Pioneer DVD-ROM will not eject after some time of system usage

I'm having an odd issue where after my Mac Pro is used for a certain amount of time (it seems variable), the optical drive will no longer seemingly be recognized. It shows up in the hardware profile for the system, however when I hit the eject key, Toast starts up instead of my drive responding. Further, when Toast or any other CD / DVD writing utility is started after this occurs, the drive is not recognized in these applications.
Any idea as to what could potentially be going on here?
The thing that throws me the real curve ball is that it DOES work for a little while when the system is restarted and then just "disappears" as noted.

If it's not the original Apple DVD drive, make sure "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" is not enabled in "Energy Saver" system preference, then reboot the system.

    Hi,
We are using BC4j/jsp application on 9ias. The application is not responding

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Is there any mechanism that cleans up these connections (back down to the initial or some other minimum I would guess) or do they hang around until either the app server or database shuts down?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
There is currently no mechanism for reducing the connection pool size after a period of high activity. Recently this has been frequently requested and as such will be implemented in the next production release.
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>We have verified this in manual testing. However, when the load tool script exits it doesn't seem to release resources. We know this because we keep seeing our database connections go up and up as more tests are run. Further, we also seem to see more than one connection per "virtual user". For example, when I connect 5 users to the app in manual testing, I get 5 connections. But, when we run a test using the tool, we get 395 database sessions for 200 users. We are having a bit of difficulty understanding why the behavior is different.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Assuming that the you are performing your manual testing against the same instance of the application on which you are performing your load testing, I would assume that the connections are being released to the pool at the end of the request. One possible reason for the approximate 2:1 ratio between connections and virtual users may be BC4J's use of internal connections. What version of BC4J are you using?
BC4J requires an internal connection to support state management and spill to disk. The internal connections are pooled with the transaction connection and only held for the duration of the persistence operation. However, if the web server is very busy then a large number of synchronous persistence requests may be received which would explain the eventual 2:1 ratio in the pool's high water mark.
If the user start times and think times are staggered in order to reduce the incidence of synchronous persistence requests does the ratio of connections to web sessions stabilize at some lower number (i.e. 1.5:1)

  • Why new contacts are not appearing after some time?

I Am using iPhone6, iPad New and iPad mini. The contacts which I saved in iPhone are not appearing after some time. I don't know whether it is related with synchronisation of other devices. Please help me if you know the reason.

    Hi,
Have you checked the filtering option in contacts? Open contact menu button > filter. Perhaps you have a filter hiding the contacts.

When the application deployed by BC4J/JSP not responding, does the sample JSP application still works? i.e. does any other application respond? Does 1 user respond? Is the database source (JDBC), running Oracle 8.1.7? What is the platform running the database (e.g. local NT database)?

  • DVD Drive Will Not Eject

The DVD Drive will not open with the keyboard eject button. The only way to open it is restart it and then put in appleoption+OF then type "eject cd" then type "Mac-boot" but there must be a simpler way to do this with out rebooting it every time you want to open the drive bay. The key board is brand new. I am using a IOgear Miniview III KVM switch. It works when you plug the keyboard in directly into the mac it works fine. Is there a KVM switch driver that is compatible with the Powermac G5 and a PC.

Open the Terminal application in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and enter "drutil eject" without the quote marks. If you need to use this command often, it can be made into a double-clickable application. To do this, open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder, paste the following in:
    do shell script "drutil eject"
and save it as an application.

  • DVD disk will not eject

How can I eject a disk when it will not eject thru regular means?

    Welcome to discussions, frank.
OK, here we go, in preferred order of things to try:
    1. With the machine powered down, power up holding the trackpad button.
    2. With the machine powered down, boot into open firmware by holding the cmd-opt-O-F key combination until you get the white OF terminal screen, then enter the following commands:
eject cd <enter> // (wait a couple of seconds to see if it works)
    reset-all <enter>
    3. With the machine powered off, use a credit card as a pry tool and insert a corner into the opening slightly, at a point about one inch from the right edge of the opening and press down gently with the card to see if you can get the release lever to spring the disc.  Be very ginger about doing this.  The lever often looks like what you see in this picture of an out-of-machine optical.
If those don't work, then you are stuck with removing the drive from the machine and working from there.
    Good luck!

  • Dvd won't play - eject after some sec.

    Hello Folks
i have a iMac (mid 2011) suddenly my dvd drive can’t working when I insert dvd (blank/movie/any) dvd drive don’t’ read dvd & after 5-10 sec. dvd ejected without any error.
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

Superdrives are really finicky about dust, dirt and smudges. They also have been known to not work with some DVD manufacturers because of slight differences in thickness of the DVD itself. All that said sometimes the SMC reset restores functionality to the drive.
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.

  • My CD/DVD drive will not eject disc

I have just recently purchased a new Macbook and I had the system for less then a few hours and there was already a problem with the system. The only thing that I have done to it is run the system updates and install the new Leopard OS. Upon completing the installation the disc would not eject from the drive. I have tried all the ways possible to eject it, but every time it makes three clicking noises as if it is trying to eject then the disc just reloads. I have even gone so far as to bring it in for service where they just shipped it to Apple to fix it. They claimed that the bottom of the case was bent and that Apple replaced it therefore fixing the problem. To my dismay when I brought the system back home the problem was still there. Apple wants me to ship it back to them, but I was hoping that there is some unseen solution to my problem, because I'm getting really feed up with this because I have owned this product for almost 3 weeks now and still have not been able to use it. So any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

  • Dvd port will not eject hp pro notebook 655 g1

I recently bought my hp pro notebook 655 g1 and the dvd port does not open, I don not know to open it since I press a button on the side and nothing happens. Help please

If you are certain that the button is being depressed, then the only recourse is to insert a straightened out paper clip in the tiny hole next to that button.  That should release the drawer mechanism mechanically.

  • WLSE 1030 not responding after some time

    Hi,
I have a wlse 1030 with 2.13.i have done all the configurations.after sometime itstopped responding to console access, ping etc.so,then i restarted after restarting again it working fine for some time.and then again the same problem is coming.what could be the problem. And while restarting it crashed two times then i recovered with the cd.
and it is not detectinf keyboard, mouse.some times it is detecting.
pls help me i am unable to resolve this from a long time.
    regards,
    subash

Below are the possible reson for that telnet issue
Telnet is disabled or configured incorrectly.
The WLSE cannot recognize host names.
If you are not using name recognition, slow or non-existent telnet interaction is an expected problem.
Make sure that Telnet is disabled by default. SSH is enabled by default.
    Recommended Action
If the problem is not the network, perform the following steps. Connect to the console port if you cannot Telnet to the WLSE.
    1. Check the Telnet settings to be sure Telnet is enabled and configured correctly. For more information, see the following
To check the Telnet settings, or to enable or disable Telnet on specific domains or IP addresses, use thetelnetenable CLI command. For more information on this command, see the User Guide for the CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine, Release 2.13. You can access a PDF version of this guide by clicking View PDF in the WLSE's online help
To enable or disable Telnet on individual ports, use the firewall CLI command. For more information on this command, see the User Guide for the CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine, Release 2.13. You can access a PDF version of this guide by clicking View PDF in the WLSE's online help
    2. If you have specified hosts using the telnetenable CLI command, make sure the host from which you are attempting to Telnet is on the list.
    3. If you are using a DNS server, perform the following step:
Configure the system to use a functioning DNS server by entering:
    # ip name-server ip-address
where ip-address is the IP address of the DNS server.
If you are using the import CLI command, proceed to the next step.
    4. Verify that the system can get DNS services from the network by entering the following command:
    # nslookup dns-name {hostname | ip-address}
where dns-name is the DNS name of a host on the network that is registered in DNS and hostname andip-address is the same IP address specified in 2. The command returns the IP address of the host.
    5. If the system cannot resolve DNS names to IP addresses, the DNS server it is using is not working properly.
Resolve the network DNS problem, then continue.
    6. If you are using the import CLI command to resolve host names, verify that the WLSE can resolve host names by entering the following command:
    ping hostname

  • CD/DVD drive will not eject disk, it is obstructed, help!

    Hi,
I formatted my G4 slot loading ibook today, I then went to eject the installation DVD, the drive makes the sounds as if it is ejecting however no disk appears, I took the whole laptop to pieces and looked at the drive, there appears to be a strip of metal that is on a hinge, this can be moved up and down, I think that it might be this that is causing the problem - the disk ejects so far, hits the bar and returns back into the computer. The disk is read by the computer and I am able to eject it so far as the ejection symbol appears and it sounds like it is trying to eject however it is unable to do so. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Jonathan

Ok I have fixed this myself, after searching for solutions all night and trying many different weird and wacky solutions I found one that worked therefore I thought I would share it to help with anyone else with a similar problem, basically I opened up the firmware window (start up holding - command, option, f, o,) then type "eject cd", the next bit is the most difficult bit whilst the computer is trying to eject rummage about on the left hand side of the cd drive with a credit card like object, (I used a small bit of thick cardboard. I slowed and stop the CD with the card whilst pushing it about after about 2 minutes of this it popped out, after this I used a blank CD to try it again, it got stuck, I repeated this process and it popped out again, after a couple more incidents of it getting stuck I have managed to get 54 ejections in a row without issue. I recommend this solution to anyone as a last resort.
