a case of letting the footer cover a small amount of the pinned content on the page, but if you at least make sure that content falls behind the footer it wont look as odd.
    Hope that helps.

  • Pinned items with the shortcuts in it backup

    In Windows 7 the pinned items for a user can be backupped. But that are only the shortcuts. Is it possible to backup the shortcuts but also the documents that are attached to it to another user account?
    For example Microsoft Excel and Word, i have a lot of documents attached to it so rightclick and open that document. When i backup the pinned items (files and registry) that documents are not backedup? is there a way to do that?
    freddie

    Hi freddie,
    Based on my knowledge, there is no Windows built-in feature to achieve what you want. You can only back up the shortcuts of the programs. It is by design.
    Windows Backup won't back up the following items:
    a. Program files (files that define themselves as part of a program in the registry when the program is installed).
    b. Files stored on hard disks that are formatted using the FAT file system.
    c. Files that are in the Recycle Bin.
    d. Temporary files on drives smaller than 1 GB.
    As you know, recent documents for Windows 7 is located under here:
    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent
    Hope it helps.

  • Items in toolbar disappear

    Lately I've noticed that when I open Safari Browser, items in my toolbar (back/forward, Home, Print, etc.) disappear. It happened few times. I had to reinstall them by using Customize Toolbar function. Any ideas what can be the cause?

    Which version are you using?

  • Pin items to Windows 8 Taskbar

    Guys.
    I found this powershell function on the internet for adding items to the taskbar on Windows 7\8 The function works fine when running it against a single item
    for example
    Pin-Taskbar -Item "C:\Windows\System32\mspaint.exe" -Action Pin
    What I am trying to do is add multiple items to the taskbar in one go. As an example a user over time adds many items. I have another script that backs everything that is in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User
    Pinned\TaskBar up to a network share. I would then like the script below to add everything in say
    \\Servername\some_share and add them to the Taskbar.
    Have been playing around with the script but not quite getting there. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance
    function Pin-Taskbar([string]$Item = "",[string]$Action = ""){
        if($Item -eq ""){
            Write-Error -Message "You need to specify an item" -ErrorAction Stop
        if($Action -eq ""){
            Write-Error -Message "You need to specify an action: Pin or Unpin" -ErrorAction Stop
        if((Get-Item -Path $Item -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue) -eq $null){
            Write-Error -Message "$Item not found" -ErrorAction Stop
        $Shell = New-Object -ComObject "Shell.Application"
        $ItemParent = Split-Path -Path $Item -Parent
        $ItemLeaf = Split-Path -Path $Item -Leaf
        $Folder = $Shell.NameSpace($ItemParent)
        $ItemObject = $Folder.ParseName($ItemLeaf)
        $Verbs = $ItemObject.Verbs()
        switch($Action){
            "Pin"   {$Verb = $Verbs | Where-Object -Property Name -EQ "Pin to Tas&kbar"}
            "Unpin" {$Verb = $Verbs | Where-Object -Property Name -EQ "Unpin from Tas&kbar"}
            default {Write-Error -Message "Invalid action, should be Pin or Unpin" -ErrorAction Stop}
        if($Verb -eq $null){
            Write-Error -Message "That action is not currently available on this item" -ErrorAction Stop
        } else {
            $Result = $Verb.DoIt()

  • Items moved to deleted items folder are disappearing

    By boss currently has an issue with e-mails received in Mail on his computer and moved to the trash folder are disappearing after a certain timeframe. His e-mail account is set up as IMAP and under user preferences/mailbox behaviors under "Trash" both move deleted items to trash and store deleted items on server are checked. Permanently erase deleted messages it set at never. (he likes to keep deleted messages for reference)
    I have access to his e-mail on my computer(his e-mail is set up as a separate account) and the settings are set up identical to those on his computer. My e-mail is set up as POP3- the move deleted items to trash mailbox is checked and permanently erase deleted messages is set at after 30 days. Could this cause his e-mails to delete after 30 days as well?

    The problem is recurring. All devices are using Mail- preferences are set to never remove deleted messages. I have contacted our e-mail host (Bluehost) to verify that nothing is triggering the deletions on their end and they insist there isn't.
