Pioneer AV Receiver connection for surround sound

How would I be able to setup for a 5.1 sound output from the iMac to a pioneer AV receiver? I am only getting a 2.1 output always. I used to play the same video with a 5.1 output from a PC. However, am not able to do the same with my new iMac (late 2010 model). I connected my iMac from the miniDisplay port to the receiver using a HDMI adapter.

Well as of now since the macbooks dont have HDMI, the way to get the best quality audio is over optical.

Xfinity X1 - TV Sound Cuts In And Out When Connected to Surround Sound Receiver

I'm a fairly new Comcast Xfinint X1 TV and Internet subscriber. I am experiencing issues with TV sound cutting in and out. The sound cuts out for 2-3 seconds, all the time. The Onkyo surround sound receiver has been used without issue on a different cable TV platform so I know there is nothing wrong with the receiver. System set-up. Voice/data modem - Arris Interactive, LLC - tg862gCable Box - Make/Model - PA px001ancSurround Sound Receiver - Onkyo TX-NR609 HDMI cable run from cable box to Onkyo receiver. HDMI cable run from Onkyo receiver to TV. I have reset all equipment multiple times with no resolution. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is very difficult when trying to watch TV.

I highly doubt your modem has anything to do with this because it doesn't have MoCA.However it sounds like you an original green power light Pace DVRs and they are well known to have audio dropout issues. I would replace that DVR with a different version.
Is this problem happening on a specific channel? CBS seems to be having issues lately. I am watching the CMA awards right now and I have heard the volume change a couple times but this is the only channel it is happening on which would suggest it is not Comcast's fault.

Connecting to Surround Sound (Qosmio G20)

I am trying to connect my Qosmio G20 to my external surround sound sysytem via an amp.
As far as I know I have connected everything correctly, but I am only getting sound from my left speakers front and rear, no where else.
I have checked the speakers and all the settings I can think of on the laptop, is there something I am not doing in order to send the signal to all the speakers??

Setting Up Cable Box for Surround Sound

I have a Pace Set Top box, the T-7900 speakers and the Audigy 2 ZS.
The Pace box has a left and right output and a digital optical output. Is there anyway of setting up this system to enable surround sound?
I could obtain a 3.5mm converter to connect the L and R to the wired remote. If I used the CMSS 3D feature of the Audigy would the sound then be in surround?
I hope this is understandable!

You'd have to have the Y-adapter input into the Audigy to use the CMSS, I think. Inputting it through the T7700 line-in will have it play stereo.

Trouble exporting for surround sound

I have the 6 files in my timeline as provided by the audio facility. I export each file seperatley then assign the proper speakers in Compressor. After this it still doesnt sound right.
I've been reading on the fourm and the manual but I'm still unclear as to the audio output settings for my sequence. I've tried setting to 6 outputs in both "dual mono" and "stereo". Am I missing a step or setting somewhere? Can someone give a step by step?

By saying it doesn't sound right, it seems liek the mix was off. I think initialy I exported out of FCP wrong. First off, I exported as a QT movie (audio only) and I think each of the six channels was a stereo mix, which made it sound basically mono.
I called the audio engineer to confirm the speaker selection. Then last night I exported each individual channel as an .aif , ending up with six .aif files.. Then assigned the proper speaker assignments in compressor (import Surround sound group). I then encoded with the 5.1 compressor setting. I wasnt able to play it yet because it was 2am...the wife wouldn't ahve appreciated that .
Does this sound like a proper workflow?

Looking for surround sound

I have a set of 5.1 speakers for my computer, but I am only getting stereo sound from the Front L/R and Sub channels when listening to music(mp3's). I've read this is because this format is for stereo sound only and so it won't play on the other channels.
So I was looking into getting the Creative DDTS Decoder. This should ouput any sound from my computer and other devices to full surround sound right? Is there any alternative to this? I would think that there are sound cards out there that would do this, I have an older model Soundblaster Live! series card currently. Any help with my situation?

Through the Creative AutoUpdate check (and using the model # SB000) it looks like I have the Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card. I just did an upgrade installing the Sound Blaster Live! package, but that did not include the Playcenter app that nvidiot was referring to.
Should I download the Playcenter download for Creative Sound Blaster Live! cards (ver 3.02.70) to find this CMSS option?

Soundcard for surround sound

I have a G5 tower, I didn't get a seperate sound card for it, but would I need one in order to design a soundtrack to be 5.1?
I want to map certain sound clips to front, back, sub, etc. can I do thise without a 3rd party soundcard or do I need something else, (does STP) even handle surround sound mapping?

STP doesn't support surround sound actually. There's some workarounds, particularly using buses but it's not very elegant. Hopefully, the next version of Soundtrack Pro will include that because surround sound is the future of post-prod.
If you want do to surround sound now, you could check Logic Pro, altough it's a bit overkill for your needs; or Digital Performer, altough it's CPU-hungry.
Of course, you will need an audio interface with multi-outs, I'd suggest you check the Focusrite Saffire. You will also need a surround monitor system, if you don't want to spend too much, you could check some M-Audio speakers. I'd rather use Mackie 624 but they're not in the same price range!

PC/TV HDMI connection for both sound and vision

I understand that you are trying to connect an SPDIF cable from your TV to your computer's graphics card. This cable is not something that will connect to your motherboard it is for the connection from our TV to your computer. There is no connection for this type of cable on your motherboard.

Macbook pro - onkyo AV receiver... best connection for optimal sound?

was curious what the optimal connection would be from my macbook pro to my AV receiver. the receiver is an onkyo HT-R640 with HDMI and digital optical connections. thanks for any advice!!

Reflection of the received Signal for Channel Sounding

I am trying to use a USP NI 2920, under Labview control, in order to make a sort of channel sounding. The USRP generates a pseudonoise (PN) sequence that BPSK modulate the carrier sent to a TX antenna. The same USRP runs a receiver process that acquire the signal form RX antenna, demodulate it and correlate it with a copy of the PN. so now my problem is that the received signal is from the LOS but i want the received reflected signal too so how can i get it and represent it I hope any help would be appericated

I want to export a video file with 6 mono track for surround sound and the 7th track to be stereo.

I want to give my friend a video file, so when he imports it into avid, premiere, final cut etc. he would recieve 6 mono tracks (L,R,C,LE,Ls,Rs) and the last one to be stereo. but every time i export it comes as 7 mono tracks. and in the setting thats the only option

i think you would have to go with 8 mono tracks, 6 for the 5.1 mix and 2 more for the stereo. that or try to use 4 stereo pairs, but that would combine parts of the 6 mono (5.1 mix).

if you have a 6th or 7th gen classic, you'll have a have the video out cable from apple. only the 5th gen will play with a generic 3 connector video out cable.

Not able to get the sound from my tv to come through my surround sound speakers

I have a new Samsung 46" tv and a new yamaha receiver also a new Samsung blu-ray player. I currently have an HDMI cable going from my tv to my receiver and a short HDMI cable going to my Blu-ray player and the old style red and white rca cables from my tv to my receiver. The surround sound works great when playing the blu-ray but no luck when watching regular tv. I have tried to change the tv speakers to external speakers but all is silent when i do that. When i purchased the equipment from best buy i told them what all i was trying to accomplish and this is the exact way i was told to make the connections keep in mind i know nothing when it comes to electronics so i wrote the instructions from the salesrep word for word. Here is what I have. My tv is located on one side of the room and receiver and blu-ray on the other about 25' from each other. I have regular cable coming to the tv and I have an HDMI cable coming from HDMI (DVI- IN) on the tv to HDMI(OUT) on my RX-V367 receiver. the i have a short HDMI cable going from my receiver (HDMI/DVD) to my blu-ray (HDMI out). My RCA cables came into play when I told the rep. that I wanted my tv sound to come through my surround sound. He said they did not have a digital optical cable with a length of 25' to reach from tv to receiver so I would have to use RCA cables and to connect them from (audio component IN) on my tv to (AV OUT) on my tv. How do I set up optical surround sound on my mac mini?

I have a funny situation where my mac no longer recognises my receiver as a surround sound device through the digital optical connection. It used to, it worked for about a year and a half, then suddenly stopped sending 5.1. 2.0 still worked (mp3s, avis), but trying to send 5.1 (mkvs) ended up with no sound whatsoever, on any app (VLC, Plex).
My equipment: 2009 Mac Mini running OS 10.6, Denon AVR-3082 amplifier, connected via optical link.
I tried a complete reinstall (as it had been a while), and I remember last time I set up 5.1 on my mac mini, it was some very involved process involving Perian and changing settings in the DVD player. I saw the default interface now supported setting up speaker configuration directly through the Audio/Midi setup utility, however this doesn't seem to work for me. When I select multi-channel audio output, all the options except "Stereo" are greyed out. I am using "Digital out" as the output device (only choice), and have tried 44.1 and 48kHz. My amplifier does not support HDMI audio input, which would be the simplest solution, so I am stuck using this optical solution.
On this clean install (not even any OS updates), 2.0 playback works (mp3 through VLC), and now 5.1 playback is mixed down to stereo by default. I have seen a number of guides online saying to use Perian, edit config files and so on, but they are all several years old so I presume somerthing has changed since.
Does anyone know how to get 5.1 output from my mac mini to my receiver, in the way it used to work for years until last week? Thanks in advance.

You can download mail for exchange to a pc or laptop then use nokia pc suite to install it.
The bug still exists were your email will be show up as being sent from Mail For Exchange and not you name
